Novotel Reading Centre

Picked this hotel as location was good, only a stone throw from M4, im disabled and not a confident driver but as it was so close to the motorway I decided to drive , the hotel had secure parking and electric charging which i needed. 5 minutes walk to my sons new flat and train station. Beautiful room with everything needed. Extremely comfortable bad, so comfortable I overslept and missed breakfast 🫣. Staff very friendly, the pool looked lovely and inviting. Looking to book again in a few weeks, will definitely take advantage of the pool, and hopefully get to sample the breakfast next time 😀

5 Minuten Fußweg vom Bahnhof, mitten im Zentrum, trotzdem nicht laut oder unangenehm. Die Zimmer sind geräumig und mit Tee-/Kaffeezubereitungsmöglichkeiten sowie kleinem Kühlschrank ausgestattet. Für 3 Personen war ein Zimmer mit Zustellbett mehr als ausreichend. Ein Plus ist außerdem der kleine, bis 22:00 Uhr geöffnete Spa-Bereich mit Schwimmbecken, Sauna, Dampfbad, Gym.

Excellent location and amenities.

The air conditioning in the room did not cool the room. The unit was blowing air, but the room was very hot.

Room was v nice. Breakfast was good. Staff were all courteous and helpful.

There were a few things that needed repair here and there in the room and fitness area (changing rooms).

The only negative was are hair dryer wasn’t working in are room.

Slightly annoying was taxi couldn’t get to front door due to bus lane only street - not too bad as wasn’t far and didn’t rain on drop off or pick up but should be able to get access.

Everything seemed a bit old and jaded. In need of a refresh. Tired decor, holes worn inn the upholstery fabric, bathroom old and tired.

l'albergo si trova vicino la stazione e al centro ed è molto comodo anche per chi non ha la macchina.

La colazione non è soddisfacente e spesso non era fresca inoltre il personale che ha pulito la stanza ha lasciato la camera aperta tutto il giorno in quanto non ha tolto il fermo alla porta. ho riferito alla reception l'accaduto dopo aver verificato che non mancava nulla ma non ho avuto alcuna giustificazione né scusa formale. A mio avviso un fatto molto grave. A parte ciò l'albergo è un pò antiquato e avrebbe bisogno di un ammodernamento. in camera ho trovato il divano aperto a letto anche se non avevo richiesto...insomma in generale qualche perplessità l' ho avuta.

No mention of paying for parking when I booked room - when I arrived reception was not helpful We had to park our car in a long stay car park at £75!

Location is good. Downstairs clean.

The downstairs lacknof facilities. Has a decent bar, bit seating needs looking at. Room small for 2 adult and kids on sofa bed, a bit too small, no luggage space and tripping over ourself. Fine for 2 people.

I came to Reading with my friend to visit another friend, and before staying at the Novotel, I stayed at a different hotel in Reading which was not a very good experience. The Novotel was much better in comparison. The room was very clean, and all the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. I had a great stay and would definitely recommend this hotel!

I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for one night and it was an excellent experience from the start to finish.The hotel was exceptionally clean, well maintained and very comfortable. My room was spotless and had everything I needed for a relaxing stay. What truly made the visit special was the amazing staff and great housekeeping. Every member of the team was friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean , comfortable place to stay. I would definitely stay here again!

Nice hotel the location is great as is near to tbe shopping centre . The hotel is a bit tired need some refurbishment more modern design but at least the room was clean. Staff friendly also nice breakdast but need more variety form my opinion .

We stay here every year for the Rewind Festival that is in nearby Henley On Thames. It’s a great hotel and the staff are super friendly & very helpful and the staff will go above and beyond to help you. Toni even helped us with our suitcases this morning, how lovely is that! Its location is perfect within walking distance of the Reading train station and shops and restaurants.

Generally I had a nice stay . Room was very clean and with everything what you need inside . The location was also convenient, with easy access to nearby attractions and restaurants. On the negative side, there were a few things that could be improved. The Wi-Fi was sometimes slow, and there was some noise during the night. I also felt that the breakfast could have offered more variety.

We were able to check in early and had plenty of staff on. Room was very clean overall a very good stay recommended

I have a wonderful time staying in Novotel, especially the front desk staff Rachell Marissa who is kind and professional.

Personeel was heel erg vriendelijk, kamer ruim en comfortabel. Bed lag heerlijk. Geen mooi uitzicht maar dat kan ook bijna niet midden in het centrum. Ontbijtbuffet was top. Fijn dat we bij het hotel konden parkeren al zijn de parkeerplaatsen wel echt heel minimaal en krap, zelfs voor een gewone auto( ford focus) Zwembad was niet groot maar goed genoeg om even te " dippen". Al met al een fijne plek om van hieruit de omgeving te verkennen( 3dg, Londen en Cotswolds)

Eigenlijk alleen de parkeerruimte, heb wel zorgen gehad of mijn geliefde auto er zonder schade afkwam, wat gelukkig zo was.

It was in the city centre where all are accessible. The room was clean and the staffs are so accomodating.

It exceeded my expectations! The location is obviously superb, and the reception team was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Marissa! A big thank you to her for all her help—we were even able to check in earlier than expected. The room was clean, the beds were very comfortable, and the breakfast was great. The cappuccino from the automatic machine was surprisingly good! ☕️ There was plenty of choice for the whole family, and we really enjoyed our stay. We look forward to coming back and visiting again! Highly recommended!

Toilet and bathroom were separate. Bathroom shower tray was not draining properly. Looks like there was a block.

Constant mechanical vibrations in the room which was noisy and prevented a decent night's sleep. In a superior room there was no bottled water and only basic shower gel and shampoo.

The room It was a bit dated but still clean and good value for money

The parking is a bonus, and the reception staff went way and beyond our expectations. Incredibly friendly, extremely helpful and very welcoming. We were offered an early check in when We enquired and were advised that the only room available was at the front of the hotel which could potentially be noisy late at night if we were light sleepers. To be informed of this instantly is very professional from the well trained staff, as we were given an option. We did in fact take the room and slept so well. The bed was very comfortable indeed, the room was equipped with everything we needed for our stay and location was perfect being so close to the train station. Everywhere was very tidy, the leisure facilities on offer are also a bonus.

Just a small minor thing was just the bar service. A good thing for the hotel as it was busy but the waiting time to get a drink was just too long. But overall great area we were just very thirsty with all this hot weather.

Marissa was very helpful at check in and the swimming pool was a bonus too

We stayed here after a busy day at Thorpe park! So the reviews on here I feel are pretty fair. Upon arrival reception were really friendly and helpful. We went up to our and it was all fine on service level. The carpet had ALOT of stains on, the sofa bed which my children slept on was broken, they had only given one pillow for this to which we had booked for a family of four. The air con wasn’t amazing and especially in this weather you don’t want to be sweating in bed especially as we were the 11th floor so could not open a window. Overall it was ok for what we wanted somewhere to sleep for the night, but I wouldn’t stay here if I was having a nice night away.

We were in town for a wedding and had a family room which was perfect for our needs. Marissa and Raquel on reception are amazing, nothing was too much trouble and they really are so helpful. Breakfast was delicious, my son found the pancake machine to be a particular highlight! The kids also loved the pool. Parking was secure and located underneath the hotel, you have to pay and prebook a space and the garage can be accessed from the road behind the hotel on Garrard Street. Would recommend this hotel.

Clean, location and friendly staff especially in the dining

Lift is too slow and would bet better if there is jacuzzi too. Nevertheless,I’m happy with my stay. Good value for money. Dinner and breakfast was good too.

The hotel is fine, no problems to note. Service was good, room clean, breakfast was one of the better buffet Full English`s I`ve had. Thing that let this place down was the car park. IF you are lucky enough to find it, because it is not well sign-posted and it seems you are driving into the middle of a taxi rank then turn into what looks like a goods yard at the last possible moment. Then IF you have pre-booked they let you through the gates into a space that was seriously designed for toy cars. The spaces are far too small for modern cars to start with, then they have whacking great concrete posts making them effectively even smaller. There are a couple of slightly larger spaces, but they are reserved!

Rooms were wide enough, pool was clean and access from room to swimming pool was easy. The lady at the reception was excellent and very helpful. All staffs were helpfull and smiling.

The team on desk and at breakfast were lovely. Room comfy. Pool area was nice. Breakfast had a good selection, veggie opriins and plant milks.. Really close to the train station, only 25mins into London.

Although great being able to park & charge the car, the spaces are tiny, a few inches either side of the wing mirrors. Had to climb across the seats to get out. A few more seats by the pool would be great.

I was disappointed when executive room I was allocated wasn’t available the rooms on higher floors weren’t mentioned. Room given 1016 was not clean there was ladys, hair on chair, hairs on the sheet I had to sleep on top didn’t sleep well. 1 the gowns was not soft very hard the bath tub rotator broke so couldn’t use the bathtub. It wasn’t clean maintenance guy wasn’t told he coming following day didn’t hear his knock as works outside getting done as windows open he came in which wasn’t pleasant. No water bottles just water can in fridge use to have mini chocolate in exec rooms none to be seen. I wasn’t offered a change of bed sheet on the night I wasn’t offered anything on check out after my experience.

It was very comfortable. The pool was good and clean. People working in the hotel are very helpful. Breakfast was very good and with a good selection.

Car park was limited and spaces tight so if you have a large car speak with the reception for them to tell you where you can keep the car

A couple of things I should have pointed out but only there two nights didn't think it would have been worth it. Bathroom sink plug didn't work had a bath in the room tap didn't operate. Don't phone there automated hotel service unless you want to totally lose your will.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and really enjoyed our time here. The room was lovely, clean and comfortable, with everything we could possibly need — even an iron and ironing board, which was a very nice touch. The beds were very comfortable, so we had a great night's sleep. The hotel also has a lswimming pool and two saunas, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The breakfast was excellent, with a great variety of delicious food — there was something for everyone. All the hotel staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and polite. The location is also very convenient, and the whole hotel was clean, beautiful and well maintained. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely choose to stay here. A big thank you to the whole team for making our stay so pleasant and enjoyable! We really appreciated your hospitality.

Very nice spacious room well designed with comfortable twin beds. Very good buffet style breakfast well presented with good selection and good quality. Excellent location for the railway station just round the corner. I recommend this hotel for comfort and value for money.

Das Hotel ist insgesamt baufällig und renovierungsbedürftig. Die Zimmer sind abgewohnt und meine Klimaanlage hat nicht funktioniert. Ebenfalls waren Haare auf dem Bett. Bad sehr klein und wenig Funktional. An vielen Stellen Schimmel.

The location was excellent, bang in the middle of the town centre, which made getting around very easy

A third of the pool was used for a private swimming lesson (between 5pm and 7pm). This made swimming impossible. This is reflected in my ratings.

Location was ideal to get a train into London. Also, as the restaurant was closed there were some lovely places to eat nearby. Staff were lovely. Very helpful. Parking was easy although a little expensive by Birmingham standards!

Smart hotel in a great location - very helpful staff who helped us to store our luggage and find us quiet rooms on 5th floor (508 and 510). The room was spacious and overall clean. And we slept well. Breakfast was great, with a lot of variety but given the number of hotel guests they need another coffee machine at peak times. We visited the swimming pool and changing rooms at night (it's open until 10pm) however both could have been a lot tidier and cleaner (towels, hair, dirt everywhere). We were impressed by the customer service and would stay again if we needed a room for the night.

The room was small and the sink doesn’t drain water. No sink in toilet just bathroom No air conditioners with weather being really hot I was sweating at night.

We booked a family room, 1 double & sofa bed. Check-in was 4pm but were told the sofa bed hadn't been converted or made up and somebody would be up at 6pm. We had to go down to remind reception at 7pm as we needed the bed by then. Not the end of the world, but we expected our room to be ready before then.

It’s perfect positioned,within 5 minutes from station ,The staff was very helpful and did everything that was possible to make our stay better.

The breakfast for us was a let down as the eggs tasted funny,same with the melon,water Mellon salad.

It's a shame the restaurant was closed on Saturday, the member of staff explained it was a business hotel. The restaurant was great but we had to wait slightly too long to be seated, the staff members seemed to be in the bar or the kitchen so unavailable. Maybe a bell that guests could ring could alert the staff that there are people waiting to be seated? Otherwise all good.

Friendly staff. Quick, quiet lifts. Comfy bed. Very clean bathroom and toilet. Enough plugs. Entrance area to the hotel was welcoming. Big revolving entrance door. Free chilled spring water available which I appreciated very much in the heat. The chair in the room was very comfortable which was a plus for me.

We stayed for four nights Pro Friendy staff Great big room In a great location for train,buses etc Small swimming pool Car park limited space and needs to be pre booked charged at £21 per night Cons Noisy at night Only got 1 set of towels on two of the nights ,did not mention this as getting into to shower when noticed this. The cleaner left a pink cleaning cloth in sink. The housekeeping staff did not remove dirty mugs etc. I had to keeping asking for more. Got milk from the bar for coffee on 3 occasions and twice the milk was sour.so just bought milk in shop around the corner. The hotel was convenient for our trip but don't think I would stay again

Breakfast was excellent! A large variety of things. The pool, sauna and steam room is an added bonus. The location, bang in the middle of time is brilliant.

Unfortunately one day our bed was not made, it was presented as if it was but when the duvet was pulled back, it was evident that it wasn’t. This is reflected in the rating I gave.
