It need of a refurbish smells in reception
Very happy with our room - superior twin on ground floor - excellently located for our elderly mother with easy access to all facilities. Booked evening meal option and more than happy with the food. Breakfast was braw - only lacked a wee but black pudding!! Overall very happy with our two night stay and would certainly return.
Beautiful hotel, floorboards a bit creaky woken every morning with the people upstairs but to be expected of an older hotel, lovely big clean room nice and warm,
Do not stay here, i made this booking as a gift for my mum and her card was charged without authorisation upon leaving. I have continually tried to reach the hotel where the reception is never answered and the booking line say they can not help. I will be persuing this charge with the Fraud tream at my bank. Absolutely terrible to charge a pensioner with no authority.
Okay stay but the food at dinner was poor
Very handy for the Enchanted Forest
Really nice room, but could benefit from updating and some plug sockets didn't work. Other than that, the bed was comfortable, the room was spacious, food was good, and the facilities and location were great. No issues!
Lovely clean room. We did upgrade our room and got a nice corner room with a view. Dinner was amazing..3 course meal for dinner (roast beef and Yorkish pie). Fantastic
Lovely area. Very clean. Lovely helpful staff.
Would recommend this place. The village itself is an amazing place. The hotel staff were all friendly and helpful. The bar and restaurant were good and well priced. The room was comfortable and clean but the bed could have been better. Given the age of the building I thought it was very well maintained. The breakfast was fantastic and gets you through the entire day. The meals in the restaurant for dinner were good also.
Really nice and helpful staff. Brilliant breakfast and lovely pool.
The pictures of the room online do not reflect reality. Room was very tired and run down, carpets very old, paint peeling off the wall below the room window. This hotel is very run down.
Heating in room good. Bedroom clean. Gents' public toilets in hotel dirty, need to be checked more regularly.
The room is huge as is the bathroom. We enjoyed the sauna, pool and hot tub (which wasn't very hot) a nice way to relax. Had dinner there as well, the pizza was excellent.
Room not clean. No toilet paper, partial draining shower. No coffee - only an unpleasant odour. Thankfully the window opened and the bathroom fan worked. 1 star rating at best
Poor hot water supply for showering, had a tepid water shower, my wife didn’t shower because of water temperature, basically no improvement since our last visit. I informed reception and they both looked at each other and in unison replied O’ yes we will inform maintenance ! knowing full well the poor water temperature is a ongoing issue! Doh!
Excellent food and excellent service
Staff very friendly and helpful, the spa was a pleasant surprise, we enjoyed a meal in the bar, the location was excellent
Very clean
Good Spa facilities, quiet location, uphill walk from the town centre, lovely relaxing hotel will visit again.
Good sized lovely looking hotel. Comfortable spacious room (suite) but in need of a refurb overall. The fixed menu 'table d'hôte' wasn't great but the breakfast was excellent. Good service and friendly staff. A 10 minute walk into town. If you want to walk, turn right as you exit the front door and you'll see a path down to the road.
Reception area not always manned and you had sometimes to look for member of staff. Generally improved since the last visit but room for further upgrading.
Provided all that we needed for a theatre visit
High ceiling
Great hotel in an excellent location, just a short walk from the station. The pool and jacuzzi are lovely, and while the hotel could use a little TLC, it only adds to its charm. The breakfast was excellent – highly recommended. Thank you 😊
Staff were attentive and knowledgeable about the area. Leisure facilities were great. Room was very spacious although shower head was very narrow and felt like a hose rather than a shower. But other than that, no complaints.
The property is a bit aged however clean and convenient
Clean rooms. Comfortable beds. Pool was an extra convenience.
The care taken over adapting menus for my food allergies ( lactose intolerant and gluten free) was really so impressive and appreciated. A big thank you to all.
I used to work there 30 years ago and I don't think they have changed the mattress in that time, could not get to sleep in the bed
Love where the hotel is great location and parking was fine Felt staff were not too helpful at times especially when trying to get a soft drink or tea at the bar. I had a problem with the fan in the bathroom which made a terrible noise the first night I switched it on and then stopped working. I reported it in the morning and was told someone would fix it but it never happened which was not too good when having showers etc
Leisure not living up to expectations with regard to changing rooms, only two not enough. The hotel itself requires a complete overhaul, the window frames were not cleaned. The rooms are cold even though the radiator was on full. The floors are uneven in our bedroom and also the corridor. Found the staff very unfriendly, need training, especially the bar staff which made me feel like an inconvenience. We will not be returning, especially as we paid for two nights and left after the first night
A bonus having a swimming pool. Also the meals were very good/the 3 course evening meal especially.( Good portions /tasty and well presented.)All staff very friendly and welcoming.
very average dated hotel. Probably best for bus groups. Good location for the town
Had a great stay for me and my husbands 20th wedding anniversary, staff all very friendly, room clean and food lovely.
Decent value for money.
Rooms are very dated and don’t look like the photos, those must have been taken a few years ago. Our room reeked of smoke (even though it was non smoking) and had to keep the windows open to air out. We also asked for a room away from all entrances (which they confirmed was arranged) and we were put right in front of the entrance door to the corridor for all the rooms. Food at the restaurant was very mediocre, couldn’t finish my steak it was so chewy.
The hotel was in a quiet area of Pitlochry.
First off the parking in front is limited but offers a drop off and there is a car park across the street. Check in was quick & easy. The gentleman helping at reception was friendly and gave us the run down of the hotel from the bar/ restaurant and the pool/sauna rules. The hotel is very dated and could use some work. The walls are very thin and you could hear everything! The hallway light is left on and you can see it through the door to your room. Our hair dryer was not working, tv didn’t work properly and the shower head leaked causing the floor to get soaked. Front desk was very helpful with getting us another hair dryer and fixing the TV for us promptly. There’s a bar for getting in & out of the shower which is nice since it’s a pretty big step in. It wasn’t the worst but I probably won’t be back anytime soon.
Nice environment
Comfortable stay at the Hydro hotel, short walk to Pitlochry town centre, friendly staff, and nice to be able to take a swim during our stay.
Property a bit out of the way for elderly walking especially walking up hill to the hotel and very difficult to get a taxi if not impossible. Loved the pool and spa facilities very relaxing. Staff very helpful, welcoming and polite, nice breakfast.
Spotless rooms, delicious food and such wonderful & helpful staff, the place itself is really dated and needs refurbished asap, but your staff are fab x
As most hotels in Scotland, this is an old building. Our room was spacious and well maintained. Bed was comfortable. Walking distance to town centre and the dam (very interesting to see). Parking is ample and free of charge. Breakfast is varied. Loved they had some vegan options like porridge, beans, mushrooms and baked tomatoes. Also some fruits. Missed having a mini-fridge in the room.
Lovely hotel, food fantastic, very comfortable bed, beautiful views from our bedroom.
Could hear people in shower next door in 118 and also people in room above 119. Sink cracked and leaking on to floor. The hotel is a bit dated and could do with an upgrade. Superior room with view was a bit basic for the price and view was mainly the car park and trees at front, not worth the extra money we paid. Tv is a real pain to navigate. Staff were very pleasant. Not allowed to choose a meal from dining room menu in the bar area with a bar meal which is what we wanted. If I thought a bit quicker I should have said you have lost custom and I would eat elsewhere. Spoke to another couple who were getting charged nearly 3 times the price in the dining room compared to the bar, they went and got drinks in bar and took them through themselves. Seem to have some very picky ways of dealing with customers at times. Pool, sauna and Jacuzzi were nice but could do with a plumber to check the pressure in the changing room showers. Night walk on steps to go to town was very dark but on day we left there was a workman putting up lights which will improve the safety of people walking them. 4 disabled parking posts but you can only fit in 3 cars.
With in easy walking to the town main street and the shops and the theatre
Handy for access to Pitlochry. Not good value for money. Decor was shabby needing upgraded in corridors and rooms. Toilet roll holder loose on wall, window sash cords broken, paintwork chipped and peeling wallpaper, unsafe electrical appliance which blew the circuits in our room, yapping dog left unattended in a room nearby. Room condiments 'mean' - no choices. Staff fabulous.
Limited parking in front of hotel. Remainder in car park other side of road. Very rough terrain and not well lit at times. Breakfast cold. Limited choice for continental. Staff member informed us dogs allowed in any of rooms with appropriate permissions. No obvious signs of this on booking sites. Only 'dog friendly' which is very open to interpretation. Doggie bags on arrival! Shows their priority. Our standard room very shabby with broken window safety bar and very sloping floor in bathroom where making access difficult. Bathroom window not frosted. Very visible from car park & blind used at all times. Very disappointing. Would not recommend based on our experience.
Fantastic stay. Nice welcome from.reception staff. Room was fantastic, Superior double scenic view could not fault it. Dinner in hotel was really good, 3 course set menu. Leisure facilities was clean and tidy and perfect to relax in. My dogs were made most welcome. Grounds perfect for a wee wander with them. Breakfast was buffet style and had great choice of continental and freshly cooked. Overall our stay was very good with all staff being extremely helpful. We will be back.
An admin error and an inexperienced staff member unfortunately tainted our check in experience
Not dog friendly, too loud and old fashioned.
The hotel is very nice. Room was spacious, we had the standard twin beds room. The best part was the private parking!! The breakfast was good. Has a nice bar and lounge area. It has a pool but we didn’t use it.
Uncomfortable bed, lying on my side hurt due to how hard the bed was. We had a massive room and a tiny double bed. Hotel is dated. Around 2.30am there was music reverberating through the room, my husband went downstairs to find two large speakers plugged into an iPhone blaring our music, which he unplugged, but there was no one around. Shower was very hot and hard to find a balance between scolding and freezing. As we went to check out, another client was having an argument at reception, as we had to get going for our onward journey, we left the key without saying anything about the lack of sleep all night.
Nice friendly staff - good parking , - short walk I
A nice building
Staff good meals good reception and bar areas good restaurant area good but when you go upstairs to the rooms you see the difference rooms need upgraded our room was an upgraded room but not impressed rooms nothing like you seein there brouchers
Very nice hotel but very dated. But then again most hotels in the UK are in older buildings so the interior being dated is very common. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean; I was satisfied. Nice sitting area out front. Nice bar and restaurant area.
One night stay for business. Nice looking hotel from the outside , poorly sign posted . Interior and bedrooms looking dated and shabby in places.
Property needs some TLC. Well located.
The hotel infrastructure has definitely seen better days, thin walls means you hear the other rooms talking, snoring, toilets and water flushing. The cleanliness was good and the staff pleasant, but dingy lighting and faded fraying carpets and smokers sitting right outside the entrance doors means that the overall impression is not great.
It was fine - but the room did not live up to the rest of the beautiful building.
It was a nice place for the money.
Been there before still a good and friendly hotel
We were staying for couple of days on DB&B. Hotel is in lovely setting. Very welcoming. Although no a/c in our room a fan was provided when we asked for one. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Restaurant staff really efficient. Due to slight
Room was okay, but building generally in poor condition. Very noisydoors, loud music in dining room, dead plants In tubs outside front door, chairs in bar had grubby arms. And tables in very poor state. Staff were nice and food Okay.
Hotel was clean and tidy although a little dated. Breakfast was good. We had only 2 issues. Firstly no aircon or even a fan in the room. Secondly the window to our bathroom was carpark facing. The blind wasn't big enough for the window which wasn't great our privacy.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating, made us feel very comfortable. Room was quite warm during a sunny summer weekend, but they provided a fan upon request. Breakfast was good.
We have stayed at the Hydro several times over the years with our dog. However the hotel is looking dated, floors need repaired and rooms would in our opinion need a refresh. Also alot of the areas not directly in use were quite dusty and lots of rust were evident. A deep clean of those areas would be recommended. A really nice hotel to stay but in the future I think we will look to stay elsewhere.
Nice hotel , friendly staff. Food was lovely was highlight of stay. Shower not that great could be doing with modernization, blind in bathroom too small for window. From 5/6am the doors closing extremely noisy because of Yale lock on doors.
Excellent stay
convenience to the area we visited
Stayed a few times at Hydro , dog friendly hotel with lovely grounds and great location
Very tired hotel, poor service beyond reception and no flexibility to guest needs or requirements given at all. I asked at the bar if I could eat outside at 8.35/40pm ish after letting the receptionist know how hungry we were after a long days drive. The bar said yes but then when I asked for a menu in the same minute said no the kitchen closed at 8.15pm. He offered me a local takeaway menu or a bag of crisps. After serving me a drink a lady approached the bar and asked if she could order deserts - he took her order. Will not be revisiting as my mid way stop on my next trip to the highlands. Such a shame after such high hopes from Pitlochry. Just a really unpleasant experience.
It is an older hotel, but very comfortable. Room was spacious. Staff friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was very good. Easy walk to a variety of restaurants and a well stocked liquor store for anyone shopping for malt whisky. Good value.
Good breakfast clean
Room was outdated, squking floor, hard mattress, low water pressure in the bath.
Very dated
The room was spacious, as was the bathroom. We found the building to be relatively quiet, considering it's an older property. While some areas were a bit tired, this didn't take away from the overall quality of our stay, with the attentiveness of the staff, definitely helping.
All good, no complaints we would go back.
We loved our room, number 110 and all the facilities, for me particularly the pool, sauna and spar. All the staff were very friendly and efficient.
Decor a bit dated but clean and tidy. Building looked good from outside. Grounds were needing tidied up and were not very well maintained. Planters at front needed watered and tidied up. Room was spacious and had good views from windows. Only one window opened. Bed was comfortable and shower and toilet was good. Food was excellent for breakfast and dinner. Set menu gave a good choice. Staff were friendly pleasant and helpful We enjoyed our stay!
Clean, spacious room but stained carpet which isn't what I like to see on entering a room. Obviously an old hotel which does have areas which need updating. Reception area needs to be updated too and first impressions on entering were a tired hotel. Breakfast was hot with a variety of choice.
Breakfast good deal and lots of choice. Pool a great extra. Welcoming for pets. Beds comfortable and clean.
Really nice old building . Perfect for a quiet break. Rooms could do with a wee freshen up but would not put me off going back. Had a great room with amazing views . Good selection for breakfast. Staff all good
Hotel served its purpose. Decor is dated but breakfast was excellent.
Nice exterior looking property walkable to town. Room was very basic, with few amenities. Interior shows its age but is charming for what it is. Breakfast was nice and worth the extra cost. Would stay again but would look for upgraded room.
The staff at the hotel are lovely, the breakfast was good, the gym/pool facilities were good. Parking at the hotel was excellent - the only downside is that the hotel is in need of a refurbishment - carpets in public areas are threadbare and patched, within the room they were stained and wrinkled and the bathroom could have done with an update but all in all it was an ok stay
Very Disappointed. Tired, worn down surroundings. Dull colours, worn carpets, and generally not very welcoming. Room was drab, two wee windows (one didn't open) Couldn't get power at wall sockets but had that explained AT CHECKOUT -too late to find out-worked by second switch at door. Bathroom very dated. Broken tile. Came back into room to find a plumber repairing flush. Tho he was very polite I did get a fright to find someone in my room. Grounds need tidying and weeding
Enjoyed our stay. Great choice at breakfast and the 3 female staff were very efficient and helpful. Area round the hotel was a bit grubby and the inside was a bit dated and tired but didn’t affect our stay !
Comfy big bed . Very helpful friendly staff.
The bed was hard like concrete. It was so small and we could not even turn to lie on our backs, it was that small. We slept on our side, and it was so hard.
From the outside the hotel look very nice. However inside it is very dated and feels run down and neglected. The bed was very small and hard. The room was very basic and looked cheap! We had a terribbke nights sleep and woke stiff and achy! The staff were pleasant. I would not recommend this hotel.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Really nice hotel grounds, close enough to walk into the village, but far enough to be quiet and tranquil in the evenings.
Stately looking building from the outside. Check in didn’t feel particularly welcoming or friendly. Room was spacious but dated. Breakfast selection was poor and again staff unfriendly/didn’t want to be there! Shame as could be lovely but needs money spending & staff training.
A better atmosphere in the lounge could be achieved with a piano player.
The property is huge and quite run down in places but it can be seen that there is progress in tackling this so I wouldn't fault it.
Overall not impressed woth this hotel whatsoever. We cut our stay short. The hotel is outdated, dirty poor qaulity of food and the list goes on. Only saving grace the staff were really good. Hotel refused a refund. Does not match pictures or advert avoid.
The hotel is fantastic, so big and very roomy. Massively dog friendly which was main reason for booking. Pool facilities etc great for rainy days. The one drawback which comes with age, the floors are very creaky, you hear above and next door moving in room. If the creaky floors were dealt with then there is nothing to complain about. But even with that we would still stay there again on next visit to Pitlochry.
Friendly hotel, decent 3*. Food ok. Gardens lovely
