We stay in this hotel lots of times when we come back to Peterborough. It is very good value for money and dog friendly. The staff are all lovely, very friendly and helpful. The rooms are lovely and clean. The breakfast is included and has lots of choice. Good choice for meals too. Lots of nice dog walks nearby and a pub, The Cuckoo, which is also dog friendly. Free car park too.
You normally know where you stand with a Holiday Inn Express but this hotel was slightly different. The layout of the hotel is interesting as there is a medium sized car park at the front and then a larger car park along the side. Make sure you go down the correct side though as the other side, the one with the parallel parking, is a dead end and you’ll have to reverse all the way back up. The other oddity I found was that the main door of the hotel was of the push/pull variety (i.e. not automatic). I know this may sound strange to the uninitiated but gripping a door handle that has been gripped by hundreds of, if not thousands, of other people is unhygienic. I rate the germ factor of those doors right up there with coins and petrol pumps. Apart from the matters above there are a lot of great things about this hotel. The parking is free, the staff are lovely and the hotel is dog friendly to name just three. Additionally the room was spotlessly clean and we were presented with a doggy welcome pack upon arrival. Don’t let the doors put you off this is a great hotel.
Stayed at the hotel for local wedding on New Year’s Eve. The hotel is set in a rural location but in close proximity to Peterborough city centre, you would need a car if staying here or relying on taxis. We checked in and was given room 114 upstairs, there is no lift in the hotel so that is worth noting if you have mobility issues. The room was a decent size, very clean and had everything you could need, tv had an array of channels. Again, bathroom clean and the shower was great. The breakfast was outstanding for what we paid, it’s much better than premier inn. The staff were very friendly in the hotel. We would definitely return if we are in the area again.
We stayed here as a family to attend a roller hockey training session. The hotel surpassed any expectations, was very clean, good facilities and super friendly and helpful staff. We needed additional towels and they werw brought to the room within 5 minutes. Great breakfast and clear allergy information. Cannot fault it at all.
Food was gd but got woke.up at 250 by fire alarm because some idoit smoking wasnt happy because had wait in cold and have health issues
Couldn't fault this hotel for a great value overnight stay . Checked in by Liam ,who was excellent, very polite and friendly. Given a good sized room on the ground floor , everything very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included in the price of the room , which was a buffet of hot and cold food , very impressed. Hotel was in a very quiet area, just a couple of minutes from the A 1 , didn't hear any internal noise from the hotel at night, which is a big bonus ! Will definitely use this hotel again.
Great weekend stay . Staff accommodating , lovely room . Cleaning was top standing on every day turnover. Would stay again without a doubt . Room 228
Clean room and polite staff. Easy parking and proximity to areas of interest.
Stayed for work, not great... room had very little lighting, the photos of the rooms must have had the brightness on the camera turned to the max as it is nothing like that in reality. No plug socket near the bed to charge your phone The staff were great though and room was cleaned well
Great value
The carpets were dirty and desperately need to be replaced or deep cleaned. Sofa in room 207 had all stains on the edges and face. Room 123 - Shower room was dangerous, the floor was slippery and had no grip on the tiles when wet. One of the receptionist, with long blonde hair was very rude and everything was too much effort for her to do anything! Didn't even offer the meal deal with the pizza and automatically put it through as separate items, subsequently paying more, even though we asked for the meal deals. When questioned, she rolled her eyes back and went to storm off! Not very customer friendly or polite. Evening dinner, we had 2 pizzas and they were under cooked and disgusting especially for the price of them. Breakfast was awful, sausages were meant to be Cumberlands, but tasted like cheap pork ones and were badly cooked. Beans had been kept warm for too long and scambled eggs were sloppy. Barely any orange juice and when asked, they said they'll get to it when they decide! Would we come back?? Erm..... Definitely not, be a place to avoid
The staff were very helpful and friendly
Staff helpful. Room clean Nd comfy. Noisy through adjoining room.
over priced, awful breakfast, cold room
No problems
My room was above a staff rest area where staff would smoke, making the room stink. Not great! Also, didn't appreciate the knock early on check out day despite check out not being for another 2 hours.
Fantastic, very nice and friendly staff, hope I can get booked in again next year.
As a small family visiting family in the area, we are really glad to have picked this hotel. They had no problems with us checking in at 7:30pm and had the room ready for us. The person who checked us in was super friendly too. The room was very clean and we had no concerns. We all enjoyed our breakfasts.
Lovely hotel clean room comfortable bed and all staff friendly and professional.
The staff were AMAZING! They couldn't do enough for us bless them.
The room was clean and tidy it had a lovely wet room, and there was enough room for my wheelchair
Just a basic sleep and go, was clean and staff were helpful
I have never given a one star before and always look for a redeeming feature in order to praise the staff. My wife and I have been travelling the country over the past four weeks and this is the worst hotel we have stayed in. I even gave 4 stars to a hotel where others had given a single star because were keen to help in any way they could. The young receptionist at this hotel was friendly but the general demeanour of the staff suggested that they couldn't be bothered. This suggested very poor management. My wife has been a Holiday Inn member for many years even reaching elite status. We didn't realise that their policy had changed in that you had to go to the bar to order your dinner. We sat in the restaurant for a while without being served but no one bothered to tell us about the change in policy. It was only when I went up to the bar to ask to be served that I was told to come to the bar by a chap who had watched us sitting there for about half an hour. My wife and I came down for breakfast at 9am. I had cereal but when I went for the cooked breakfast, there were no eggs. I waited till the eggs arrived so that everything on my plate would be warm, but then there were no sausages. I asked for sausages but was told the kitchen was now closed. I ended up with nothing. We will never be back.
It was clean, convenient, quiet & reasonably priced - I would definiitely stay there again if I was in the area - thank you every one
Very good overall for price
A nice hotel, needed a hotel close to Peterborough as visiting family - HI fitted bill. Good breakfast and very pleasant staff.
Lovely quiet hotel comfortable room with a good shower! Breakfast was also lovely
Food went down through the stay, orange juice more like a children’s weak squash, only chocolate muffins lasted days no choice cold food every day
Great place. Clean, friendly staff, convenient location. Highly recommended.
Perfect place to stay ver clean
Excellent value stay. Clean room and bathroom. We were four (two kids, two adults) so quite tight with the sofa bed out but satisfactory for the price. Friendly staff that were always on hand. Quality breakfast with a good range of options (including veggie sausages on request) in a relaxed atmosphere with attentive staff regularly checking on the food, crockery and cutlery availability and presentation.
The room in the hotel was very good only thing missing was a fridge.
The room didn’t have air conditioning so was very hot. A fan was providing but that didn’t help. Staff, services were all good including breakfast.
Would recommend to anyone
Staff were great. Breakfast was very good. Thank you
Overall, nice clean, large room in a pleasant hotel. Good bathroom. A few more milks would have been good as each drink needed two milks. Good value for money.
Amazing location Great staff Comfy bed Powerful shower Plenty parking
One star is too many !!! I arrived at the Holiday Inn Express, Peterborough West in the early afternoon of July 11th. The temperature in the room (228) was the same as outside, 28ºC. The window could not be openned more than 2 inches and there was no air conditioning (just a very small, ineffective electric fan). As I found it difficult to breathe in this room, I returned to the reception where I was told none of the hotel rooms was air conditioned, so I cancelled the reservation (on the grounds that the room was uninhabitable) and moved to a different IHG hotel that does have air conditioning. I have now spent more than two hours on a number of calls to IHG, spoken to several agents and been cut-off for the fourth time and therefore feel justified in saying that IHG customer services is appaling (but it never used to be. I am still a Platinum Rewards member by choice and have used their hotels as far apart as San Francisco and Kuala Lumpur, and I have never had such poor service.
Very pleasant hotel. Just a pity some essential breakfast items not available such as fruit and eggs on a morning each
Holiday Inn Express a Peterborough, Inghilterra. Holiday Inn Express in Peterborough, England. It's close to the highway, clean, the shower works very well, and the breakfast is good. There's ample parking, and you can eat on site. We had a great time, even though we only stayed one night because we're touring England for three weeks.
Great check in, receptionist perfect under pressure due to only 2 staff to run it all. As a result, they had a limited menu on. He recommended the new steakhouse next door, wonderful food and packed out. Room was a long walk but worth it. Large spacious room, with everything you need, ironing board, Iron, Hairdryer, fan, large tv, more than enough tea/coffee/milk etc for 4 drinks each. Bathroom was very clean and modern and with no need to hand stand to wash the lower regions thanks to a shower that can be held. Can't comment on the breakfast as the storm was just starting and i wanted to stay ahead of it. Glad i did.
We've stayed here before. Parking for our motorbike was great. Check-in was easy. Room was clean. They offer a choice of pillows which is great. Breakfast was nice, and even better that it's free. The only issue for this stay was the heat in the room. We arrived at 9pm and the outside air temperature was 26°c. We walked in to reception and it was lovely and cool. We were told our room was on the first floor. As we walked up the stairs, about half way up, the heat just hit your head! We opened the door to our room and the heat was unbelievable. I double checked that the heater wasn't on, it wasn't. I went to open the window and it opens about 10cm due to the stupid safety feature. It was so cool outside, but the room was unbearable, and all we had was a fan, which doesn't do anything apart move the inferno around. If they insist on having the stupid window safety feature (not all hotels do this) then they NEED to install air conditioning units, before someone is seriously ill with heat exhaustion.
As a stopover, it was good. The breakfast was particularly substantial.
Pros. Quiiet and comfortable. Easy parking and appreciated welcome for dogs. Excellent breakfast and friendly, helpful staff. Cons Room stuffy (although it was a very hot night). Would have appreciated some forced ventilation/air conditioning. Did provide small fan though.
great value
Neds a little small for us
The hotel/room/bathroom were very clean and well appointed. Only negative was the lack of airconditioning which, although a fan was provided, could be a problem if it was much hotter. Especially as the window only opens a few inches. Service provided was excellent
Overall a good stay but need to sort out the wifi issue.
Superb in all respects.
Very clean, efficient, well located stopover. Excellent value. Friendly staff, good breakfast. Would definitely use again. Could do with a beer/ale choice in the bar.
As far as Holiday Inn Express goes, this is the best one I’ve stayed in, great service, comfy room, easy parking and good breakfast!
Stop off on route elsewhere was ok cleanliness could be improved on dining some cutlery was dirty a dinning room , and in corridor items were left all night outside doors or glasses dirty towels etc but probably stay again if on route again
This hotel was a fab find! The value for money is excellent! £69 for a double room with breakfast! The hotel was clean, quiet, not too big, and the breakfast was great! Would definitely recommend it for an overnight or short stay to explore the area.
Ideal location off the A1, can’t fault the facilities. The separate toilet in the room is a excellent feature and look forward to the restaurant next door opening soon
Ok stay. Only 1 night.
Small Cozy Holiday Inn, serves a full English breakfast thats okay. Booked a family room and a standard room, but got 2 family rooms, which was a bonus
Well I have stayed in a lot of holiday inns over there years, and I can honestly say this has been the worst experience I have ever had. The rooms are so dated. But that is not the issue, the real problem lies with the staff and the quality of the food and service. Tonight I ordered some chicken wings to be followed by a pizza from the specials. I waited 48 mins for the chicken wings witch I might add where very nice. I then received my pizza within 10 min of my wings being served , even though I asked for them to be served as a starter and then a main course. The service here is absolutely appalling the staff really do not give a dam about there guests and the food is only passable at best. Very disappointed.
We arrived to not very happy reception staff, quick enough to take payment, first room in photos, second room carpet wasn’t great but tied and cba..went to show got back went bed, got up for breakfast which wasn’t great bacon hard coffee machine broke, all and all wasn’t very hot… Then left for home…
Great little hotel. Only drawback is that it really is in the middle of nowhere, next to a housing estate and an office park. Good value however.
Rude staff. Asked about something that was requested in my booking that wasn't provided when I arrived and was spoken to in a disgraceful way. Cold food. Breakfast was stone cold and not nice at all. Made us all feel sick afterwards Rooms are tiny
Great room
Everything was fine but the bed was very uncomfortable and lumpy pillows
Very helpful nice hotel and staff from the moment i arrived , helped me with everything i asked as first time down Peterborough and needing to get into London. Rooms were lovely, food was lovely and staff were lovely. Same time next year 😉
Great hotel on the outskirts of the city. Polite, friendly and helpful staff. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable bed. Currently has a Harvester for meals nearby, but this will close for two months from the end of March 2025 for complete refurbishment due to change of ownership to Miller & Carter brand.
Bedroom and ensuite shower were excellent.More than I expected! Breakfast only average.Drinks machine out of order, no mushrooms or tomatoes.Only scrambled eggs.
Overall, a very pleasant experience for an overnight stay of that price. The reception staff were friendly and helpful on my arrival as well as when I had an issue with my car tyre from 9pm to almost 1am- which was greatly appreciated. The lady at reception assured me that there was no issue if i was to have to leave my car for the day even after checkout. As for the condition of the room, overall this wasn't too bad, it just needs some TLC. The window frame had a smidge of black mould that you usually get, these would either need to be cleaned every so often or simply replaced. The bathroom needs a better finish but i put that down to poor tradesmen rather than the hotel itself. But overall the cleanliness of the room was quite pleasing. Would definitely come here again, just need to remember the electric heater is under the desk.
First time in this hotel and we were concerned it was too cheap and cheerful. We normally book the Holiday Inn west in Peterborough but it was fully booked. I have to say we were really impressed. Breakfast was basic but plentiful. I never saw any GF options but I never asked. Hot and Cold food was available. I honestly couldn’t fault it. Ample parking. It does appear some work is happening in the hotel as we saw a rather full skip and some people had stated the contractors had been loud very early in the morning but we had no issues at all. My one complaint was people allowed their doors to slam shut maybe fit soft closing . There is a bar at reception. A harvester pub next door. Easy access A1
A one night stay the room was clean comfortable and quiet. The breakfast offered a good selection. Staff were helpful. The fruite juice was over diluted.
Nice rooms only downside was they dont clean under the beds noticed there was what looked like crushed pringles under the bed then while my 11 month old was on the floor he was pulling plastic and what looked like a small plastic drug bag out from underneath the bed other than that we enjoyed our stay and would stay again except perhaps bring a travel cot next time so were not worried what toddler will find other than that every where else appeared clean curtains did have about 10 holes in them so early morning looked like a ray of stars on the curtains the breaksfast which was included in the price was nice me and husband and kids enjoyed it
Very good quality hotel.Good breakfast and excellent value for money
excellent welcome really helpful staff and my booking requirements were met in full.
Very good value, clean hotel.
The room was nice and the staff were friendly. The only downer for me was that the room was like a freezer when I arrived around 17:00. I turned the heather on but it was so poor that it didn’t change anything for 3 hours. I then went to reception and asked for another heather to add. I played it in and switched it on but I couldn’t leave it on the touch the night as it was noisy. Since I checked out on the 28th of December, I got back home to London and I am still in bed with a terrible flu.
Great location to break our journey south and good price. Bar area not great, no ambience and no ice for drinks but staff were good. Good, unlimited choice for breakfast, bed comfortable and nice shower.
Staff friendly and room itself was nice enough
Very helpful staff and a good hearty breakfast
Was a pleasant stay here and the room was very clean
Very good, but heating instructions would have been useful.
Good customer service
My stay at the hotel was quite disappointing. From the morning, the staff was excessively loud, making it impossible for me to get any sleep. They were constantly slamming doors, and unfortunately, my room was situated directly opposite the staff room. Overall, it was my worst hotel experience.
AWESOME PEOPLE
Was convenient for the trip
A really good welcome when we first arrived with offer to get us anything we needed. Room clean but difficult to regulate the temperature to make it any cooler which was a problem. I had a cold and no tissues in box in bathroom and it wasn't possible for reception to provide any. The next day housekeeping just left dirty towels on the floor although new fresh one were provided. Breakfast on both days good and plentiful. Housekeeping standards needing to be improved -= it lets the hotel down. I needed to contact them after leaving and phone never picked up!
The bed is comfy but it doesn’t live up to the IHG standards that I’m used too, the tv had 3 Chanel’s the shower was cold, I asked the staff to add the stays to my app and they haven’t, no biscuits in the room it’s the second time I have stayed in the hope it would be better but sadly not. I ordered a kebab with a naan and it came with white bread without warning
Overall pleasant functional hotel, main issue was with breakfast where people were waiting for along time for the breakfast buffet to be topped up - no bacon or sausages on the first day
Poor customer service, mis selling the rooms and then blaming booking.com, When you book a double bed and pay for the double bed you should stand by this then you don’t this is mis selling Room was clean food was ok, I work in customer service and no where near is this place
Perfect venue for our requirements. Clean, tidy and very good value. However certain members of the hotel reception team could be more welcoming on arrival. Just got a stare as if to say what are you doing here. Doesn’t matter what level of hotel you stay at you should always make the guest feel welcome. That said I’d still com back
The worst hotel I have stayed in for 5yrs I stay away on average 300 days a year. Worst hotel with miserable staff bad service worst breakfast ever. When there was breakfast available as they don’t have the basics over the 2 day stay. Avoid at all cost will never return here again AVOID AVOID AVOID AT ALL COST
The room was spacious and clean, with Dove soap and shampoo in the bathroom. Free parking onsite. Very good buffet breakfast. Friendly staff. We would definitely stay here again.
Needs a bit of a refurb but good value for money. Suggest they change up double beds to king size to be able to compete with Premier Inn
I would rate higher but unfortunately I was given an adjoining room. This was ok until one night a young family came. They were noisy and jumping on the beds. I asked to change rooms but was told there was not anything else available. The foam insulation between the doors is PIR, which if not fitted snug around all sides , will most certainly not reduce noise, and it didn't! I also did not request an adjoining/ disabled room. Although having disabled facilities was not an issue, I'm just pointing that out. The staff were very polite and attentive. The breakfast room was kept clean and the breakfast was ok and hot. I liked the full size croissants, most hotels dish up the mini ones which can be hard. I was not a fan of the coffee, really poor quality. I liked the parking facilities but did see a lot of litter , which looked bad. The bin so close to the entrance was poor due to people using the top as a cigarette dump. The doors I found awkward , only because I had two lots of luggage. It would of been nicer if it was automatic. I liked the small comfy seating area opposite reception but found sitting and relaxing due to folks holding personal conversations on their mobiles with no consideration for anyone close by. I asked one lady if she could take her conversation outside, which she refused to do. I got into a heated debate with her but she had no consideration for anyone around her and continued at a pitch that was most intrusive. a sign saying respect others around you
Very clean and comfortable, great staff and friendly. Will be staying there again
Shower head kept dropping whilst in use , reported after first evening still the same for next three - made showering very difficult
Staff were great breakfast was great location perfect for our trip. However the bed was uncomfortable due to drooping in the middle.
Convenient , good stay .
Good for the price
Functional hotel great for a short business night away, lovely staff!
Perfect stopover when visiting a uni with my daughter. Very clean and surprisingly spacious room. Beds comfy. And a good breakfast with a good choice
Overall, my stay was as expected, except for the constant noise from the washing machine or dryer throughout the night. I was in room 240
Stayed with my daughter for one night, as we were at Burghley Horse Trials for the weekend. Price £125 but all hotels are expensive on this weekend. Glad we booked in advance as the price had doubled again by the time it came round. Upon arriving around 7.30pm we were checked in. We noticed a strong dog/disinfectant smell to our room so phoned reception. The receptionist Katie couldn’t have been more helpful, and was very apologetic. She explained that it was a dog friendly hotel but would certainly move us. She arrived swiftly with a key to another room and waited while we let ourselves in. Unfortunately the room smelt as bad, not of dog but of really stale mustiness. Urgh. Katie totally agreed, apologised again and produced a third room which smelt fine. The next morning, housekeeping banged on our door as I was getting dressed. Bit harsh for 8.20 am on a Sunday! It was hours until check out time. Breakfast was not great, the cooked breakfast wasn’t well cooked so I ditched it for toast and cereal. I wouldn’t stay again. Katie was great though.
