Clean spacious excellent customer service
Clearly popular with lots of guests
Room was clean and comfortable. Pool slide and hot tub a bonus!
I booked b/c of pool slide and great reviews of (hot) breakfast. Only discovered slide was open from 5-7pm when I checked in. Not a big deal, kids loved it, but had to alter dinner plans. Breakfast was only okay. Not much choice, eggs and bacon were cold and potatoes too spicy for my family’s liking. Waffle maker is always fun though. Nice choice of beverages.
Friendly staff, quick to check in and quick to check out. Breakfast was good.
Found a vape within the bed when putting g my children to sleep and floors weren’t that clean
Great weekend escape, with the grandchildren. Bright, clean, well maintained facility. There are no restaurants in the immediate area (walking distance), but many options available just down the highway (about 5-6 km away). Rooms are large and spacious. Simple, but adequate buffet breakfast. Great pool area - everyone loved the water slide (slide seems to be open only on the weekend evenings and mornings - I could never get a definite answer to whether it is open during the week, even in the summers - could be, possibly, depends on management, etc. - someone should definitely give front desk a solid response for this question).
The breakfast was a fair diverse range of different foods and prepared well
The lack of blocking out light with curtains in the room
Everything was perfect
Nothing
Great for families and loved the breakfast .
The pool is smaller than the picture shows. Hallways can be noisy if you have teams staying over.
Breakfast food selection was good.
Only one side of the king sized bed was accessible. You could not walk between the king sized bed and the window. The mattress protector for the sofa bed was too small, with broken straps and kept shifting around under the fitted sheet. Large gap under hotel room door meant all hallway noise came into the room - at times sounded like there was no door at all. Breakfast selection was great but it was all served on disposable plates with disposable cutlery, such an incredible amount of waste.
Nothing
Extremely rude staff Manager and front desk. I left and cancelled my reservation and was willing to pay the charge due to the way they spoke to me. I have travelled all over the world and this is the first time I have ever done this. I booked at a hotel across the way at Staybridge. Better value friendly staff better facilities nicer rooms. I recommend check out that place before wasting your money
Everything was nice
That we had to leave
J’avais réservé cet hôtel spécialement pour sa piscine, malheureusement en réparation. Le prix restant le même, soit assez élevé, c’est tout de même décevant
Hotel was nice abd comfortable, staff was nice and breakfast was really good.
Only problem was pool not being in service. We stayed specifically for that. So hopefully it is up and running soon as we are back in July.
Comfy beds and pillows. Quiet room. Great parking. Coffee and water available 24/7
Shower wasn’t great, not much power. Breakfast satisfactory but perhaps some more fruit could be available.
The breakfast was good with a wide selection of self-serve hot and cold items. There were three different types of eggs and two accompanying breakfast meats.
There was nothing that I would comment on negatively. Everything in my room and the facilities were more that satisfactory.
The breakfast was good, lots of parking
Each night we noticed the water heaters were turned off hence room could only ring out cold water which was uncomfortable to bath. I complained my second night and was told the heater will work in the morning which it did. But the day i was checking out I had an early morning flight from Pearson international and around 430am I just couldn’t shower cos the water was dead cold. Why would a Marriott be turning off water heaters. I just had to wear my clothes all dirty and just left. I won’t book this hotel anymore and it has left a sore taste in my experiences in booking luxury hotels.
STAY SOMEWHERE WHERE ELSE IF YOU EXPECT TO BE RESPECTED If I could give "Debbie" a zero or even a negative rating I would. I had a medical emergency at the 48 hour cancellation window and was in the ED (with my hospital band still and records in hand so I could offer proof). I let her know I am in town to convene sport because the regular Guelph local convenor is out of province to get to his ailing brother. My doctors wanted me close to home and were assessing if heading out of town was ok. In the meantime I tried to call to speak to someone last night (April 9th) three times with no success. It just kept ringing and ringing. I called first thing this morning and spoke to "Debbie" who is the "General Manager" (I know because I tried to escalate at property). I explained my situation and given my status - I tend to try to stay at Marriott properties and she insisted on not allowing me to cancel, a voucher for another stay (I am not in Guelph often so explained I was covering for another convenor only). When I asked for a manager and learned (in the rudest way possible) she was I told her that I would take care of it "another way". I called over to Marriott who, given my years of stays and status was happy to do so. In the meantime, while we were chatting Debbie - and I have read the past reviews and the glowing service reports so they have clearly not had the full management experience - put the charge through on my AMEX. I called back - and asked "Debbie did you put a charge through on my card"? To which she replied - yes we put through all "no shows". I then asked how am I a "no show"? to which she said "you told me you weren't coming you weren't coming". I never said that I wasn't coming - I said I was told not to come and was hoping to cancel. I then explained that as a courtesy due to my loyalty the reservation was cancelled and she SCREAMED "I don't care - I will just put it back on" and then HUNG UP ON ME! I have since called both my credit card company as it was illegal for her to put the charge through as a "no show" as I have until midnight to "show up"! - so not cool. I called Marriott customer service back and by the grace of god got the same customer service rep Mary back. She was as shocked as I was as to their property's "General Manager". We both agreed she has no business being in customer service and perhaps this is a franchise in which case - she has no business being an owner. While the other staff may be lovely - Debbie - you are a horrible GM and you need to get retrained (which honestly I am unsure that attitude can changed as its likely baked in) or let go.....Good luck to this location with that at the helm
Stayed here my first night in Guelph. Room was great and I enjoyed the gym in the morning.
I booked this property for the pool. No where on the website did it say the pool was not in service. When I arrived I was told this. I stated the pool is the reason I booked. The staff told me it’s on the website I replied that it is not he again said yes it is. I have checked the. Website again and no where does it say the pool is not in service. Very disappointing. The staff did transfer us to another hotel with a pool. That was greatly appreciated.
Location. Cleanliness.
The hours for breakfast were too short. Should extend till 10 am.
Pool and hot tub
Quality at the right price.
None
Breakfast was great! Hot and with so many options. Also the waterslide was a huge hit with the kids. Location was convenient.
The breakfast was great, as are the pool and room amenities. The woman who managed the breakfast area was so lovely, food was replenished and tasty. Our kids love the waffle maker.
In the suite, the linens didn't fit on the mattresses properly and were coming off, and the pull-out couch was terribly uncomfortable and there were no linens, despite our booking for an extra adult.
The grandkids loved the pool , especially the slide! Kuddos to Fairfield to consider the youth.Breakfast was substantial not fancy but covered a bit of everthing, definitely would stay there again.
The hotel is in a convenient location, and the staff was courteous. They also have a very nice breakfast. We've stayed here several times as it doesn't allow either pets or smoking which makes my allergies happy. No smoking and no pets should also make for a generally cleaner experience. However, two things on our most recent visit have me thinking of finding a different place to stay the next time we're in Guelph. Most disturbing were the bugs in the bathroom which was infested with both red spiders and silverfish. Our room was also located near the pool, and the chlorine smell was a bit overpowering -that wasn't a deal breaker for me but the bugs certainly are.
Everything
No restaurant
Everything was nice
No restaurant on the property
Loved the water slide, loved that coffee and tea were available outside of breakfast hours.
The chlorine in the hot tub was too high and it bleached my swim suit.
Good service and clean room
Nothing
Quiet.
Remote industrial location did not feel safe to walk around.
Very clean and staff friendly and happy to help
Beds a bit noisy but the only thing I could fault
Breakfast but no bacon
Ac in our room didn't work we had ants in the bathroom and our door entry lock was not function correctly
Everything was lovely from the friendly people at the front desk to the breakfast to the cleanliness of the facility. We’ve been here before and we will continue to return when we’re in the area.
Able to book an early check-in
Very clean and nice staff
Clean room Friendly staff Lots of parking
Clean and great location close to 401 highway … normal breakfast but too much salt in the eggs and sausages patties were over cooked to much and tasted like a rock .. coffee was great !!!
It was too pricey for a nightly stay .. need to drop the price that is affordable… $292.09 for one night is not acceptable - I left and went to Best Western plus and got a fantastic room rate for 164.00 tax included and I booked it for a week … you could have had me for a whole week if your price was comparable to the Best Western Plus
Everything was wonderful staff were amazing and overall a great experience definitely will be coming back
Clean Room
Nice hotel, recommend for family travel.
Hot water took several minutes to come to a comfortable temp-cool at first for several minutes.
Everything was great! Thank you
Marriott property but this hotel is being run on a shoestring budget. Staff was willing to help but: towels are threadbare; internet hookup was to one device only, and additional access put us in an endless loop (tech support was not able to find a solution); room cleaning service is every second day but after three nights/four days, floors weren’t swept, trash remained, beds unattended (desk manager was unable to “get me on the housekeeping list” so he came up himself and did a light clean); a roach type bug emerged from the shower drain on night 4 (I have video) which made me wonder where else they may be. So disappointing for these usually reliable hotels. Will reconsider my Marriott Bonvoy membership in the future, and look for a different hotel to stay in when I travel.
This was a wonderful hotel. Everybody was very kind and friendly. It was a little further from the city than we planned, but at 12 minute drive took us into downtown.
Staff was friendly and professional.
Shopping near by, easy excessto the highway. Very quiet
Quality of service was fantastic
Clean and comfortable. Room was not ready for a 3 pm check in.
Cleanliness,fresh. breakfast was excellent!
Location on a highway.
Nice entrée; rooms are nice and spacious; bathroom had full bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
Staff were incredibly helpful and nice. Especially at pointing us in the right direction for food options as the immediate area is sparse (Town’s Heart Indian nearby was very good though). Only slight negative was that the water pressure could have been a bit better. It wasn’t horrible but I like a more firm blast.
The people at the front desk are very kind and helpful .
Water cooler in gym needs to be fixed please .
Breakfast should be served until 10am.
Marriott's are usually comfortable and this was no exception. Room was clean and the beds were comfortable.
Always dislike the Marriotts forced tv box that never works when trying to switch to my own streaming device on the provided hdmi port. Would choose other hotels over this if I could for this reason alone.
Will stay here again
There was no hot water. For such a large, expensive hotel you would assume there is hot water available for a shower. We let the water run for 10 minutes and the water was literally still ice cold. When we told the manager at the front desk, we were told that we must let the shower run for at least 15 minutes before you get hot water because the hotel is busy. When mentioned that it didn't make any sense, if everyone in the hotel is running the water for 15 minutes - how does it suddenly get hot, that is not how water heaters work, I was met with a very rude response. I do not recommend this hotel at all - completely overpriced and downright rude customer manager. Stay away.
Review of Fairfield Marriott Guelph I don’t usually write reviews, but since I travel with kids, I find it helpful to know what to expect. There were both positives and negatives during our stay. First impressions were mixed — some staff could have been more welcoming. We went down for breakfast shortly after 9, and it was already being cleared away. Thankfully, one staff member kindly offered my kids some fruit and cereal and let me grab a plate of hot food before everything was put away, which I really appreciated. The pool was a disappointment for us. The chlorine smell was very strong, and the deck had visible grime buildup and pooling water, which made it extra slippery. The water slide was closed during our stay — one of the reasons we chose this hotel — which was a letdown for the kids. Overall, the rooms and hotel could use a deeper clean. The jetted tub in our room also felt like a bit of a gamble, as I know they’re tough to maintain (I even brought my own disinfectant wipes to feel comfortable). Overall, the stay was okay, but with more attention to cleanliness, safety, and communication about amenities, it could be a much better experience for families.
Excellent breakfast, very clean gym facilities.
Nice area for breakfast, big, clean , big tv and good choices for breakfast
All good.
Everything, maybe just the eggs should not be watered Down. All the rest is super!
The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We were not impressed with the fact they didn’t clean the the room on Saturday. We were looking for clean towels as our were still wet when we went to have a shower after a very busy day. The breakfast was very delicious and we really enjoyed it
Everything is excellent I recommend to everyone must stay this hotel
The water slide is super nice and my son e joy it a lot! The breakfast is good! The staff are so friendly and welcome!
The bed is comfortable, but when I shift my position, it makes a noise, probably because the wooden bed frame is quite old.
