Citrus Hotel Eastbourne by Compass Hospitality

I liked WHERE the Citrus is situated On the seafront. Minutes from town Centre. I asked for a Seaview , and got one. Staff were Nice.

Location great for where I needed to be only a short walk to theatre and beach

Grubby, no lift, windows so dirty, wardrobe a joke, shower did not work

The property was very convenient. Close to the beach, the pier, and the high street. Friendly and kind staff members.

Some areas of the room could have been cleaned more thoroughly. There was a visible thick layer of dust behind/under the bunkbed and food wrappers.

Das Zimmer und das Treppenhaus waren nicht gesaugt. Die Fenster waren dreckig. Es fehlte eine Toilettenbürste. Das Frühstück hatte nur eine geringe Auswahl und man musste das Personal darauf aufmerksam machen, dass Wurst, Käse etc. aufgebraucht waren. Das Personal war sehr höflich, aber überfordert, da zu wenig Personal vorhanden war.

The room was very basic, which was fine for the one night that we stayed.

A few to many stairs for me, but I didn't make my needs very clear. Our dog had not been added to the booking by the booking company. The shower had a bit of a leak and I should have asked for a mat as the shower floor was quite slippery.

Das Zimmer war nicht mit den Bildern zu vergleichen. Dreckige Wände und Teppiche. Es wurde zuvor im Zimmer geraucht und der Gestank einfach nur mit Raumspray übersprüht. Da man die Fenster kaum öffnen konnte, war es sehr unangenehm. Der Fahrstuhl funktionierte nicht, sodass wir unser Gepäck bis in den 3. Stock schleppen mussten. Bei unserer Ankunft war für circa 15 min kein Personal am der Rezeption oder auffindbar, sodass wir nicht einchecken konnten. Beim Frühstück hat die Kaffeemaschine nicht funktioniert. Insgesamt ein sehr unangenehmer Aufenthalt.

It's mentioned on the booking details that there is parking available, which is totally false. I had to park a mile away on a side road. I was fist put on a ground floor room, the window was broken, then I was moved to 3rd floor room, now the lift is broken. The room was so tiny that you'll bump on something or other. The bathroom is actually a walk in shower with no shower door. And a commode. There were no glass to drink water and table was not cleaned. I won't stay in this hotel ever again. And you should be careful before booking.

The location was perfect and we have stayed here before for two nights and last year our booking was cancelled as the hotel was being used for students..On our last stay which was a autunm/ winter stayed we were given a sea view room hench the reason we booked for another stay.

The first room was poor and we asked to change which the staff managed to arrange.This wasn't easy due to the fact the hotel was almost full.The safe in the room we were moved to didn't work we asked for it to be looked at but nobody came even though it was written in the report book.We also had no kettle and hairdryer which were replaced.The hotel was occupied by 45 approx students who as being young / teenagers were noisy at night expected but in future I don't think it works with other paying guests.Either use it for students entirely or paying guests the two mixes don't work.

Жахливо брудно! Пил просто всюди шарами. Липкі , брудні чашки та ложки. Липка та брудна спинка дивана. Пліснява на наволочці, пліснява у ванні. Мило жахливе , ніби крапля миючого засобу розведена водою. Смердить хлоркою, а все брудне та неприємне на дотик.

Nicht sauber. Unangenehme Gerüche. Dafür ein überteuerter Preis. Eigentlich eine unsaubere Jugendherberge.

Location was exvellent, as we neefed it near the tennis and oposite beach but also at the quieter end of the sea front. Convenient parking close by. Room was very spacious, nice big bed and everything was nice and clean. Staff on reception were brilliant very helpful and obliging so a big thank you to them. A minor comment is that bathroom had no blinds, so got very hot un there due to direct sun pouring in so a bit uncomfortable in there but not a big issue. I still give them a 10/ 10 and will definitely stay there again next year and any other time we visit eastbourne which is quite frequently.

Not a dislike but more a suggrstion for improving: Bathroom could do with a blind / curtain to keeo room cool as in very hot weather room got extremely hot. A mini icebox/ fridge in room would be fantastic.

I think the hotel has seen better days. Perhaps when it was a Best Western it was kept to a higher standard but things have certainly slipped since then. It's a bit tired and needs some TLC.

Nothing!. Room stank. Really dirty. Fixtures and fittings were patched up or had poor repairs made to them. paint on the walls was peeling off. Dirty carpet and holes in the curtains.

My first room had dog s**t on the floor and on the skirting board in another part of the room. I was moved but my new puppy had already sniffed at the s**t and the next morning I had to rush him to the vets for an emergency appointment and now he's on x2 lots of medication. I was supposed to stay the second night but didn't want to risk it. I went back to the hotel on the Wednesday to flag all of this up and I was promised a call within 48 hours with a resolution. 96 hours later and still no phone call. PLEASE AVOID THIS HOTEL IF YOU HAVE A DOG.

The staff and the service

The staff were lovely - friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a very nice, continental spread. The bed was comfy with the duvet being the perfect weight for a comfortable night's sleep. The room and carpet were clean.

The hotel is a classic case of once having been grand, but now tired and in need of some serious investment. Repairs are needed and decoration carried out. The windows didn't work properly, some of the glass units were blown and grubby. The curtains needed re-fixing. Bedside lights would be good but it would appear that there aren't enough sockets.

It was basic for the expensive price we paid

Toiletries was like washing up liquid, dirty stains everywhere especially round the toilet on the floor

The staff were super friendly and helpful during our stay. The location was convenient and check-in was easy.

Breakfast finishing at 9am which seemed quite early when you didn't need to check out until 11am. Choice of food at breakfast was not great.

The room was spacious and the breakfast buffet was very good.

Staff were clearly a little stretched and the decor had seen better days. However, there was 2 small and 2 big problems in the room (109): - The least annoying was there was only 1 electricity socket, albeit double, and this was on the wall opposite the beds. So it was not possible to have phones charging at the bedside. - Also frustrating was the lack of wifi information in the room - I had to go down and ask reception which one to use and the password. - The first big problem was the toilet flush / cistern. This developed a 'water hammer' noise while refilling which sounded like someone using a power drill; unfortunately the refilling water also flowed into the toilet, so the cistern didn't fill and the noise continued. This is not the kind of problem you want at 3am, but there was no-one to contact to come and investigate. - The second big problem was only discovered when packing bags to leave - the ceiling smoke alarm had been covered by a sock. As the ceiling was very high, a ladder would have been needed to do this.

the room was full of dust! run down and needs referb. the lift looks bad and needs to be cleaned and repainted. most of the buttons are missing, and there is a sign telling you they are safe and you can use them. no parking is included. it's £2.50 per day. if you check out you have to find alternative parking from 11am the day of check out. so if you want to stay you need to move your car, additional parking is close but it is not convenient to move vehicles. staff were very unprofessional and rude. no uniforms and staff looked scruffy. the room was too hot and we couldn't open the main window. the ones we could were not open enough to generate a breeze to cool the room. we ask for a second fan (we had a toddler so needed to cool the room for her) and got told maintenance would be up shortly. 30 minutes later we went down to reception and maintenance was still not on site and they went and got their fan from the office. breakfast is not worth being included it is just a cold buffet. and the member of staff working was so rushed off his feet we couldn't find a clean table to sit out. only one light switch by the door. no side lights by the bed nor plug sockets. won't be booking again, not worth the price.

Great location, just on the seafront and in a quiet and nice part of town. Rooms were good and clean, with a functional bathroom.

Not very soundproof as we could hear a lot of the neighbouring rooms, especially late at night, but the hotel and location were generally quiet once other guests calmed down.

They have disabled access rooms but about 10 steps up to reception! They did warn us but it needs sorting. Disabled access room had three single beds that left no room for a disabled person to get around.

Exactly the room I was looking at having by seeing the room types via their photos! Comfortable beds, choice of bath or shower. Breakfast was nice from cereals, fresh fruit, pastries and yogurts, plus more. My daughter enjoyed her stay, the games room was a winner!

The condensed windows didn’t look to nice and had ants coming in from outside along with the opening of windows was little on a hot evening.

Best western need to give inside and out a coat of paint and update the rooms. The cleaning staff whilst ok I did find used diabetic strips still with blood on beside our bed. The hotel looks old and tired and could be so much more

My husband and I have always stayed at this hotel. We have been happy with it's budget friendly clean rooms. This visit was very disappointing. The hotel smells damp. We were in room 305. The bed was clean and the bathroom was too. However the room in general was not. We couldn't put our clothes away as there were food crumbs.in the draws, large amounts of dust on skirting boards, backs of chairs etc. Even the remote was filthy. The sealing had damp marks on and the widows had mould that was not removed properly. The cost of the rooms were reasonable although i would rather pay more for a clean room. Sorry citrus hotel I think it's time for us to part. Won't be staying here again.

Breakfast was good, bed was comfortable and the staff were friendly.

The stairs to reception were difficult for my wife who has mobility issues. The lift wasn't working properly, but at least it worked. The cleaner needs to look up when cleaning. The vent in the bathroom was filthy and there was a lot of dust on the clothes hanging tubes.

Friendly welcome, spacious room, large comfy bed, seafront location, helpful staff, nice continental buffet breakfast. Also, £2.50 parking for the day/night with special voucher to put in car window on arrival was a welcome bonus.

Windows in room needed a good clean on the outside, chandelier lights needed a good dust & bathroom could have done with a blind, showergel & shampoo looked as though it needed renewing. Outside of hotel entrance was not very inviting, but inside was very nice.

Needs maintenance. Curtains falling off rail, double glazed windows don’t close easily or properly, sliding door to bathroom very dirty, problem with lift near room caused a thumping sound that went all day and night. Lift only cannot be taken downstairs from 3rd floor as button missing from panel. Problem at check in and staff member who checked us in was not particularly helpful. Other staff were great.

A great value hotel. We had a lovely spacious room with a sea view for a much cheaper price than other hotels. The beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was simple but delicious with lots of continental options. Great location on Eastbournes seafront with everything we wanted to see and do in walking distance. Staff were friendly & welcoming.

Some of the decor is dated but they are in the process of decorating the rooms. Ours was freshly decorated but had finished later than expected so we had to check in late and the cleaning had been rushed because of this.

Beach front, was beautiful to walk over to the beach early with the dog and enjoy the waves and peace. There is always a French bistro opposite that is amazing 👏 with stunning views. Beds were comfortable and clean alongside clean towels and toiletries.

Lower ground floor we heard lots of creaking from upstairs. Wasn't overly clean and the lift was not very desirable as it has buttons missing so you have to stick your finger into the inside of it.... bit dodgy. Also, not too sure you could get a wheelchair in there, and you have to go up stairs to get to reception, so wouldnt say wheelchair friendly.

The hotel was really unhygienic. Dirty everywhere. The bathroom was honestly not nice. I know I paid little so I guess you get what you pay for.

Breakfast was an adequate continental breakfast. Reception were very helpful and met all our needs including getting us blankets.

The bathroom was tiny, no hooks or anywhere to put things except on the toilet lid. Could have been cleaned more thoroughly!

The location was perfect for us, the room was clean and the bathroom, although basic, met our needs. 2 of us are coeliac and were very impressed with the choice at breakfast. The gentleman receptionist was helpful.

The decor and bathroom were a bit dated. The lift buttons, although safe, were disconcerting. The day receptionist gave us incorrect information about the time our parking permit ended on a Saturday, which caused some anxiety. However this was rectified when we checked with the gentleman receptionist.

Located on the waterfront, I had a view to the ocean and the pier from my single room. The reception staff was friendly and available to help. The bed was comfortable. Hot water and water pressure were good. Breakfast was good if you are happy without a cooked breakfast --there was a variety of cereals and spreads, croissants and muffins, ham and cheese, fruit, yogurt and milk, bread and coffee. Smart TV available in the room.

As others have said, the property is a bit run down and suffers from humidity and my room did smell a bit damp. It was ok after opening the window for a while. The kettle in the room had some residue (I think rust) and did not feel safe to use. There wasn't a door between the bathroom and the room and the morning sun woke me up early. I still think it was good value for money for a one-night stay.

The bed was comfortable, the treble cot provided was as stated and comftable for my 4 month old baby. Hearing was good as could turn up and down. We had sea veiw in our room. Kettle cups etc was all provided. We ran out of coffee and was going to buy some from the local shop but the guy at reception said not to and gave us plenty more. The guy who was working was extremely helpful with where to eat locally and with anything we needed. Would stay again if we was in that area

Room was a little tired ,dusty shelfs ,curtains damaged and didn’t close properly

Last minute booking so didn't check the reviews. When we did, they were not great. However this was not as bad as a high number of the reviews reported. Firstly the negatives. Carpets throughout the hotel, looked like they had not seen a vaccum for some time as there were bits everywhere, even in the breakfast room, that had only just opened. First thing we saw when walking towards the hotel was a scrappy, neglected looking notice board, which would normally have been enough to have put me off, if I had not already booked. Main window in our room could not be closed. Hotel was a little tired Now the positives Working wide screen TV Clean Towels Clean Bedding Continental Breakfast was clean and had everything you would normally expect. Car parking was on the public roads but was at a reduced rate when staying at the hotel from 3pm check-in until 11am checkout which was great value. So all in all, for one night, was not not too bad.

I didn’t find staff as friendly as they have been before, we’ve stayed a handful of times and they’ve been very nice and accommodating..however during this stay we found them a little unwelcoming and not too great. We will find somewhere else to stay in future

The window was boarded up in the kids room instead of replacement glass The shower was terrible I had asked for it to be sorted amd it was still cold then I had to go to reception twice to complain about noise coming from the room nextdoor that went on from 9.30pm to 4am

The noise i couldn't sleep all night the buttons where missing on all the lift buttons you had to put your finger in a hole. The window in the room was boarded up . The shower was cold and low pressure and the place was very scruffy
