It was a clean, beautiful property with a close proximity to the main area in Galway city where people go out
There was no Air Conditioning, which required you to open a window to cool the room. At night, many people would walk by on the street making noise making it difficult to sleep.
Excellent location, two minutes walk to Eyre Square. Very clean. Friendly, helpful staff. Beautifully redecorated lobby and bar. Parking available too.
Property had beautiful charm and architecture. Our room was huge and incredibly clean. Location was fabulous and staff were lovely. Our baby was unwell and needed antibiotics however our room didn’t have a fridge, staff were extremely accommodating and were able to provide us a small fridge. Car park was well sized, free and we had the ability to double park with valets able to move cars around so never had to find street parking. We couldn’t fault the stay at all! Would return and absolutely recommend.

Location and staff
Deluxe room had nothing deluxe about it. 5 ft bed, small bath towels and dreadful pillows. No hand lotion, no bathrobes or slippers. Disappointing.
Clean and comfortable, great location, private parking and helpful staff. The highlight was the traditional Irish band playing in the bar at night.
Nothing
It was a fantastic place to stay in Galway. The location was walking distance to lots of restaurants and pubs and downtown square. It was great to have parking on site. And great Irish music one night in the bar.
The washroom in our room could use updating. It was an accessible washroom but not ideal for people with no mobility issues. The shower for instance was at a strange position for most people.

Parking location, and proximity to town center
Nothing
Great location for walking the city.
Hotel was centrally located within an easy walk to Shop Street and many eatery’s. Staff was friendly and parking was available. We will stay at the Western on our next trip to Ireland.
Lekker stil.

Beautiful decor;, tastefully restored; spotless;; tranquil; friendly staff; excellent location
Loved everything
The western hotel was a perfect place to stay for two nights in Galway. We had a car and they have a nice parking garage with an attendant who will valet if the spots are full. Staffed reception area and bar and restaurant onsite, my partner had to do a work call late at night and I was able to read a book in the cozy comfortable lobby during that hour. Room was well equipped (no face washcloths though) and while the carpet was a bit stained it felt clean and the beds were comfortable. Shower was great. Great location a bit up from Eyre Square and out of the town center fray. If in Galway again I’ll definitely stay at the Western again.
Location was great and hotel was comfortable for a one night stay.
It was all fine.
Bella struttura in centro città. Camera pulita e con tutti i servizi necessari, macchina Nespresso compresa. Personale gentile e disponibile.
Close to restaurants and the water. The breakfast was wonderful
No air conditioning
While the reception staff were friendly and polite and the lounge/bar area was very nice, the room was definitely not up to a 4 star room. I've stayed in far superior 3 star rooms in other hotels. The amenities were very ordinary. Only stale nescafe sachets and 2 tea bags, no complimentary biscuits, no bar fridge, no lighting over desk for writing or reading. The basin in the bathroom was very slow to empty. Buffet breakfast was very ordinary. Definitely overpriced.
Pulizia e gentilezza dello staff
Sehr freundliches und aufmerksames Personal. Live-Musik

Niente
The Western has an excellent location, close to Eyre Square and within walking distance of the bus and train stations and most of what a tourist will wish to visit in Galway. It also provides free parking with EV chargers. The hotel is a successful conversion of terraced Georgian houses. Our room and shower-only bathroom were somewhat basic in design but acceptable for our two night stay. Breakfast was an adequate if unexciting buffet, with some food cooked to order. Staff were pleasant but we didn’t test them much. The bar music was far too noisy at night for our taste but clearly popular for some. At c. $380 per night b and b for one, this was an expensive 3.5 star experience, but typical of Galway’s high season.
The location: if you’re traveling by bus(city link) from Dublin, this hotel is only a few mins walk from the bus station. It is in a quiet part of downtown but you’re not that far from all the action at Eyre Square.
Poor sound proofing and lack of AC but it is expected of older structures in Ireland. They, however, provide fans and you can always open the windows.
We were upgraded to a two room apartment which was very nicw for the three of us.
The apartment was adjacent to an outdoor area where a celebration was occurring. The event was very loud and went on past 10:00.
Loved the location, friendly staff, history, value.
Needed a fan or A/C.
We paid €467 for one night in a quadruple room, making this the most expensive accommodation of our two-week trip around Ireland. Unfortunately, it was also by far the poorest in terms of facilities, maintenance and value for money. The room was in very poor condition: cracked washbasin, damaged/chipped mirror, badly frayed upholstery, damaged doors and handles, poorly finished repairs and generally worn bathroom fittings. We took photographs of all of these issues. Our window also looked directly onto a service area with air-conditioning units and external infrastructure. Breakfast was equally disappointing for a hotel at this price level. Much of it had an industrial/mass-produced feel, with cereals and jams/marmalade presented from dispensers or individual commercial packs. Even more surprisingly, after paying €467 including breakfast, we were asked to pay an additional €3.50 for a cappuccino. Finally, we asked whether we could leave our car in the hotel parking for just one additional hour after checkout, and this was refused. We understand that Galway is expensive in August, but high seasonal demand cannot justify this level of maintenance and service. We stayed in many places throughout Ireland over two weeks, and nowhere else came close to this combination of high price and poor standard. At €467 for one night, we expected considerably better.
Could have been better
We spent two weeks travelling around Ireland and stayed in a wide range of accommodation. The Western Hotel was, remarkably, both the most expensive (€467 for one night in a quadruple room) and the poorest accommodation of our entire trip. The condition of the room was particularly disappointing for a hotel at this price level. We found a heavily cracked washbasin, damaged/chipped bathroom mirror, badly frayed upholstery, damaged doors and handles, crude repairs around fittings, and generally tired and poorly maintained facilities. We photographed these issues. The room also looked directly onto a service area with air-conditioning units and other external equipment. Breakfast was another disappointment. Compared with the breakfasts we had elsewhere in Ireland, the offering felt distinctly industrial and mass-produced, including commercial cereals and jams/marmalade from dispensers. After paying €467 for a room with breakfast, it was surprising to be told that a cappuccino would cost an additional €3.50. The service experience did little to compensate. We asked if we could leave our car in the hotel parking for just one additional hour after checkout, but the request was refused. We fully understand that Galway accommodation is expensive during the August high season. Our criticism is therefore not simply that the hotel was expensive. It is that the physical condition, breakfast and level of service were completely disproportionate to the €467 price. After two weeks travelling through Ireland, we had experienced much better maintained and more welcoming accommodation at substantially lower prices. This was the clear low point of our trip in terms of accommodation and, unfortunately, the highest price we paid.
Good location
Note that there is not one guaranteed parking spot per booking, as was advertised. After I had booked, I received an email saying that parking is in fact first come first served. We had to leave our car not in a space, and leave the keys at reception as they allow people to double park. There is not enough parking for everyone at the hotel so do not expect to get a spot. Our bathroom was also not clean, there was a large ink stain on the sink. Bathroom floor extremely slippy and dangerous.
Rien
Great destination. Spacious apartment with washing/dryer which was helpful
Salt, pepper and a bit of olive oil would be appreciated for cooking purposes
Good location, close to the town centre and the bus station. We stayed in a four-bed room, which was big enought, and the beds were comfortable. The staff is polite and helpful. It was convenient that, after checking out on our last day, we were able to leave our luggage there until our bus departed.
At nine o’clock in the evening, it’s almost impossible to find anywhere in the city serving hot food. In the end, we were able to have dinner at the hotel restaurant before it closed.
Breakfast was good,location excellant
Room size bit small
The common areas / public amenities (e.g., restaurant) of the hotel had been recently renovated and looked very nice. The staff was professional, friendly, and as helpful as they could be (they kindly gave us a mini fridge when asked). Location was good, and the parking was very helpful.
The price was very high relative to the experience. We were traveling throughout Ireland so we stayed at multiple properties in that two week period, and this experience was the least strong and most expensive relative to what we got for it. The rooms felt old and outdated– no airconditioning, the sink drained very slowly. It was also smaller than I'd expected / hoped. The cleanliness was good, but not great (I saw crumbs and hairs when we first checked into our room).
Very close to town. Parking a plus!! Did not have the breakfast but it looked amazing. Would definitely use again!
Cute hotel close to everything. The location of this hotel is the star. We didn’t bring a car and didn’t feel we needed one at all. We walked everywhere. They also had a room large enough to fit a family of 4. The staff were all kind and the bar and breakfast were nice. The rooms do not have AC .Reading other comments from the front desk they state they provide fans for each guest room. Though we enjoyed the hotel, I just want to be clear that fans were not provided. We called each night for a fan and they said they had run out. The windows only open ~ 1 inch so we were very uncomfortable in the room. We stayed in other hotels while in Ireland without AC and the use of a fan and larger windows made the stay comfortable.
Location, decor of hotel, ambiance. Nice bar and good staff. Breakfast was average but fine.
Nothing to say.
The location was great and the bed was comfortable
pulizia, accoglienza, camera, colazione, bar
The breakfast staff was extremely attentive!!
Honestly, it was perfect.
Location is great, room good
Breakfast is very basic, hotel way overpriced for what it offers
We chose this hotel because of the location and parking. It was a bit difficult to imagine how to access the parking, and Galway is full of traffic, but we followed the instructions and drove down an improbable sideroad to find big, clear signs showing the way. Once "underground" we even found a space, but the receptionist explained that if we had not, we could just park anywhere, blocking other cars, and let them have the key. When we came back on the second day, we also found a space but we were blocked in the next morning - and within seconds, the parking manager appeared and moved out the other car for us - completely stress-free. The hotel has lots of stairs and steps, so even using the lift, you will need to lift your case up or down a few steps. We had a room on the top floor, going round the corner of the house, i.e. a long, narrow room with a fantastic view down Prospect Hill, and a kind of area zoning (bed/coffee/wardrobe/bathroom) so you feel the room is spacious, tidy and welcoming. We had an espresso machine as well as a kettle for coffee. The bathroom lacked hooks or towel rails but the shower was really good and hot. The room didn't have aircon, so we opened windows (and had street noise which we didn't mind) - there was a fan provided too. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, the staff wasn't as friendly as the rest of the hotel. If you want anything cooked, you have to order it, which all worked fine but I was surprised that eggs is just eggs - make your own toast. I suppose it makes sense for low carb or glutenfree preferences. We took our own muesli as there were only kids cereals - the milk wasn't very cold either. But the yogurts were really good quality. Coffee (also had to be ordered) wasn't very strong. I was so glad I could go back to my room and have an espresso. The location and parking were the best things - and the view down Prospect Hill.
Excellent hotel ideally situated with secure parking. Food was excellent and the ambiance at the hotel was relaxed. Life music in the bar was an added bonus.
Location and the friendly and welcoming staff.
Room hot (July) - no air con. Room at front of hotel..so a lot of street noise..from 05.30. Breakfast very underwhelming...tinned fruit anyone? Overall I know it was high season but very poor value.
location
car park small
Posizione centralissima e camera quadrupla molto spaziosa. Area ristorante e sala colazione molto bella.
Amazing location with parking. Room was great. They have a lift. The staff were very helpful and provided a little fridge and a fan as it was very hot
The water pressure was very unsatisfactory in the shower No air conditioning
Fantastic breakfast!
The staff very friendly, place spotless and location amazing. Loved it will go back.
Nothing everythin perfect!
Very central, lovely staff & amazing breakfast
Quite expensive for 1 night
Additional water in room after 1st day
Great location
No hot water
Chambre propre. Parking gratuit. A 5 minutes à pied du centre ville.
Prix élevé de la chambre. Rapport qualité / prix très moyen.
The room was clean and comfortable, and we really enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was included, which was a great bonus. There were plenty of options—you could help yourself to a continental breakfast or choose from a menu and have a freshly prepared meal served to you. The hotel itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and spotless. The restaurant was also lovely, with a great atmosphere and excellent cleanliness. Overall, the hotel’s location, cleanliness, and overall experience were excellent, and we would definitely recommend staying here.
For future improvement, I would like to share some feedback about the customer service experience. While the hotel itself was beautiful, clean, and well\-maintained, we found that many of the staff members, particularly in the restaurant, were not as warm or engaging as we had expected.. Interactions were generally very brief, with little conversation, few smiles, and minimal greetings or expressions of thanks. Service was efficient, but it often felt impersonal. The exception was the receptionist who I believe was from Canada\. She was welcoming, friendly, and made us feel genuinely valued as guests\. Her positive attitude stood out and reflected the level of hospitality we had hoped to experience throughout our stay\. As visitors from Canada, we had expected a more personable and engaging experience, particularly given Ireland’s reputation for its warm hospitality\. A friendlier, more conversational approach from staff would make an already beautiful hotel even more memorable for guests. We also enjoyed the live entertainment on two evenings. One night featured instrumental music, and the other featured a solo singer. While both performers were talented, we had hoped to hear some traditional Irish music, as it would have added to the authentic experience of visiting Ireland.
Location and friendly staff, breakfast was very good
Parking was achieved but very limited
I like A soft carpet and a good bed ,close to the city center
In such an expensive hotel, I didn't like that there was no champagne or a glass of wine and strawberries
Gutes Zimmer Gutes Frühstück Sehr gute Bar am Abend mit Live Musik
Staff very friendly. Onsite parking. Location.
Nothing really
Nice clean place. Breakfast was very good; your choice of a hot breakfast with cold items on buffet. No frills for the room: no AC with a small window. Walkable from town centre but a little uphill.
Rundum gelungen.
