The views from our room were stunning and the room and facilities were exceptionally clean and well maintained. The staff were very attentive and the restaurant food was fabulous.
We hadn’t been informed about the tea demonstrations so unfortunately missed them which was a shame
Beautiful location deep in the hills covered in tea plantations. The building is like a museum and takes you back in time and the staff were very attentive. Really enjoyed the tea plucking and tasting experience and went for a long walk through the plantations. A memorable place to spent a day (or longer, as they also organize other excursions).
It is a very unique experience therefore expect to pay European prices for everything.
Excellent place Everything was perfect
Lovely staff that go above and beyond to make your stay excellent. Very scenic and beautiful location. Comfortable rooms and lovely breakfast and dinner.
It’s a little far from town but a really lovely place.
This is a very special place! Stunning architecture, excellent food and wine and lovely people. Thank you Jayanthi for the fantastic „tea tour“ and Muttusamy for your kind hospitality.

The building itself, being an old tea factory, was beutifully renovated. The staff welcome with tea was lovely. The grounds and gardens were lovely and the views of the tea plantation were stunning. Breakfast was good and dinner at the restaurant was lovely - but it would have been nice to know about the dress code in advance.
The property is very isolated, up a windy steep road. It definitley allows for a beautiful spot with great views but means that you can't just pop into a nearby village for dinner.
Spacious and comfortable room. Well kept garden. Tea Factory experience. Scenic location. Excellent and attentive service. Delicious food.
Food is priced too high. The use of recreational facilities such as the pool table results in extra costs. Driver's meals require significant improvement.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the overall service exceeded our expectations. A special thank you to Satheesh and his team for their outstanding hospitality and excellent support throughout our stay. They were always friendly, professional, and willing to help, making our experience truly enjoyable. We highly recommend this hotel and would be happy to stay here again. If you need it shorter for Google Reviews, I can make it 2–3 sentences.
Nothing
This was a one of a kind hotel in one of the most beautiful locations, with excellent views. It's like stepping into history. The food was excellent and staff are some of the friendliest and most helpful I've seen. Definitely do the tea plucking experience and go for a guided nature walk with Mutu. He has been working there for decades, knows the entire village, the hiking routes and every single piece of vegetation there is. Absolute must.
The only problem was that the rooms have very very bad sound proofing, so if you're a light sleeper then it's not for you. You can hear every step your upstairs neighbor takes. Service was also exceptionally slow, especially at the restaurant, and even when it was empty. Once j got dinner served an hour late, at 10pm, and another time I just walked out after waiting.
Lovely hotel and staff were wonderful. Very nice to visit a tea factory and got shown how tea is made.
Nothing
This is a very unique hotel, and staying in a converted tea factory is an experience in itself. The staff were warm, friendly, and always welcoming. I also appreciated that when I became ill during my stay, the hotel kindly offered complimentary transportation to a nearby clinic. The facilities were perfectly acceptable. At around USD 200 per night, I wasn't expecting a luxury five-star experience, so I had no complaints in that regard.
The biggest disappointment was the food. To be completely honest, every meal I had was extremely disappointing. I would also like to mention my experience at the clinic the hotel recommended. I was charged LKR 10,000 for consultation and medication for what turned out to be a fairly typical case of travellers' diarrhoea. Afterward, I looked into the usual costs, and similar treatment for tourists is generally around LKR 3,000, even allowing for some variation. I can't say whether I was overcharged, so I'll simply share the facts and let future guests make their own judgement.
Location was so beautiful. Hotel was beautiful. Staff was super friendly and nice.
Dinner was ok. We felt that the western dishes did not meet expectations. All other dishes were great
The Heritance Tea Factory is truly a special place. The building of the former tea factory has been beautifully preserved and transformed into a unique hotel full of character and history. Even on rainy days, it felt very comfortable and cozy — a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. The view from the room and from the hotel grounds is absolutely breathtaking: green hills, tea plantations, and mist create an unforgettable setting. In front of the hotel, there is a lovely terrace with several tables where you can enjoy a cup of tea while admiring the tea plantations and the historic factory building itself. It is a truly special experience. The staff deserve the highest praise — attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring. The restaurant also deserves special mention: the food was delicious, varied, and beautifully presented. This is a place you want to return to and one that will stay in your memory for a long time.
The property is beautiful
The bathroom is dated and needs touch up and renovation. The spa also needs to be maintained and made presentable.
We had a wonderful two night stay at Heritance Tea Factory with our family, including our two kids. The whole experience of staying in a converted tea factory was truly unique and memorable. Our kids absolutely loved exploring the mini tea factory and walking through the tea gardens ,it was both fun and educational for them. It’s a great place for families who want something different from a typical hotel stay. A special mention to Keshawan and the restaurant team, who did an amazing job taking care of us. Their service was warm, attentive, and made our stay even more enjoyable. Overall, a fantastic family getaway in a beautiful setting. Highly recommended!
Everything was amazing
The payment was a bit complicated
Beautiful location. Perfect place for relaxation. Wonderful staff. They are so committed that they act like they own the hotel. Tea plucking experience with Krishna was memorable, while the flower garden maintained by Pathmaraj was amazing!
Limited (though tasty) choices on the menu and the time taken to serve. Suggest to accept orders from the room prior to coming down to the restaurant. Meals given to drivers are not up to standard.
We had an amazing stay here. Hotel, staff, food, location, view.... everything is perfect.
In camera phon a parete e assolutamente poco adatto all' uso . Si spegne in continuazione
High in the mountain tea plantations, beautiful gardens and grounds, spectacular interior, lovely staff, food was very good. Gardener showed us around the garden explains about all the plants and topiary, the onsite working tea factory was interesting, the tea being picked on the estate manufactured and sold in the hotel.
Nothing
Beautifully restored hotel in former tea factory with lots of original features still present . Stunning location, you can watch sunrise over the tea plantations and valley. Food in the restaurant in the evening was really good with lots of choice. They offer a fine dining"experience" in a former train carriage. It was a fun thing to do and the food was excellent but at $100 per person it is overpriced.
We experienced issues with communication both via booking.com messages and at the hotel. They took 6 weeks to respond to a query, finally replying 2 days before our stay meaning it was too late to amend my (flexible) booking. The breakfast buffet disappeared on our second day and we had to choose "a la carte" western or European- limited choice. No explanation or apology for the change. Service was very slow and we frequently had to go to reception to ask them to send a waiter so we could order drinks. Once we found a member of staff they were lovely! We missed seeing the giant fan turn on because no one told us A local village festival gave us a rude awakening at 6am due to very loud music, prior warning and we could have worn ear plugs. We loved the hotel itself and if you want to stay in a former tea factory in all it's glory then go. But overall we felt a bit underwhelmed.
The 360 degrees view in our room. The warm welcome. The beautiful furniture and fittings and the dining room.
Nothing
The staff were really lovely. We went on a tour around the hotel and truly enjoyed it — our guide was very friendly and made the experience even better. The hotel itself was, of course, very beautiful. The view from our hotel room was especially beautiful
The staff could not do more for you very friendly
This property was very difficult to get to very narrow road with the price we paid per night surely they could make the road safer
Like stepping back in time - the hotel has a wonderful old fashioned (in a good way) feel. An incredible building to stay in and a breathtaking location. Rooms are very comfortable and we were lucky enough to have a balcony to look out from.
Nothing.
Staying in the converted tea factory was so interesting..it has a charm all of its own.View it as a stand alone experience and not just accommodation.Very peaceful, take time to relish its uniqueness.. the mini organic tea factory .. I was shown around by a wonderful lady called Jayanthi and Kavikanthan and Sujithraj were so helpful in the restaurant .. Ganesh gave me a little look at the railway carriage where you can have dinner .. all so interesting … but all staff were friendly and offered authentic caring service. Switch off and enjoy the views and dramatic mists as they float over the hills .
Very remote but that’s part of its charm. Its quite a distance to Nuwara Eliya so recommend half board. I respect the dress code for dinner but think it should be made clear when booking that option.
The hotel location is acceptable, and the view from the terrace is quite nice, you can see the surrounding scenery clearly. However, there are very few places that can be reached on foot, which makes it a bit inconvenient if you want to explore nearby. As a Chinese guest, I found both dinner and breakfast to be quite average in terms of quality. In addition, the service felt a bit overly attentive, and I was interrupted quite frequently during meals. The room itself is comfortable and the Wi-Fi signal is excellent. However, there are very few power outlets in the room, and unfortunately there is no charging outlet near the bedside, which is not very convenient.
What I liked the least was the behavior of some of the hotel staff. After helping with small tasks, they would often stand nearby waiting for a tip, which made the experience uncomfortable. This was the only hotel where we encountered this situation. During our seven nights in Sri Lanka, we also stayed at Sigiriya Hotel and the Jetwing Hotel in Yala. These hotels offer similarly high-quality facilities and service, yet their staff never lingered around expecting tips. In addition, some staff members repeatedly tried to promote extra services or products, which made the experience feel somewhat uncomfortable.

Rien
Everything! The location, staff, building, experience, food!
I cannot complain
Dinner at the train restaurant was amazing. We loved our conductor. He was amazing.
Totally unique building, very comfortable room, super staff and great food. The location within the tea plantation was spot on. Parthmaraj showed us around the amazing gardens he has been tending for 30 years.
Nothing - it exceeded expectations on every level.
Full immersion in the beautiful tea growing highlands

Loved everything about this place
Had to leave
Breakfast and location were good
The location
Nothing
The location, the hotel concept and the extremely attentive staff
Dinner overpriced as it was nothing special
We love the feeling of going back in time we love the service the quiet of the hotel the attention to detail we were half bored. The food was lovely. The only criticism was the road approaching. The hotel was very bumpy and very uneven but hey what an adventure.
Views and hotel vibe.
Food and customer service was terrible.
Amazing heritage property, secluded, stunning views
Access road is poor. If the weather turns (as it did for us), there is not a lot to do.
Alte Fabrik, sehr originell und authentisch. Geschmackvoll designed.
Effektiv nichts
Oh my word! This hotel is truly exceptional! Customer service is absolutely outstanding! Thank you everyone!
Absolutely nothing!
Heritance Tea Factory is an exceptional and truly unique hotel. Set at one of the highest points in Sri Lanka, it’s a beautifully preserved former tea factory with original features throughout, offering complete peace and seclusion after a scenic drive from the nearest town. The views are absolutely breathtaking, almost unreal, and the hotel is wonderfully quiet, making it the perfect place to relax and switch off. We had a fantastic stay from start to finish. All of the staff were outstanding, but we’d especially like to mention Thanyakaran for his excellent service in the restaurant, Krishna for the memorable tea plucking experience, R. Mutthusami for an incredible nature walk, and the spa team for a deeply relaxing treatment. This hotel is something truly special and an experience we would recommend without hesitation.
Bathrooms in the rooms could be refreshed, but not a problem.
Very good hotel in a remote location which is great for adventurous tourists. Staff were very helpful. Great scenery
The rooms were comfortable and clean, The Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious with variety. The views were stunning!
A little bit out of the way!
The Serving Staff were very polite and took lot of care
Awesome views, very interesting location, used to be a real tee factory high up in the hills and above the clouds. Good spa and extremely welcoming and helpful staff. Nice cosy restaurant.
The road to the property is narrow and winding. The property feels slightly overpriced, but is still probably the best hotel near Nuwara Elia.
Mmm … difficult to find really positive points. Even the free tour was disappointing. The staff was friendly, but we are still waiting for the tea at breakfast
The bathroom very old as the carpet. Very noisy … dinner too expensive and not really good. Massage with hidden costs. Difficult to reach and not really worthy. We paid too much for this room. 300 usd for one night is unacceptable. This was probably the biggest disappointment in Sri Lanka.
Lækkert hotel. Ekseptionelt god service.
Heel mooi gedaan. Prachtig uitzicht over de theeplanten. Lieve mensen, heerlijk gegeten.
Amazing hotel in a beautifully restored old tea factory. Lovely staff, super breakfast, good spa. The location is above or sometimes in the clouds. It is 14km outside of Nuwara Eliya up a long track, so you eat in the hotel (excellent food). Perfect for 1 or 2 nights.
Nothing to do with the hotel, but it is cool and often wet up here.
The location and the scenery is amazing and a must visit location. The heritage preservation of the old factory is breathtaking.
