Our room / bathroom was 'cosy' so very small. However, we did book lastminute and the hotel was otherwise fully booked so for a couple of days it was fine

We had a really lovely stay at Trelawney in Torquay. Our room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. What really stood out to us was how warm and welcoming Liz was. When we first arrived, we actually found Liz down on all fours scrubbing something from the tiles — and we immediately thought, “Yep, we're in good hands!” It was a genuine little moment that showed how much pride she takes in keeping the place clean and well looked after. We appreciated the trust and flexibility around payment. It’s not often you stay somewhere where you aren't asked to pay everything upfront and are simply trusted to settle it in your own time. That small gesture made us feel very welcome. Although our room was on the roadside, we were pleasantly surprised by how quiet it became at night. We had no trouble sleeping at all.

great location close to the sea and shops and restaurants, friendly owners, comfy beds, a fan in the room which is very helpful in warm summer days, also the room is very quiet when the windows are completely shut (my twin room is facing the busy main street so could be noisy if leave the window open, for those who prefer air ventilation, please bring ear plugs)

the on site parking is very limited so most likely you need to park on the nearby street (it’s free), sometime when nearby streets are fully parked you may have to park even further away, but this is just a pure luck thing; also the water pressure in the shower is quite low so it takes longer to shower but manageable

Having to come home

The guest house was really lovely,perfect location,room was big,clean and tidy,only issue was parking but we found a place on a side street which is free and unrestricted so was perfect,left car there for 5 days with no issue at all, Liz was lovely, we had a great stay X

Extremely friendly hosts, Paul and Liz made us feel so welcome and were very helpful with parking and any other questions we had. Well equipped facilities in our rooms, nice and clean and well presented. Everything we needed. Great location close to the town and harbour, just a few minutes walk away. Exceptional breakfast, great booking system for breakfast when we arrived and very easy to amend if required. The next time we visit Torquay we will definitely be booking Trelawney Hotel again.

The Trelawney from the outside is beautiful, the front is planted with beautiful flowers and there isxsomewhere to sit. On entering you notice how exceptionally clean the hotel is, Liz and Paul are great hosts, very friendly and helpful. Liz took us through everything we needed to know. The room was lovely, well decorated and very clean, plenty of tea and coffee. The bathroom was of a good size, the shower cubicle was a little small but that is because I am carrying extra pounds and nothing to do with the shower! Breakfast was lovely and had all you could want. Liz and Paul run this together and keep it to an extremely high standard. There is a little walk down to the promenade but not to difficult. Overall a lovely place to stay and would definitely encourage .others to stay here. There was a fan in the room also which was good considering the lovely weather

Everything, it’s been a long time since I stayed at a hotel that everything was perfect we liked it so much we came back the following night and booked a second stay

You know when people say this is a great place to stay and you look at the reviews and you automatically think can this be true as there is so many and in the back of your mind you think it can't be, well I can say with certainty all the reviews are true, what a really great, clean safe place to stay, breakfast wow, the owners could not do more, from the text message saying have a safe trip to giving us plenty of local knowledge where to visit etc., to making sure you got home to say thank you,thats personal service, for example we wanted some cold water, so we got some and waiting for us was a mini fridge so we could out in the room. We will definitely be staying with them again. In our opinion you can't get service, cleanliness and value for money,like they offer. Thank you, we had a great time

High stairs to top floor

What a gem. Myself and my mum had a lovely six days. We each had a superior double. Rooms were spotless. Plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. A nice lounge area with a mini bar. A lovely seating area at the front. Location was great. 5 minutes walk to the front. Owners were so friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be booking for next year.

My partner and i had a wonderful weekends stay at the Trelawney Hotel, From the moment we arrived, the owner made us feel genuinely welcome and couldn't have been more helpful. Our room was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. Although we chose not to have breakfast and opted for a lay in,all the other guests we spoke to,said it was excellent and they would highly recommend it,they have an easy pre order option,where you can choose everything you would like the night before too. The bar area is DIY with various alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages to which they operate an honesty box system,all proceeds of which go to local charities,The hotel's location is ideal—just a short walk from the seafront, town centre, and local attractions, making it a perfect base for exploring Torquay.

Limited private car parking,yet we managed to plenty of free on road parking,just around the corner,on arrival Liz gave us a map of all the available local parking spots.

Liz and paul were lovely hosts. The area itself was also very nice. Our room was lovely and we were only a 5 minute walk away from the pier. I would 100% recommend the hotel to my friends and family. We look forward to staying there again soon.

Shower pressure was a bit weak but it was noted the second we raised the concern, everything else was perfect.

We can definitely recommend The Trelawney Hotel. The location was exactly where we wanted, close to beach, 15 minutes walk to marina. Bus stops right outside. The guest house was spotless, hosts Paul and Liz were lovely. Breakfast set you up for the day. Room was impressive. We will definitely be going back.

We loved the fact that we were staying in a quaint Victorian style building.

The only thing that would deter us from staying here, and only in the hot summer months, would be that there is no air conditioning. However, it's very clear in the summary of facilities and there are fans available.

Location friendly owner and very clean must be the cleanest Hotel we have ever stayed at.

Room was hot but there was a desk fan and a mini fridge on request which helped keeping my insulin cool during the exceptionally hot weather.

Liz and Paul were lovely hosts, knowledgeable about the area and very friendly and helpful. Room was lovely and spotlessly clean, on the second floor with a sea view. I had scrambled eggs for breakfast and they were perfect. Definitely be my first choice of place to stay next time I visit Torquay.

My only grumble was the fact that the twin room was at the top of the 4th floor but it kept us fit!

Liz and Paul were fantastic hosts - very fruendly and helpful. We were given an upgrade on our room without requesting it which was a wonderful, kind touch. The room was immaculate as was the onsuite shower room. I am very particukar about ckeanliness and it didnt disappoint at all. Would definately recommend.

It was a lovely room and the bed was very comfortable

The first night I stayed in the b n b (which btw is a b n b it's not by any means a hotel!!) was terrible I was woken up at around 11.40ish to hear a woman screaming from the floor above asking for help! Had no idea what on earth was going on so I stayed in my room only to hear an ambulance arrive around 25mins later and a load of noise going outside my room as they dealt with the drama that was unfolding downstairs... It only became apparent that something odd had occurred when my partner and I went down to go out and get breakfast somewhere else, after all the performance going on the night before I wasn't extra happy about having a breakfast at the BnB/hotel! I saw the owner and asked her what on earth had happened and why there were signs saying not to use the bannisters as they had broken and that's apparently why the man was taken to hospital the night prior according to the lady I spoke to in the morning. So all in it was not the most pleasant experience and i am still yet to receive any sort of apology from either booking.com or the owners.

Location is very well very close to town hall and marine. Hostel is like a home confort. Owner landlady Liz is very good and helpful. Breakfast is good as well.

Check out time is bit early would be perfect if it is 11 am for us.

A really lovely independent hotel, beautiful exterior with an immaculate frontage, lovely hanging baskets, very inviting. Liz was very welcoming. We arrived early and it was not a problem to check in, get our key then we were free to do what we wanted. The room was small but immaculate, perfect for two of us with a reasonable size en suite, tea and coffee facilities in the room. We would definitely recommend and come back again.

Very neat and clean. We were at the back of the hotel which was lovely and quiet. Bedroom was compact but had everything we needed. We really liked the cosy front lounge and honesty bar. Front “kerb appeal” to the property was exceptional. Great location for local amenities and only a short walk to the promenade.

Lack of on site parking but that wasn’t really a problem as there were plenty of side streets near by.

The rooms we had were impeccable. Cleanliness is of the highest standard. Breakfast was very good, and we could change the cooked element daily if need be. Highly recommend.

Everything - very clean and comfortable en-suite room with an excellent, freshly cooked breakfast of choice complementing the well stocked breakfast bar. Very engaging and friendly host in Liz. Key fob provided for all door access a great facility. Honesty bar a novel addition, good to learn that profits from which go to charity!

The property was conveniently located to get into Torquay on foot and also handy to get out to all the interesting and beautiful places and beyond. There are many restaurants and food outlets nearby and good entertainment including theatres. Liz and Paul were perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The room was very clean and nicely decorated with lovely high ceilings. We had a tv, kettle and tea, coffee etc and a lovely clean and spacious shower room and wc. Our room was quiet and we could access the property at any time with a key fob. There was a self serve mini bar in the lounge which was useful. Breakfast was very nice with a cooked breakfast on offer as well as a self service tea, coffee area with fresh fruit, cereals and yogurt. I particularly enjoyed the Marmite sachets although that might too much for some 😂. My wife and I would definitely go back there when we explore the area more. Thank you Liz and Paul for lovely relaxing stay.

Although the original paymemt came out trough booking. Before we left we had to pay the same amount agian. So we payed double but recvied booking payment back. This could have been very difficult for us. Luckily i had just been paid. But it was my remt money. Inconvienient for those who dont have much.

The hosts were friendly and welcoming. The room and bedding were very clean and the breakfast really good.

The only thing that let it down was the bathroom. It was very small and the bath definitely needs replacing.

The warm welcome from Liz, the little information pack on bus routes and local sights. Her personal recommendations of local seafood restaurants was very good. The comfortable bed and brightly decorated room. The location to the beach, harbour and shops and eateries was amazing. Value for money, definitely. Will be back in the future

It's not something that can be helped due to the type of accommodation and type of room we booked, ( four poster) however my partner found the stairs hard due to an injury. The stairs seemed to be steeper on the second level to our room that little bit more challenging than them on the first level, having said that he was still happy as I was with the overall stay
