The room was clean and a perfect size for a short trip. The beds were high but comfortable. Overall for the price and location, it was lovely and clean.

If it had more choices for shows or platforms on the TV, like Netflix or disney-plus

Generally the place is clean and well appointed. Breakfast was excellent. The room and bed were extremely comfortable. This is a really good value for money hotel.

It was very clean and seemed to have modern amenities in the room.

On arrival it was clear the two guys in the front desk had no idea what they were doing. I was charged for parking twice and they tried to charge us for a registered assistance dog. When explaining the law they still tried to charge me saying it's what their manager says. I showed them, after a very quick Google, the law. It was very clear they weren't very happy with it. We were told our room was on the ground floor however it was and it wasn't. The layout is very odd, to get to the room on the ground floor you have to go up a flight or stairs to go back down. Alternatively, which is what we did we could go outside in the rain and access it through a fire door and up two steps. Unfortunately though access to the part of the building is actually closed off so you either have to go up the stairs and then back down on the other side (think it's made up of multiple buildings) or try to keep the fire door ajar for easy access. It's a bit of a mess. After hours of traveling we wanted baths or showers however there was no hot water (the morning receptionist said it still wasn't on when she arrived at 5.30 am) and nothing was done. It was incredibly disappointing. Hot water is a basic necessity and it wasn't provided for us. The next morning unfortunately again we faced a challenge with having an assistance dog, this time she wasn't allowed in the breakfast area. Again I tried to explain the law to them but the chef, receptionist and one of the same guys from check in refused and said we must sit away from the food. I pointed out that we have never had this problem before, in fact the day before we were at a Pizza Hut buffet and rightly so no one questioned us. They didn't care and explained it was health and safety. I tried to explain that the law makes exceptions to things like that when I registered assistance dog is present however, their ignorance was very clear and they were not going to listen.

Breakfast was a good selection and staff were attendable.

My room was not clean. Makeup on the light switch, toothpaste remnants in the sink, bathroom floor was sticky, sink didn't drain. Paper thin walls. The bed was very hard and the pillows were quite flat. The images are very misleading, they make this hotel appear well maintained but I found it was quite the opposite. Not worth the 120 pounds I paid for one night.

Very comfortable bed, I had a great sleep. It was great having the fan in the room.

There was no hot water in the morning for a shower. I think the temperature adjustment button may have been faulty.

The staff is exceptional, you feel their personal engagement to make a difference. Especially the kitchen chef is passionate and puts some great love into the breakfast. You also feel the good vibes between the entire team. Plus parking space is spacious and safe.

Value for money, room was big, bathroom was big, staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great too I think they should put the price up! I will definitely stay there again if I visit Birmingham.

We booked the hotel because of the price and the expectation that it would be easy to travel into the city centre for an evening function. It certainly didn't disappoint as it was good quality, much cheaper than any close to the centre and a quick taxi ride in (Uber). Modern, clean and comfortable. Helpful, cheerful staff. Our room (150) was a good size, with an excellent bathroom. It was quite a distance from reception, but we were shown a quick way to access it via a side door. Fast, secure Wi-Fi connection. Comfortable bed, extra pillows supplied on request. Breakfast was cooked to order, good selection. The quantity was limited (one sausage, one hash brown, etc) but tbh much better than the unnecessarily overloaded plate you always end up with at buffet breakfasts in other hotels. Car park was at a charge, but only £5, plenty of spaces, and flood-lit for security.

Room was very warm. However, a Dyson "fan" was in the room, together with a conventional bladed fan, which used together kept the area around the bed cool enough for good night's sleep.

This hotel exceeded expectations. Stayed with my son for a few days. Susan on reception was exceptional and adhered to every request. Really pleased there were fans availaible to use for the rooms with such warm weather. Breakfast was great, a good continental choice, with fresh cooked hot breakfast made to order, again Ameena was pleasant every morning and greeted every guest in the dining room to take their breakfast orders. Location is excellent, Acocks Green station a min walk with trains regular to Birmingham moor street. Unfortunately trains were cancelled on one day of our stay so we got an Uber into the centre, very resonable at approx £9 to the Bullring. Parking only £5 a night with plenty of space and felt secure. Would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again.

We only requested the room to be cleaned once during our stay, slightly disappointed bedsheets weren't changed and bed was untouched and not remade up. Would have liked the sheets to have been changed especially considering Thursday was a heatwave and we stayed 3nights.

Reception staff were friendly and welcoming. Room was very clean. Bed was very comfortable. Great location for the station, so easy to get into the city centre. Onsite parking (for a moderate charge).

The property is situated in a decent area with great parking right by the station. The lady who served breakfast was also lovely and polite.

Quite possibly one of the worst IHG hotels I have stayed at. There is no AC at the property and in the heatwave it was quite unbearable. Even despite our windows being open, it was noticeably hotter in the rooms than it was outside in the evenings. There was also no fridge or anywhere to store anything that would need cooling such as my medication and when I asked staff if they could store it in the fridge they also refused. What’s more is that our check in time was 3pm and we arrived at 6pm but the room still wasn’t ready so we had to wait an extra 15 mins for the room to be made up. There were also only 2 pillows per bed, I usually like to have a pillow in between my legs but as I was with my wife that wasn’t an option. The lighting in the room was also incredibly bad, even with all 3 lights on things were barely visible. We were in a disabled room, and y he fire exits were blocked by stacks of laundry, God forbid if anyone was actually disabled and there was an emergency or fire they’d have had an incredibly difficult time getting out.

Overall really good stay, staff were friendly. Breakfast was good.

For the price I paid it was fantastic place to stay I did checked in just after midnight and the staff was welcoming and very cooperative Good value for money Highly recommended

Well located for the NEC. Good value for money. Car park for two days wasn’t too pricey. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Only a very minor thing really was that although the breakfast I had (scrambled egg and bacon) was really good the pastries were poor as they were very dry.

Great place to stay in Birmingham, quiet location with parking that doesn't cost a fortune. Rooms are in decent nick for a good night's sleep, comfortable bed, satisfactory bathroom. No complaints at this price point as it's one of the more affordable 3* hotels around.

Breakfast is very basic, few cereals, limited selection, for hot items again limited portion size with basic eggs, beans, hash browns etc - satisfactory to fill one's stomach but not great. Also no A/C or fans which in the current 30-35 degree heat is far from ideal.

A well located hotel that is close to the high street. My first thought upon entering was what a beautiful hotel, and I absolutely loved how fragrant it smelled as I stepped inside. I met Susan at the front desk, and she was absolutely amazing to me from start to finish. She made me feel so welcome and at home there. She looked after my heavy luggage for me before check-in, and when I returned she brought a fan up to my room without me asking for one to help me stay cool. I was impressed with the ensuite room I was given. It was much larger than expected, beautifully decorated to a high standard, and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. I loved it so much I booked an extra night at the hotel within hours of my arrival. The day of check out it wasn't easy saying bye to Susan. When we said our byes it honestly felt like a family member seeing me off in the lobby. Five stars to Susan! She's an absolute star! Would love to cross paths with her again! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

I booked a single room. Amenities included shampoo, conditioner, lotion and shower gel. Tea/coffee, a kettle and fan were provided. Despite the temperature of the room, it was comfortable.

My room was on the top floor and warm. Lack of housekeeping and I ran out of lotion as this was not refilled. My room wasn’t cleaned and I had to request fresh towels in the evening. I asked the person who delivered them to take my old towels however she asked me to keep my old towels in the bathroom which was very small and there was no space to store this. Upon checkout, the receptionist insisted I had breakfast and outstanding charges, I certainly did not! As a result of this claim, it took a while to checkout as the receptionist went back to check what had happened. I believe another guest may have mentioned my room number when ordering breakfast.

The shower was absolutely useless and dangerous. Any water that did come out of it leaked all over the floor due to an ill fitting bath screen causing a hazard. Completely unable to have a shower as there was no water pressure, I had to kneel down in the bath to be able to showers because you couldn’t move the shower up. Very noisy, was woken up about 2 am by people coming in and talking loudly in the corridor.

The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows (a big plus for me). The room and bathroom were spotless. The location was excellent, just two minutes from the station and there were a couple of excellent restaurants nearby.

The room was a little "cosy" for two which was fine for two nights but it might not be so easy for longer and there wasn't a refill of the milk in the room.

First staff member sent me round the whole building because she didn’t realise room 51 wasn’t in the building, then the room opened up to the road so was extremely noisy with other guests outside and could hear the tv from the bar

The room was very small with no cupboards, space for only a bed. There was no drinking water available in the room. There was no iron in the room and we had to fetch it from the reception. Washroom facilities were good but room was facing the roadside so we were unable to sleep.

Lilly here. I am writing this review under my other half - Peter Ross's account. I really liked the homely feel of this hotel and the staff also made me feel looked after. As a woman staying on her own, that was important. I felt safe, and welcomed. Also, the buffet breakfast with made to order cooked food, like a full English breakfast was great and so filling and the restaurant was immaculate. As for the restaurant staff - they were really attentive and friendly. The actual hotel room was really warm as we were experiencing a heat wave at the time. But, I was provided with a desk fan, that really helped when sleeping. The room itself was immaculately clean, so was the bathroom. The taps were gleaming, the bathroom suite was snow white and the bed linens were also. I felt very comfy and settled in the room. Thanks to all at Garner for attention to detail and for looking after me.

The only small thing was - I could have done with a softer pillow. But it's no problem as I'll take my own next time.

The room was far too warm, we asked for an extra fan but told that they were all in use. It really was so uncomfortable. I know the weather can't be controlled but certain aspects of comfort can be controlled, such as offering fans and using rooms that do not get the sun all day.

The room was very clean and tidy. Bathroom was fine as well. Location was convenient for Kings Heath and the parking - although paid for - was good value. The staff were all very helpful and polite.

The room was very compact and not really much space to use the tea/coffee facilities. Overlooking a busy main road so don't expect stunning views!

Lovely staff, downstairs area for evening amd breakfast. Location was great for us. Bed was comfortable they lent us a fan as it was such a hot day/night. Bath was good and it all went well.

The staff were friendly and helpful. I especially appreciated the chef, who kindly prepared sandwiches for me when I was unable to use the breakfast service. The issue with my booking was eventually resolved, and I was not charged any additional costs.

The biggest issue was the extremely high temperature in the room during the heatwave. The room became unbearably hot, making it very difficult to sleep comfortably. Although there was a standing fan in the room, it seemed to have been running for a long time and became very hot, so I did not feel comfortable leaving it on overnight. I was also quite stressed upon arrival because there was confusion regarding my half-board reservation. The hotel system did not show that breakfast and dinner were included in my booking, which caused unnecessary uncertainty at check-in.

Firstly l want to say that it is the staff that make this place special , front of house in bar and restaurant and the Chef were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. They helped us find a parking spot for the car and made us a lovely breakfast , just what we asked for. The room was a little noisy with the train but the beds were very comfy so once we dropped off it was ok.

The bathroom could have done with a little update.

Entered the room and it was like a furnace and smelt quite bad, like a strong sewer smell. I didn’t complain as it was very late and I was exhausted. Didn’t sleep though because of the heat in there. Considering this is an ihg hotel, I’d have expected air con. In this unusually hot weather, the staff should have aired the room before guests check in.

The room was extremely hot, it was very uncomfortable. The shower pressure was low, that made it difficult to rinse off the shampoo off your hair..

The staff are very friendly and helpful, location is perfect there are lots of local shops as well walking distance. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Also, there's a train station next door less than 2 minutes walk.

Didn't like the stairs too many twisting and turning room size of small next time I prefer to stay on the ground floor if there's room available once you're in the property you should have access to use the back door apart from those little details everything else was okay, perfect location for me.

Amazing customer service Mustafa, Amina and Chef, were super helpful nothing was too much trouble, they made our stay. Loved that breakfast was made to order no waste and fresh beautiful and tasty. Our rooms were clean and neat, the same with the communal areas, the staff working here are a real asset to the hotel company, other companies could really learn from the hard work, cleanliness and great skills these staff provide.

We stayed on one of the warmest weekends of the year, and the rooms are super warm, in fact without a large fan would have been unbearable, luckily we brought ours with us.

Easy to park and nice welcome at the desk. Very comfortable room, well appointed. I was at the back of the hotel and it was nice to look out on the trees. There was a train tack beyond the trees, but this was no problem at all. Not a busy line.

This is not something they can change, but the corridors were very narrow and my room was a good way down them. Not a big deal. Also, the veggie breakfast, although beautifully cooked, was a bit lacking. Some well seasoned mushrooms would have been a nice extra. But the staff member on duty was efficient and kind when I nearly set the toaster on fire 😂

We had dinner in the evening and breakfast. Dinner was amazing, freshly cooked and tasted divine. I had Ceasar salad, It was the best I have had. My husband had curry and said the same. Service and friendliness was exemplary.
