Its expensive and no hot water. The receptionist apologised, but, at a minimum, we should have been offered a small voucher for the hotel to make up for the inconvenience. Nothing was offered.

The room we were allocated smelt of cigarette smoke. We could not stay in this room as it was soo bad. We were then moved to another room which was very comfortable however there was a wedding in the hotel. Some of the guests of the wedding were not respectful of other guests in the hotel as they were loud up and down outside our room. The band for the wedding was extremely loud. There seem to be no curfew as we could still hear the band at 1.35am. I did put in a complaint to the manager of the hotel who did apologise however I think all guests should be made to be respectful of all as we are all paying guests. We also had no hot water in the morning when we went to have showers. Expensive for what we received.

Reviewed Sep 13, 2026Loved the location right on the river, just as advertised. The breakfast was terrific and included and the parking was ample.
There happened to be a wedding the Thursday night we were there. Drunks at 3 am and a fire alarm at 4 am were a problem. The hotel apologized and we understand that this was a rare occurrence particularly to only our stay. Otherwise, it was lovely.

Having the rubbish bins locked just below our window and someone thinking it was a good idea to throw bottles into the bins at 5:00am. Being above the rubbish bins was noisy. Noise from the corridors came in the room. Overall the room was noisy and not restful. No fridge in the room to keep snacks and room service finished at 8:30pm. For the price paid for the room I’d expect 24 hour room service particularly when the rest of the town closes down at 8:30 pm as well. Staff were all too busy to help efficiently.

We were in a room at the other side of the car park. We had to walk outside across the car park to have breakfast in the morning. It was quicker to go across the street to eat and drink in the evening.

I also like fresh air and even though on the second floor the windows could be opened a little.

Reviewed Sep 12, 2026Die Unterkunft ist schon sehr in die Jahre gekommen, aber alles war sehr sauber und wir haben uns wohl gefühlt. Das Frühstück ist auch in Ordnung, typisch irisch. Man hat vom Frühstücksrestaurant aus einen tollen Blick auf das Castle. Gegenüber vom Hotel ist der Pub Matt the Millers wo man wirklich lecker essen kann. Die Lage ist super, da man Kilkenny zu Fuß erkunden kann. Es ist auch ein kostenloser Parkplatz vorhanden.

Wir wurden in das Nebengebäude ausgelagert. Das Zimmer lag zur Straßenseite, man konnte lange die laute Musik der gegenüberliegenden Bar hören. Der Eingang zum Nebengebäude sieht nicht aus wie ein Hoteleingang, sondern wie der Hintereingang zu einer Parkgarage. Das Treppenhaus im Nebengebäude sah auch nicht gut aus - zumindest nicht so, wie man es von einem 4-Sterne-Hotel erwarten würde.

Room service card wasn't collected, phoned Reception when breakfast had not arrived. Manager called to room and breakfast did arrive to room. I had an appointment at 8.30 which left me 20 minutes to finish it. Easily done since it contained tomatoes which i specifically requested not be supplied due to allergies. On arrival advised i was being upgraded. Not impressed with room, draught under door to balcony, noisy room and poor water pressure. Point of interest, pedestrian entrance from road bocked by hotel vehicle on 1 side and beer barrells on other.

This is a very large and rambling hotel. Getting to our room from the front desk was quite circuitous. It was nice to have free parking, but due to a wedding there was only one space we'll in the back upon our early evening arrival.

Reviewed Sep 3, 2026Sehr zentral gelegenes Hotel. Betten sehr groß und bequem. Alles ist zwar in die Jahre gekommen, doch wird es in Ordnung gehalten. Das Frühstück kann man mit einem herrlichen Blick auf das Castle genießen. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Alles in allem sehr zu empfehlen.

Es ist recht hellhörig und der Lift im Nebengebäude in welchem wir unter gebracht wurden ist nichts für Schwache Nerven. Das Frühstück ist in Ordnung, aber keine 4 Sterne. Für eine Nacht in Ordnung, länger würde ich nicht bleiben.
