Friendly staff, very clean, very comfortable beds. Food great
The facilities & cleanliness
N/A
Room very comfortable liked that it was in quiet area on ground floor
Bathroom door needed painting and there was a hole in the side of the bath. Safe too low for elderly to access
Upgraded to a suite upon arrival which was an unexpected surprise! The room was excellent, far better than we could have asked for. The lady on reception was really helpful & friendly, ensuring we got off to a fantastic start to our stay. Bar staff we very friendly & the bar area was a lovely place to sit & relax. Breakfast choice was excellent & really well presented.
Nothing, great place to stay!
We came for my sister in laws wedding
Lovely friendly staff at every stage of the visit Lovely breakfast options Great spa facilities and treatments by Tracey Super comfy bed, like sleeping on/in a cloud! Literally opposite Lancaster Uni for my sons visit to the open day.
Tiny niggle was two weddings were on during our stay Friday and Saturday night, so lots of weaving through guests in the bar area on the way to our suite, and on the Saturday night people were outside, right below our room chatting and lauging til 1am...but al least it was happy and no fighting so not a huge issue! Only 1 proper veggie option in the restaurant for my evening birthday meal - so went to Merchants in the city centre which was amazing!
Very nice
Didn’t l our first room as it looked like a dated self contained apartment, was moved to a lovely room in the main hotel. Bar didn’t stay open for residents.
Lovely but noisy bedroom! Needs to be soundproofed
Lack of soundproofing
Good food , great staff, clean and cozy .
location was perfect. hotel and staff a delight. the food and service in the bar was perfect. Really a nice place to stay. But, they have now started charging £ 12 per night if you didnt book the hotel direct with them! I couldn't as they have no space, it was an emergency last minute visit and I had to use Booking.com (and problem with this site), so I got the surprise extra bill. Honestly, hotel is great, stayed a few times, really should have said I walked and used the free car park terminal used if you visit the gym or bar!
the £ 12 extra fee I got charged as they had no rooms (I did call first) and had to book what I could. Maybe next time my daughter is ill at uni and I have to go immediately I will take this into consideration if they don;t have rooms direct left themselves.
Perfect location for us just outside Lancaster. We only stayed one night . The meal in the bar are and breakfast were excellent. Will be staying again
Nothing
Breakfast was good Swimming pool and sauna also excellent
Close to M6. Quiet. Restaurant in hotel.
No lift. Our room was on 1st floor and we had quite heavy cases as setting off on a 2 week holiday.
Excellent hotel with plenty of facilities for a weekend break. Restaurant staff were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Food very good.
On arrival you are immediately charged £12 a night for parking. You are then given a lecture about booking direct with the hotel to get "free" parking. Having checked the direct booking price it would still cost more than booking via booking.com or similar. I feel that it's not an ideal start to what turned out to be an excellent stay. I suggest that the hotel should include the cost of parking in the booking fee regardless.
Tutto molto pulito e spazioso. Cordiali e simpatici
Assenza di ascensore
Spacious, clean room and great decor in the lobby. Nice breakfast.
Housekeeping staff talking loudly in the corridor and banging around in nearby rooms early in the morning, which disrupted my sleep on both nights of my stay.
The spa facilities were excellent I absolutely loved the outdoor hottub. The food (and cocktails) ,staff and room were exceptional and highly recommended. The room was a generous size and the bed was very comfortable I'll br sure to recommend the hotel to all my friends and family. They even left a birthday card in my room for me which was super cute. A huge thank you to all the staff who made it such a special stay for us
There's nothing bad i could say
Standard of hotel, clean and great breakfast
Issue with parking costs post stay
The property is very clean and the facilities are excellent .The food is great breakfast is good quality and plentiful .The hotel has dog friendly rooms and areas so both dog lovers and those who are not so keen are catered for .I used the spa on this visit and was very impressed with the facilities .The hotel staff from the reception staff ,the restaurant staff , bar staff and the room service staff are all excellent and very friendly.
I felt the parking charge was very expensive.
swimming pool breakfast location
a bit out of town
The food was delicious The room was was very cosy The facilities were amazing The staff were very friendly & helpful
Very nice place, large room and bathroom, excellent breakfast.
Only complaint would be a very soft mattress which is not comfortable
Spacious, well appointed hotel in a good location for passing trade, university visitors and those using Lancaster as a centre for a longer stay. Pool, spa. Etc appeared popular and well used. Rooms spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. Bar food good.
No lift, rooms were arranged in a square so some were a long way from reception. Rooms not well soundproofed so noise from corridor and next door until "bed time ". External signage for parking not good. Prices on the high side of normal, particularly for extras like food, drink etc.
Just back from an amazing stay at Lancaster House. All staff from arrival to checkout were fantastic!!! Stand outs from the trip were the food and service in the restaurant and the relaxing facial experience by Tracey in the Spa (do not miss this ‘out of this world’ treatment!!) Thank you to all staff for making this such a memorable stay.
Fabulous hotel with great facilities Very friendly staff and great pet facilities. Quiet room despite a wedding reception. Great food and a separate room for dogs and owners
Cooked breakfast was lukewarm as plates were cold. Not enough staff for the amount of people
Found this a very very well appointed and operated hotel. Bedroom was particularly comfortable; the standards of upkeep of everything were clearly very high and all the staff encountered most helpful and efficient. Very minor niggles were apparent lack of air conditioning to our bedroom and no eg cold proteins and cheeses noticed at the otherwise-good breakfast buffet. Very highly recommended.indeed.
Nice room, nice breakfast.
Didn't like having to pay to park!!
It was a stunning hotel, brilliant facilities, lovely grounds and excellent price
Nothing, all good
Leisure centre excellent Staff friendly and helpful
Parking as an extra charge
Kids liked the swimming pool The big bath was great
Bit pricy for what it was
Great breakfast
Evening menu was limited and very rich needs a few simpler dishes
Staff were very helpful and polite. The leisure club facilities were excellent.
Last minute booking, was cheaper than both Holiday Inn and Premier Inn. Can't fault the hotel, excellent with children who can do Sam's trails in and outside the hotel, there is a passport and activity pack in the room, ours was missing but room service brought it up with in seconds. The pool and spa area are great, you effectively have a free spa day whilst staying. The hotel is quiet and gated so feels safer than staying closer to the town.
Food in the bar on the evening was really nice, staff were friendly and the room was large and the huge bed was comfortable.
I was disappointed that the information we received about the health club was misleading (it said children had to be supervised in all areas) and we were limited to only the pool with our children. We were looking forward to using the outdoor hot tub, but it wasn’t to be. Also, there was an issue with gas in the kitchen so there was no hot breakfast available. Issues like that can’t be helped, but a refund of £17.50 for a family of 4 as compensation wasn’t particularly helpful. And we sat for 15minutes waiting for the tea we had ordered before assuming the kettle must have been powered by gas too and then left. As literally the only holiday we had all of the summer, I was just frustrated to be driving home with that disappointment.
The entrance and surrounding area is nice and very welcoming.
Our 1 bedroom apartment was more 2 joined rooms with a tiny kitchen area. It reminded me of student digs. For £175 for one night it was disappointing. Breakfast was a disaster, they had a gas issue so no hot food. So cereal it was. Quite dated, no air conditioning and food only served until 8:30pm, so no good if you’re travelling and arriving late.
I have been visiting the hotel as a recycling consultant, so getting the chance to stop over was greatly anticipated and it did not disappoint, great staff, great setting and a wonderful breakfast.
Nice and clean, good sized bed, spacious room, hot tub and Sunna were great, relaxing atmosphere.
No lifts, I use a walking stick. A little far from town.
The customer service left a lot to be desired. Jeremy was at the reception when I arrived. He was flippant to start with, I paid the outstanding balance on my credit card, and then he refused to give me a receipt for it. He then asked for a £1 holding fee on my card, which I refused, as I'd not received a receipt for the first payment. When the manager arrived, all of a sudden, I could have a receipt and the £1 holding fee was not a problem. He was argumentative, and this was my first experience of the hotel other than the website, where I couldn't pay in full beforehand, apparently. I have concerns that I'll get a parking fine, because I have no faith that the information will have been put in correctly. I was told to book for breakfast, when I asked if that was included, Jeremy shrugged. The room was outdated, had a lumpy bed, and the walls were very thin. So thin that I could hear the man next door weeing & the woman sneezing. I even said "bless you". On the last 2 or 3 days, the biscuits were not replenished, and on the final day, my water was not replaced. Honestly, for a "4-star hotel", it was a real disappointment.
Aside from the leisure facilities and good service from staff, I am unsure how this property has a four star rating. My carpet, bed linen and walls were covered in marks. There was a blocked drain outside my room so it was very noisy when it rained. The doors were also lacking a soft/quiet close so in my accessible room on the ground floor I was troubled by the noise of doors slamming constantly. The breakfast offering was okay, but just that. My tomato was cold and had not been grilled, but the vegan sausages were very tasty. I was asked whether I wanted to add an egg to my vegan breakfast, which did not give me confidence that the rest of my meal was going to be dairy free. The staff were very friendly and helpful during my visit but I found the overall stay disappointing. For the price you pay, I would recommend staying at a Premier Inn instead.
Had a lovely 2 nights stay. The room was spotless; a fan was provided in the hot summer, free pure drinking water, hot chocolate, shortbread etc. Foods were ok at Sandeman but not that great at Foodworks. Had Chicken Ballotine but was too dry as if it’s been reheated. I cannot compliment Miriam enough. She’s so cheerful , full of enthusiasm, proactive, listened to my problem and had it sorted quickly. She made my day and she is definitely a gem to the hotel. As for the location, it is conveniently located within the university campus. Opposite The Management School. Just few minutes walk to the Underpass bus station. Glad that I chose this hotel for my stay. This will be the place to stay whenever I’m in Lancaster.
Everything was perfect especially breakfast
I liked everything
Lovely short stay. The staff were extremely professional, friendly, and helpful. The rooms were cozy and comfortable and the breakfast was superb!
The management, staff and facilities are of a very high standard . Have made several visits and the quality of service never varies. Miriam on reception is exceptional and a credit to the hotel. The breakfast especially the personal service and food options is exceptional. The bar and restaurant staff were welcoming and attentive and menu choices was varied and well presented. Overall the hotel rates the highest recognition. The location is also a major positive factor in regularly visiting the hotel.
No negative comments to make.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating.
I had originally enquired about an early check in, after being informed that it would be a £15 charge I declines and stated I would continue with standard check in. The charge was sent through before I could confirm we wanted to go ahead with no way to cancel it other than to inform them we did not require it. We were attending a wedding nearby but were required to be seated for 3.45 so we wanted to see if we could check-in early so we weren't rushing. Unfortunately the hotel attempted to still charge me for the early check in when we arrived at 3pm after informing them weeks prior that it was not needed. The service for Breakfast was quite slow but the staff were very lovely, the cleanliness of the rooms could be better. Especially the bathroom, some parts seem to be run down which you don't expect when staying at a 4 star.
Beautiful rooms, exceptional service and breakfast. Spa facilities were a relaxing treat
酒店位置相对安静。
早餐较差,品种单一,服务一般。
Good value for money. Convenient location, right next to university.. Excellent food (ate in the Bar area).
This hotel is definitely worth staying at. We regularly stay at English Lakes hotels. Clean tidy rooms. It's outside of the town centre next to the university but there's loads of buses (from the University underpass) with one coming about every 15 minutes. The breakfast is delicious. were vegetarian and its the best vegetarian sausages I've ever tasted. It's got a pool, sauna, steam room and an outside whirlpool. The gym is well equipped.
A good hotel where all of the staff we encountered were polite, efficient and worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. It was !!
An amazing hotel, staff were all so lovely, lovely food in the sandeman bar and excellent food and service in the food works restaurant, we loved it so much we have booked another weekend away here 🥰xxx
We had a great stay at Lancaster house. The staff were all very friendly and helpful during our stay. We loved the facilities at the health club, which is one of the reasons that we chose the hotel. Its handy that it is close to the lake district and offers competitive prices. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and quality ingredients. We stayed in an apartment room. The rooms were very clean, the bed was quite firm and a little uncomfortable (but thats just my opinion, as my husband slept very well). My only criticism (not really a criticism but more of a improvement suggestion) as im very picky and notice small things. Attention to detail, as some areas a little dated, such as curtains look a bit messy as not enough curtain hooks, some marks on walls, door frames etc) could easily be wiped off with a magic eraser (it is very clean though, I am just very very particular with finer details.) This is really only minor, but would definitely help with the 4* rating of the hotel. Overall a very good and enjoyable stay and I would stay here again. Thank you.
When they help us when there was leak in appartment they were amazing and fair to us
The leak in the kitchen
Lovely morning at the spa. Friendly welcoming staff, quiet and clean environment; thoroughly relaxing.
breakfast was excellent
Clean, friendly, fab facilities
Nothing
The welcome was friendly and efficient and the rest of the stay was great
Stayed for two nights over the weekend of the 7th & 8th of August, for my son’s wedding. We had a lovely time at the Lancaster House, the staff were excellent, the room was very clean although it got a bit stuffy due to lack of room air conditioning. Our room had two large windows and as we had great weather, the room got stuffy due to the sunlight coming through. A fan was supplied in the room which did help but some form of ‘climate control’ would’ve been appreciated. I not have a couple of negative points, the main one being the fact that we were charged £12 per night for car parking. I understand that we were charged because we booked via booking.com, but I still feel it was a cheap shot by the management, considering our party had booked multiple rooms for two nights. Some of our party received free Prosecco, car parking and a glass of port on arrival but we were not so fortunate! The other negative was with the outdoor spaces! On the Friday we went into the Sandeman Bar, for drinks and wanted to sit outside, sadly there were only four small, high tables and eight high seats for the whole ‘patio’ area. Why there wasn’t four chairs per table seemed odd! Furthermore the hotel we’re hosting a wedding and an engagement party and those guests were basically stood around in the reception area, drinks in hand, milling about pretty aimlessly, which made checking into the hotel a bit ‘messy’. Overall, I’m happy with my visit and stay, the wedding breakfast etc was tremendous, as was the bar service, entertainment and staff. The food was really good and I’m sure that, as a local from Lancaster, we’ll be visiting again to use the restaurant again.
Nice size room, and a welcome pack for our toddler was gratefully received. The breakfast was nice (we had the full English). Good selection of teas/coffee/biscuits in room with some complementary water. Comfy beds and the spa facilities were nice. I think it was great value for money especially as breakfast was included in the price
Decor is a little dated, and a couple of minor issues in our room - a towel that had been left crumpled on the floor and a random coat hanger on the curtains. Nothing major though. As others have mentioned, charging guests £12 for parking is a bit much but even so we were happy with the overall price
Excellent customer service, very comfortable bed, cooked breakfast table service & extra facilities such as the pool, hot tub.
Very clean in all areas, especially the rooms and bathrooms. Food was excellent and the bars stocked a good selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.
We booked via booking.com and because of that, we had to pay £12 per day to park at the hotel, which I thought was a poor decision by the hotel management. The outdoor areas were ok but could do with more seating. Only four tables and eight seats out from the sandeman bar.
Very pleasant and helpful staff
Annoyed at having to pay £12 for parking overnight
Lovely food in the bar. Friendly staff and very dog friendly
Liked everything about the hotel , fab staff , great food lovely spa facilities .
Npthing not to like
Truly dog friendly place! You do pay for it, but they clearly give a lot of consideration to actually making it an enjoyable stay with dogs rather then being made to feel like it’s some sort of inconvenience they are tolerating. Massive room, really clean, patio doors to outside with somewhere to sit. Breakfast was lovely. 100% will be back.
Paying extra for parking just because I’m booking through here and not direct is a bit sharp, but we’ll overlook it.
Breakfast over at 9.15 is far too early at earliest it should not be over before 10.30 and 11 would be expected as with any other hotel where it either goes on to 11-11.30. I was speaking to quite a few people who attended sports event at university and it’s for that reason they did not book hotel. Each morning we had to rush breakfast at 7.15 to be ready to start sport in Lancaster sports centre by 8
For the price of £125 for a couple it was good value. Food within the restaurant in the evening was overcooked and small portioned - not value for money. Otherwise would recommend the hotel
We usually go on a Sunday stay the night . We go swimming and jacuzzi etc all the staff are great . I love the breakfast clean hot plate with well presented food bacon eggs etc best breakfast by far
Room was very nice. Gym and pool was top rate
Long wait for a cup of tea at breakfast. Either sort that out or get a tea/coffee machine
Fantastic setting, great security beautiful location....lovely building and room was just great and comfy and clean
Flight of stairs to our room.... arthritis lol
We had a very enjoyable stay. The staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming and helpful. Although there is no lift, the staff offered to help us with our luggage several times, both from the car and up to our room. There was plenty of parking available, and the hotel is set in lovely green surroundings, making it a peaceful place to stay. We travelled with our two small dogs, who each received a welcome pack. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the restaurant served excellent food. The restaurant staff were also friendly and attentive during our meal.
The bathroom needed more attention to detail when it came to cleaning. There was mould under the bath handrail, on the sealant around the bath, and around both taps. The bathroom door was also dirty. We also felt that £30 per dog, per night was quite expensive, even though the welcome packs were a nice touch. In the restaurant, the food was excellent and the staff were friendly, but after we finished our dessert, it felt as though we had been forgotten about, as it took quite a while before anyone came back to ask if we wanted anything else or to bring us the bill.
We stayed here over summer and had a fab stay. Really friendly staff. The room was massive. The power shower was on another level. Really good breakfast. I would recommend booking directly with the hotel which was much cheaper than the websites and included free parking.
Sehr gute Lage etwas außerhalb von Lancaster, ruhige Umgebung, sehr viele Parkplätze, großes Zimmer, Frühstück war in Ordnung
30£ pro Nacht wegen des Hundes finde ich sehr übertrieben.
Property is fine satisfactory facilities. The EV charging was total confusion and the staff had no idea
The hotel is so dated. The rooms are tatty and grubby, the bathroom fans can’t be turned off and are extremely noisy, the beds are excessively firm and the pillows very thin. The bar service was slow, despite it not being at all busy. Breakfast was okay, choice was good and the service was quick enough.
Only stayed here one night but would definitely come back. Hotel was clean, room spacious, restaurant food was good for dinner and breakfast, pool was lovely and warm! Also enjoyed the spa
Really nice room. We had a free upgrade to a Residency room which was very spacious and comfortable and spotlessly clean.
The breakfast was a bit disappointing. It was absolutely fine if you wanted a cooked breakfast but was lacking in choice for a continental breakfast. I would have preferred more high fibre, healthy breakfast cereals and a better choice of fresh fruit. The choice of bread/rolls/pastries was poor.
Great location. Excellent design and layout. Extremely helpful late check in and daytime staff throughout. In reception, catering, bar and leisure there were no exceptions to a can do and friendly approach.
Nothing
Can I take this opportunity to thank the staff very much for their hospitality during my stay 22nd to 24th July 26 I can thoroughly recommend this hotel for its cleanliness and their friendly attitude toward their guests. The spa was a very relaxing place to unwind. The food was excellent with a good choice available at the bar, which as a solo traveller I felt more comfortable in that environment rather than the restaurant. Excellent.
Pool
Pipe work that makes a lot of noise Paid parking at hotel when it is so remote No toiletries provided No air con
It's a great place to stay, it has the vibe of a well run hotel with a great meeting foyer and attentive staff.
Nothing.
Breakfast was excellent and location was great just off the M6 so great for going to a lot of places on the west coast ie Blackpool,Morecambe,Southport,Liverpool
Nothing
Atmosphere,bar food and spa.
I'm good
Convenience of Location. Immediately adjacent to the University is ideal for visiting family engaged in University courses or, as in our case, being in attendance for the final graduation ceremony. Just a short walk onto campus.
No AC in the hotel rooms. The temperature in both our booked rooms was excessive and uncomfortable. Windows are wire tethered and impossible to open adequately. We appreciate that the UK has been enjoying a spell of good weather for the last few weeks, but providing a fan doesn't solve the problem, it just turns the room into a Fan oven, instead of an oven. Ability to control temperature is a prerequisite for a hotel star-rating validity. If you don't provide AC, guests can't control the temperature and the Star Rating is inaccurate and invalidated,
We had the most amazing stay !!!! Even with paying for parking … it was totally worth it ! Thank you so much to the amazing staff !! Especially the guy on the front desk with the cool tattoo on his thumb. We will be back and have had so many messages on social Media asking where we stayed … because our pictures were so fab!!! 10/10 perfect A+++ Catherine and Mathew Partridge x
Stayed here 30 years after staying here for our 1st wedding anniversary...we were upgraded to a suite, the staff were superb, especially the lady on reception...
Nothing
Location was excellent and perfect for attending a graduation ceromony.
Peak of summer and no air conditioning or ability to open window more than a crack. Fan provided but was not adequate and just blowing hot air around the room. No fridge within room which was inconvenient given the warmer weather.
Lovely spacious room with very large comfortable bed.
Nothing
Hotel us lovely and clean. Facilities and breakfast all excellent
N/A
It was clean, good location for visiting the Uni, and the food was great. Friendly staff.
No air con. Just a small fan that did nothing. Room was ridiculously hot. One of the worst nights sleep ever. I really think a four star hotel should have air con
Convenient location
Nothing
The staff were excellent. A real credit to the organisation. All young people working very hard during a busy breakfast service. Poppy was very attentive and hospitable (a future leader in the industry). Cole, Gio, Callum, and Vincent were all working their socks off and I had everything I needed. Shadi was delightful and I would love to see some Iranian tea on the breakfast menu!
The breakfast was a little expensive for what it was. The quality of the black pudding was poor. Apart from this, it was solid.
The atmosphere was understated quality. The staff were very friendly but not over-bearing, the room was very comfortable and well-stocked. The bar had good food and drink (even real beer!) and breakfast has a wide choice and very speedy service. A very impressive place to stay, good value for money and out-ranks many of the more expensive hotels I stay in for business - I just wish I was going back sometime soon.
The property was a brilliant location for the Lancaster University open day - just across the road to get there. Kettle in the room with choice of teabags, coffee and hot chocolate was appreciated, as was the filtered water. Breakfast was lovely if a little slow (for which apologies were forthcoming without prompting). Staff were great and professional ad arranged us a taxi back to the station. Would stay here again for a similar need.
No air con in the room, although windows had been left open so it wasn’t too hot and there was a fan to use.
Really comfortable and ideally located for the university
Nothing really!
Quick visit to see some friends, stayed the night, fantastic room, great facilities, fantastic breakfast. The staff were very helpful and vey friendly.
We got an upgrade and had dinner in the bar and breakfast the following morning.
The sound of the fan
Everything. Every member of staff was absolutely amazing, friendly, so helpful. Food fantastic.
Venue a bit tucked away and needed to drive to other areas but the plus side it was so quiet
The general ambience. The friendly staff
No central lighting in the room. An issue that was reported the first evening regarding some of the lights went unresolved
Great family room, very comfortable beds (best sleep we've had on our roadtrip). The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was excellent. We particularly liked that the hot breakfasts were made to order and the cold buffet was available while it was being prepared. We arrived later than planned so didnt have time to use the spa facilities but it looked really good from what we saw. Location very convenient for an M6 stopover, watch the average speed cameras between the M6 turnoff and the hotel! A great stay overall, we will use again.
Staff were fab! Nothing too much trouble!
