Location and comfort.
Had to park in a local car park.
It needs a lot of work. For the price it is not worth it.
Great location Enormous room Friendly and helpful staff Lovely patio for alfresco dining
Location of power sockets - had to use the kettle on the floor in the corner
Excellent breakfast, very comfortable bed but room a little small to warrant a 'classic classification'.
Size of room and peeling paint in bathroom.
Hotels require you to pre-pay these days. There was a time when you paid your bill at Check Out. My problem is that I prepaid a lot of money for a Junior suite and significant premium room amenities that I paid for were absent. On reporting it, the issue was not fixed. On emailing a complaint, i have been ignored. It;s not acceptable.
Issues raised were not dealt with and fixed. Customers should not be the ones to find problems in a premium hotel room. Being ignored and not dealt with as a priority or even made to feel that my custom was important.

Location, staff, food
Access to bathroom was down stairs
Room - We were given an upgrade to a Classic room, as our Cosy room, wasn’t ready for the early requested check in. So we’re very pleased.
There was a huge hairball in the bottom cupboard of the wardrobe!
The location is excellent. The room was spotless, spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom is huge with an excellent shower and luxurious toiletries. Reception and the other public areas are very attractive. The staff were helpful and positive.
Nothing to dislike.
A beautiful building in a great location
Dinner was expensive (for the portion size)
I liked the fact that it is as very central and the staff were very polite snd professional
My sons room was a lot nicer than mine - think they’ve done up some rooms and not others
Hôtel très bien situé pour visiter les châteaux et jardins de la région . Très grande chambre. Plateau de courtoisie avec petits gâteaux et sélection de thé . Bon restaurant. Accueil chaleureux et professionnel
Very good looking building!
All ok!
The Hotel is in a beautiful building and was very clean and tidy . The breakfasts were amazing , plentiful buffet selection and a good choice of cooked breakfasts . The chefs at the hotel must be excellent cooks as the quality of the cooked breakfasts were superb ! The bedroom was large , the bath and shower room also large and stylish . The bed was so comfortable . The staff were on hand at all times and very friendly and professional . Sam at reception was very helpful . The hotel is within walking distance of the town .
Parking was restricted but we did pre book a place although if you had a large car bays are very small .
Lovely building and wonderful staff, who couldn’t do enough for you.
I thought the food was a little bland, and expensive for what it was. I also thought the wine list was extortionate.
Great location, fabulous breakfast, and helpful, happy staff.
We stayed in a deluxe room, and although the bed was very comfortable, it was definitely in need of new decoration and carpet. A bit run down, especially at the price we paid.
The staff were amazing
Some of it was a little tired
We stayed at the hotel for several days as part of a business trip. But our dog had been through an operation so we had to last minute take her too. The hotel was clean, tidy and very welcoming Nothing was too much trouble for any of the team. Every single person was friendly and helpful and really accommodating for us with the dog. If you want a dog friendly hotel, this is it. Beautiful old building with an outdoor terrace. Lovely food as well. The staff were really knowledgeable about what they were serving. The room was large and airy and very clean. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet and soundproofed from the road. Air con too!! Literally a short walk to restaurants, bars and shops
The only slight markdown is the lack of plug sockets in the room. Makes trying to work and plug a kettle etc in a bit of a faff. Oh and watch out for the metal shower, use the bath mat!
Lovely bedroom, great location. Excellent food.
Really friendly staff and lovely room
The comfortable bed, the quirky style, the exceptional bathroom and the air conditioning.
Doors in the hallway outside banged shut which was disturbing.
Central and convenient
A bit dated and tired
Heerlijke tuin en terras, mooie ruime kamers
The location was brilliant central to Penshurst Place, Chatwell House, Hever Castle, Tonbridge Seven Oaks and Chiddingstone Castle. The hotel has parking and reserve your parking for you. The staff were warm and friendly. It is a relaxed atmosphere. The hotel was over 3 floors and a small lift available. I loved the character and the grandeur of the hotel. It had a beautiful bar, relaxing parlour and lovely garden available to relax in. Meals and snacks readily available with room service. Outside there was a very considered smoking area for residents, under covered with a relaxed seating area. There was a dedicated outside dining area open for meals and drinks. Breakfast was beautiful with a wide range of choice, a mixture of self service with hot food served at your table. Waiters available to help you with trays to your table. The bed was comfortable. The room very clean. Excellent to see L’Occitane products available in the room, with slippers, dressing gowns, iron, ironing board. Fridge. Tea and coffee facilities along with a Nespresso machine. The bar providing warm milk if available. TV, everything that you need. Most importantly, nearly forgot the room had air con, which was handy due to the weather being mid 30’s while we were there and this hotel accepts pets.
The bathroom was beautiful but the decor in the room was dated.
It was beautiful, period style with modern room facilities. Bedroom was superb, bed exceptionally comfy and bathroom fantastic. I had the Pomery Room. Staff were fantastic.
Only the restaurant menu. Limited choice, but great presentation and quality. Dessert menu was poor choice, otherwise ok.
Amazing hotel, great location Very attentive staff
Could not fault anything
Beautiful building, good location, comfortable bed and nice bedlinen.
Bathroom had black mould between tiled flashback and the sink. Rather grubby old looking carpet, generally a little ‘tired’ decor wise. The food was not up to the standard of the previous times we’ve been to various Hotel du Vins
We went with two friends and had two deluxe rooms on the second floor overlooking the park for 3 nights, DB&B. The hotel location in the centre of Tunbridge Wells is ideal. Parking was reserved right outside the entrance. It's location is also ideal for visiting the numerous NT properties in Kent. The hotel was comfortable, clean and with all the amenities that you would expect for Hotel Du Vin. The Bistro restaurant and bar had superb food and the staff provided the highest level of service during the whole day. Although I can't name everyone Sam on reception, Rebecca in the bar and especially Sonny in the Bistro restaurant made our stay memorable. Thank you to everyone, we will return. Mike P.
A very enjoyable evening at the Hotel. We had a wonderful meal at La bistro, excellent food, the salad nicoise and trout dish were delicious. Great service from Sonny, ably assisted by Riley and Alex. Victoria on reception was most welcoming when we checked in. Special thanks to Andy the chef
Very poor meal, tiny piece of monk fish which was over cooked and tough with a very oily nasty dipping sauce and some skinny frozen chips for £40.00. It was inedible, bad value for money and bad lazy chef would not recommend.
My husband & I celebrated our Emerald Wedding Anniversary at the hotel on the 18th July 2026. We would like to praise Tiffany, our events organiser, for a wonderful event & Seb, our server on the night for his sterling work. Very professional & polite. Well done team. The food was of a very high standard & our guests had a really lovely time.

Amazing hotel, location and staff.
We celebrated our Diamond Wedding Anniversary at the Hotel du Vin in TUNBRIDGE WELLS and it was a delightful experience. All our guests have told us how much they enjoyed themselves and complemeted the hotel on the food, atmosphere and the excellent service provided particularly by Rebecca who was helpful, friendly and efficient. She helped make the day go so well.
Sofia, Lauren and the team were FANTASTIC!! I held my first event on Thursday and the hotel staff really helped me make the event a complete success!!!
The location and building are great however the conditions of the building inside and out have clearly not been maintained and invested in for a long time. I know this hotel from when I lived in Tunbridge Wells and I was appalled by the change in its appearance and interior. I returned here to attend a family occasion and I was expecting the standard of I knew Hotel Du vin delivered. My room was allegedly an upgrade but it was tired and shabby in decor. Certainly not reflected in the cost of the room and I took a video of the condition of the furniture in the room. I would really like the management to read this review and contact me to discuss this. It’s extremely unreasonable to expect to charge London prices and deliver shabby rooms.
Great
Not serving until 8am we had hoped they opened at 7am
Attended for the first time with my husband and daughter for her birthday. Sonny was our waiter and his expertise and service were exemplary. Our daughter is vegan and I am coeliac and histamine intolerant and yet nothing was too much trouble. A really special lunch.
Lovely hotel in a historic building, with lots of character, and a quirky, interesting design.
Located next to a construction site, with noise and construction dust affecting the experience.
We celebrated a family milestone birthday in one of the private dining rooms and we were very well looked after by Seb and Serhii - the room was beautiful, the meal and drinks were delicious and the service was impeccable. Everyone had a fantastic time - thank you!
Nice semi-style buffet breakfast, coffee was really good. Food was so-so but okay as it's a local hotel. Great location; I'm probably the best hotel to stay in for that category. Sadly, we found the two young guys working in the bar need to learn how to smile 😊. Apart from that, everything was very good. However, tables were very dusty, so they could be cleaned more.
Sadly, there is major construction going on next to us, and not following rules and regulations, so there is a lot of dust. We were having breakfast outside but had to move inside after a large cloud of dust blew over from the construction, which was quite disappointing, but it’s not the hotel’s fault.
Lovely hotel. Very nice people! Monica was so sweet and helpful. We went to a wedding and before we left she took excellent photos of us in our fancy clothes! We really appreciate her!
Nice property
Breakfast very mean. No bowls bigger than an ashtray. Fruit came in very small jars, could only use a teaspoon. As a result multiple trips back to the buffet needed. Everything was designed to reduce portion size. Coffee poor. Pastries good, cereals cheap. Overall breakfast was a disappointment.
We had our wedding ceremony, reception and evening party at the Hotel du Vin, Tunbridge Wells a couple of weeks ago. The day was so beautifully run by Sophia and her team, Serhii, Riley, Rebecca, Alex, Jimmy and Eryn. From the moment our guests arrived to the time we all left, they couldn't have made our day more perfect if they'd tried. The chef even made a fabulous wedding cake out of two Cook cakes, so unexpected and such a lovely touch. The team took care of every detail so we could just enjoy our day with our family and friends. The food received lots of great comments too, simply brilliant, thank you.
location, heritage estate, excellent front desk staff
pillows were awfully soft, bed could be better
The location was excellent, the receptionists were excellent.
The food in the restaurant was appalling, I have no words to describe the meal. I chose the plaice in batter and chips . Old horrid and truly inedible. Don’t eat at this place. I did not complain at the time, I was very tired and it was just too much for me on that day, and I’m well aware even if I had it would not have made a difference. The chef and the waiting staff were not up to par.
Sehr gute Lage, sehr gutes Frühstück, sehr freundliches Personal
Well organised and very welcoming
Nothing
We had a great time at the Hotel du Vin. I was particularly impressed with their efforts and consideration when I had a sleeping issue. (Unrelated to the hotel). Thanks in particular to Monica for her efforts! Please note, though, that this would not be a good hotel for a working businessman or anyone with a need for plugs: our room had only one available plug almost ten feet to hook some equipment. The hotel had extensions, but it was very makeshift to have cords stretching across our room and bed. Other than that, a great place to stay with very friendly staff.
This hotel is genuinely a heritage jewel, set in a beautiful Georgian building with many attractive period features and elegant large rooms. The restaurant opens onto a lawned garden with mature trees. Bedrooms are good sized with large beds and well appointed bathrooms. (Ours had a rolled top bath as well as a walk-in shower). The aircon and free wifi worked well. We had a kettle, fridge and Nespresso coffee maker. Parking needs to be pre-booked but is free on site.
Beautiful building, location and decor. Excellent staff
Not budget friendly
Frühstücksbuffet mit guter Auswahl. Am Morgen etwas hektisch.
Room was very comfortable. Took the air conditioner a while to cool the room down but was very comfortable during the night . Breakfast was excellent ! I commented to the staff it was very nice and healthy .
ok some of the carpets were a it worn, but that did not bother me.
We stated here for one night and spent a lovely evening in the restaurant & garden. The hotel is a charming building with lovely views & terrace. The staff are all helpful & friendly. Sonny suggested a wine that we wouldn’t have thought to order & his choice was spot on - thank you ! Would stay again
Although rather late to post, we held our Golden Wedding celebration lunch last December. From first visiting the hotel we were so impressed by the staff and as a result we immediately booked for the event. On the day we, and our guests, were delighted with the staff and the food and would not have changed a single thing. We are trying to think of other reasons to hold a celebration there and could not recommend the hotel more highly. Thank you.
The location was very good for our needs as we attended an event at the Asembly Hall
The breakfast was not overly hot when delivered to our table. I asked for poached eggs and they were more like hard boiled eggs as they had been overcooked
The food, the service, the room
Not much
We enjoyed coffee and lunch and our wait team was amazing especially RONEL who was attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu and food prep. His recommendation of the sparking water was another great attention to our lunch experience. We look forward to our next visit
As someone who has frequented Hotel Du Vin for 2 going on 3 years now, Ronel has been a breath of fresh air. I can confidently say thus far he is their most friendly & attentive member of staff to join Hotel Du Vin. I will not call names but in the past some members of staff have been delightful and others were a bit more cold to say the least. While I typically have a hotel stay, this time I stopped in for a business lunch & Rotel ensured we were properly taken care of. I would highly recommend that you request him on all visits in.
ronel was very friendly and attentive and the food was delicious!!!
We’ve stayed at the Hotel du Vin in Tunbridge Wells many times over the years, but this time was special, as it was my birthday. We booked a private dining room for a celebratory lunch. It was a perfect occasion, although hectic, as we had all four grandchildren, including a newborn, four dogs, plus six grown ups. The hotel dealt with everything beautifully, and we had a delightful young waiter for the event, Jimmy, who coped brilliantly with all our rather chaotic demands. We also stayed for two nights, and found it a very relaxing experience. The staff are marvellous: just the right combination of friendliness and efficiency. A wonderfully happy weekend!
The hotel is clean and conveniently located near the main street and many shops, and both breakfast and dinner are good.
The hotel has an older style, which is reflected in the décor, and some of the facilities feel a bit dated. In the bathroom, the shower water pressure is on the low side, and the toilet flush is gentle, requiring a short wait before it can be used again. The elevator is small and slightly awkward to use.
Beautiful hotel with spacious rooms and excellent breakfast. Convenient location with parking. Top notch service from Sam at the reception desk. Only minor niggle was the beds were a bit too soft for me but overall excellent.
Breakfast was very good Good selection Very prompt service Room was spacious & quiet Bathroom was huge!
Booking.com advised parking on site was limited but I’m fairly sure it didn’t state £15 per night. We used the multi storey round the corner which was fine & a bargain at £8!
We had our wedding reception here in April and it was just perfect. We cannot fault the staff who were so attentive and knowledgeable about everything and made our day unforgettable. The food was amazing and the whole day ran so smoothly thanks to Sophia and Tiffany who were there to help us plan for the months leading up to the wedding. The rooms were also amazing and we were able to have breakfast the next morning with our family and friends. I cannot recommend this venue enough! We’ll be coming back as much as we can for food and drinks!
Wir haben hier auf der Durchreise eine Nacht verbracht und uns rundum wohl gefühlt. Ein schönes Zimmer, aufmerksames Personal, ein gutes Frühstück und auch das Abendessen im Restaurant war sehr gut.
It has bags of character and the staff were very friendly and enthusiastic
The room was facing the front of the property which had bright lights pointing directly into the room all night. The curtains were on a pole and let a huge amount of light in making sleeping difficult. The cocktails in the bar were poor. My cosmopolitan was made with a dried orange slice and served in the wrong glass. A classic cosmopolitan should use a curl of fresh orange zest in a martini glass. It was also spilled when brought to me and I had to ask for the stem and base to be wiped to avoid dripping on my clothing.
Bar, Bistro and gardens
Room very small
I rate the experience 4/5 because of the great service of Monica (at Reception) she is such an asset to this hotel, she is responsive, attentive, on top of her stuff, she called to confirm the booking and address the notes I had written in the booking. She remembered who I was upon arrival. She is 100/10. The property is very old, and I appreciate the concept of “old English” but the place needs maintenance, period. The room (I booked Deluxe Suite), is spacious, bathroom is huge, probably same size as the actual room. I liked that the bed was not next to the door, so some separation allowed for privacy. The curtains in the room were super old, not blackout at all. A/C worked well, quiet. Bedding and pillows were very good quality. Good night sleep. The room had a Nespresso machine, served 4-6 coffee capsules, had plenty of teas, and a bottle of water. Toiletries were L’Occitance, good quality. Overall, I think the place was too pricey for the quality of the rooms. Breakfast was average, and breakfast staff’s service was poor. Coffee was horrendous. The Hotel has a nice outdoors area with grass and sitting. Overall I would not stay here again for price/quality. But I do recommend if you have some money to splurge!
What an amazing hotel , perfect in every way. The food is amazing , the rooms and public areas are cool and relaxing, and most of all the people who work there do everything they can to make your stay amazing. A special shout out to Patricia , her energy and enthusiasm shone throughout our stay with great service and smiles too! The rooms are spacious and well appointed and the bathroom and especially the rain forest shower was superb and topped off with Occitaine products. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel , Tunbridge Wells is a great town too , the hotel is well situated close to all of the shops and attractions , we will be back.
Amazing staff and te food was outstanding
Great location. The hotel was nice and clean and the staff were exceptional.
Although we are not big drinkers, the bar closing at 10pm is quite odd. Usually upon returning from a show it’s nice to sit in the bar and chat over a drink but the place was closed by the time we walked back from the theatre, in the modern world that’s pretty weird, it was like going back to some kind of curfew. Upon checking around we found various other venues with bars that are open until midnight, maybe Hotel Du Vin need to up that side of their game.
Everything
Nothing
Great location and hotel facilities
Size of bedroom-very small -seemed to be set up as a single room and not a double-disappointing given the cost
My husband booked me a duluxe room for my birthday as a relaxing break. I arrived at 3pm (the designated check in time) but was told my room wasn’t ready and was escorted to the bar and offered a free drink which I accepted and waited for 30 mins until the room was ready. During this time I was made aware the room was ready but there were technical issues so I couldn’t go in until the room was paid for which eventually I did via payment link on my phone. The room was nice and big but very dated and in need of refurbishment to live up to both reputation and cost. There was also a lot of loud drilling somewhere nearby, either on the premises next door. I have 4 young children and get little time to myself was looking forward to some peace and quiet and a few uninterrupted hours of trash tv. When I tried the tv it was an old tv with no smart options other than a Chromecast. I spent 30 mins trying to download the app and get it set up including extra cost of 6.99. Once it was set up it became apparent the Chromecast feature on the tv was not working so I called reception for help. The receptionist was friendly and said he’d speak to the tech team and report back which he did and informed me they were resetting and to try again in 15 mins. After 15 mins it still didn’t work so I called back and was given the same response. When he called back I was informed the tech team were dealing with it and to keep trying every 15mins. By this point I was frustrated as my time was slipping away due to tech issues and by 8.30 I gave up trying the tv and watched Netflix on my phone. Not the evening I had in mind and overall I felt very disappointed by my experience as it didn’t live up to the reputation or expectations.
All food good. Good bar and service. Breakfast supervisor was first class.
Inadequate parking and to charge for reserved parking is poor customer relations. Some traffic noise from busy road so best to ask for a quiet room.
Great location, nice room friendly staff, nice history of building where Queen Victoria spent holidays there
Bed was too soft for me, outside needs sprucing up
My wife and I celebrated our golden wedding anniversary with a family dinner in a private room. The food was excellent and the service matched the occasion. A truly wonderful full experience.
Great location, beautiful surroundings. Lovely food. Fantastic service
A beautiful hotel with super friendly and helpful staff right in the middle of Tunbridge Wells. Comfortable beds, lovely clean bathroom with huge bath, the breakfast was amazing. Could not have found a better hotel. We will certainly be back.
Everything
Phenomenal atmosphere fantastic food
Fantastic atmosphere and amazing food, the waiting staff are lovely, knowledgeable and so is the food (less knowledgable more lovely).
A lovely trip to Tunbridge Wells, made even better by a lovely hotel and staff. Really nice room with a comfy bed. The bath and shower items smelt beautiful and were of a really good quality. We didn’t eat dinner in the hotel but the menu looked nice so we will be back. We did however have cooked breakfast. The full breakfast was delicious and the perfect portion. We were attended to by a waitress called Chloe who was so friendly and made sure all our needs were met throughout our meal. Nothing was too much of a hassle for her and you could tell she was passionate about her job! Thank you for a lovely stay and we will definitely be recommending the hotel to friends and family for the future.
We booked afternoon tea with friends celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary I have nothing to complain about we where seated overlooking the gardens very attentive waiting staff and the afternoon tea was lovely and fresh . We where asked if we would like water for the table and when it arrived was in the spring neck bottles no labels so we drank that bottle and then the waitress brought up another We finished and got up from the table as we had paid in Wowcher deal that was it as far as we was concerned as we went to leave we was called back telling us we hadn’t paid for the water Tap Water 2 Bottles £10 ???? If that had been bottled water surely it would of come in the proper bottle and had been opened at the table with a label on it So my tip is don’t have water with your food
Staff were fabulous
Delightful Hotel. Room had lovely view of the garden. Food excellent, friendly staff
Booked the room through Booking.com, but when we arrived the hotel had no record of the booking from Booking.com. Fortunately the hotel arranged another room, but of a lesser standard. Do not use Booking.com - book direct!!!
Lovely hotel. All of a very high standard, room cleanliness and facilities, welcoming staff and an excellent restaurant with varied menus. Close to all amenities in town, would recommend without hesitation - BUT, don't book through Bookin.com. They did not communicate booking to the hotel, so we had no reservation on arrival. Fortunately, the hotel fitted us in, albeit to a lesser grade room that we had booked with Bookin.Com.
Staff were very pleasant. Good that you could reserve a car space. Nice bar area.
Bedroom felt very dated.
We had never been to TW before and booked in here. There is a faded charm about the hotel - the building, the plaque, the French cuisine on offer, fireplaces. The staff are friendly, polite, attentive. We had a room outside the main building, which had a comfy bed and new bathroom but needed a paint job here and there.
The location is excellent. The bed and linen and towels are soft and clean. The breakfast was delicious - freshly cooked to perfection with anything and everything you might want - juices, cereals, pastries, toast, cooked, continental.
We were given a room off the main hotel, in a new build part I guess - we had steps down to the bathroom. It seemed that the hotel was fully booked and we were plonked there. The view was ground level of a skip and car. There were areas that needed a bit of attention in the bathroom and stairs - dust on the lamp and handrail area as well as chipped paint and the rim of the plug hole too could do with a scrub. Small stuff but I would think this chain would sort these things out. I had waited 20 years to come here and I did not enjoy being sent to a 2nd class area. We paid the same as the rest of the people, but were forgotten about.
Very comfortable bed in a spacious room. Evening meal and breakfasts were excellent. Enjoyed spending time in the pretty garden.
We were not happy with a service charge of £10 on 2 bottles of wine.
Had a lovely stay, the room was very nice. Sam was especially nice on reception, very accommodating indeed. The thank you Sam
Very walkable area.
Definitely need to be physically active to navigate the hallways stairs
I have sampled many afternoon teas and this one was one of the best. An innitive tasty menu beautifully displayed. Good service. I would recommend the Hotel du Vin for afternoon tea.
