Normally a good hotel but on this occasion the smell of damp in the room was so bad my bags and clothes needed to be washed before using them again. I’m not sure what happened in the room previously

Excellent location for our visit to the show we were going to. Very near train station. Staff were VERY friendly, pleasant and helpful. Room very quiet. Breakfast was great.

Location was excellent, only a 12 minute walk from New Street Station. Staff were all very friendly. Beds were comfy.

It’s such a tiny thing but the doorstop was in ann awkward place and I kept catching my foot on there as it was near the mirror.

Being given a room that was already occupied to start which frighten not only us but the people inside. That was in the 4th floor then was had to go back down and then be given a room that was on the 9th floor and it was not worth the money paid for it. Curtain was not on properly..... floor clearly had not been hovered,, furniture was ripped and walled been filled in and touched up and also smelt funny ...... to me that is disgusting for what we paid especially for such a branded hotel chain

Very clean, modern hotel with great value for money and a convenient location. Service dogs are very welcome, and they also offer service if needed.

The breakfast plate is dead cold. When I put hot food on it, it goes cold quickly. So you need a plate warmer—limited fruit choice: only apples and oranges.

I appreciated the breakfast being free but as a coeliac with a lactose intolerance the choices were very poor. I could only have toast, jam and the schar cornflakes. I appreciate it’s an express hotel and so at the budget end of the IHG chain of hotels but I get more choice in a premier inn which I would consider being in the same bracket. The staff member I spoke to apologised but it’s not her fault. Also as a coeliac I would appreciate it if the gluten free items were clearly marked and in a separate area as I have experienced in other hotels because otherwise other people don’t always realise and take the items meaning people such as myself are possibly left without.

Loved the beds, they were really comfortable. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also good. Location was amazing, especially for the price. Would book again if needed. :)

The only downside was that their system was down when we came to check in. However, we got complimentary drinks, so it was a win for us.

Great location for all train stations, we used two. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Clean comfy bed in our spacious room with everything we needed for a two night stay. Free breakfast with a good selection.

The dining area has a small amount of tables for the amount of rooms, so breakfast was very busy and people in larger groups were struggling to find seats. Some areas looked a little tired/worn, but it is a busy hotel.

ontvangst was hartelijk, prima kamer, goed geslapen, prachtig uitzicht over de stad.

We hebben er heel lang over gedaan om de parkeerplaats te vinden, en de locatie. Het hotel hadden we last minute geboekt omdat een ander verblijf plotseling was afgezegd. We hadden niet goed gekeken naar de locatie. Als Nederlander in Engeland, links rijden, in donker in een stad als Birmingham was dat heel stressvol. Uiteindelijk zijn we wel goed geholpen door de receptie van het hotel. En hebben we het goed kunnen afronden. Het ontbijt was heel erg engels, en er was weinig voor ons, geen beleg enz.

Breakfast was very good, location was not the best for us but public transport is good, housekeeping staff are excellent nothing was too much trouble and the reception staff are very friendly and willing to help out with anything they are asked, I would highly recommend holiday inn express we never stay with anyone else.

There was nothing to dislike, my husband is physically disabled and they even allowed me to take his meals to him in the room.

El wifi va muy bien en las zonas comunes, pero fatal en las habitaciones. La entrada está medio escondida tras un muro. Los desagües del lavabo huelen a veces.

Friendly welcome and we were offered a drink on the house which really made it feel special.

The room was very pleasant. I slept well, very comfortable. Also thebsize was great, feeling cool and fresh.

It would be nice to provide with bottled water in the rooms or a common fountain in each floor outside by the lifts. The protein options in the breakfast were minimal. Too high in carbohydrates to fill the tummy.

I have put not for baby cot but during checking in, she didn’t noticed that. I have ask for baby cot and said some one will bring it. But no one brought any cot . We have to asked again in the night time. Also no tissue paper in the toilet. Room was very noisy and dusty

Very functional hotel and exceeded expectations based on price paid (£49). Breakfast was fine and amazed it was included based on price. Very centrally based but be careful you don’t go to the other holiday inn express which is a common problem based on receptionist feedback when I made this mistake.

No real complaints and as I just needed a bed for the night. Don’t set high expectations around the coffee for breakfast

The staff appeared to require more training, particularly in hospitality and guest engagement. Their approach felt highly transactional, more suited to a back-office or administrative role rather than a customer-facing hospitality environment. They came across as front desk executives focused solely on processing transactions, rather than hospitality professionals dedicated to delivering a welcoming guest experience. Additionally, there were several issues with the room itself. Although the booking specified a king-size bed, the room was equipped with a queen-size bed instead. The sofa appeared worn out and in poor condition, as though it had outlived its useful life. The bed placement was also uncomfortable, being positioned directly beneath the air conditioning unit. Lowering the temperature made the airflow unbearable, while increasing it left the room uncomfortably warm. Overall, the stay did not meet my expectations and was far from a pleasant experience.

Staff were great except for the first and second night, we were disturbed by banging from the floor above us, but they checked out and we were okay with the rest of the stay. Breakfast was great as well. Thank you.

Some kids were banging from the floor above us, we hope there is some changes like some rules. Some children were banging , forgetting that they were in the hotel. As some guests and children need a good sleep when they are staying in the hotel, the hotel should have a rule where after 10 pm, there shouldn’t be any distractions as it distracts other guests and children.
