After driving nine hours from South Florida, we ended up here for some nice R and R after some big rain storms and Thunder and lightning along the way. This hotel used to be the W and now moved over to a JW Marriott. You can still see the old decor from the W days. A quick check in at the front desk and we placed our bags in our suite, room 404. It was clean, very spacious, and with comfortable beds, nice roomy shower. We went straight to the Ledger Bar and Lounge for a drink and a bite to eat. And met SAMONE behind the bar. She was great at her job, she gave us recommendations and informed us of menu in detail. Overall, nice hotel, many upgrades, nice decor, valet parking, awesome ambiance, great club lounge for that quick bite, coffee for breakfast and soft drinks plus superb bartender from my fellow Brooklyn sister, SAMONE!!! First time here and we will be back!!!
I visited twice ...as the hotel was transforming from W Atlanta Midtown to its present state, JW Marriott! Tyteana Gutumore (sp?) at front desk remembered me both times. She was in training the first time I was there. But Emanuel Phillips who was there as the W was ending was no longer there when I did my second visit. He informed that big things were coming in the way of a transfer so good for him! Great stay both times!
I went into this experience knowing there might be a few challenges due to the recent change in management, and while there were a handful of minor bumps along the way, they did not detract from my overall stay. The staff was wonderful, the dining experience was excellent, and I felt genuinely welcomed throughout the property. The lobby bar and restaurant were beautifully maintained, offered top-notch service, and created a great atmosphere. The Director of Food & Beverage was especially attentive and clearly invested in ensuring guests had a positive experience. Overall, despite a few minor issues, the hospitality and service made for an enjoyable and memorable stay.
This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Upon arrival, we were unsure we were in the right place because there was no one outside. The hotel was under construction, which I was not made aware of at booking. The elevators were down and no one told us. We waited on the 11th floor for an elevator for about 10 minutes when finally a hotel guest let us know to take the freight elevators. The main restaurant was closed so we paid for expensive food in what appeared to be a conference room. I woke up at 2:30am from what sounded like explosions. When I called the front desk they said it was people showing off their engines. These loud explosions went on for over an hour. Upon check out, I mentioned not being able to sleep and was told, that it was because of a public parking lot and there was nothing they can do about it. She brought over a manager who didn’t speak to me, but handed me a receipt with a $100 credit. The room cost me $440 for the night so the credit was insulting. After leaving, I noticed the valet left a long black pen mark on the leather interior of my door. I would not stay at the W in Downtown Atlanta again if someone paid me.
EVERYONE, ASK FOR YOUR REFUND!! We booked the w hotel for spring break because of their pool, and was told on the spot that they closed it, without any prior communication about this. The manager refused to book us at a different Marriott hotel or even give us breakfast vouchers. With a surly attitude , the manager just gave us a final offer of $100 refund in total, take it or leave it. Later when we talk to other guests at the hotel, they were equally upset about the false advertising but did not even get a refund simply because they did not ask for it. So don't let Marriott (a 30 billion dollar worth hotel chain) sweep it under the rug and get away with it. Call them for a refund, if you recently stayed there and experienced the same issue; ask them to lower the price, if you are planning to book here; share your experience and their response here and on google map if you have negotiated with them. Organize = power.
They are doing construction but didn't bother telling me. The pipes were sending up gross dirt into the sink. The hotel restaurant and bar is more like a coffee shop. And the Internet went out.
It was right in the middle of everything we were set to do when we got there. The staff was amazing at letting a 3rd party come set the room up for my gf as a surprise. They were super sweet and friendly.
The only downside was they were doing renovations so we didn’t get to use the wet bar lol 😂
The renovated room was nice
Never was told about construction when booking so there was dust everywhere in the lobby areas. VERY loud construction noise starting at 7:30-8am every single day.
Room was nice
Construction waking us up everyday. Never notified about it beforehand so it was not a pleasant stay. Dust everywhere. Common areas mostly closed.
Room was comfortable
Construction noises waking me up everyday. Extremely loud. I was never informed of the construction when booking. Most common areas were closed and the ones that were open were covered in dust from construction.
This hotel was in a oretty nice walkable area, clean hotel, great restaurant, nice atmosphere, clean and tidy roads with minimal road noise. Nice service and an amenities and a decent value. The reason why this is a 4 star property is because of the renovations going on and we also couldn’t enjoy the pool.
The location.
Some of the amenities they advertised weren’t available like the rooftop pool wasn’t heated, room service never answered the phone when I was trying to order, the front desk never answered the phone when I was trying to notify them & the valet parking that I paid for never answered the phone whenever I was trying to receive my vehicle I had to physically walk down there & show them my ticket & wait outside until they go retrieve my vehicle & last but not least the property was under construction inside & outside of the hotel extremely loud with sawing, grinding, hammering & yelling while they were remodeling this hotel the entire visit that they never notified anyone on the site about & never acknowledged or apologized for the inconvenience our trip to relax. SMH!!!!
Locations and views.
It’s was under construction and cars had to be valet parking.
Clean and friendly staff
Nothing
The parking was charged even I was the hotel guest.
The rooms were very nice and clean. The food was also good and it was in a good location… close to the aquarium and park area and we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go to
Right off the bat when we arrived the whole front was closed off under full construction… dust everywhere and loud chainsaws and tools actively in use. To the point where I couldn’t hear the front desk employees talking to me… We had no idea this was happening obviously, otherwise I would’ve chose another hotel…. Anyways I looked passed it and looked forward to going to the pool, and it was closed!!! We couldn’t use it. Went upstairs for a meal which took long but was delicious and the waiter was very kind. The phone in our room didn’t work. We spoke to the front desk and they offered us $50 and late check out. It worked out for us but we were still upset about the pool situation more than anything as it was part of our itinerary.
Let us check in early and was pretty clean.
I was charged for a room service item that I did not use. I could tell it was missing when I checked in because everything else was full. They charged me because they didn’t stock it before our stay. This is sloppy behavior.
Chic
I booked directly with the hotel instead of a booking site the people we met at the hotel booked through a booking site rooms were better and we payed more found that off
Nothing. Lobby completely under renovation can’t even access anything and staff was very unhelpful
Staff, location and visuals
Newly Renovated
I booked the hotel for a business trip, location was convenient for what I needed. The property though is undergoing major renovation but, didn't have the courtesy to inform its clients. The lobby is actually a construction site and what's even worse is that they are accommodating clients in rooms that are right by where the works are going on. I was assigned a room right underneath where they are doing renovations and had to cope with workers drilling, literally drilling, the entire afternoon, on top if my head. I called the from desk reporting the problem but beside saying they were sorry, didn't do anything. Not even tried to offer any help or change my room Needless to say that they want see me again but if you are going to book the hotel please be aware of the building construction and ask them fro confirm that your room won't suffer from noise
Great hotel
Nothing I didn't like
I really liked how clean the rooms were. And also how nice the staff was.
Nice hotel loved that we had a DJ two nights throughout our stay in the lobby. Staff was very nice will return.

I liked the hotel lobby
Im absolutely disappointed at the customer service of this hotel . I will never recommend anyone here & I will be leaving a review everywhere that allows me too! For starters im a single mother with 2 kids UNDER 2 immediately AFTER I payed for our stay I was told they couldn’t give me the room I paid for. It was late and I needed to get my babies to bed so I pushed forward. Then I was told to bring my vehicle to valet, which was expected but my problem lies in how rude they was with the short answers & rude stares. I then ask if I can have a luggage dolly considering I could not carry my 2 babies and all of our luggage with out it . I was told no and also did not receive any help to accommodate the fact that they were unwilling to get me a dolly. I continued on considering I already paid for the room and for valet. When I get up to the room it’s absolutely inappropriate! The website does not make it clear that this is not a family friendly hotel & I am absolutely disappointed & disgusted from the bodily fluids & neglected furniture to the evidence of sex EVERYWHERE . I had to put down clothes just to feel comfortable allowing my babies to sleep here & for THE PRICE ?! I’m extremely upset will be leaving picture proof evidence everywhere I can considering this hotel does not make it clear that this is a adult hotel ! & I have yet to mention the concierge who WOULD NOT STOP starring at me I felt like this hotel was not safe !
The pool was nice
Racism
Nothing
The water wouldn’t drain in the shower or the sink. Had the room smelling awful. The front desk only offered $50 towards their restaurant and bar
Under renovation Spa closed Noisy
The construction going on is insane. There was literally jackhammers on the floor above my room from 9am-5pm. Luckily I was gone during the day but intentionally tried to wait until after 5pm to go back to the hotel and left for the airport early to avoid it.
It was quiet and safw
Construction and parking options
This hotel is currently a disaster. It is undergoing a full renovation (which we were not notified of beforehand or during booking). No amenities were available for use, construction noise woke us up in the morning, the room we had was not particularly clean and painfully ugly. Given how our room looked, I understand why they are renovating, but I paid a lot of money to stay in a nice hotel, and this place was terrible.
Location was about it and they had a slice of cake waiting for my child in the room for their birthday. If any of the amenities were in service I’m sure they would’ve been lovely.
Website was unclear just how much was being renovated at the time. When we arrived it may as well have just been shut down until the repairs were over. No parking available, had to pay for it across the street instead of in their garage. We were only staying one night for an 8 year old’s birthday to give them a night of luxury, and this was NOT IT. The cake was the only nice touch. Manager didn’t tell me the elevator required the keycard so I got stuck in there and had a full on panic attack until someone opened it to go to their floor after beating on the doors yelling for someone’s help. No staff came, and the emergency number in the elevator went to a full voicemail box.
OMG. I have been a Starwood/Marriott Platinum traveler for 25 years and have always enjoyed staying at W hotels. Not this one. The lobby is a construction zone. I had to strain to hear the receptionist over the construction noise. The gym is closed. We tried to take a shower before heading out on the town, but the water was lukewarm. I tried to call down on the phone, but the phone had died. At breakfast, the pastries were so stale that they were completely inedible. Clearly, I didn't get the message to avoid this hotel. Hopefully you don't make the same mistake...
Location.
They didn’t answer whatever whenever.
Total construction. Should be closed down.
The view an cleanliness of the room
The property was excellent. There’s nothing to dislike.
Location
Staff availability
Excessive Valet parking $220.00. I was also lied to. I asked if I can park one of the cars nearby and they said no. They had a parking across the street and didn’t tell me about it and that’s not right if I’m asking you. He does not matter how much money I have the amount is excessive $30 is high but $30. I would’ve paid per day per vehicle. The hotel had a nice view and construction going on that did not bother me.
The view
The shower was clogged it up besides that everting else was perfect
Ivan Allen property
Parking
The amenities, the staff, the complimentary drinks and dessert. Hotel was beautiful and so close to the concert.
My wife and I had a terrible experience and we would encourage people NEVER to stay at this hotel. First of all it claims to be a W hotel but it did not live up to the standards of a typical W hotel. The rooms are outdated and dirty, the furniture is chipped, etc. There are many other hotels in the area that are nicer and/or cheaper and will be staying at one of them next time we’re in Atlanta. We also had problems with very loud and drunk guests who were in the room next to us. Finally at 1 o’clock in the morning, I went down to reception to complain. The hotel staff was nice and sent someone to tell our neighbors to keep it down. We also ordered room service, but when the food arrived it was cold. We nicely complained to marriott about our disappointing experience, but all they would do is give us a few thousand Marriott miles (which we are unlikely to use since we’d rather give our business to a hotel that cares about its clients unlike marriott).
Everything was perfect. Will definitely stay again.

I liked everything
They put me on the lowest possible floor. No city view as expected.
everything 10/10
The room service.
I have no dislikes about the property
The scenery
The rooms were small. You can tell. I need a good deep cleaning. The walls were dirty and you have to pay for everything.
Don’t get me wrong the building itself is nice and in a decent location.
The staff didn’t tell me how much she was charging me until after she swiped my card and on top of that she said my partner couldnt pay bc she used my ID even tho he was with me so I had to use my card. I’ve never ever had a situation like that. But on top of all that there was bedbugs in the bed we stayed in and ik this because we woke up with bites all over our bodies
Quiet and clean
Pool area was dated and dull
The entrance was nice
our room was not clean and it had dust on the floor boards and there was damage to the furniture. The carpet wasn't vaccumed. The mirrors had fingers prints and the bathroom had splatter on the walls everywhere. We told the manager and asked to move even though the new guest hadn't checked in they had enough time to move us and fix the issues but they didn't.
