Service and staff were very helpful. All friendly and ready to offer help. Room was cleaned daily and promptly. I loved the lap pool, not the dinky hotel pools for children to horse around in, but there for people who love to swim. They listen to your needs and requests and happily oblige.

The windows are splattered with muddy rain, which may be out of their control depending on what day of the week they may get their windows cleaned, but it affected the view. Some of the fixtures are worn out. And what's with Newsmax on TV, that was a turn off on my opinion.

We ordered room service delivery for guacamole and chips. EASY right? It was terrible, especially for 20 bucks..store bought guacamole mixed with water to look fresh. The salsa was also horrible, bottled salsa, looks like it was blended to make it seem fresh. I mean they have avocado toast on the menu, but they can’t make fresh guacamole!, It takes the little things to make your hotel elite…..and this was bad.

What may seem to be trivial is in fact one of the many things that makes the Intercontinental San Francisco Howard Street stand above its competitors in the hotel industry. Most hotels give you 1 or 2 complimentary bottles of water, usually at check-in. Here you not only get the “obligatory” complimentary bottles of water at check-in, but as many as you want throughout your stay. This “perk” is NOT AT ALL TRIVIAL!!! During my 5 day stay with the many exciting things to do and see around San Francisco I usually returned to the hotel not only exhausted but dehydrated and VERY THIRSTY! To be greeted by the bellman (Dorian and John are exceptional at their job as they have most of the answers to the many questions from travelers!) with SEVERAL BOTTLES OF WATER after each trip was SO APPRECIATED. Front desk attendants (Gina in particular) always greeted me with a smile and were very courteous and professional in addressing whatever needs I had. The food at the 888 Bistro restaurant near the lobby of the hotel did not disappoint. I had the 888 Burger, the Pulled Pork sandwich and the smoked salmon on bagel for various meals, all of which were incredibly delicious and filling. Waiters Sergio (what a WEALTH OF INFORMATION THIS GENTLEMAN IS!!!), Marco and Enrique were all exceptionally polite and professional and it was apparent they were experts in the restaurant hospitality industry. The lap pool was the longest uninterrupted swimming experience I have ever had at ANY hotel and the hot tub was perfect! The location of this hotel is perfect as it is within walking distance to many commuter stations (BART, trolley, train, etc.) as well as groceries (Target) and a 50’s diner (Mel’s Drive-in). To General Manager Frederick Kleisner II and your entire staff, KUDOS FOR PROVIDING SUCH AN EXCEPTIONAL TRULY CUSTOMER APPRECIATION EXPERIENCE TO YOUR GUESTS!!! P.S. EVEN THE VIEWS FROM THE BATHROOMS ARE SPECTACULAR!!!

location is perfect. the hotel has all the right amenities and a nice design.

the beds are not great -- the overlayer put over the mattress makes the whole bed sort of collapse. its soft in a not good way and terrible for back and posture. did not sleep very well. i would change hotels only for this. Breakfast buffet needs more vegetables.

The room that i stayed in was wonderful and had an amazing view, the location was optimal for traveling around the city with lots to do near by.

My room did have some scraps of trash and signs of old water left in the coffee machine that i found a little gross… i think if they made sure there was no debris and that the coffee machine and facilities were cleaned a little better i would’ve had a better experience.

I spent several nights at the InterContinental San Francisco on Howard Street and came away with mixed feelings. This is an average to slightly above-average downtown convention hotel. It does some things well, but it also falls short of what I'd expect from the InterContinental brand or any comparable 4-star or 5-star hotel. The biggest positive was the staff. Without exception, every employee I encountered was polite, professional, friendly and genuinely helpful. If I owned or managed a hotel, these are exactly the kinds of people I would want to represent my property. The service attitude was consistently excellent. The shortcomings weren't the people. They were the product itself and the amenities. The hotel opened in the mid-2000s, and it feels frozen in that era. Walking through the lobby is like stepping back into 2006 or 2008. The design is generic, the lobby bar concept feels dated, and the entire property is showing its age. Guest rooms have visible wear and tear on the furniture, stained seating, tired finishes and bathrooms that need far more attention than they've received. My first room had extensive mold in the walk-in shower. This wasn't something that appeared overnight — it reflected a housekeeping or maintenance issue that had clearly been ignored for some time. I requested a room change and moved the following day. Unfortunately, the second room wasn't perfect either. There was a significant amount of hair in the shower, the sitting chair had heavy stains (use your imagination), and it appeared the bedding had not been changed after the previous guest checked out. After I raised these issues, management promised me the "star treatment" from housekeeping. To their credit, the remainder of my stay was spotless. The problem is that it should have been that way from the beginning. Turndown service was provided each evening, which I appreciated and helped elevate the experience. Arrival and departure also lacked some of the polish expected at this level. At neither check-in nor check-out was I offered assistance with my luggage by the doorman or a bellman. There was no welcome letter at check-in, nor was I offered the option of checking in through the Club Lounge. The amenities also felt surprisingly sparse for an InterContinental. The in-room refrigerator was completely empty. The bathroom lacked bar soap, mouthwash and a dental kit. Housekeeping was able to provide a dental kit upon request, but I was told bar soap and complimentary mouthwash were unavailable. Instead, I was advised to purchase mouthwash from the gift shop. For a hotel positioning itself at the upper end of the market, those are basic amenities that should be available without charge. Even a simple request for a daily newspaper couldn't be accommodated. The Club Lounge was another mixed bag. Breakfast was better than average, although the coffee setup desperately needs improvement. Rather than providing large carafes of brewed coffee, the lounge relies on a single automatic machine that serves one guest at a time. It is extremely slow during busy periods. Evening service was inconsistent. Some nights featured hot food while others did not. Beer and wine were available only from 5 to 7 p.m., yet hard liquor remained available until 9 p.m. — a policy that made little sense. The selection also felt limited, and some of the sliced meats and cheeses appeared to reappear from one service to the next. Overall, I would still consider the InterContinental one of the better large hotels in downtown San Francisco. I would rank it ahead of the two Hyatt Regency properties and the Westin St. Francis. At the same time, it remains a noticeable step below the Fairmont, St. Regis, Ritz-Carlton and both Four Seasons properties in the city. This hotel has good bones, an excellent staff and a convenient location. What it needs now is a comprehensive renovation, better guest recognition, more amenities and far greater attention to housekeeping and maintenance details.

Beautiful hotel, great location, the room is comfy and the staff is very hospitable! Everyone at the reception made sure to make me feel home away from home. The service at the restaurant is impeccable. Looking forward to my next visit!!

This is a very pleasant and comfortable hotel with top-notch rooms and service. Extremely clean and well and comfortably furnished. I have stayed over the years in all of the best hotels in San Francisco (Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, Palace, all the Hyatts, etc.) and this is my choice among them. Stayed there night before last and needed a cab. There was a gentleman standing by the front door, apparently a member of the staff, whom I asked to get me a cab. He immediately asked someone to call one, and accompanied us to the curb to wait. Turns out, he is the General Manager of the hotel, and was a very nice fellow, indeed. How often to you get that level of commitment to service from the top management? BTW, if you travel as much as we do, you will appreciate that the concierge is a member of Clef D'or. All in all, my favorite in SF. Highly recommended

This stay has set the bar for all my future hotel stays. And I want to give a shout out to Dorian. He went above and beyond to help us get our luggage and navigate the hotel. He is a key reason we had a amazing stay and trip.

My husband and I stayed at the InterContinental San Francisco for two nights to celebrate my birthday over the 4th of July weekend, and we had a wonderful experience. The location is perfect for both business and leisure travelers, being just a short walk from the Moscone Center and Union Square. Our room was spacious, modern, and impeccably clean, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning city and bay views. We booked through the Amex Platinum Hotel Collection, and as an IHG Platinum member, I was pleased to be upgraded to the top floor (the 33rd). The views of the city and the bay from up there were truly amazing. We also really enjoyed the heated pool and jacuzzi. We live just 30 minutes outside of San Francisco, and we will definitely be coming back here for a Staycation.

Very smooth check-in. We arrived early and were given a lovely room that had already been pre-arranged for us. Everyone was super helpful throughout our stay. The room was very clean with beautiful views over the city. The location is excellent — close to the metro, tram, and bus stops, and there’s even a Whole Foods just a few blocks away. The lounge on the 6th floor was nice with good wines and coffee (the food was okay). The real highlight though was the bed and pillows, we’ve never slept better! It was easily the best sleep of our entire trip. We’d definitely stay here again!

Was one of the first in hotel at opening Feb 2008. It is as clean and unkept as it was then 18 years ago. The staff was very nice. The neighborhood has went downhill! Many stores boarded. Sad as this part of downtown was beautiful.

We got kicked out for noise complain pass midnight. I got my non-verbal son with me. I acknowledge the first warning. The 2nd and 3rd i tried to tell them that we’re in bed and trying to sleep. She told me they will call 911 if we don’t leave. I told them just give us 15 mins they don’t need to call the cops. And she was walking in the hallway back to the lobby instructing the security to call 911. I was shaking because i did not do anything wrong but they still called the cops. The police came and saw us outside our room with my son and our bags. I told them this is very traumatizing because they don’t need the cops to get us out. Cops left because they recognized that i am willing to leave on my own. We left the hotel traumatized the whole time driving back home.

Excellent value for money, in my opinion the best in the city.The view from the corner of the room, excellent cosmetics, and a modern interior leave the most pleasant impressions.

Absolutely love this hotel! The staff is always extremely accommodating! The room was clean and prepared. And upon arrival me and my guests were upgraded and given two complimentary drinks from the bar downstairs. Salah checked us in, and had the best attitude. Its so nice to have a home away from home!

I just stayed at this property for a 9-day work trip and wanted to inform other travelers about several ongoing issues with my room that significantly impacted my stay. While I want to note that the front desk staff was consistently pleasant and responsive, the room conditions themselves were not unacceptable. From my first night, the room was unable to cool properly. (My room was on the 22nd floor and faced West) Despite setting the thermostat as low as 65°F, the temperature consistently remained between 70°F and 76°F. Engineering was called multiple times, and while temporary resets made it appear the system could cool further (60°F), the temperature never meaningfully improved. Over the course of six hours, the temperature only dropped one degree. Engineering confirmed they were unable to determine or resolve the issue. On the fourth night, I was moved to a different room (28th floor facing North) after repeated complaints. I was assured the new room was cool; however, upon arrival, it was still around 70°F and never cooled below 68°F despite two resets that appeared to make the system cool further (60°F). Additionally, there are serious issues with the bathroom: * The shower has extremely low water pressure from both showerheads * The water temperature never reached hot, remaining lukewarm at best * The sink, notably, had better pressure and temperature than the shower These issues are unacceptable for a hotel of this standard and have made it difficult to rest comfortably during a work trip.

Dorian was incredibly helpful! I had a complicated situation with some of my materials needing to be stored in the freezer, and he truly went above and beyond—going back and forth multiple times to make sure everything was handled safely and properly. The entire team was fantastic, but Dorian really stood out, always going the extra mile with a smile on his face.

This hotel definitely has the amenities you need and it's definitely a beautiful hotel with some stunning views. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed the restaurant (albeit, the kids' menu definitely was grossly overpriced). The parking, like all hotels of this nature in SF, was very expensive ($90/night) with the only alternative option to park in the public lot nearby that looked exceptionally sketchy. We also felt that the location was a bit dodgy; I feel like this area was likely once more prominent and busy than it is now. After walking a few blocks, there were more stores and restaurants. It was also how we caught the tram to the waterfront area. Lastly, we booked our stay through the Amex portal. There was a lot of confusion on the hotel's part with this and we ended up being charged twice; it didn't get resolved until a couple of months later. Overall, it was a nice hotel but I probably wouldn't stay here again due to its location. There are over hotels in this price point that are in locations that feel a bit safer.

Just finishing a wonderful overnight stay at this property in the heart of SOMA. From Raive (sp?) and the rest of the accommodating valet staff, to charming May at the front desk, check in was smooth. We were upgraded to a corner room with a beautiful view of the city with a sunrise view. Comfortable bed, in room keurig machine, nice sized TV, high-end bath products all made this a luxurious-feeling stay. Housekeeping staff was quick to respond to a request. We were also provided water bottles and drink vouchers at check in (possibly a perk of being an IHG member). We used our drink vouchers for mocktails at the bar. Highly recommended!

the only give you 1 6 once water bottle that you have to refill in the downstairs lobby. or you can buy some tacky looking fitness water for 9 dollars. i thought the hotel was supposed to be nice. no mini bar either so your only options for non tap water are these stupid little plastic bottles they only give you one of and then tell you to refill downstairs

The doors were very heavy - they were hard to open and would slam shut due to the weight. When a door would slam from another room, it would shake the bed.

My stay at this hotel did not get off to a great start. I had recently been stuck in a lift and have been experiencing severe panic when in them since. When I arrived I asked for stairwell access to my room and was told there wasn’t any, which I got very upset and anxious about. I was extremely tired after travelling from London and felt terrible for getting so upset. Despite being an unusual request, the staff, including the manager on duty very quickly made arrangements to assist me. The manager was so kind and made sure I got to my room and then followed up with a plan to make sure I felt comfortable throughout my stay. They really went above and beyond. The rest of my week at the hotel was great. I was there for work, and found myself well rested the entire time. My room was large, clean and super comfortable. There were lots of nice touches that made it feel like a premium hotel. The in room dining was lovely and I didn’t have to stress about anything throughout my stay, which helped me stay focused on work. Each and every staff member I encountered was polite, engaged and eager to help. I particularly loved the gentlemen who set up in room dining for me one night. Great energy! A huge thanks to the manager Salah and the security who helped, it really is deeply appreciated.

The room is quite big and clean. The staffs are all kind and helpful.

1. The location is dangerous. There are a lot of homeless people around the hotel. 2.Everything needs to pay. It costs over 90$ for parking, and if you want to watch TV you also need to pay.

Hotel stay was great but chasing a refundable deposit 14 days later is not. Have tried call the hotel to no avail been told to chase our bank. If the refundable deposit was showing ou our statement I would chase the bank but it not showing.

Staff is friendly and helpful valet parking was an additional 80.00 but pd for it. Hotel room was very nice and clean.
