We had an amazing stay at the Conrad Hotel in Shanghai! The staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and responsive, and their English was excellent. We even received a lovely surprise gift after mentioning that we were in Shanghai for my sister’s graduation. I also lost my wallet during our stay, and the manager went above and beyond to help me find it and translate everything for me. Even after checking out, the staff helped us arrange a Didi to the airport and guided us through the airport so we wouldn’t get lost. Thank you so much for the amazing service and kindness. Highly recommended!

Great service and delicious breakfast! Guestroom was beautiful and spacious but not the best quality - the shelves underneath the sink were slanted.

I was looking forward to the rubber duck but it wasn’t waiting in the bathroom. Also would have been perfect if staff could have helped deposited our baggage into the room during check in.

My experience at Conrad Shanghai left me very disappointed, not only because of a serious concern I reported but because of how management handled it afterward. During my stay, I discovered that cash was missing from my room. I cannot state with certainty exactly when or how it disappeared, but the fact that I had to report missing cash at a luxury five-star hotel is, in itself, deeply concerning. I have stayed at hundreds of hotels around the world over the years and have never encountered a situation like this. After reporting the incident, I asked management several specific questions about their investigation. One of my primary concerns was the amount of time housekeeping spent in my room. According to the information provided by the hotel, one housekeeping visit lasted approximately 14 minutes, while another lasted approximately 39 minutes. These durations appeared unusual to me, particularly the longer visit, and I asked management to explain why housekeeping remained in my room for that length of time. My question was never directly answered. Instead, I received responses that appeared to be standardized or template-based. Rather than addressing my specific questions, management repeatedly stated that an internal investigation had been completed, no evidence of wrongdoing had been found, and that I should file a police report. While I understand that a hotel cannot conclude misconduct without evidence, I expected my legitimate questions to be answered thoughtfully and transparently. This review is not intended to accuse any individual employee. It reflects my disappointment with the way a serious guest concern was handled. When a guest reports missing property, especially at a hotel of this caliber, professionalism means more than simply stating that an investigation was completed. It also means communicating openly, addressing reasonable questions, and demonstrating genuine concern for the guest's experience. The hotel itself is attractive and well maintained, but customer service is ultimately judged by how problems are handled. Unfortunately, I left feeling that management was more focused on closing the matter than on meaningfully addressing my concerns. That experience fell well short of the standard I expected from a Conrad property.

I booked two rooms. One of them had a damp smell, but the staff replaced it immediately. The other room was provided three hours later than expected, and we were offered a complimentary dinner as compensation. Overall, the staff were excellent and responded very quickly. However, the hotel rooms could use some renovation and refreshing.

Our stay was amazing! We had a wonderful view of the city from our room. The breakfast buffet was very good with a lot of options for all travelers. The staff were all very kind but one, in particular, stood out. Rosemary was extremely helpful as she spoke English and could answer questions quickly and easily. If she was not on shift, the other greeters would have to go find an English speaking staff member to help. Rosemary provided suggestions for restaurants and shopping. She made the overall experience a great one! She is a gem!

I've had an outstanding time at the Conrad Shanghai. So much so that I'm coming back in a week to stay again. The staff, starting with Rosemary who greets you at the elevators every day, to the lovely housekeepers who are so thorough and diligent, it's truly a delightful experience. The location, ambiance, views and food quality were amazing!

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Conrad Shanghai! The facilities are top-notch, well-maintained, and incredibly convenient for enjoying the city. One of the absolute highlights of our stay was the breakfast—it was incredibly delicious, luxurious, and offered a fantastic variety of high-quality options that left us fully satisfied every morning. Furthermore, all the staff members were exceptionally polite and attentive. I want to leave a special compliment for Rosemary. She always welcomed us with a warm, bright smile at the lobby every time we walked in. Her cheerful greetings truly made my day and made our stay extra special. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Shanghai!

Based on my experience, I cannot rate the hotel higher than four stars, despite its five-star classification. Its standout feature is its excellent location, but the service level falls short of that rating. Upon arrival, there was no assistance with luggage, and the check-in process was not smooth; one of the rooms wasn't ready, and we were asked to check on its status ourselves rather than being notified when it was prepared. Furthermore, the lobby does not reflect the standard of a luxury hotel in terms of design or organization; the smell of food and restaurant supply carts constantly passing through the reception area negatively impacted the overall impression. The rooms are spacious, but the bed was uncomfortable, and the showerhead and hairdryer were in need of maintenance or replacement. We also requested an extra bed, which I suspect may have been infested with bedbugs, as the person who slept in it woke up with numerous bites; I strongly advise the hotel to investigate this. Room service was also substandard; on one occasion, the sheets were not changed, and when we contacted staff, they brought new linens but asked us to change the bed ourselves—and one of the sheets was torn. Despite these issues, I would like to thank David from the concierge team; he was extremely helpful and provided excellent service throughout our stay. Overall, while the hotel boasts a great location, the level of service and attention to detail does not align with a five-star rating.

The premise is opulent and semi - grand, and we were impressed with the staff and their attention to detail! Daisy at check in was professional and offered a complimentary upgrade which was delightfully welcome ! A big shout out to FREYA and PRAVEEN — at the breakfast counter for going the extra mile to cater to my daughter’s food allergies !

I like the hotel. It’s close to everything and very easy to hang out. Staff are exceptional, especially Rosemary in the lobby. She is good at speaking different languages. I watched her seamlessly switching between English French, Korean and Chinese to help customers get to their destination and answering questions. And she knows how to deal with kids. Will be back again.

Traditional High End Conrad Experience “not felt”. Quality of bed and furniture, and in particular the washroom area, not up to par with other Conrad Hotels we stayed at. Elevators were cumbersome! It felt like a 4 star hotel which was disappointing. 🫤

Bathrooms were not as clean as I hoped. Shower head was clogged and water pressure was low. Bedroom and bathroom fixtures were old and creaky.

My recent stay at the Conrad Shanghai was absolutely magnificent, and it is easily one of the best choices you can make when visiting this city. hotel that places you right at the center of everything while providing top-tier luxury. ​First and foremost, the location is unbeatable. The hotel building is spectacularly high and iconic—it is so prominent that you can actually see it from most parts of Shanghai, making it a proud landmark on the skyline. Because of this perfect central positioning, we were within easy walking distance to many of Shanghai's top tourist attractions, shopping streets, and cultural sites. It made exploring the city incredibly effortless and saved us so much time on transportation. ​As a fantastic bonus for Muslim travelers or anyone who loves Middle Eastern cuisine, the surrounding have many, many Halal Arabic restaurants just a short walk away from the hotel entrance. Having such an amazing variety of familiar, high-quality food right at our doorstep made our stay incredibly comfortable and stress-free. ​Inside the hotel, the views from the high floors are breathtaking, and the rooms offer the perfect sanctuary after a long day of sightseeing. ​ The staff are excellent across the board—always greeting us with genuine smiles, handling requests with incredible speed, and going out of their way to ensure our comfort. A very special mention goes to Rosemary the chinese lady that speaks almost every lanugage even Arabic :), she truly went above and beyond for us. Her exceptional hospitality, warmth, to guest satisfaction made us feel so valued and welcome. The location couldn’t be better — just steps away from a vibrant shopping district and surrounded by plenty of halal restaurants, all within easy walking distance. I stayed at the Conrad Shanghai for a few nights and the service here is immaculate! Quick friendly service, good breakfast buffet with FHR, and in a convenient location with Nanjing street nearby. Rosemary stood out to me the most pertaining to my stay at the Conrad. She was very friendly in greeting me by the elevators and provided great recommendations for dinner nearby, communicating my requests instantly rather than having to go to the front desk, and treats all guests with the utmost respect. Given my experience here, I would stay here again and would recommend it!

We had a fantastic stay at Conrad Shanghai. The hotel kindly upgraded us to a beautiful room, which made our stay even more special. The rooms are spacious, modern, and very comfortable. The location is perfect, right next to the main shopping areas and within easy walking distance of many attractions. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of high-quality options. I was on the 43rd floor and my stay was nothing like last year when I had a magnificent time, the shower has been leaking under the floor and water was coming out through the floor wood panels ( u have a problem with the shower sealant or drainage) I did not inform the staff since I only had 2 nights and did not want to pack again and move but it really effected my stay wet socks all the time .... I put towels on the floor and started showering in the tub instead. I informed the staff upon my checkout for future guests.....

Our company has chosen for us to stay at the Shanghai Conrad when we are in town. The hotel rooms are nicely proportioned and always at a comfortable temperature. The bed is comfortable with a variety of pillows offered to cater to guests’ needs. The gym is probably my favorite part as it’s quite spacious and it has plenty of gym equipment to get a good workout in. Really appreciate the 24hr access. Staff is always very welcoming and attentive to our needs, offering to personally walk us to the elevators as as Ms. Rosemary can be seen taking care of the hotel guests. The front desk ladies and gentlemen are also quite helpful. Staff ability to speak English is a welcomed amenity.

Very good location and breakfast but very poor housekeeping. Basic amenities for 3 people not provided. No extra towels or water or toiletries not given for the extra person. Inspite of complaining everyday to manager no change. Extremely disappointed. Needed to go to airport at 4.30 am asked for towel at 3.45 am did not receive till 4.15 am. I feel this makes it more a 3 star than a 5 star. It’s the basic amenities and service they lack.

Wonderful hotel to stay. Very good position to everything including the subway. Staff have been outstanding. A big shout out to Rosmary who was manning the lift to help you out. She was a credit to the hotel and has incredible knowledge of the shanghai district. She went up and above to make you feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble to help. Hotel is in a great location and rooms are well appointed. Staff are super helpful especially Rosemary who helped me with some questions I had.

Location is amazing if you want to be at the center of everything. The city views from our room were also really spectacular. However, these are the only positives. First of all, we were traveling with small children and called ahead for rooms next to each other. They could not accommodate that on arrival. The service was lackluster and our check-in person was not warm or particularly helpful. After a long flight it just didn’t feel great. The rooms are on the smaller side. The shower and bathtub are set in combo with very little space. The wear and tear was evident in the black mold in the grout and tiles around the bathroom. The closet space was also awkward. There is also no real separation between the bathroom and bed area. Lastly, we were not allowed to use the pool without swim caps (which we didn’t know about prior) and were charged an outrageous amount to purchase in order to use the pool. We can understand the policy, but feel they should either have loaners on hand, charge a more reasonable amount, or let their guests know of the policy beforehand. Overall, for being a Conrad brand hotel the service and facility was definitely not up to par with other Conrad hotels we have stayed at. I would not recommend this if you are looking for a 5 star luxury hotel.
