Commodore Hotel

Location fantastic, staff very friendly and helpful. Hotels character was in evidence but modern standards maintained.

This hotel is bordering on being a national treasure. It has wonderful character and has kept much of this while keeping pace with modern standards. It is such a pity that the meal we had in the restaurant was of such a low standard. I had a friend and his family visiting from the continent and recommended we meet and eat in the hotel for convenience. His children have just started to like steak and I'm concerned this experience will put them off. The steaks were not cooked as requested. They were so incredible tough that everyone actually struggled to cut them. I also had to go and ask for steak knives (these should have been provided) but this made little difference. They were under seasoned, dry and tasteless. Any cook (let alone chef) worth his salt should be able to cook a steak. I know of several places not too distant from the Commodore that for much the same price you'd get a juicy steak done to your liking. This was not a good advertisement for our grass fed beef that we peddle overseas.

Excellent location within an easy walk of the main shopping district, and Hop On - Hop Off bus just 2 minutes away. Friendly and helpful staff eager to assist me with information to sort out my mobile coverage issues. Lovely older hotel with history and period furnishings. Comfortable bed, great food in The Vault. A brilliant start to my Ireland stay.

We were upgraded and the suite was stunning. Easy check in. Great location. Staff were mostly attentive and helpful.

The staff on the breakfast shift ignored us for quite a while. They were chatting and it wasn’t the breakfast experience I would have expected. I felt they were just kids chatting and hanging out. One girl was doing most of the work. The food was ok too but not exceptional. But the overall hotel experience was uplifted by the beautiful room.

Room was sparse and very dated. Car park a very depressing space and poor advert for the hotel.

Great hotel with everything you need for your stay! We didn't eat there so can't comment on dinner or breakfast. We parked right outside of hotel on the on street parking. Room and bathroom were a great size. A complimentary rubber duck was a great treat along with biscuits and muffins.

We found the location excellent everything is so handy. Unfortunately we were very disappointed by the breakfast and decided not to eat there again for breakfast. The evening meal was good and so was the service.

The breakfast menu was not comprehensive enough - choice was limited and descriptions vague.

Accueil très sympathique par un jeune français (corse), bonne communication et conseils. Très belle vue sur mer. Smart TV. Chambre confortable.

Manque prises de courant. Trouvé plusieurs cheveux dans la literie et la salle de bain.

Staff were exceptionally friendly. Our room was beautifully clean and much larger than expected, it was our first time staying away with the baby and appreciated the space for the little one, plus a cot was provided and dressed ready for us on arrival. Loved the historic charm of the building. A drink on the rooftop watching the ships pass by was fabulous.

Tricky place to navigate with a buggy due to stairs through the hallways, but we were informed of this well in advance as the hotel itself is a historic building.

The location could not have been better, we could look at our windows to see the beautiful harbor and the lovely park right near the water. It was also a block away from the immigration, museum and close to lots of restaurants. This made it a perfect choice.

This is something that cannot be helped, but the hotel is old and it definitely shows its age, even though it’s going through remodeling.

The bed covers were heavy which made it difficult to get heat regulated.

Its location is excellent. It's right beside everything you need and its only a 3 min stroll from the train station which is only 25min into cork city. The staff in the hotel were all amazing.

Cobh can get very busy when there are 2 cruise ships in Dock. I would advise during cruise season to book restaurants ahead of time.

Tolle Lage an der Strandpromenade, Aussicht auf Bucht, sehr grosses Zimmer. Personal sehr nett und hilfsbereit.

Isolation der Fenster. Insgesamt etwas in die Jahre gekommen (wie die meisten Hotels in Irland). Frühstück etwas eingeschränkt (z.B. keine frischen Früchte).

Sehr gute Lage und große Zimmer.

Leider hat es im Zimmer sehr feucht und muffig gerochen obwohl scheinbar versucht wurde es gut zu lüften. Für diese Preisklasse ein ‚no go‘.😶

Location was perfect! Everything you needed was right at the doorstep. The hotel room was immaculate with a stunning sea front view. The staff were all more than willing to help, and made my daughter feel so loved.

For smokers shocking in the back off hotel the same morning out there it lashed out off the heavens place was flooded out there so called shelter ready to fall I reported it to staff and asked would they go and look for themselves fair bad have to say

The location is excellent. The rooms were very clean.

We booked two rooms for a family of 5. They didn't consider that we were a family when allocating the rooms. Our rooms were far apart from each other.

Very clean and staff very helpful! Luckily came out of a draw to be upgraded to a suite which was spectacular with beautiful sea view!

Curtains don't meet in the middle.

We loved the Westbourne Suite and Darina and Vivienne went above and beyond to help us and make us welcome...Excellent customer service from them and other staff.

The bar area was very quiet and no residence bar so we went up town for a drink.

Perfect location with everything walkable. Staff was very friendly at the car park behind was convenient.

We had asked for two rooms by each other but that was not passed through to the hotel so they were unable to accommodate.

Great hotel in excellent location in this seaside town. The room was compact but usable. Bathroom and shower was excellent. Cobh was pretty quiet due to no cruise liners in - it would've been a lot more busy after we left given a cruise longer had just arrived.

There weren't to many charge points in the room (power and USB) which was a bit of a hassle. Our room backed into the kitchen vents which meant it was pretty noisy when we had the window open. No aircon but we managed.

The bedrooms & bathrooms have been refurbished to a high standard and are very comfortable. The location couldn't be better as it's right on the harbour beside restaurants, cafes and bars. Breakfast was really good quality and very reasonably priced. The staff were excellent - very helpful and friendly. It was Cobh Regatta when we were there & there was a great buzz around the town. The addition of the rooftop terrace was an added bonus. We took our drinks up and were able to watch the bands playing in comfort.

This isn't a negative, just a suggestion. The rooftop terrace is quite basic and could definitely be improved. It would be a super addition to the hotel.

The location was amazing, staff were lovely.

Room was very stuffy and next to the elevator so not good if you want to get some sleep. There was only one plug socket on the floor, it was coming off the wall and overall a dangerous location to have a plug as there was also carpet and it just looked like a fire hazard. The shower was only 1 temperature and the shower head wouldn’t stay up, the remote for the tv was dirty even tho it was put into plastic to seem like it was cleaned (had some white ish residue on the buttons)

A good size room, that was well appointed and had most things we needed.

The shower was fiddly to use, was not separate. Had to climb into a bath to shower. There was no air-conditioning and left window open but was a little noisy.

The location is perfect! Right on the front of the harbour/sea walk and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and very helpful! The bedroom and bathroom were newly decorated to a high standard and were quite large. In fact the whole hotel had been refurbished to a high standard but had retained its old world charm.....Would definitely stay again!

View from our room was terrible, overlooking some large vents. Food and drink in bistro was overpriced for what we received.

The hotel is very well run with very polite staff. It is in such a good location..right in the middle of Cobh. the sea facing rooms were so nice. We woke up to the sound of ships docking in the bay through 2 huge bay windows..lovely.

Nothing really but if there was a self service breakfast option it might be nice. I suppose its what we are used to... However, we did not have to wait at all to be served food at the table.. very quick and to a high standard!!
