Wow what a place! I think we visited just after the high summer season and the vast, grand old hotel felt very quiet. We loved the onsen, and very helpfully you can buy patches in the reception to cover up smaller tattoos so I could enjoy the spa. The view from the big family room was just breathtaking, and we could watch the pirate ship go back and forth on the water, sipping our morning coffee on the window ledge. Caught a glimpse of Fuji on the last day which was amazing! The staff were so helpful and lovely, thank you very much!
The stay was quite pricey, and you're kind of stuck eating in the hotel restaurants which are also expensive. Luckily though they have a small souvenier shop on site, where we managed to buy a few snacks on our first night as we arrived in the evening. As we arrived at the nearest train station quite late we had to take a taxi all the way to the hotel, which cost around 10000 yen. So next time would definitely try and make it for the last hotel transfer coach from Odawara, check the times beforehand and book in advance!
Location , comfort cleanliness, friendly staff
We loved everything
Locatie is heel leuk, winkeltjes valt een beetje tegen, is daardoor “in the middle of knowwhere”
Great views of Mt. Fuji when the fog cleared in the morning. The onsen had both inside and outside pools. The property was beautifully maintained.
Dinner dining options were required in this secluded location. With a one night stay, we felt rushed to make a reservation at one of the dining locations and we had to decide what we wanted to eat before arriving for our meal.
La habitación era muy espaciosa.
Location is brilliant and staff was one of the best I ever seen.
This place is the Lake Como of Japan. Absolutely stunning!! A tranquil escape and the Prince Hakone is the place. The facilities and staff are Absolutely top tier. Like 6 star service top tier. Just don't booked less than 2 nights.
Nothing. Was a highlight of our trip.
Great location and free bus to motohakone!
Nothing. It was great!

I loved that this hotel has been left as a fabulous example of 1970’s architecture. Rooms are large and very comfortable. Views and grounds are spectacular.
I would have like more dining options, but the Japanese restaurant was excellent and the staff so accommodating and friendly.
The onset is great
It is an older hotel, the rooms are somewhat dated.
Schöne Lage
Alt.
We have been in 6 hotels in Japan and Korea. This was the most expensive one and the less value for money. Our hotel room looked old an smell bad . After 17.00 everything around the hotel is closed. No where to buy food or drinks,no grossary store .If you don't have a car you are stuck .
Location, atmosphere, cleanliness, friendly staff, food.
I loved it, but restaurants and onsen require walk to visit, if you have difficulty in mobility, you may want to consider wheelchairs .

The lake facing rooms and hotel grounds were great, the staff is super friendly and courteous, and the hotel is tranquil and quiet which was great for relaxation. Onsen was good. The hourly shuttle made it comfortable to get to the town, and they have a free bus service to Odawara station for those using the Shinkansen.
The property has odd restaurant timings and a very limited vegetarian menu/options. It’s difficult to find dinner after 8:45 pm or lunch after 2:30 pm. There are no restaurant options immediately outside either. The bar menu is super small. Compared to other “4-star” options in Hakone, this hotel was just average.
There are a lot of hidden payments during check out, everything is closing too early, open only in 11
Sala ping pong. Negozi e attrazioni appena fuori.
Nulla
The hotel is beautifully located on the shore of Lake Ashi and within walking distance of a Hakone-en lake ferry pier and the Hakone Komagatake ropeways. Very peaceful after our frenetic days in Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo with immaculate gardens and very nice Onsen. A very nice hotel shop selling snacks, drinks and souvenirs. Beautiful views of surrounding nature although sadly it was cloudy the whole two days we were there, so we didn't see Mount Fuji (not their fault - a quite common during the rainy season). The ride on the ferry (not the Pirate Ship) was convenient and close by. We also enjoyed the main Hakone ropeway over the Sulphur pools
it's a 50 minute shuttle bus ride from the Hakone train station which you need to book in advance. This adds to the waiting around and time to get there. The two specialist restaurants were very expensive and there are no local restaurants outside the grounds to go to. The buffet for dinner and breakfast is much better but still expensive. The bar was very quiet and expensive but drinks from the in hotel store were good value.
Location was good. They had shuttles . Very convenient and had rooms were nice
Not much
Fantastic location, onsen at site
Old property not maintained well, rooms had old furniture, stinky carpets, bathrooms need renovation
Lovely Onsen, next to the lake and beautiful views
Restuarants are over priced, there is a hardsell to eat at the restuarants at time of checkin.
The location is immaculate The service is commendable The Front desk is absolutely fabulous and the help and service they provide makes the stay even more great NADAMAN the Japanese is must try , not a set menu person so did not try the others Only thing is the limitations of the area of no availability of dining options nearby but the Free Shuttle to MotoHakone that runs untill 7pm is a great help Though there also you get an Italian & 7-11 which are open untill late and other places close by 5:30 The hotel is so great that if they arrange a good room service with options that cover all tastes one doesn’t need to move out only, 24 hours There is also a bakery and some shops nearby that are there until 6 Overall this is a place you would love to come back to The lakeside is picturesque and you just can’t get up once sitting and relaxing there , can see Mt Fuji very beautifully The ropeway just opp the hotel is as good or sometimes better than the main one Nothing more to be said , it’s a lovely place to say yes to The place takes away the limitations of time Hakone has
The location is exceptional, right on the lake and surrounded by a beautiful park. The hotel retains an ageless charm, blending timeless architecture with the serene beauty of its surroundings. We requested a room with a lake view, and it exceeded our expectations. The room was spacious, elegant, and very comfortable. The onsen experience was truly wonderful, allowing us to relax while being fully immersed in nature. The buffet dinner was excellent with a large choice of food.
Amazing view from our bedroom of the lake. Large room.
Restaurant was over priced and there is pretty much no where else to go as most of the town restaurants are not open very long.
Extraordinary hotel great service and fabulous view
Nothing
Prachtige locatie en fantastisch buffet compleet ontspannen in de onsen
Het zou iets moderner gemaakt kunnen worden
A lovely hotel with helpful and mostly efficient staff. We upgraded our room and got a room facing the lake and Mt Fuji. So special. Onson was good. Did not use the restaurants. Courtesy bus to and from Owafara was excellent. Forwarded our luggage from here, was waiting for us at our Tokyo hotel.
Although it has a few restaurants and shops they only get going later in the morning and close by 16.30H.which forces you to go elsewhere or eat at the hotel.
This is a grand hotel at the edge of Lake Ashinoko and truly has a view of Mt. Fuji on a clear day. We loved our delicious, beautiful meals at Nadaman Garden and the outstanding indoor + outdoor onsen facilities. Even the pajamas were very nice and included a jacket, which we needed since the path to the onsen included a path outdoors (unless your room was in the annex) and it was a bit chilly in the evenings. The staff was excellent too and provided great service.
The location has its pros and cons. The hotel provides a shuttle from Motohakone until 7:30 and offers another one to Odawara station with a limited schedule, but if you miss these rides, it was challenging to find a taxi. A public bus runs from Hakone-en but started around 10 and only ran about once an hour so we spent more on transportation even though we had the Hakone Free Pass. After booking the reservation in December, I heard back once from the hotel through booking.com regarding their restaurants, then I couldn’t get a response to my request for a dinner and shuttle reservation despite multiple messages sent through different channels over the next five months (email bounced, no response on Facebook, Instagram, nor through their rewards program at the Seibu Prince parent site). As this is an older property, there were fewer working outlets in the room and the USB extenders provided didn’t actually work. (I woke up to discover that my watch was not charged overnight.) The room did have a balcony but we didn’t have a lake view.
Excellent hotel in beautiful location - we even got a clear view of Mount Fuji. The facilities, especially the onsen were fantastic and the free shuttle bus to and from Odawara Station was a bonus. All the main hotel staff were lovely and helpful.
Absolutely wonderful! Wished we booked more nights!
Loved everything!
Great setting, lovely staff and excellent facilities.
The only issue we had was accessibility. Infrequent buses meant that we had to take taxis more than we would’ve liked in order to make the most of our time there.
We stayed here for two nights and had an overall wonderful experience. The room and the location of the hotel are absolutely awesome, offering beautiful and peaceful views right by the lake. One of the biggest highlights of the property is the amazing onsen. It is kept open until late at night, which was perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring. Another major plus is their transportation service; they provide a very convenient shuttle to Odawara station, as well as a frequent shuttle to Motohakone. This made it incredibly easy to visit the Hakone Shrine, catch the Pirate Ship, and explore the local shops.
The only real downside was the dining. There are almost no options to have vegetarian food in the hotel restaurants. If you are a strict vegetarian, you will definitely need to plan ahead or bring your own food. The staff at the resturants also were not keen to help here.
Nada
Everything!! This was my favorite stay in Japan. No complaints about anything. The staff was helpful and we stayed for our honeymoon and we were surprised by some complimentary snacks and drinks. The onsen was my favorite experience! The view of Fuji is amazing in the morning. Can’t recommend this place enough
We love the spacious room and comfortable beds. Good quality toiletries too. The onsen was good. A quiet place to stay zen and rejuvenate and recharge. The free shuttles to and from Odawara station as well as to Motohakone are much appreciated.
all good, would have been better if we were in the West Wing instead so we could see Mount Fuji from the room...but it is good enough, as we were lucky to be able to view Mount Fuji from the garden. Highly recommended.
Lovely location with great views of both lake and Mt Fuji. Rooms were good sized and nice amenities. Overall very happy with stay EXCEPT for our supper at their French restaurant. The food was at best mixed in quality. Great bread, very nice salad, very medium bean soup and not very good fish dish. Serving sizes were shockingly small especially given the high prices. . We have eaten at restaurants all over the world and again were shocked at how small the portions were. Perhaps the other restaurants were better and I must say their view was wonderful but overall I cannot recommend this restaurant.
Beautiful place amazing service
Restaurant a little overpriced
De ligging
Kamers beetje over de datum
Location location location Views of mt Fuji
Shop only opened at 4pm Shuttle bus started late. Nearby food shops open late
Location was fabulous
Bathroom size is small. Wash basin is outside the bathroom.

The amazing view on the lake from our room. The shuttle from the station and the hotel, and from the hotel to the town. The warm welcome & the wide room
This hotel exceeded our expectations. The room was very specious, staff was extremely nice and helpful, onsen was neat, including indoor and outdoor facilities and location is great, just on the lake, with a surrounding forest. There's also a shuttle to town.
The building was a bit old, but it didn't temper with our great satisfaction.
The view of mt Fuji
It was overpriced - breakfast not included - restaurants ordinary for the price
We felt very welcomed and comfortable in this lovely hotel. The location was beautiful and the staff were friendly and helpful. The Onsen was a perfect way to end each day after hiking around Hakone.
The restaurant prices were frightening so we didn’t eat at them at all. I was disappointed there wasn’t a casual restaurant with a more reasonably priced menu. Luckily the hotel shuttle bus enabled us to travel easily into town to eat.
