Very dated and not well maintained (e.g. taped up shower handle, loose sink facets)
The bed was comfy
The shower didn’t work
The location. There was tea and coffee in the room, but no biscuits
It was unfortunate chef was ill so only continental breakfast available and they don’t do bar food so I had to go out after a very long day, but then it’s only a short walk from town
Lovely location by the Thames. Close to wide choice of restaurants. Bed and bedding clean and comfortable.
Hotel seems to have many names so even using Google maps we drove past it about 4/5 times. Finding our rooms from reception was like entering a maze. Wasted 5 minutes getting unusual keyless room entry system to work - receptionist could have explained how it worked at check-in.
The room, cleanliness were good and as expected. Location was perfect for my needs.
I was disappointed to have to pay an extra £20 for parking. This was not clear in the booking - it just said parking was available, the main reason for booking with you.
Location
Appalling. Room was dirty, holes in the wall, dust and spiders everywhere. Bedding was a sheet and two thin pillows, bed was broken. Bed side lamp didnt work. A man tried to repeatedly enter our room. Breakfast was not as advertised. Few bits left under heat so inedible and flies everywhere. We contacted booking.com and the hotel requesting a refund. We were ignored by the hotel and only compensated £19 from booking.com in the form of a voucher. Not safe for female travellers.
Location ,proximity to the river footpath ,close to town ,has it own carpark Some of the senior staff were excellent Stayed in a privilege room which was very good ,excellent shower
The internal restaurant and bar is run by another company not the hotel and restaurant was closed for the full duration of my 3 night stay in September ,staff did not declare this On check in ,i had actually swopped local hotels and cancelled a booking elsewhere to one with a restaurant .Very large bed so i had issues with undersized bottom sheets moving But few nights in realised the two mattresses weren’t zipped together .Restricted to requesting tea bags to just 2 per day per room ,that was a hotel first for me.
Plenty of parking, rooms are a good size with air con. Staff are good, all areas were very clean.
It is next to a busy road.
Check in was easy.
Cost of breakfast, and the bar closed to early.
Location
Booked for breakfast and they had no chef for hot food!! Staff on reception looked like they didn't want to be there, very miserable. Very noisy all night in corridor outside room so a bad nights sleep!! Room very tired looking, needs updating. Didn't even ask when we checked out if everything ok
Water pressure didn’t allow for a shower and the shower head needed replacing
Good location
It was during a heatwave, but no aircon.
Convenient to where we needed to go.
Hotel Restaurant closed. Hotel was hard to find.
Quiet, shops very local & parking.
Nothing, enjoyed our stay & would stay again.
Close to the airport
Location by the river.
On arrival the extra charge for pets was 150 % more than the expected fee per bring fido booking policy. We booked family room and we're allocated a double room with no sofa bed for our teenage daughter and had to go back to reception to sort it out. The hotel offers the breakfast option and we were told , that due to staffing issues only continental breakfast is available which wasn't the same every day....one thing only available every day was cereal... the pastries and croissants were only one off and there was limited fruit. One day there was no white toast bread on offer...... Very dissatisfied and disappointed.
The hotel was located right next to the River what was very nice but it had a walkthrough through it what was very loud at night especially on the weekends
The rooms are very disgusting is one word to put it it had stains up the walls to carpets mould in the bathroom on the roof I complain to reception and they did move us to a different room what didn't have mold but once again stains on the carpets marks all over the walls the French doors did not lock what was very dangerous if you had children because it LED on to an upstairs balcony the two rooms we were in was downstairs number 11 and second floor 36
It is a very tired room, I had to change it.
I have not been able to secure an invoice since my stay which is very problematic.
Wonderful charming location by the river, nice room, all very well
The hotel was in an excellent location. The river Thames could be seen from our bedroom window. The room was spacious and provided what we needed. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and were on hand to assist.
The room could have been cleaner with sticky marks on the dressing table and bedside tables. The fridge advertised was barely cold and was unclean.
아침식사는 7시 정시에 나오지 않고 시간이 늦어지는 때가 자주 발생했습니다. 그리고 메뉴가 늘 같아서 조금은 지루한 면이 있었습니다.
For the price it was absolutely brilliant. Very clean, comfortable and ideal location for what we were doing.
The rooms were so hot it was unbearable to sleep. In the middle of the heatwave could possibly do with updating that although comfortable just extremely hot.
Location was great
Room was extremely hot, air con unit did not work. All power went off in the middle of the night. Lots of weird things happened, strange people trying to enter our bedrooms. A member of staff tried to coerce me into the bin area.
Very disappointing stay at Sunday Staines Upon Thames. I booked a Privilege Room but found mould covering the ceiling, with expected amenities such as complimentary bottled water also missing. The fire alarm repeatedly went off throughout the night, seriously disrupting my sleep. The shower was also unusable as the control knob was broken, meaning there was no hot water. The following morning, I was told at check in that breakfast was included, only to be charged £15.95 when I attended. To make matters worse, I found a bug in the food, making it completely inedible. Despite raising this, I was not offered a refund. I subsequently submitted a formal complaint with photographs of the mould and insect, but I have received no response from the hotel whatsoever. Mould, a broken shower, repeated fire alarms, incorrect breakfast information and an insect in the food are completely unacceptable. This was a very poor experience and nowhere near the standard I would expect from a hotel.
It was enjoyable to relax and have a simple meal on the terrace next to the river. The hotel is quite close to Heathrow airport, and parking was available on site for a fee.
The communications through WhatsApp were somewhat confusing - e.g. I was advised by the Sunday London that a check in form would be sent to me before arrival to be completed ahead of check in. However, the form was sent to me late (8:30pm) on the day of my stay and after I had already arrived and checked in.
Lobby is okay with TV and cooler than the room
The room is super hot and from evening is not possible to open the window as the flies are coming in. Super hot

Location, Staff, Breakfast
Nothing. It was falling apart and dirty
The place needs knocking down. It was disgusting
Great sized rooms with everything you need. Thought the use of entry codes into rooms was a great idea.
No air conditioning and not enough fans for every room so it was VERY warm!
No breakfast without extra payment. No staff at the bar for ages. Main issue is calling themselves T5 online to potential airport users yet not being there at all and are a 20 minute drive away. No sheets on the bedding! Dirty walls. Car park is first come first served and you have to pay. They dont answer calls or emails
Pleasant stay ☺️
Do not book this place. It lies on their website saying its just minutes away from Terminal 5. Its advertised as a terminal 5 airport to con people. Ita 20 minutes away with not enough car spaces! They wont let you cancel...do not answer calls or emails. Avoid
Super friendly and helpful staff. Very nice view on the river. Great parking off the street. Super vlose to Thorpe Park.
Nothing. Its a typical english older building but nicely done up and totally suitable for our one night stay.
Close to Thorpe Park which is why we were there
Noise from the traffic
In a great location to explore Staines and wider.
Issues with the shower-this appears to be a recurring issue-maybe it’s just me. The shower/bathroom facilities could do with an update
Rooms were nice and comfortable
The breakfast was awful, every single item was badly cooked.
Convenient room for a night stay if you need to get back to Heathrow from a longer layover. The room has a good bed and a TV if needed along with a tea set and air conditioning. It's a simple and decent room if you are planning to go places and have a place to come back for the night as well. The area was great, right next to River Thames and a big shopping center called Two Rivers which gathers a lot of visitors when open. Also a nice park a short walk away, and if you just want a small taste of England, the atmosphere felt very nice. I'd have gone to London if I had more time but Staines was a lovely alternative.
Long hallways to get to your room and the overall cleanliness felt okay but not pristine. It wasn't dirty, just not clean.
The room was way too hot
The location right on the banks of the Thames with beer garden
There was no quilt on the bed
Good location and price.
We couldnt get rooms next to each other, not a deal breaker though.
The location of the hotel was great as it was near the train station and shops. The bed was very comfortable and the check in was super easy.
The bathroom door didn't lock and the tap was incredibly squeaky.
The location on the River Thames is excellent with seating by the river ideal for evening drinks and breakfast. The price of the rooms in this location represented good value for money. No evening dinner option was not a problem as many restaurants and pubs ar ein easy walking distance in the delightful town centre.
Lack of air conditioning in the bedroom was disadvantageous, especially during the summer 2026 heatwave. The bar shut early and refused to serve four of us at c.22:30 even though we were residents, very disappointing. Breakfast was a crush due to a large coach party which remained long after our advised 08:00 start. What cooked breakfast that remained was old and tired.
The staff was kind, courteous and helpful. The place was well-maintained and clean.
Nice hotel close to ammenities
Room was very warm and the air con machine provided didnt work very well also the curtains dont shut properly! Not ideal when the sunshines thru wakin us up at 4am
Location
I was told there would be centralised aircon there was not. The fan was broken I requested another I was refused and I was told the people on the top floor were hot and they need the fans. The room was dirty, uncomfortable absolutely unbearably hot, toilet was rotting. Dust everywhere.
Branding doesn't make it clear the hotel is called Thames Lodge. Expensive parking. Room not fully made up, eg, duvet and kettle were in cupboards. Worked as sheet was enough in the heat.
Vile ....avoid at all costs. Our room was filthy , smelly and hot ! The room smelt dirty and old. There was even dust on the soap dispenser in the bathroom .... which it's self was disgusting, water marks all over the celling and dirty shower and bath. I asked for a refund today , but this wasn't possible as we have to contact the head office !! One last point the pictures of the hotel have been photo shopped the pictures do not reflect reality !
I liked the fact it had a terrace for drinks on the waters edge which was in the sun - near to the town for anything needed
the hotel needs a refurb, chipped dull paint everywhere, no adding drinks or anything to the room it all had to be paid including parking for 24 hours - sheets had blood stained on them and had to ask to change it - balcony is shared so you can't have the doors open overnight as the next room shares it, plus absolutely filthy defo not hoovered let alone washed down ( shared balcony isn't mentioned anywhere when booking or at the hotel ) only one lot of towels in room and one teabag, no bottled water - very basic .. rooms very dark so had to have lights on all the time and cannot see the river even tho a river view due to trees, no air con altho it does have the grills for it so just a basic fan, I took a mini fridge for meds and I got there an 3/4 hour before check in and asked could I just plug the fridge in for meds ( hottest day that day and stuck on m25) was told room was ready and it's an extra £15 ... was later told by someone else I shudnt have be charged due to it being ready anyway ... woman on reception blunt and rude, didn't want to help at all - overall so disappointed I'd booked for a week for partners work access and we left after a day, rung the complaints line and to date not heard anything back at all .. the basic hotels are much better than this one - they don't seem to care at all about customer service
I am extremely disappointed with my stay. From the moment we arrived, everything seemed to go wrong. We arrived at around 9pm after an exhausting journey due to multiple train cancellations and delays. After finally getting to the hotel, we walked into a room that felt like an oven. In 32°C weather, there were no windows open, no fan running, and nothing had been done to make the room comfortable for guests despite the extreme heat. The room itself was also very disappointing. It looked nothing like the photos advertised. The kettle was broken, one of the lights didn’t work, and the overall condition of the room was poor. Cracks all on the walls also To make matters worse, there was nowhere to keep drinks or medication cold. There was no fridge in the room, no communal fridge available, and even the bar had no ice available for guests. During such extreme temperatures, I find this completely unacceptable. The water they did have for guests was tap water and hot as was sitting on a ledge by a window in this heat. The customer service has been equally poor. The staff were unhelpful and came across as rude whenever I asked for assistance. When I requested the manager’s email address to raise my concerns, I actually had to argue with the receptionist before they would provide it. As a paying customer, I should not have to fight simply to contact management. Overall, this has been one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. The lack of basic facilities, poor maintenance, and disappointing customer service have completely ruined what should have been an enjoyable stay. I would not recommend this hotel and certainly would not stay here again.
The scenery, facilities and cleanliness were great
The heat we experienced on the top floor was unbearable, i understand the outside temperature was beyond your control but consider shutting down the top floor in extreme temperatures as it was at least 5 degrees hotter than the floor below and made the room unbearable,.the fan supplied just pushed the hot air around, maybe consider investing in air conditioning for the top floor As a result we barely slept
Anna at check in was amazing.
Good location and very clean.
Good location on the Thames/ staines, nice walks along the river, ideal for heathrow airport. All staff very friendly. Great value.
No air conditioning, decor a little dated.
Despite being a self check in hotel, they also had a staff member on duty to assist us. The rooms were spacious, clean and had a very modern finish.
The location was not easy to navigate to.
The location, the breakfast was good
It needed some updates
Quarto estava limpo, espaçoso. Não tomei café no hotel, foi bom pra uma curta estadia e próximo do aeroporto, ainda fizemos um passeio em Windsor.
Location to airport
The rooms we were in bore no resemblance to the photos nor did the hotel. The bar area, the garedens or the views.
The rooms, bathrooms, the hotel in general decor, carpets etc were all very, very tired and worn out, the carpets were old, the timber facade outside in the beer garden was crumbling, again ot was tired, dirty and messy, the paintwork needed redecorating throughout the hotel and the bathrooms were not the modernised refitted ones in the pictures of the privilege rooms we booked but grotty, moldy ones with tired baths and broken shower rails and broken sinks, no working extractors and broken bins. The bed matresses in our room, number 3 were old marked and bobbly, the bedding was equally tired and our quilt was marked with burns and yellow stains. The furniture was again all old and chipped or scratched. The room was marketed with a Nespresso coffee machine and coffee as part of the package, but there wasnt one in the room, and i had to go and get one provided because they werent going to, as they were offering a kettle only with instant coffee.
Sadly, although the very dedicated team of staff from the receptionist, the managers, both general and night, to the bar maid/waitress to the handy man were all lovely and they clearly work very hard and put on a great show, supporting the customers with anything they can, they are fighting an uphill battle with a tired old hotel. The owners really need to back their team with serious investment in the sad old place. The superior privelege double rooms my family and i stayed in bore no resemblance to the photos that got us to book in for 2 nights at the hotel in Sunday and Monday of this week. The photos you see of the hotel, the rooms, the gardens, the riverbank views, bar areas, beer garden etc are very professionally done and the images we looked at pre-booking bore some resemblance to the tired one than we experienced. Our rooms were not the ones in the photos sadly, as ours were tired and worn, with worn facilities, tired old carpets, rough moldy bathrooms and tired decor and furnishings. Our room, number 3 had a broken shower rail hanging off the wall on arrival, someones grotty travel size, home labelled bodywash bottle still in the shower, a broken sink and tiles, none functioning bathroom extraction, a lumpy, bobbly old mattress, and a yellow stained quilt. Our highest end rooms are marketed online with AC and a Nespresso Coffee machine with coffee pods and the usual kettle etc. No AC, just a fan and an oil heater, but there wasn't a Nespresso to be found. Thankfully the very kind general manager fixed that one for us and the handyman replaced the broken shower rail. The staff go above and beyond every one of them, the bar maid/waitress was a,lovely girl who worked like a trojan in the evening and they are all a credit to a hotel that sadly the owners are neglecting.
Location
Noisy - aircraft, trains and people walking by. No soundproofing built into hotel
Nice central location on the river
Location
My riverside view was a tree
Location was good and the size of the room was big, nice view , it was quiet had a good sleep
breakfast poor quality, not enough choice very basic
Friendly staff, good bar and entertainment
Cleanliness of room was disappointing as bin wasn’t emptied and had nappies in it. Mirror and sink tape has marks. Lots of sight of wear and tear. Dusty on TV.
The room was set for single occupancy and we had a double bedroom.
The view, outside terrace. Good bar staff
Door lock not working only 1 towel in the room and no hair dryer.
We stayed here during the heatwave, and unfortunately the room became extremely hot. It was quite small, and despite our best efforts, it was difficult to cool it down, which made sleeping uncomfortable. The shower also needed some attention, as the shower head kept falling off the wall. On the positive side, the room was clean, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and always happy to help. The hotel bar was ok, although the drinks were quite expensive. The location is convenient, with shops within easy walking distance, and parking is available for £10 per 24 hours. Overall, it was perfectly adequate for a short two-night stay, but I probably wouldn’t choose it for a longer visit.
Nothing
It was really dirty, even had open packet of gone off chicken in the fridge from previous guests. Fridge wasn't even working. Hair all over the bathroom. The sink was blocked. Dirty towels and rubbish left in the corridors the whole time we were there.
We refused to stay, it was the worst hotel room i have ever seen, bed was filthy, stains, hairs and lots of black bits on the mattress protector. Out side the room was at least 20 cigarettes butts, room needed a full refurb. First room we paid for a river view and you could not see the river with the trees. It was disgraceful, i work in a hotel and have never seen such a dirty room.
Everything.
Near the train and bus station. The outside area is nice.
We have stayed here last year with no complaints so thought we would upgrade as we did need air conditioning also wanted a river view. There was no air conditioning the view was of a weed filled poorly kept area, couldn’t open doors on to the area as it’s almost on a path so security wise I didn’t want to leave open as we showered, no fan on bathroom so condensation filled the room. Poorly maintained, asked for an iron on the first day, stated we had one in room but just got an ironing board, never got an iron so lent one from another room. Nobody around to ask for more tea or coffee so went and bought some at Tesco. Being woke up and 04:30 by banging and shouting, from then on a constant stream of people, when we left the room we were right near house keeping and kitchen area so we heard all of there movements from early on in morning. Not wise to have rooms beside working areas. Really dissatisfied this year so won’t return as we had busy days so getting woken up at 430 was awful plus it was muggy so sweating but couldn’t open a window as it was door on a path as stated, but no air conditioning. Yes we got a good deal but I doubt we were in a privilege room as standard room was way better. Rebooked next year in another hotel as the “upgrade” has really put me off. We stayed in room 6.
.
.
Great location as visited Thorpe Park the next day. Lovely river views from their garden patio.
Breakfast was expensive for very few options...
room, very clean and comfortable
there was nothing not to like
The convenient location
Tired, old, expensive put together patched up. It really didn’t feel clean. stains on the wall & carpets, hair in the bathroom, things feel grubby. Beds dipping - mattress protector with stains on…..
Riverside location
Problem not getting hot water. Not regular flow ending up with periods of cold water in shower. Then blast of hot water.
The lady on reception was lovely I think her name was Anna? Very helpful and professional.
Location was great. Manager at night was ok. Rooms lights and bed size and mattress were good.
Overall I was very disappointed with this hotel, I booked it for my elderly parents. The cleanliness of the room and carpets was well below an acceptable standard. The bathroom hose was blocked and when I reported the issue a few times, the manager informed us that no plumber was available over the weekend to address any maintenance problems. Unfortunately, the issue was still not resolved on Monday. Everything just felt dirty. We had originally booked the hotel for three nights but decided to leave after two nights without requesting a refund for the unused night. The overall experience simply was not worth the amount we paid. There are much better alternatives available that offer cleaner accommodations and more attentive service. One of the most frustrating aspects was the lack of staff presence at the front desk, often requiring guests to wait a long time before someone became available to assist. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this hotel.
Hotel was nice staff very friendly facilities were very good the hotel room had all the things needed and an ensuite location within walking distance of local shops the bus station and the train station
Walls are very thin and have doors joining the rooms together that let alot of noise through can here every noise coming from the next room included bedroom activity noises the windows are very thin and close to the road so you can hear so can hear all traffic noise going past and it's very loud with all the noise me and my husband were up and down all through the night by the morning we were extremely tired with having broken sleep all through the night
Great location next to the river, walkable from the train station. Had an upstairs room with balcony which was ideal, good breakfast and very helful staff.
Friendly staff
Not as clean as it could have been.
Breakfast was way over priced for what was provided,Room size was good,Housekeeping was good if they ever came we stayed 8 nights they cleaned the room once.Location is good Hotel 1 star
Lack of service,Staff couldn’t care less about anything,Bar staff rarely at the bar to actually serve and drinks so over priced.Cant eat ant bought in food anywhere on the premises and what you pay for at the premises is over priced and revolting
Beliggenheten er super.Frokosten ikke allverden.
Location
No lifts and we were expected to carry 25 kilo cases upstairs! Luckily had a spare room downstairs but had to share a double bed with my friend!
The bed was very comfortable. Staff were pleasant
The room was nothing like pictures shown small not very clean. Paid extra for river view but door lock was broken balcony was filthy full of cigarette ends. Paid extra for breakfast not great was shown buffet style cooked breakfast but was not the case. Very noisy room adjoining door you could hear everything from room next door. Floor boards creaked badly. Only 1 small bedside table not 1 of the best hotels stayed in.
Location was good for what i needed
Room and hotel were dirty. There was literally a dirty food crusted spoon on the table behind the TV. Bed and pillows were terrible and faucet hardly worked
Our first night at this hotel was very bad. It was busy and we were put in the farthest room possible on top floor with no stairs! We had to climb at least 6 flights of stairs and a very long walk with all our baggage. We are in our 70’s. What was very good was that the next morning the manager moved us to very good rooms on the ground floor for the next 2 nights and carried down all our luggage. A very kind gesture that we appreciated greatly.
Not knowing that there are many stairs in this hotel and no lifts. Although it is only two stories high it is very old and many passages to navigate.
room nice size, bed very comfy, great location, staff very friendly
shower kept going hot then cold, so switched to hand held shower which leaked
Close to thorpe park amd nice to be along the river
Dirty anti slip bath mat, masses of hair left in plug hole aswell.
Being right on the river lovely
Shame the cider on tap was off . Shower wasn't great but useable
Balcony room
I didnt get to stay longer
Location and a river view room
