Very friendly staff, good location, comfy bed, nice pub
Excellent visit from start to finish. Met and shown to our room by very attentive staff and spent the afternoon celebrating in the function room. Brill service and well catered for
The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. The pub and rooms were really good and the food also.
The fact I had to pay an extra £15 on arrival for my dog when I had booked through booking.com and didn't realise that wasn't included in the price!
Handy for railway station and central city. Rooms clean.
The size of the room was fabulous. The shower room was great. The location was ideal and the staff were nice.
the room wasn't clean, it had been surfaced cleaned but not routinely deep cleaned. And we didn't get a service clean over the two days we stayed which meant the bins weren't emptied and we had to ask for extra towels, loo rolls etc. The breakfast was disappointing, what i ordered wasn't what was delivered and that wasn't ideal. The service was really slow and that meant i was late for the appointment i'd travelled for. We didn't dine in for that reason.
Great location. I have stayed at the Borough many times before. Comfortable rooms.
It may be trivial but a steak needs English mustard. This is the third time I have ordered a steak at the Borough and they have only had limp, tasteless Dijon mustard.
Super friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic evening meal in the restaurant - generous portions and beautifully cooked and presented by attentive supervision friendly staff
Nothing
Rooms were spotless, staff were very helpful and friendly, breakfast was good.
Narrow Stairs but nothing to be done with that as it's old world cottage accommodation
Great location! Very friendly staff. Comfy bed, clean room and great service!!
Great location in Lancaster. Although we had to use the public car park this was neither difficult or expensive. We had a large room and tea and coffee as well as delicious shortbread biscuits were provided. They also provide a shower safety mat which we really appreciated. Lovely walk in shower. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable as was the bedding. Although central our room was very quiet although I cannot comment for other rooms. It was nice being able to go next door to the Pub for drinks and meals. We had dinner one night. It was nice. The drinks selection is brilliant. Staff are lovely and very helpful.
Our Room (2) was "next door" to the pub and restaurant. Whilst this was not a problem for us, some people might find this inconvenient so you may want to check when you are booking.
Lucy and Daniel exceptional
Tutto, pub fantastico all interno Roberto il ragazzo titolare gentilissimo e disponibile
It was very hot to sleep. Fan was not cooling us down and it was impossible to open the window to get the fresh air.
To begin with, the central location is perfect. As is the staff, the room and everything else about The Borough!!
Nothing!!
Friendly staff, gorgeous clean room, loved the bath, loved that I had my own entrance and the food in the pub is great too. Can’t fault the place xx
Just the stairs, I don’t like stairs
Frühstück a la card. Großes Zimmer. Sehr großes und neues Bad.
Sehr schmale Treppe und sehr weiches Bett.
Would have liked a bit more flexibility from the staff when I turned up on the wrong evening. No rooms available I was told, so save losing the reservation I drove home to Glasgow & returned the following evening. Had they given me the opportunity to rebook @ no extra cost, I could have found alternative accommodation for that evening &.returned to the Borough @ a later date. Won't be back on that basis. We all make mistakes, but if a hotel can't use common sense & reschedule a booking due to a genuine error by a customer, I certainly won't be back....
Very good location in Lancaster and popular bar with locals. We cycled there and didn't leave the hotel untill the next day. Stayed in for drinks and evening dinner.
Slight misunderstanding on my part with the booking and my bed choices and the fact breakfast wasn't included in the room rate.
Lovely staff, great room, great price, secure place for bicycle, great food.
They didn't give me a million pounds when I checked out.
I’m a regular visitor to The Borough & would highly recommend. Lovely & comfortable. Also in the middle of town so great location.
Sofa in room 1 needs to be replaced. Very old you sunk to the floor.
Great stay as always.
Nothing
A very comfortable room in central Lancaster. Wish I could have stayed longer! Lovely staff, luxury room.
Nothing - the Borough was perfect.
Centrally located big room nice restaurant
House keeping was poor. Wet towels lifted of floor and placed back on rail. Only one hand towel ,asked for another but it never came.being in street level we had someone knock very loudly on door , and run away, which made us uneasy.could also do with bath mat for shower.
The bed linen and bathroom were lovely and clean although the bed spread had some stains on it. The location couldn’t be better. We didn’t try any breakfast but there were excellant coffee and tea making in the room. Extremely welcoming staff and very helpful and enthusiastic about their city.
Stains on bedspread, and we got a parking ticket right outside the property, but not the fault of the hotel. There is a cheap council car park behind the hotel about 50m away but we didn’t know that.
Everything was "spot on". We will be booking again. Won't hesitate to recommend staying here.
There was absolutely nothing to dislike!

The public areas could do with a refresh. Very poor ventilation in bedroom .
All good as usual

Friendly staff, lovely bathroom. Exceptionally comfy beds.

Our room was far more than we had expected. Great location and really lovely.
We liked all
The property is very well situated, in the heart of Lancaster. The room was lovely and the staff so helpful and friendly.

We arrived early and were offered a drink while we waited for the room which was a nice gesture appreciated in the heat. The room was fine. We did not eat there so cannot comment on the food but it seems quite popular. Very good central location.
Just to mention the rooms are up two flights of stairs. We were helped with our luggage but this may be a problem to some.
This was a second night stay in the same week. Our room was nicer overlooking the front. Again did not eat or drink there so cannot comment on the food. Very convenient for strolling into town, catching the train, etc..
It was fine for what we wanted.
Excellent location. Staff extremely friendly and helpful, Food in restaurant very good
Nothing specific - be aware as an old property there are a lot of stairs but ground floor rooms are available. A soft easy chair in the bedrooms would be a bonus.
The lady who served our breakfast was great and very helpful
The evening we arrived was hot and one member of staff was complaining about what a tough day it was for her. As customers we don’t need to know.
Great room and lovely location
All was good
helpful saff
narrow stairs
We stopped off here on the way up to Scotland. Every member of staff we met was very welcoming and smiley which was lovely. It's a beautiful building, and our room was cosy. The bed was comfortable and the shower had great pressure. Lovely view across the square. The location was perfect, right in the centre of town and public car parks just behind the hotel. We particularly loved how sweet the staff were with our dog! When having breakfast in the morning they brought her some sausage too :) We would recommend getting breakfast at the hotel, it was fab. We'd stay here again on our next road trip!
It really was lovely, but if I'm being picky a couple of things in the room could do with a slightly deeper clean, for example the tv remote and carpets, but it really wasn't bad at all!
Breakfast was great and the young lady very polite. We have stayed at 'The Borough' numerous times in a number of rooms, with very few issues. It is in a great location in the centre of Lancaster within walking distance of the centre shops, railway station, and Lancaster Castle a great place to visit
The bathroom/wetroom in our room was adapted to cater for disabled persons. We found the floor to be wet over a large area after showering, something that we have not experienced before. The soap dispenser in the shower area of the wetroom was loose making it challenging to use. The room had 2 windows, one opening directly onto the front pavement and the second opening onto the pub courtyard/outdoor seating area, at feet level. As a consequence we found ventilation of the room to be an issue. The T.V spent most of the time Saying ' Aerial Cable: No signal' meaning that we were unable to watch very much at all.Our room was separate from the main Pub so whether it was a distance issue we were unsure. When we checked out at the end of our stay the young lady failed to establish if we had enjoyed our visit.
Great location, rooms large and beds comfy
Shame no air con but effective blinds to keep out sun
Large, comfortable and very clean room with a splendidly big bed. Wet room was great, though it could have done with a shelf for toiletries etc. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Central location staff really friendly, our room was very comfortable. Food delicious. Recommend

Absolutely lovely.
We would have benefited from air con
Great bathroom and comfy bed. Staff are friendly and helpful.
It could do with a lick of paint. The furniture and walls all look a bit tired.
Harry! Fantastic member of staff. So helpful and friendly. His service was second to none.
Friendly helpful staff and good food.
Very hot weather but no AC in the room. we found that very uncomfortable.
Very good location on Dalton Square so easy to walk to the Castle, Museums and shops. We were in room 10, the town house annex, which was spacious and quiet. Good breakfast and nice pub for a drink. Very large shower and modern bathroom, small seating area outside which was nice when the sun was shining. 2 televisions in the room, an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe and toiletries in the bathroom.
Only 2 hangers in the wardrobe
The location is great The bar and courtyard were lovely The room was spacious with a great bathroom and shower I loved that there were 2 windows in the room and a nice window in the bathroom It was a lovely touch having an iron and an ironing board, a hairdryer, and a fan.
The beds were absolutely awful. As well as being really narrow, they were so bouncy and creaky that it was like being on a trampoline all night. Also, there weren't proper sheets on the bed, just mattress toppers, which kept falling off every time I turned over. I also didn't think that there were enough towels for 2 people. Our room was cleaned after one night, which was nice, but I think the wet towels were just put back on the towel rail, so then we didn't know who's was who's. Also, 4 coat hangers for 2 people is nowhere near enough I also think that you should give each adult a separate room key. I found the stairs far too narrow and cramped. It was fine in the middle of the stay, but when we were bringing our bags up and down,it was hard. It was nice to have tea and coffee making facilities, but the milk let it down. Also, I think a mini fridge would have elevated the whole room
Excellent location, nice pub attached, great staff
location and staff were pleasant even though they were very busy serving meals in the pub
it was very expensive for what we got, perhaps if breakfast had been included it would have been a better price. Went on to the lakes and stayed in a top hotel central Keswick for only £15 per night more and we got breakfast and half price deal on nearby car park. Room was very dated and a bit musty.
Location and really comfortable.

Great location. Excellent, friendly, helpful staff

The location
•The cups in the room were filthy. •The cleaning staff were shouting outside the door about us still being in the room at 08:30. •There was mold round the window in the bathroom and peeling paint. •There was only one member of staff on shift so there was no one to show us to our room. •The physical key for the room was the same as the front door and top of stair access from the pub, so we didnt feel very secure in our room knowing it opened other doors.
everything was spot on, guests were extremely nice and helpful. the room especially was bigger than i initially expected.

It’s a wonderful place to stay! located conveniently in the city center - everything we needed in walking distance, with lovely rooms and the most helpful and friendly staff! Excellent breakfast! Will certainly stay again.
Good stay. Central location. Good size room

Great room. Lots of space. Bed was very comfortable!
Creaky floor!
Warm and comfortable room
Stairs to room were narrow and steep
Room was lovely and clean nice outdoor area in a great location
Would like to have seen a net curtain on window as people could see right in couch was quite low to sit on
The hotel was situated in the centre of town, perfectly.
Nothing....
Bathroom. Lounge space. Big comfortable bed. Private terrace.
Small thing, but getting smart TV's would be an improvement for some guests.
The location is excellent , right in the centre of town, parking a little expensive and in a local car park. The food wasn’t great but a good range of beers , and friendly staff.
The food wasn’t as good as expected and we booked an “executive room with a bath”. The room we were allocated didn’t have a bath. There was a lot of noise at 2-3 am from the night club across the road, although you can’t move the hotel , it is a consideration if you take children. Excellent value for money though for a town centre stay
Very friendly staff with lovely food and excellent location.

Location - centre of city Friendly and helpful staff Bar and food available - good breakfast Nearby car park
No windows to open on a hot day Instructions for car parking electric charging were out of date - the charge points were no longer in use In room toiletries need checked for refill
Room was beautiful - very well appointed. Beds were super comfy. Staff were very friendly and helpful - especially Kiera. Breakfast and dinner at the hotel were also great. Everything we wanted to see was walkable from this location.

Friendly staff,location brilliant
Room was nice but could here other guests, not quiet enough, couldn't open window, smoke alarm illuminated in the dark.
Lovely central town location. Friendly and helpful staff.
Room was great. Shared areas could do with a refresh.
Great room with a little living space. Comfortable bed.

The hotel room was clean, spacious and staff were helpful and friendly. It was located around several bars and restaurants. It was also closely located to the Nicky Nook hike route, which we walked.
The room was a little warm and the heating/ air con was not easy to use
Breakfast was superb - rather surprising!
Lovely place!
Good Atmosphere
Location
The room was nice and spacious though couldn't keep the window though that might have been because of the style of window. We did eat in the hotel - the food was very good, however we did have to wait a long time to get our food, though they did have a big group of people booked in one room upstairs.
Liked all of the experience - however just a bit frustrating had to wait so long for our food, though the staff did reduce our bill and provided a free drink for us each. I would still eat at the hotel again as it was very good.
Brilliant room and breakfast and helpful staff
