Good location excellent breakfast

Parking was a little bit tricky

The breakfast was prepared specific to our order and arrival time. Very clean, comfortable, and felt like home. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout stay. Walkable location. Parking was a great bonus in an area with incredibly sparse parking options. Highly highly recommend.

Stephen and Tina super friendly and provided a lovely homely b&b which was exactly what we were looking for. This was my first time staying in a b&b and I loved it. The cooked breakfast was fantastic and not greasy in the slightest. Having a jacuzzi bath was a bonus. We cant wait to return.

Steve and Irene are extremely Helpful and I am really grateful to them for making this journey and our trip amazing. I lost my car keys and Steve was really helpful for finding that out for me. And the Morning breakfast by Irene and Steve was really worth it. Thanks to both of them, a must stay place if you plan to visit Lake district plus the location is also excellent

The hosts were super nice and welcoming! At the facility it is possible to do a late check-in, if needed. The room was clean and quite, as per the pictures shown. Loved the atmosphere. Very good position.

The location was perfect, the breakfast was really nice. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Its everything you could want in a lake district b&b.

There was nothing we didn't like about it. Glasses in the room would have been a bonus but I'm sure if we asked they would have been provided.

I loved it! The owners were so nice in fact I was convinced I knew them from somewhere even though I'd never met them before as the welcome was so warm. Very clean and comfortable. Free parking can be arranged either on site or if it is full, they can lend you a permit for the pay and display a short distance away. I slept so well and it was great to wake up to a fine quality breakfast. The ingredients were top notch. I rate places on the sausage provided and these were yummy. Egg done to perfection! They kept checking if you needed any more toast or delicious coffee! I can't wait to go again!

The breakfast was fantastic and the location was great. Only a ten minute walk to Ambleside but not in the busyness of the town centre. Bus stop less than 2 min walk from the house that goes up into the Valleys and also back to Windermere way!

Der Empfang durch das Gastgeber Paar war überaus herzlich. Da es auf den Straßen recht eng zu geht und der hauseigene Parkplatz für unseren grossen Wagen nicht in Frage kam, wurden wir gleich mit einem Parkausweis versorgt. Kostenlos auf dem 3 Gehminuten entfernten öffentlichen Parkplatz. Wir hatten das, überaus geräumige, Themenzimmer "Afrika". Modernes Bad mit großzügiger Dusche. Die Betten gehörten zu den sehr guten auf unserer Reise. Das Frühstück wurde am Abend vorher gewählt und wurde dann am nächsten Morgen frisch gekocht (Englisch) - Top 👍🏼❗. Für unsere Ausflüge und Wanderungen, wurden wir vom Hausherren mit Tips und Kartenmaterial versorgt. Auch Empfehlungen für die Gastro. Direkt am öffentlichen Parkplatz gibt es eine Takeaway Pizzeria mit interessanten Kreationen. Essen kann man dann im "Tiny Garden😉" des B&B. "Wir kamen als Gäste und gingen als Freunde"...hier ist das so, wenn man offen dafür ist.

Als wir ankamen, war das Zimmer recht warm (woanders aber viel schlimmer), was wir aber durch gezielte Lüftung der grossen Fenster in den Griff bekamen.

Wanslea Guest House is clean, comfortable, and easy to find in a convenient location. The hosts are friendly and kind, and very willing to help answer any questions you may have or suggest activity ideas to help you plan your day.

The street does have a fair amount of traffic, so it can be noisy with bedroom windows open, but too warm with windows closed (in summer).

Tina and Steve were perfect hosts. The place was spotless and breakfasts perfect.

The room was very clean and well equipped. The guest house had a homely feel to it and the breakfast was excellent (just what we needed before busy days walking). Parking was available on site. Felt very welcome from arrival.

The host couple was extremely nice and incredibly helpful when it came to advice on what to visit and how to move around. The breakfast was superb and the rooms very clean, and the location was perfect for someone visiting the Lake District for the first time. We will definitely consider staying here again if we go back to the Lake District.

Our bed was a bit small even for a relatively fit couple.

Tina & steve were lovely and helped with all of our needs. Great location in walking distance of everything you need in Ambleside. Breakfast was lovely!

Great location away from busy town but within walking distance. Close to Waterfront. Hosts were so accommodating + Friendly. Offered tips on things to do + directions. Went above and beyond+ beyond to make my stay pleasant. Breakfast was excellent served piping hot with plenty of choice. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Even let me leave my car in the carpark when I checked out.

The only thing I would change was to ask for a room at back of property as quite a lot of traffic noise. This wouldn’t deter me from staying again.

Direkt an der Straße gelegen, wobei wir (wie vorab gewünscht) ein nach hinten gelegenes und damit ruhiges Zimmer erhalten haben und Nachts nur noch sehr wenig Verkehr vorhanden ist.

Had a lovely stay at this property, great location in Ambleside with a short walk into the town. Parking was great, 1 minute walk away from the accommodation. Breakfast was tasty and very efficient which made the start of the day very pleasant. Host was very lovely, friendly, and knowledgeable of the area. Thank you!

Steve en Tina zijn een superlieve en attente gastheer en gastvrouw. Je voelt je direct welkom en ze maken je het echt naar de zin. Hebben goede tips voor lokale bezienswaardigheden, praktische zaken en gezellige eettentjes. De koffie bij het ontbijt was voortreffelijk.

My dad and I travelled down from Glasgow on our motorbikes. The Wanslea was the ideal base for our trip. Room was immaculate and comfortable, breakfast was great and there was a spacious car park for the bikes. Location is great too, only a 5 minute walk from the centre of Ambleside. Highly recommend the Wanslea.

Can’t fault it

The owners were so lovely and welcoming. I stopped for Windermere marathon and they were so supportive and made me some toast and coffee before breakfast time the morning of the marathon. The next morning we were talking lots, they are just lovely. Thank you.

I liked everything. I do just wish it was dog friendly and I’d be booking 3 rooms for next year! But I understand the reasons.

The property itself is in a great location between Windermere and the town centre. Parking is catered for and access to main road routes is easy. The rooms are spotlessly clean and very comfortable and have everything that you need for a stay. The breakfast is superb with a range of options and I would personally recommend the locally sourced bacon and sausage which are excellent. I would also highly recommend the preserves which are homemade by Tina (I always end up buying jars to take home). And that brings me on to the owners Tina and Steve. You could not meet 2 more welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts. This was my 2nd stay at Wanslea Guest House and it will certainly not be my last. Thank you to Tina and Steve.

It was a small room but everything worked and was good. The breakfast was excellent preordered the night before and perfectly cooked and presented.

Not enough space for everyone to park but I was provided with a permit to use the nearby public car park for free so that was good (but a few hundred yards to go from the car).

Breakfast was very good. Hosts were excellent. The room was spacious and everything worked. Location was good it was a ten minute stroll into town or a 5 minute stroll to the lakeside Parking for 4 carsthe

the glass shelf over the bathroom sink impeded use of the sink. It would be better as a corner shelf just to the right of the sink - but I am nit picking!

Steve et Tina sont des hôtes exceptionnels. Ils sont aux petits soins et notamment Steve qui est très attentif à ce que tout se passe bien. La chambre que nous avons prise est magnifiquement décorée, spacieuse et confortable. Tout est impeccable. Le BandB est situé pas très loin du centre-ville où l'on peut se rendre à pieds sans problème. De belles randonnées peuvent également être faites aux alentours.

This was a lovely property - friendly owners , great location just on the edge of town with a 2 minute walk to bars and shops etc. Onsite parking is an added bonus Great room , great breakfast

The house itself was beautiful and the room clean, comfortable and calming. The location was perfect, we walked in and out of Ambleside multiple times a day, its super close. It was quiet and peaceful in the room despite being on the road, we were able to get lots of uni work done in between our walks. The breakfasts were delicious and most importantly the care from Steve and Tina was perfect.

Tina and Steve were the perfect hosts and went the extra mile to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. The room was well maintained, decorated and equipped to a very high standard. The breakfasts were fantastic!

The breakfast was run very efficiently. Filled a form stating your choices. When down at breakfast it was all brought to you. The porridge was delicious and hot. All of the food was lovely and well presented.

Staff were excellent, friendly, on hand to answer any questions, and really helpful with discussing the hikes within the area. Breakfast was served at the time stated, and tasted really nice. Room was exactly as stated, clean and a really comfy bed.

Wanslea Guest House is central to Ambleside and there are plenty of car parks near by you can use whilst staying. Steve and Tina were friendly and very helpful. The place was clean and room was lovely. Very comfortable bed. The breakfast was also delicious.

Steve and Tina were wonderful hosts who made us feel at ease and at home all throughout our stay. They were flexible and warm, Tina's homemade cakes were simply great, and Steve lent us his own book on the Lake District peaks. They also offered other perks such as getting a discount in some local restaurants, and using a parking permit in some parking places. The room was impeccable and really comfortable, and we loved the breakfast each day! Moreover, the house is full of character.

All was good! I would only suggest having recycling facilities, though this may be also dependent on the local council regulations.

The location was a blessing (for all the hikes starting in and close to Ambleside) and rather convenient in terms of public transportation

“Didn’t like” is too strongly worded. I’d say, for me personally as a yogurt and granola breakfast type, it would have been a full 10/10 experience if there had been a larger yogurt and other dairy options for breakfast. Our hosts have been absolutely fantastic and incredibly accommodating and attentive, however!

The hosts were very welcoming and gave great insight to the local area. Breakfast was great with excellent choice. Hosts went above and beyond.

The location was amazing, right on the edge of Ambleside, close enough for a stroll through Ambleside, a lake walk or a mountain walk with no driving required! Steve and Tina were absolutely lovely, they couldn’t do enough for you, always made you feel comfortable and at home. The breakfast was great and the room was clean and tidy.

Amazing hosts, really kind and helpful. The hotel is beautifully clean, the breakfast awesome with every choice combination you could wish for. The hosts can't do enough to make your stay restful and easy. Views across Loughrigg fell to the front by day and owls chatting in the trees after dark. Love it and are definitely coming back here. The location is brilliant for town or pier too.

I had booked a single room. I was upgraded to a double room. The room was clean well presented and very comfortable. Bathroom facilities were excellent. In the room was list of options for breakfast and my preferences. ( eggs boiled; scrambled; poached etc ) The breakfast was again very good. The B&B was a short walk into the centre ( 5mins ). The owners were polite and very helpful.

It was beautifully clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was great, and the owners are friendly. The location is great for both Ambleside and Waterhead, and it’s right on a good bus route.

Communication and checking in information was clear and there were no problems at all. Very friendly welcome and stay, with a fab breakfast to boot. Such a pleasure to stay at such a well cared for BnB. The room itself felt very cosy and a perfect little escape.

The noise from the road traffic and people talking can be heard more clearly than expected, even though the windows are high quality, but this didn't affect my sleep at all so it wouldn't stop me from staying again.

Great location - central to Ambleside shops, cafes, pubs etc (2-5 minute walk) without being right in the centre. Lovely, cosy property with everything we could need in the room. Tasty breakfast with lots of options. Steve and Tina were super helpful!
