Nice breakfast area, very limited cereal etc, Breakfast cooked, was good.no
No sugar in the bowls. No bowls. Staff where pleasant, could have been a bit more friendly (smile)
Lo reservé para un amigo pero le encantó
The staff were fabulous. The location was great. Nice touch having a welcome drink. Room was massive. Room service was great and convenient, food good quality. The room was very clean. The bathroom was very nice.
Such a shame there were torn net curtains in the breakfast room. In our room, there was easily rectified decorating fixes. The windows needed a clean. It would only take 1-2 days to bring up to scratch. As it was very clean, but those bits made it look shabby. Whilst the bathroom was nice, trying to get in was tricky but nit impossible, but putting in the plug was a feat in itself!
Breakfast poor. See below. The room was excllent and bathroom outstanding. Room housekeeping was excellent. Maybe some bottled water for overnight would have been a nice touch.
Breakfast was poor, On the first morning we waited over 30 minutes to get our order taken (only 4 couples in the room so not busy). My wife ordered a scrambled egg on toast. She received a reheated (and cold) grey smashed up omlette which was inedible. Complained to the waitress, who gave no apology and just took it away. Tea arrived without any milk. Day two ordered poached eggs which were hard and cold. Tea arrived with out a tea pot lid and no milk again. The hotel was not busy but the two young members of staff could not replenish the buffet table. Frequently no milk, no bowls, no white bread, no plates, no cereal. Also pastries left on top of the toaster to keep warm. Nice idea but made the pastries rock hard and very unappealing. Gave up on 3rd day and had breakfast out. Live music provided during the evening meal. The restaurant room was not very big, so to have a Pavarrotti look a like belting out (with an unneeded microphone) Rag n Bone man songs in your ear when all you wanted was to have a quiet meal and chat was impossible and a bit embarassing. Love music but not that loud or so close to me when I'm trying to relax.
Staff excellent. Location good. Room super.
Nothing to complain about.
We loved the seafront position and views of the pier. Also liked the external architectural features of the building and the interior period decor. Nice that they have kept to possibly the original lift with the concertina doors. Our room was massive with amazing views and the marble bathroom was also large with a jacuzzi bath. Staff all welcoming, helpful and efficient.
shower tray was partially blocked and slow to drain away
Could have done with a rail in shower
Location and friendly staff.
One small thing that would have made us happy. Could have had mugs in the room instead of cups please. It was silly putting tea bags into little cups.
Great views. Large bathroom.
Furniture was old and the leather was peeling off over the floor and anyone who sat on it. The rooms were similarly generally old and falling apart slowly. The whole place could use renovation.
Location was very good. Very welcoming. Friendly staff. Huge bathroom. Good coffee.
View from our room was disappointing. TV was difficult to operate and there were no instructions. The cooked breakfast needed greater quality control.
Location excellent quiet hotel overall. Bed comfortable tv choice great.
Quite shabby marks on walls. Stains on sofa and carpets. Skirting dusty. Room not cleaned properly in 4 days. Breakfast awful really poor choice, very basic layout of buffet only 3 sorry looking pastries they were dried. Felt uncomfortable to ask for anything. Water was lukewarm everyday. Would not class as 4 star hotel. Manager reluctant to refund for breakfast asked to give a second chance, so just went with the few choices we had not worth £20
Fantastic view of the sea, outstandingly comfortable room
Vriendelijkheid top
Geen frigo op de kamee
Cooked Breakfast was very good . My room was lovely , large and a fabulous sea view .
Only one member of staff on reception ( who was very helpful ) but the customer before me took so long I waited a significant time to check In . I also tried to call for room service for breakfast but could get no answer. So it seems a reserve member of staff would be helpful .
All good
All good
Amazing lift
החדר מאד עלוב. חוץ ממיטה קפה וסבון לא היה כלום. יש עובש בפינת טוש.
Bed is comfortable
Bit rundown
Lovely old fashioned quaint hotel , on the sea front , amazing lift , food and drink very nice indeed, could do with a good dusting in some areas. Staff very good and friendly , room was clean and tidy
The bar shut early , a little dated in some places ,
Absolutely great location etc perfect
Nothing
How old it was and the lift was lovely
Did not have a hairdryer when it said that there should be one in the room
The hotel is close to the beach.
I payed for a sea view room for 2 nights, and when we arrived, they gave to us a part sea view room, what is cheaper than what we payed...and they said they will send me back the price difference, but they didn't do that yet...and it was 2 weeks ago...the receptionist said her manager will take care of that, but it isnt happened... The parking is a nightmare there, if you are using your car during your stay there you have to hunt an empty parking space there. We got a room with that kind of door where the lock was damaged, and it was a nightmare to close it every single time...and they knew it that the door lock is damaged, but they dont care! In the room the curtain was torned...the walls are dirty...when we arrive in the room wasn't there any hand towel, and it wasn't there a hair dryer too! We had to ask for hand towels and a hair dryer in the reception...what is unacceptable in a four star hotel...I do not recommend it.
Historic
Needs redecorating and some maintenance carrying out. Eg. Bathroom needs a deep clean to remove stains in grout
great staff, great location, accessible to everything.
I booked this including the breakfast, ending up paying extra for the breakfast. As I was not expecting this. As far as I know, when i book this, i click the breakfast included. but my partner ended up paying extra for the breakfast.
Tolles Hotel, sehr freundliches Personal. Alan der Pianist ist super!
It has a quaint appearance and within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Over the road from the beach and promenade.
My junior suite was only serviced when I requested which I was not aware that I had to do so only twice in 6 days did I get clean towels and coffee station replenished. The carpets on the stairs to the first floor were filthy and they weren’t clean in my room either. They weren’t vacuumed for my whole stay. My bathroom needed a scrub down. There was mould and soap scum in the shower on the tiles. The plug for the basin was full of hair and black mould. The sheer curtains were ripped in places and very dirty.
Large room. Great location . Complementary drink was nice
Hotel a little dated
Gorgeous stay with my Grandma. We were so grateful to be upgraded. Room was absolutely breathtaking, staff were so friendly and helpful and the location is incredible. Couldn’t recommend The Chatsworth Hotel enough!
Posizione comoda sul lungo mare, comoda la colazione in camera.
Struttura un po’ datata, la moquette essendo chiara presentava qualche macchia.
Location, staff, ambiance
Would have preferred sea view
Sea front thats given very convient
Tesis genel olarak çok iyiydi.Konumu mükemmeldi.Resepsiyonda çalışan İspanyol bayan hariç tüm çalışanlar gayet ilgili ve güleryüzlüydü. Özellikle tesisin genel müdürü George gerçek bir centilmendi. Eastbourne a tekrar gidersem hiç düşünmeden konaklayacağım mükemmel bir tesisti.
Hiçbir şey.
We paid £540 as we checked in, (before seeing the room), for a two nights’ stay in a suite overlooking the sea. These are the positives… The location is good for The Tennis Centre. The room is spacious and has a nice view including the pier. £2:50 to park the car on an adjacent road was a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately as we entered the room, the carpet was the first thing we noticed, cream coloured, not a small expanse, so many stains. When this is your first impression, you tend to look more, at other things. Stained sofa. Stained bottom sheet, (changed quickly by staff). Bathroom, basin taps, don’t work properly. Heavy staining around the bottom of the shower, issues with water down the inside of the wall by the bath, painted over but still bubbling. But, it was the lack of cleanliness in the whole hotel that we saw, including the communal areas that surprised us. The lovely old lift’s carpet, the stairs, the landings looked as though they’d never seen a vacuum cleaner. And rather weirdly, the whole time we were there, we never heard or saw any evidence of cleaning going on. The dining room, the large dead mouldy leaves behind one of the radiators, the table cloths that don’t fit the tables and drape onto the floor and are stood on again and again, in a room that would once have been lovely. The net curtains are roughly cut, the wires holding them just tied roughly around the hooks … and stained. No attention to detail! We don’t mind old slightly tired hotels, but do mind dirty ones! Breakfast was awful, soggy avacado toast and not as described on the menu. I’ve never left any reviews before, writing this shows my level of disappointment in this hotel.
Awful ! Dirty room, not cleaned in a while for sure, bedding and carpets stained, breakfast awful, worst hotel stay ever 2/3 star maybe I believe it’s in liquidation which would make sense !
Seagull's at my window
The location is great
The food was awful definitely need a new cook . The the room could have bin more up to date an cleaner no air con in the room either
We have just returned from spending a wonderful week in Eastbourne where we stayed at the Chatsworth Hotel. The General Manager and the staff are exceptionally friendly, polite and always very helpful. This has been our second visit to the Chatsworth Hotel in one year because it’s such a lovely place to stay. This is a beautiful well maintained hotel which is situated directly opposite the beach. The hotel is literally a short walk to the promenade, local shops and town shopping centre. The bedrooms are big and spacious with sea windows and super king size beds The breakfast menu has a variety of options and is always beautifully cooked. The evening entertainment at the hotel is also very enjoyable. This hotel welcomes pet lovers if you want to take your dog on holiday with you We will definitely stay at the Chatsworth Hotel again.
Everything was good . Friendly staff. Clean. Comfortable bed. Nothing was too much trouble. I liked the way they saved us a parking space.
Nothing to complain about
Situació excel.lent. Habitació magnífica (junior suite). Personal de recepció molt amable. Hotel altament recomanable.
Great location with discounted on street parking. Staff very welcoming and extremely helpful .restaurant was lovely and the food was excellent
Executive room was in need of refurbishing stains on the carpet and wall, brown water marks in bathroom around shower.no blinds or net when opening curtains people opp could see straight into the room so no privacy.
Plenty of choice for continental. Tea, coffee and hot breakfast served at table. Don’t order poached eggs, one was slaughtered, the other hard.
Room in slight need of attention, re missing plaster where aerial lead from wall severed, paint splashes on dresser, marks on wall, but as it’s more than halfway through the season I guess it’s too busy to do at the moment.
Breakfast was very good apart from the Poached Eggs had hard yolks and the plate was swimming in the vinegar water used for cooking them.
See above comment Re-Breakfast. My wife uses a wheelchair but the Hotels descriptions on line does not indicate that there is no ramp into the Hotel, which meant carrying the wheelchair up and down approximately 8 steps, out of or into the building. Also, the disabled person had to climb or descend these same steps.
The staff were helpful and we were able to get changed before our room was ready. Nice breakfast.
Busy and noisy road at night.
Only the location and the breakfast
The room was very small. The shower enclosure in the bathroom was extremely dirty. A sofa bed had been prepared for our daughter, but it was so old and uncomfortable that she couldn’t sleep. The windows wouldn’t open; they were broken. The ventilation was very poor. Overall, the hotel was full of dust and dirt. The hallways, dining area, and everywhere else were dusty and unclean.
The experience we had was good all the staff were very helpful and made us feel comfortable with our stay. However we had a few complaints, 1. we were not told that their was an air show going on when we booked. 2. We were not told that several roads would be closed on arrival, Which made parking near the hotel very awkward. 3. The bedside table didnt work. 4. The tv had a problem with the aerial ,Which we complained about at the desk.
Great location and friendly staff. The room was a very good size and well equiped.
Showwr needs servicing, no catch on bathroom door and no extractor fan in bathroom. In the heat the bed needed a sheet rather than a quilt.
Great , helpfull , friendly staff
Extrem charmant.
Lovely character hotel with large rooms
Bed and some furniture needs upgrading
Staff were very good and approachable. Breakfast was also very good with nice setting.
Some areas are becoming ‘tired’ and could do with decoration. Our carpet in our room was heavily stained. Wallpaper showed signs of water ingress in bathroom. On arrival, bedside cabinet had soiled cutlery and napkin in the drawer. It was hoot during our stay with no fan or air conditioning. Windows were left open which made for a noisy (at times) environment due to passing traffic along the sea front.
On the sea front
A bit tired dirty carpets, paint work tatty
L'emplacement, la chambre vue mer, le charme de l'hôtel, la chambre magnifique 30 m2. Le personnel très agréable.
The breakfast was expensive for what it was and not the best quality bacon eggs were not great so we opted for other options on the other days, and this was better as I would of complained but it was ok, but very expensive for four nights stay here.
Breakfast, and in our room my daughter only had a sofa bed which for the money seems very expensive to not even have a single bed in our room.
The junior suite was elegant, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a dream!
No airco, no fridge and no iron in the room.
Decor and location. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
We had to move rooms a day after we reported our shower did not work. Though the room we moved to was excellent. Breakfast for two mornings was poor. The first and last two mornings were very good! Not sure if the chef was ill or away, whoever took his/her place was not professional!
Lovely hotel with spacious room and huge bathroom. Friendly staff. Great location.
No fans provided in hot weather so the room was a bit stuffy.
Very happy with the overall experience during our stay.
Good location, breakfast and bar areas very nice
Rooms not 5* standard. Extremely hot, fans not provided, room change needed and forced into position to pay for upgrade just to get cooler room. Room not cleaned/bed remade over 2 night stay. Breakfast for our group was a disaster so we asked for refund for 2nd morning
We booked the hotel as our daughter was attending All England Dance event - so firstly the prices were hiked up. The room was basic, everywhere had dirty carpets especially the stairways and hall ways and I mean filthy. Pillows were laughable and pet hairs on clean sheets. The phone didn’t work in the room and curtains didn't cover the large windows. Bathroom was ok, however no door handle on outside of the bathroom door. Lots of scratches in wood work again maybe dogs? Why do all hotels allow dogs these days?! The only plus side was the beautiful view.
Gorgeous Edwardian sea front hotel, beautiful high ceilings, fabulous views
There was no way to lower the shower temperature - it was scalding hot and unusable. The jacuzzi bath was ok, but it turned on randomly when not in use and made a lot of noise. Weirdly the room was left untouched for our whole stay, beds weren't made, bins weren't emptied etc.
Bed was comfortable and a large room. Great views and location.
Slightly shabby in the room. Phone wasn’t working and despite asking it to be fixed it wasn’t so meant going down 3 floors if needed anything. TV struggled during England match to stream live (presume due to number of people watching but still).
Location was great. Lovely views.. parking could be tricky at times.
Communal areas like hallways and stairs were very run down and dirty. Carpets were disgusting. Pillows were not very good, phone didn’t work in room. Hairs on bedding. Suspect because of dogs.
We had the most wonderful stay at the Chatsworth Hotel in Eastbourne. From the moment we arrived, the staff and George, the manager, made sure everything was perfect and that we felt genuinely welcomed. His attention to detail and care really made our stay extra special. We stayed in the Junior Suite, which was absolutely beautiful. The room was spotless, spacious, and the jacuzzi bath was simply incredible – such a luxurious treat and immaculately clean. Every member of staff was outstanding. The staff were amazing. Nothing was ever too much trouble. We needed a few extra pillows, and they were brought to our room almost immediately. As it was my son’s birthday, we were celebrating with cake in our room, and when we asked for plates, they happily brought those up straight away too. The service was always prompt, friendly, and genuinely caring. The receptionist was absolutely lovely and made us feel so welcome throughout our stay. Every member of the team went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic experience. Thank you all for making my son’s birthday so memorable. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and will definitely be returning. Highly recommended! ⭐
We booked this place at very short notice through booking.com. We had already stayed for three nights at another nearby hotel. Despite having paid virtually nothing for the room we were upgraded as the only remaining room was the hotels biggest suite. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout. The room was lovely and as you would expect, very large. It had an amazing dual aspect sea view. The bathroom was really nice. Now clearly this place had had some money spent on it at some point, but when you look closely, it’s now looking tired in places. I have written a review on another hotel we stayed at in the same area. This appears to be the theme for all to a varying degree. I will say, we are booked to stay at the Lansdowne this weekend, and I am told this and the Grand do buck this trend. It’s a beautiful building, in a wonderful location, for Eastbourne. We really enjoyed our night. It feels a bit like Eastbourne in general really.
La ubicación, estar frente a la playa fue espectacular
Good location, friendly and helpful staff. Bar stayed open late, until 1am, not closing g early like most zeastbourne hotels. Nice old fashioned hotel.
No air conditioning, didn't have breakfast there because considered expensive at £40 for two.
The manager George and the reception team were all great, and most accommodating. The evening pianist, Alan, was most talented. Loved the size of the junior suites.
Room was spacious, hotel so close to pier. Cheap parking permit a d available zone H spaces.
Curtains difficult to open.
The location was excellent — the seafront is just across the road, and a good selection of restaurants and cafés is right around the corner. The bed was comfortably soft, and we also appreciated having a proper bathtub rather than just a shower, which can be surprisingly difficult to find.
The hotel felt tired and in need of refurbishment. There was an unpleasant smell in both the corridors and the room, and the overall level of cleanliness was disappointing. The carpet, sofa, windows and curtains all appeared dirty and poorly maintained. Considering the price we paid, the room did not reflect the standard or quality we expected. There was also no air conditioning, which made the stay less comfortable.
The hotel inside and out was clean and well presented. The room was clean, well decorated and pleasant. The staff were welcoming, friendly and polite - able to answer all questions and queries.
Nothing - all was to my liking.
View
Was dirty, smelly and non aircon
We had a wonderful stay in your sea view balcony room. Maybe just a slight nit pick, the room might just need a lick of paint. Very clean & roomy, with 2 lovely balconies & fantastic views. Our room was very spacious & well equipped, big comfy bed, lovely big bathroom. Would not hesitate to stay here again. Thankyou.
The location & view in a balcony room was fantastic.
A little overpriced.
Great overall! Great stay. Great breakfast.
The room we stayed was slightly tired but didn’t affect our experience.
Lovely hotel, very well situated on the seafront, near to the pier and within walking distance to restaurants and shops. The room and bathroom were large with lots of windows. An ideal hotel.
I travel a lot for business, spending many nights in hotels across the globe, rarely you find a hotel that captures your heart. The Chatsworth did just that, not just for me but for the entire family. We booked 3 nights, and saw the Hotel "just" as a base for our weekend plans and picked it for convenience more than the location or the Hotel itself. We were so positively surprised that we ended up spending a lot of time in and around the hotel as it created the perfect welcome and atmosphere. A warm welcome in a dreamy English seaside hotel, a spacious room for 3 with a view to die for and the seaside (with perfect weather) just across the road. The life music piano evening turned into an unexpected blues night with fabulous musicians and great company by fellow hotel guests. The hospitality was just great and my 14 year old son was clear, we need to come back soon! The complimentary use of the paddle board made his weekend just perfect. Overall one of the hotels we will never forget, we will come back to as soon as possible and 100% recommendation to anyone looking for a fabulous stay in Eastbourne. Thanks to the entire Chatsworth staff.
My wife and I have now stayed at the hotel three times. Once again, the combination of a great location, exquisite building, superb room, and excellent service led by George made for a most enjoyable and memorable visit.
Position and friendliness
We had to curtail our stay and return to London but couldn.t refund the third night. This is Booking.com not the responsibility of the hotel who were excellent.
位置特别优异,房型也相当不错!
服务员有特别友好的,也有不太积极为住客提供帮助的
a beautiful hotel both inside and out lovley staff. the room we had was first class i would highly recommend the chatsworth and will return on my next getaway to eastborne
The hotel was neglected, broken side table. Broken curtains, dirty tea cup, dirt ironing table. No refrigerator. No aircon .
Big tolilet and comfy bed.
Widok na morze. Pokoj duży i wygodny.
Brak lodówki, i chociaż 1 krzesła.
This was the second time we visited this year, and again, we had a great stay. This time, we stayed 5 nights. The reception and housekeepers were all amazing and always happy to help. The man himself, George, was also amazing. From helping whenever he could, to recommending on things to do, a big thanks to George for letting us use the paddle boards, was an amazing experience (my first time). Great hotel, great staff, and ideally located right near the beach, near to the pier, and the cliffs are not too far. Thanks to George and the team, for an amazing stay, and for your kindness and hospitality towards my family and I, Wish you all the best.
Location
Carpet from ground floor to 1st floor dirty.. Initial welcome not very warm.In-room coffee machine not safe to use, as vibrates of the table.Very expensive breakfast. No Air Con in room.Although bathroom window was opaque should also have a blind.
Superb location
Staff knowledge could have been better
I could see the sea from our room. Staff were very friendly. The room and bathroom were spacious.
£8 for a bottle of beer Blinds are required for the bedroom windows.
There is no air conditioning, if you going in a heat wave it’s not a pleasant place to be at. No refrigerator! Very dated old hotel. Dirty cups! No attention to detail
This is a well located hotel. Staff are very friendly and attentive. It is clean and the food is great. Cigar lounge is a great touch for me. Hot breakfast, though limited, is excellent and prepared to your liking. Parking is on side streets. You have to pick up the permit from reception. Price is very reasonable. Highly recommended.
We stayed in the junior suite, the room was large, room service was available for breakfast and dinner. Complimentary wine on evening arrival in lounge, new cigar club with great selection and live pianist.
A fridge in the room would have come in handy.
A localização é excelente. Café da manhã ótimo. Quarto espaçoso e super confortável. Equipe super educada e prestativa.
Great staff. Great hotel. Was told parking was £2.50 with a voucher they provide. But on checking in they had no vouchers left. Ended up paying £15 for the day. Bit disappointed. But over all was good experience. Great location
Great location and as we had a sea view room the view was beautiful. Bed was comfortable enough. Water in the room and good selection of tea and coffee. 1 packet of biscuits... Good breakfast with a nice selection of menu items.
We arrived for check in at 3pm to told our room was not yet cleaned and would be 10 minutes. 30 minutes later the room was ready. Whilst we were offered a drink it was not made clear whether this was complimentary. When I questioned whether we would be compensated for the lateness I was told nothing could be done but we could have a drink later. However the hotel offers a free drink for first time customers anyway. The chairs on the balcony were covered in seagull poo. We appreciate this is Eastbourne but they obviously hadn't been checked by housekeeping. Replacement chairs were quickly brought to the room though. Cream carpet in the room was stained and really grubby. Shower head useless, needs descaling. On the whole the stay was fine. The hotel must have been amazing once upon a time but it is faded and knocked about now. It needs a lick of paint.
We stayed in a large comfortable room with a spacious bathroom and a partial seaview . The breakfast menu was varied well presented. The breakfast room is a delightfully decorated turn of the nineteeth room The hotel is located along the seafront not far from the Bandstand. The hotel is easy walking distance into the town and to the pier. The staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our complimentary glass of listening Alan playing the piano.
Only one thing that was a little let down was the pillows was very flat
Our room was very comfortable with a spacious bathroom. The hotel is situated along the seafront ideal for the beach, the Bandstand walking along the prom and into the town. The staff were friendly and helpful.
I found the key to our room a little awkward to use when locking the door.
