Wensum Valley Hotel Golf and Country Club

The hotel was very clean and the staff were soo helpful, food was excellent and any dietary problems they soon sorted out for me, i used the swimming pool while i was there and that was great and again all the staff were very friendly and helpful

The food was great value for money, swimming pool, jacuzzi & Steam room was great to use, sauna probably not great as heat was escaping.

Large groups of golfers noisy in restaurant & bar areas however its a golfing venue predominantly so not perfect for a romantic break

Staff were very friendly! The room was much larger than expected, with lovely comfy beds and a great shower. The fan was also a welcome addition and helped cool the room down significantly. The hotel/club grounds were charming.

We were only there 1 night for a football tournament down the road. Location was perfect, Facilities all seemed very good although we didn't get to use many of them apart from the driving range. Staff we very friendly.

The only negative was there were unfortunately some dirty pants left on the back of the bathroom door. We mentioned to reception straight after check-in who were going to get this cleared but unfortunately didn't happen and didn't know that until after midnight when heading back to the room. Reported again in the morning and staff were very apologetic and sent housekeeping to sort for the next guest. Didn't ruin the stay but nice not to be greeting by someone else's dirty grunds! I was otherwise clean so just an oversight.

Location is great. The 2 golf courses are not bad for a resort course. Challenging and not bad condition. Everything was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful

Even though the rooms have been refurbished they are still tired and past their best. There's no aircon and the fans provided are useless which made for a couple of uncomfortable nights

I was very disappointed with our stay at the hotel and, unfortunately, the experience was poor enough that we decided to check out one day earlier than planned. The seat cushions in the hotel were dusty, and our room was extremely hot and uncomfortable. I also ordered a seafood platter that was supposed to include smoked salmon. However, it arrived without the salmon, and I was then told that they had run out. Instead of asking me what I would prefer, the hotel provided extra prawns as a replacement. I would have expected to be consulted before changing part of my order. The breakfast was another major disappointment. There were very limited choices, and I waited around half an hour for scrambled eggs. In the end, I had to leave without receiving them. Overall, the quality of the service and facilities did not meet our expectations, and we felt that the hotel did not provide the standard of experience we had paid for. As a result, we decided to cut our holiday short and check out one day before the end of our stay. I hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously and addresses these issues to improve the experience for future guests.

It was really good, no complaints!

The helpfulness of all the staff and the smiley waitresses when arriving at the Restaurant, all were very accommodating. also the very nice swimming pool which was heated

The hot breakfast was the only thing that let this Hotel down, scrambled eggs were undercooked, mushrooms watery, fried eggs cold and dried up

Location ideal for visiting relatives in taverham and also for exploring norfolk

Breakfast ended at 9.30...a little later would have been better No lifts so if stairs a problem ask for ground floor room.

Rooms are nothing like what was advertised, awful smell , bedding smelt terrible . The fan for the room hardly worked and I didn't like that the room was so hot with a bad smell that I had to check out early because it made my 7 year old son ill.

The food was excellent, and staff very accommodating. Very polite and ready to help. The manager was really good.

The bathrooms need a little more thought, no where to put the towels as there's no towel rails. There's nowhere to put toiletries, as you accidentally cover the flush sensor. Toilet roll holder need to be positioned better not behind you.some of the dressing tables had no mirrors, not good for ladies when getting ready to go out, hair and makeup etc.

The hotel provides access to a full leisure centre gym which is not standard work many hotels, this allowed me to maintain my usual training even away from home.

Whilst cleaning my room was done to a high standard, it seems my laptop charger was unplugged.

Great views overlooking the golf course from the terrace and restaurant.

The foul language and the general behaviour of the golf players who during our stay had almost zero awareness of other mixed ages and groups of other hotel guests being around them including young children, totally unacceptable.

We go to a lot of spa stays, the first time here. We will stay again, next time we are hoping to stay 2 nights. Despite the room decor being old they were maintained well and we could see new carpets, new bed etc. Our only criticism was the spa area. The temperature of the pool and jacuzzi were lovely, sadly, sauna was not working and the spa area especially the ceiling needs work. My partner said mens changing room needs modernising .

Again only issue we had was no robes. Most spas we go to have robes, not a problem as we bought some ourselves although we didn't take them because we thought they may have had some.

Room was comfortable and clean. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Lasagne and chips of the bar menu was good. Breakfast was varied and good

I asked for a quite room, there was a wedding on so that did'nt work out, but nothing the hotel could do I suppose. Next door neighbour had television on loud from 12:00 and still going at 00:50. no answer when I knocked on door. Went to reception, Adam was able to switch off sound remotely and was very helpful, so thanks for that. Peope coming back from the wedding at 03.10, noisy and drunk was not great. I think still serving drinks at that time of night is unacceptable.

All my meals were excellent… the evening meal offered local fish products… the breakfast was lovely & great value for the money.

The lighting on route was on a sensor so I was walking back to my room in the dark until the light kicked in… I understand it’s for environmental purposes but it should start from 10.30pm as there are no windows to light your way.

Only two 3-pin sockets! (I did discover belatedly, after pulling the two single beds away from the wall there was another socket!) Only one chair in a family room for three pople!

we had a lovely breakfast and was so impressed with the quality of the food we booked for the Sunday roast and was not let down.

The room was small and hot with the fan insufficient and a tiny TV. The room shower was a good size but the hotel corridors dark and airless like prison corridors and many of the doors scuffed and needing paint. The breakfast was good apart from the lack of fresh fruit and it is pleasant to watch the golf in play in an attractive setting from the dining room.

TV too small for the room. No enough toilet paper and one day the bathroom bin wasn't emptied hence the toilet paper wasn't replaced.

We wanted an early check in and staff arranged for this . Kind and polite staff with no much of fuss.

We had to take our luggage upstairs ( we travelled from abroad meaning lifting 23 kilos suitcase up the stairs along with other luggage’s ). This may not be an issue for locals but help was not offered despite requests .

Everything was spot on and reception staff very friendly and informative.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The facilities were great. The room was clean and big enough.

A bit of outside noise from 0430. I did have my window open due to warm temperatures and got disturbed by outside cleaning or similar. It wasn't loud enough to stop me getting back to sleep however.

This was a last minute booking as we wanted to explore the beaches and the roar kids theme park nearby - fantastic location for what we needed. Its a very big hotel with a golf course and a driving range and we had booked the family room which was very big! Enough to sleep a group of 5! Rooms were clean and had everything we needed -ample towels, beds, fans for the heat, soap and shampoo etc. The staff were great - all very welcoming and kind. Will definitely be staying here again and I would recommend.

Check in and check out was seemless. Shower was good.

Bed and pillows were really uncomfortable. The decor of the room was old and tired which didn't go with the modern bathroom. The room has no acoustic insulation and i was unlucky enough to have noisy neighbours that talked through the night coupled with the uncomfortable bed and pillows, I left the hotel more tired than when I arrived.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

The hotel would benefit from a make over.
