Bedding was ok. Parking was ok. I slept ok.
Breakfast was the worst experience. No cutlery, no cornflakes, sour milk, no beans. No bread because they had been busy! Staff tried to put sour milk back in fridge after I told them it was off. Had to ask for everything. Staff standing around chatting instead of working. I informed them and then informed the manager. Nothing was done apart from "sorry". Booking.com message is out of date. It gave email to discuss with manager if you were not impressed. That manager has left, email out of date.
In a good location with a big car park. Clean and tidy. The breakfast was fairly simple but good value for money.
Nothing
The location
Sink blocked in the room the whole time we was there after complaining for 3 days, toilet blocked also
Just what we were looking for
Food not available after 9pm
great room for the price, exactly what we expected. the breakfast was good too.
Parking outside hotel.
Food in the restaurant in the evening was awful. There was a limited menu with no prices shown for any items, only a short title and a picture. The staff had to look up the prices on the till. The food that came bore no resemblance to that shown on the menu and was not nice. No allergy information or advice was provided. The spicy glazed chicken wings were in fact covered in breadcrumbs not glaze and were over-spicy and inedible. The burger was solid and leathery, served on a small flat wooden board that meant the food fell off the sides. When we complained, the staff initially argued and said it was what we had ordered and a refund was not possible as some of the food had been eaten. The issue was eventually settled with one replacement dish of similar standard, and eventually a complimentary bottle of wine. The overall staff attitude to our complaint was disappointing, but sadly appeared to be well-practised.
Breakfast very good. Room spacious. Appreciated having a suitcase stand and being able to open a window a little. Plenty of shelf space and hangers for clothes. Fresh milk always available for coffee making.
It’s an uncomplicated but longish walk into town. There are no buses on Sundays. Evening meal food is ok and a welcome service being a long walk to other options. Chips tasteless.

All was fine until I actually tried to get into my room.
Keycard didn't work. I was up and downstairs three or four times. The card worked only some of the time and I had to just stand there and keep trying. Next morning I managed to get a card that worked. Bathroom - loo not flushing properly Tissue box was stuffed with rolled up toilet paper Two out of the three USBs didn't work There were bloodstains on the undersheet.
The room was clean and functional, offering quiet peaceful surroundings.
Its location was some distance from amenities, although we did know this on booking, but in view of this we were disappointed by having poor choice of bar drinks. Also the eating area and lounge areas were far too small for the size of the hotel.
The room was adequate and the bed comfortable. The breakfast was good. The staff were friendly.
The room needed an upgrade. There was a damp wet smell in the bathroom and the shower head was wedged in position with paper towel.
Workers respectful
I was assinged to a disable person room and the soap in the bathroom was not filled up until we checked out. Although, this compliant was original laid to to the from dest return.
Slept really well. Very comfy pillows. Staff in reception when we arrived were friendly and helpful.
The staff need to be on the ball when more food needs to be brought out. When we were having breakfast the place where the bread should be for toast was not filled up. We had breakfast and left and still not filled.
Clean beds and room, staff helpful, good breakfast
Shower/bathroom smelled very mouldy but appeared clean. The smell was overpowering when using bathroom.
Our shower smelt horrid and it made me heave so did not have a shower across 2 days. Managed to have a quick wash though whilst holding my breath.
Lovely and clean
Seat area in shower
Little gluten free available at breakfast, toaster broken, only one cereal, no lactose free milk and we had to use loads of the little sachets for in drinks. Other than tbat the foid was fine.
Location
Dated, smelly
Convenient and clean
Sparsely manned ! Ordering food and drink was very slow
Location to where I need to get to. However it was on an industrial park.
EV charge points not working. The door to my room had damage and did not lock securely. The noise from other guests coming and going.
Good location for walking into Shrewsbury and visiting surrounding towns. Good selection for breakfast and staff always friendly.
The shower was an uncontrollable steam generator, only useable if the flow was turned down to a trickle. This was reported to reception who stated it would escalated to maintenance, we had to endure our last two nights with a trickle wash.
easy to get to on route to somewhere esle - great pleace to lie your head for the night - check in seamless and breakfast was good and easy check out - beds couldbe softer but totally fine, fab pillows
Breakfast, easy to book in. Air conditioning,
Unfortunately there was a strong vile smell coming from the shower unit.
Breakfast not good food cold & no cups or glasses
Comfy and clean with a great shower and an acceptable breakfast
The bar prices for drinks was ridiculous-a large gin and tonic was 15£ and that was using budget beefeater gin-very surprised at the cost
Great breakfast, great premises.
No complimentary toothpaste left (we forgot ours) and the bin collection was right outside our room which woke us up. Very noisy. This was even worse considering we requested a quiet room when booking. Clearly ignored.
The breakfast was well organised which served my needs. The hotel is located at a convenient location with good secure parking.. This hotel is particularly popular for breaking a long journey which served a very important purpose.
A minority number of the guests decided to have a casual conversation outside the hotel during the early hour of the morning. They lacked consideration to other guests who had hoped for a good night’s sleep before a long journey the following day.
The staff were good but could not resolve my problem as it was a booking.com issue
I booked a twin room and was given one with a small double bed. There were no twin beds available. My brother had to book into another hotel which incurred extra cost. When I selected the twin bed option on the website the price changed from €134 to €168 but still got a small double bed
We like the location
State of the room! As soon as we walked in, curtain rail literally hanging off with screws exposed, bathroom floor also looked, let’s say-questionable.. Pillows too small as a personal preference. Waiting for food to be topped up at breakfast, several pots empty, had to tell staff.. Not being picky, as we’ve stayed several times before..
Efficient
In an industrial park
The location
The fact that we booked for a twin room and they didn’t have it down as such. I will admit they gave us a room with a pull out sofa bed which was quite comfy but the fact that we had the problem in the first place. We are of the opinion that Booking. Com are at fault.
There was a horrible smell in the bathroom. Ran out of teabags and very low on tolie rolls. Very tired room Room 106

Location suits our needs perfectly
Apart from a broken security lock on the door and a very old, tiny TV the bedroom was absolutely fine - roomy and clean. Unfortunately the same can't be said of the bathroom (see below).
We were shocked by the state of the bathroom. The first thing we noticed upon opening the bathroom door was the state of the floor tiles. They were dirty and broken and the grout was severely discoloured. There was also a damp, smelly atmosphere in the bathroom. When we opened the shower we discovered why - there was a very strong smell of drains emanating, presumably from the shower floor drain itself. Unfortunately things got even worse! We left the shower mat on the floor to cover the disgusting tiles, but discovered in the morning that it was soaking wet, as if water was rising up through the floor, which appeared to be the case when we investigated further - the grout seemed to be letting water in somehow. The final shock was the shower head itself, which shot water out from the head face but also the bottom where it meets the hose. I investigated and discovered that there was no washer to stop the water flowing out. Luckily it transpired that showering was still possible, but I am at a loss to understand why issues like this aren't reported by housekeeping staff when they must be aware of it. This isn't a comment aimed purely at Holiday Inn Express itself as we have stayed in other hotels when we have been shocked by faults which should have been reported to maintenance. We reported our findings to reception as we left (when a member of staff finally appeared) and she said that the hotel was aware of the problems in our room but a fix was still awaited. She also offered me compensation of some amount or hotel loyalty points (although I'm not sure if I'm still a member). I still await a follow-up from this discussion. At the end of the day we were just astonished that we were given room 120 when it was in such poor condition. We were booked for another stay, this time for 3 nights, at the end of August which we seriously considered cancelling. However, since we were unable to find alternative accomodation we continued with our booking.
This stay was a vast improvement on our one-night stay in June. The bedroom was fine and apart from a smell of drains from the shower everything was good. I will send a review from our last stay shortly.
The shower stank of drains - maybe the cleaning staff could pour some bleach down the plughole to alleviate the situation as it isn't pleasant. In addition the shower fittings should have been replaced years ago - I wouldn't let anything in my own house get to be in that disgusting state so why should a hotel? As stated I will send a review of our last stay shortly. All of my contact emails have been completely ignored, as was the committment by the duty manager (I think) who said she would organise a partial refund in June.
We enjoyed our stay here we found the staff very friendly, helpful and caring, considering my diet restrictions when preparing my meal for both nights. The area was quiet and the room was great.
Everything. Great location for us. Easy access to main roads. Hotel very comfortable. Very good value.
Nothing
we liked the quiet location and friendly staff.
the room felt stuffy and air con noisy. New EV chargers didn't work
It was a nice quiet hotel , staff very friendly indeed , breakfast was amazing value , the shower was amazing and the linen and toiletries were great. The late check out was great , woild definitely stay again.
The shower head was a little bit limescaled and the choice of pillows in the room would of been nice as found it hard to sleep on feather pillows and would of preferred foam as a option , to be honest I didn't ask but wish I had as it might have possible to get a different pillow ,
Bed was comfy . Water was hot
Only 3 t bags, our evening meal aas terrible. Still frozen . Both meals were returned. Very poor. There were biscuits from previous people wedged under the phone at side of bed. Windowsills were filthy.
It was clean, well equipped and very convenient location
Some of the decor in the bathroom was a little bit tired
Carpet filthy, no plug in basin...offered a towel to 'plug' it, or another room but we had already fully unpacked. Tv not working, reception sorted it. Left us feeling uncomfortable. However breakfast was good. We shall not be using Holiday Inn any more or their associates and their poor press coverage adds to our decision.
Think the above covers it all.
Clean and very presentable. Good bed and pillows.
No air-con in restaurant and it was switched off in the seating area - very hot and uncomfortable. Restaurant staff invisible (I only saw one) - guests cleaning their own tables before they could use them with dirty tableware left around. Food running out/low, and not being refilled fast enough.
Breakfast- good choice. Well presented. Plenty to eat. Room clean and very comfortable bed.
Wasn't sure how to turn lights on at first - had to use card. Should of been explained by staff.
Space to move about.
As regular guests our stay wasn't as good as normal.
Acceptable
Staff on arrival did not mention the requirement too book in your vehicle to the hotel car park. I could see a tablet or screen on the reception desk. It was in the original booking info but I failed to see it. So I ended up paying a £60 fine. Thanks IHG.
It was convenient.
Poor Bar facilities, we had some issues relating to the room.
It was an ideal location
A bit fited
More fruit.
Great location with easy access to major routes and park and ride into Shrewsbury. Quiet rooms. Felt safe.
Good location, comfortable room, good breakfast.
I use a CPAC, sleep apnea machine and the isn’t a 3 pin socket near the bed head, only across the room by the tv, which makes the cable a trip hazard. We actually had to put a bath mat over it.
Breakfast was a buffet (6-9.30 I think) - just turn up & eat/drink what was on offer Bed was fine - very comfy
There was no door on the ensuite (obviously had been there before!). As a couple, we coped for one night - but anymore??
The breakfast was very nice, choice of pillows is a good idea. The room was clean and the bed was comfy
All good .
Not a lot from start to finish not a nice experience
Staff very very rude , especially girl who was our first port of call when arriving she said your room is ready but it's an extra £15 it was well after 2 when arrived, sat and waited all other customer where given room keys without extra money, and we were sat in distance to hear ,the lift was horrendous, shaking, making loud noises, the room ,well only half a duvet in the cover , basic clean ,room very dusty, the bed was horrendous no support at all and the pillows the same, the staff at breakfast was the worst part ,they all need basic levels of customer service myself and my husband, witnessed, ignoring, laughing, blatant can't be bothered behaviour from the staff, they left two lovely ladies with mobility problems to themselves, after they asked for some mugs for tea ,and other items that weren't there ,and them left them over half an hour before going back to say the mugs are going to quick from the other customers, i will never book here again, absolutely shocking, sort your staff out ,i have worked in customer service all my life, and if they were my staff especially the breakfast staff, they would be SACKED.
The air conditioning 8n the rooms
Temperature on shower didn't work was so hot you couldn't stand under it,breakfast wasn't topped up there was bugger all there, ants crawling all over the bar, dinner at night was disgusting I left it greasy and horrible, waitress was rude and didn't want to be there,no customer care, had to clear our table at breakfast as only one member of staff on worse hoilday inn I have ever been to sadly 😢
Room was fine and parking good
Tbh house keeping was poor in our room , Very very limited bar drinks Evening bar food expensive and limited Breakfast was the biggest disappointment tbh as it was cold and tasteless on the hot cooked food and the pastry and breads were solid and not enjoyed buy us 2 Night stay - both mornings myself and wife walked away and went elsewhere for breakfast, I might add breakfast was included in our stay but no not exceptible In my opinion
Breakfast. Comfy beds. Doggy biscuits. Every member of staff were very helpful. Quiet rooms, even when opposite the lifts.
Better selection of drinks at the bar. However, what we did have were very tasty. We did struggle with rooms, as we requested 2 rooms close together, due to my elderly parent. But at least we were on the same floor.
Bed was ok.
Hand and body soap wasn't refilled in the shower area. I also left my iPhone charger near the television along with the water bottle but property said nothing was found on my room after housekeeping was done cleaning. Someone from the housekeeping clearly stole it. Very Disappointed.
The staff were friendly and although the room was basic, it was clean.
Breakfast was a little cramped. It seemed like everyone went at the same time, so we had to share a table. There was also a lot of road noise you could hear from our room.
Great place location goog
Room was so clean, staff were all friendly, the facilities were more than you could need. Comfortable and a fantastic breakfast choice.
Easy parking, breakfast included in price.Quiet location not to far from Shrewsbury.
Nothing to dislike.
Location close to motorway was ideal but close enough to Shrewsbury its self.
There was a problem with our toilet in our room which we meant it ran constantly and therefore wouldn’t flush. Staff were unable to fix it and as the hotel was full we couldn’t move rooms. We ended up fixing it ourselves (temporarily) but it wasn’t repaired during our 2 night stay and we weren’t updated on what was happening and we had to remind staff on check out that it needed repairing.
Breakfast ( which was included in the price ) was excellent and room was spacious, comfortable and had an excellent shower .A big bonus was the free onsite parking
Price on a Saturday night which was expensive and why we didn,t stop for a third night
Comfortable bed, tea and coffee facility’s in the room,
The usb ports by the bed didn’t work, bathroom needs TLC
Lovely room with a comfortable bed
None
There was an issue with the kitchen which meant that a full menu could not be offered. The staff coped re4ally well with this situation and went to extremes to help people have something to eat, with good humour!
This hotel was absolutely wonderful. A fabulous get away. The staff was lovely. The Aircon was a delight during the heatwave. Just a stone throw from the town centre.
No dinner! Ovens said not to be working therefore only pizza on offer ! No
Location was quite good. Staff helpful and friendly
Dining area too small. When bedroom was done they pulled duvet onto bed but hadn't moved the pillows
Location
Shower in room not working, couldn’t take a shower despite reporting to staff. Left written report but no contact from manager as was promised. No TV in the room. Faulty toilet flush - all things that should have been resolved after cleaning staff had prepped room or room should not have been allocated.
Location and parking were good Quality of food at breakfast was really good too, as were the bar staff
Availability of some breakfast items was poor. For example no orange juice and semi skimmed milk were available on both days. Insufficient staff were on duty to replenish these items and clear tables. Dirty cutlery was noticed.
Nice clean comfy room after a long journey.
Hot breakfast was slightly limited,. No poached or fried egg, just what looked like powdered egg whisked up. Not great.
The room was larger than I expected and was clean, bright and had all the facilities I needed (tea & coffee making facilities, hairdryer etc) The reception / bar staff were very friendly and helpful. There was plenty of parking. We ate in the cafe area in the evening & the food was good quality & reasonably priced. The included breakfast was very good with fruit, cereal & yoghurt and hot options of sausages, bacon, beans, tomatoes & scrambled egg.
There wasn't anything I didn't like. My only issue was not with the hotel itself. I put the hotel postcode into my satnav and was directed to the back of the business park where there is no access, this made finding the hotel a little tricky
Friendly, very helpful staff
My sat nav took me to wrong address!
Quiet, spacious room with air conditioning, free carparking, good breakfast, lovely reception staff.
Bathroom is dated and toilet smell.
felt breakfast was limited
the hotel was fine good location
the room to be cleaned when requested and not to keep requesting cleaning
We had adjoining rooms, one accessible and the other not. There was a connecting door between the two which worked well. This is on the 1st floor but there is a lift (very old and noisy but it works). I think the takeaway from both of us is that the hotel is a bit tired and could use a good refit but it's made better by the very good and helpful receptionist (Mike stood out, recommending an excellent pub nearby for supper - the Mytton & Mermaid if anyone is interested) and the included breakfast which was tasty and perfect for our needs. There is a new installation of EV chargers in the car park which while not fully commissioned during our stay should be available soon for guests to use.
As mentioned the facilities are a bit tired and the room cleaning wasn't quite as thorough as we would have liked. Not enough to spoil our break but it could have been better.
Good location, ample parking. Staff were friendly
N/a
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy and the bed was very comfortable.
The hotel was very understaffed at breakfast time. They just couldn't keep up with demand.
Helpful desk, comfortable bed and air con
Shower and light not functioning correctly
Quiet, clean and comfy room, friendly staff, pleasant breakfast although was a bit busy when we were there and staff did their best to keep up replenishing the food, also food on offer during the evening too. Would definitely use this accommodation as a base again as it's fairly close to everywhere you might be visiting around Shrewsbury
It was on an industrial estate, on saying that it was a fairly pleasant one!
Great location for a half way stop to wales
Nothing really, it was nice to see some gluten free options at breakfast although we did have to wait quiet a while for bacon in the morning which held us up a little but when when we did eventually get some it was really nice.
Very clean hotel
Nothing
Very comfortable and clean. Excellent staff.
Nothing
Lovely room very spacious - quiet location; great for access to Shrewsbury
Shower in the accessible room is over the bath which is no good for a disabled person. Shower head needs to be fixed - room 116 Lift is terrifying - why does it keep bumping? No marmalade at breakfast.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean, comfortable and a good size The free breakfast was fine The lounge was comfortable
Is a bit out of town but we knew this before we booked.
The bed was comfy and room spacious.
It was nice
Bit isolated from the rest of town
Friendly staff, comfortable and remarkable value.
Comfort and convenience
Air conditioning and ample parking.
Food was a little disappointing
Quiet spot.handy to motorway.
Easy check in, clean & staff lovely!
It was a good halfway stop to our destination
All of it room good and food
Car park very full at night
Breakfast was included which was so nice .
Nice and quite
