Everything. The accommodation is superb and Chris and Caroline are such brilliant and caring hosts who are so diligent. The rooms are so comfortable with such lovely bedding and furnishings and quality toiletries - brilliant attention to detail. The breakfast is so good too with so many options. There is a lovely bar here too with reasonably priced drinks and the hotel is in the heart of Eastbourne and close to lots of restaurants and bars and 5 minutes to the train station. I’ve stayed here 4 times and really look forward to coming back - fantastic place and so homely.

A very well presented and maintained B&B in a tastefully renovated Victorian building provided an excellent base from which to explore the Seven Sisters and surrounds, and Eastbourne itself. Caroline and Chris could not have been more welcoming nor more practical in their advice how to use our limited time. Although 'location' might be measured, in Eastbourne, by proximity to the beach, Ravilious is only five minutes' walk from there, plus very close to both an international lawn tennis venue and one of the best small contemporary art galleries, the Towner, I have experienced in the UK. Ravilious is also an easy, 10- min walk from the train and bus stations. The breakfast was outstansing. Highly recommended.

Overall we were more than satisfied on all fronts.We were on the top of four floors, requiring a bit of a hike - there is no lift. Chris kindly carried our bags up, and the stairs proved no problem for us. Anyone with mobility limits or particularly heavy luggage, however, would be advised to factor that in to a booking request, as lower floors would be preferrable.

The room was spacious, clean, modern and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was lovely with a fine choice of offerings with good service and well prepared/cooked food. Nice to have a hotel with a well stocked bar, and the central location was ideal for the coastline, the train station and the South Downs Way footpath. Happily recommend this to anyone wanting such a hotel and will actively seek to use it again if we're in the area.

Not much. I suspect that in very hot weather the room would benefit from air con, but in Sept it was fine.

A faultless hotel. The room was finished to a really high standard, comfortable and very clean. The food was excellent too, a good choice, high quality ingredients, freshly prepared and very tasty. The hosts (im sorry I forget their names) but were warm, welcoming and very friendly. Location very central too but a quiet leafy street, good parking.

Honestly difficult to find fault. The room was very warm but its hard to criticise the hotel for this. Climate rising may dictate the need for air con in the future...

Loved everything, especially the low-lighting lamps in the bathroom, the Tunnocks teacakes on arrival, the friendliness of the staff and the amazing breakfast.

You have to be able to climb stairs, which was no problem for me but may very well be a problem for anyone with a mobility problem.

Abbiamo soggiornato in questa splendida struttura per due notti e ci siamo sentiti come a casa fin dal nostro arrivo. L’hotel è arredato con grande gusto, elegante e curato in ogni dettaglio. I gestori sono persone davvero squisite: accoglienti, gentili e sempre disponibili, pronti a soddisfare ogni esigenza con il sorriso. La camera era ampia, luminosa, impeccabilmente pulita e dotata di ogni comfort, rendendo il nostro soggiorno davvero piacevole. Un plauso speciale va alla colazione, semplicemente eccezionale: ricca, varia e con tante preparazioni espresse, realizzate al momento con prodotti di qualità. È stata un’esperienza davvero bellissima. Consigliamo questa struttura a chiunque desideri trascorrere un soggiorno rilassante e piacevole. Non vediamo l’ora di tornare!

Una piccola nota negativa è stata solo durante la notte che sono stato costretto a chiudere la finestra della stanza per il baccano dei gabbiani, e non essendoci l’aria condizionata faceva abbastanza caldo. Anche se ho dormito benissimo per la comodità del letto.

Die Gastgeber sind sehr herzlich und freundlich, geben ungefragt (Restaurant)Tipps und bemühen sich um die Gäste. Das Frühstück wird auf Bestellung frisch zubereitet und ist ausgezeichnet, das Zimmer schön groß und geräumig. Die Lage ist perfekt, abseits vom Trubel und doch in der Stadt. Wunderbares B&B.

Nicht gefallen hat uns gar nichts. Dass man in so ein Gebäude keine Klimaanlage einbauen kann ist logisch, dafür gibt es einen Ventilator. Damit kommt man an heißen Tagen zurecht.

There was nothing I didn't like about it.

This is really is such a lovely small hotel, with a really peaceful, calm, artistic vibe. It was my first visit - but it immediatley felt as I opened the garden gate and walked up the steps to the lovely Victorian property, as if I was coming to stay with Sussex friends. So many fantastic things to say about Ravillious - here are a few: It has the best location, on a quiet street opposite Devonshire Park Tennis Club. It is a 5- 10 minute walk from the station and also to the sea! From the front room bar, and lovely shaded front garden terrace under the parasols, you can enjoy a drink with a view across the green of the tennis courts, to the back of the Towner Art Gallery's monumental geometric painting Dance Diagonal by artist Lothar Götz. At the rear of the hotel is also a magical garden, with such thoughtful planting, seating & lighting which was a beautiful night time view from my room to come back to. My room was excellent - so spacious with high ceilings, lovely armchairs, a garden view, an exceptionally comfortable King Size bed, with the softest Egyptian Cotton, and a wonderful bathroom with rain shower. (I also loved the Tunnocks Tea Cakes with the tea/coffee selection, and the room keyring being that of an American Pool Ball with the number on! Little thoughts like this make me smile so much!) The breakfast is first class - the best Eggs Benedict with the yummiest homemade hollandaise! The Bar has a great selection of carefully chosen local drinks too - Rathfinny for Wine lovers and Long Man for beer lovers. I also loved the books on Eric Ravillious you could borrow too - and...the ice cream fridge! To top it off - the owners of this hotel are such lovely people too! I would love to stay again on my next visit home to Sussex! This visit I stayed at The Grand Eastbourne & The Relais Cooden Beach - but Ravillious was by far my favourite of all 3! If you can get a reservation - definitely book in here!

It's so good - it's always booked up!

It started way before travelling, when the hosts were very responsive to my request. Then, on the day, they were very accommodating of my very early breakfast (5 am) and dietary requirement (vegan).

That's very picky. And it's more a room for improvement rather than anything. I would have loved to check out later than 10:30 am. I was doing the middle-distance triathlon, and having a shower post-race would have been nice. I started at 6 am, finished just before 12, so a 1 pm checkout would be great.

The hosts are really nice and welcoming and the breakfast is just superb! Although there is no air conditioning, there are fans placed all around the room which makes it quite comfortable despite the heat outside. Would come back in a heartbeat - can only recommend!

Die Lage zum Zentrum und Meer ideal, nur ein paar Minuten Fußweg und man kommt an den Strand zum Schwimmen. Sehr nah am Bahnhof, was für mich wichtig war. Frühstück ist sensationell, wird frisch zubereitet und Caroline und Chris sind total tolle Vermieter und geben einem das Gefühl der erholsamen Ferien. Das ganze Haus strahlt eine wunderbare Atmosphäre aus und mein Einzelzimmer war sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Immer frisches Wasser und Kekse auf dem Zimmer und viele kleine Details machen den Aufenthalt total relaxed.

Chris and Caroline are the perfect hosts. They’re very attentive, entertaining, and always friendly. Breakfast was simply wonderful—everything was freshly prepared, and they mainly served local products. In the evenings, it was also wonderful to relax in the small bar while enjoying interesting conversations with the hosts.

This is an absolutely gorgeous place to stay, we stayed in room 10 which has a free standing bath in front of the windows, a fab walk in shower and bathroom and many other features .Chris and Caroline are everything you want for your hosts, very welcoming, informative if you don’t know the areas and the breakfast is really good . We had just a lovely stay, thoroughly recommended

Five star … fantastic attention to detail. Chris and Caroline are fantastic hosts and nothing too much trouble. The breakfast was exceptional and beautifully presented by Chris. The location is superb as walking distance to everything such as the pier, station, excellent restaurants, shopping etc.

Not a dislike as such but lots of stairs to attic room so not good for anyone infirm and floorboards creaked but a minor issue.

Lovely welcome, the room was spotless, fresh and the bed comfy. We had a drink in the garden before going out for the evening, a lovely calm oasis to relax. Breakfast was well organised and there was a nice buffet selection (overnight oats were yummy!) and the full English and eggs Florentine were cooked to perfection. We felt very at home and highly recommend.

A well designed, spacious and quiet room, large bathroom with a great shower, friendly hosts and a really good breakfast. Location is close to the seafront and to the centre. Couldn't have asked for more pleasant stay.

The location was close to downtown and train station.

This was the 3rd time I've stayed here. Chris and Caroline make you feel really welcome, the rooms are well furnished and equipped. Breakfast is cooked to order, and there's plenty to choose from.

The breakfast was exceptional and original with high quality ingredients and made to order. The owners and staff were extremely friendly and helpful with excellent local knowledge. Special touches - many books on the locality to borrow, tea, coffee and good choice of biscuits in the rooms, local beer in the bar. Very comfortable bed.

Lovely little independant hotel in a residential road close to beach front. Owners were super lovely and hotel was spotlessly clean. Just personal preferences would be to have a full length mirror in the rooms and a larger TV, but that's minor details for a very enjoyable stay. Breakfast was superb.. Our hosts, Caroline and Chris, were the highlight of our visit. They were so warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. They are clearly experts on the area and gave us a fantastic list of local eateries to try, which really helped us make the most of our short trip. The room itself was remarkably comfortable—perfect for a restful night's sleep. To top it all off, the breakfast was absolutely amazing, with fresh ingredients and plenty of care put into every plate. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend it to anyone!

Beautifully restored by the owners and in an ideal location for the town centre, beach, art gallery, tennis, theatre and restaurants. Chris and Caroline are perfect hosts, always smiling, friendly and helpful. My Superior Single room was very well appointed and breakfast was excellent.

I loved absolutely everything about the property and the way it is run, but at 86 ideally needed to be several years younger to cope with the outside flight of steps and two internal flights of stairs. Sadly, not for anyone with mobility issues. However, Chris carried my small case for me and it was good exercise!

The quality. Immaculately presented. Chris and Caroline were friendly and put you at ease. The food was excellent and locally sourced even the jams and some of the alcohol.

The location was absolutely amazing wow literally in the centre of town. The breakfast was ok the egg was poached and a little bit snotty and the tomatoes could have been cooked. However they were so accommodating for me as I am a coeliac so attentive and so kind I felt like a VIP.

The room was a little cold, not as in heat as it was very warm but as in almost a bit cold because the floor wasn't carpet so almost clinical like. The draw by the at TV just kept opening by itself. I kept banging my leg on the bed. Absolutely amazing for one night but any longer it would have felt like a hostal.

It was extremely well furnished and everything was of a high quality. The breakfast was varied and very good. The owners were both very friendly . It was well located for access to the town and promenade, the theatre, the LTA club and the Towner museum. We particularly liked the Ravilious theme to the hotel and would recommend visiting the museum to learn more about the artist.

The staff are truly incredible. The place is beautiful, and we very much enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was delicious, they gave us tips for activities during the day, and they were very diligent with everything.

There is really nothing to worry about... Perhaps a quick heads-up: when booking the executive room, make sure you ask for the tub if you want it. I had booked assuming all executive rooms had one. It turns out that one does and the other doesn't, and we ended up with the room without the tub. So just remember to specify when you book :).
