The staff were polite and helpful. The food was nice
The two single beds put together as a double were very uncomfortable. The seating my room were also very uncomfortable. The decor was a bit dated and worn. The early morning breakfast was a bit lacking. The restaurant a bit expensive for the type of food.
Sam at front of house was the calm professional and super friendly centre of the hotel. Clearly doing a lot behind the scenes but calmly. The team in the restaurant mixing cocktails and the chef were also perfect and it was just a really relaxing and stylish stay.
Nothing :-)
Great Hotel. Comfortable and nicely furnished. Bath with loads of hot water, off road parking, good WiFi, close to centre of town, nice restaurant and bar. The man on reception was a delight
The single bed was bigger than expected and very comfortable. Staff were lovely and welcoming, very professional.
Rooms we very spacious and comfortable. The restaurant team was very friendly. Food and drinks were excellent. Even the early morning continental breakfast since as we left at 5am was very thoughtful.
Can’t think of anything we didn’t like.
We spent 3 nights and their service was amazing.. clean and spacious room and a beautiful garden which is perfectly maintained. Not only the rooms but also the restaurant, front hall and the outside were very clean..Food and the staff in the restaurant were amazing.. Everything went well and it’s a great place.. thank you for making our holiday experience unforgettable.. ☺️ This hotel is highly recommended for all..
Location was very good , Staff were pleasant and helpful
The room was quite dated and outside the window was air conditioning unit which was noisy all night , the window was open because it was very warm . Breakfast was lukewarm . Not worth the money we paid
Lovely newly refurbished rooms!
Quite expensive for an overnight stay
The Caberfeidh is an excellent hotel. You will find the rooms to be well appointed and clean. Expect a friendly welcome to the hotel where the atmosphere calm. I found the hotel to be conveniently located to the centre of Stornoway where I had to attend for work. While I did find my room at the back of the hotel a little noisy at night (situated over an area where there was some form of plant situated (either heating or refrigeration) this would not prevent me from seeking to return or indeed recommending the Hotel to others. Finally, the evening meal and breakfast were excellent!
Easy parking, comfy bed and good shower
Breakfast was very average
The hotel was well presented and room was lovely. Very clean. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful especially with dietary requirements for the evening meal. Plenty of parking. My husband didn’t enjoy his breakfast as it was served as buffet in heated containers. Hard mushrooms, bacon etc. didn’t attempt an egg. I had continental which was ok. It would prevent us staying again as it matters. We’ve paid less and had breakfast cooked to order. So on the whole the service was good and ambience fine. But… breakfast???
Lovely hotel, comfortable with friendly staff and a great restaurant. The breakfast was delicious with buffet options as well as menu choices. I would definitely stay there again.
Şehre yakın Temiz
Banyodaki sıcak suyu ayarlamak ve suyu açmak çok zorlayıcı. Gereksiz bir ayarlama düzeni oluşturulmuş.
The front revolving door doesn’t work, so a challenge to enter and exit
We stayed five nights at the hotel in a superior room and found almost everything excellent. The public areas were striking, the food was excellent, the room was nice and the receptionist was very helpful with advice about where to go and things to see. However we found the housekeeping lacking. On the day after we arrived we could see that someone had been in the room but the bed had not been made nor the bins emptied and the bathroom towels were not tidied. We reported this to reception. This seemed to have had some effect because on our next day we found the bed had been made but strangely not the pillows and the towels were still untidiness. On the two subsequent days the room was serviced properly. So the housekeeping was actually done properly on only 2 out of first four days. That is not the standard we would expect from a hotel of this quality. But for this we would have given the hotel a five star rating.
Comfortable room and very clean. In a central location and provided respite from the wild weather. Restaurant was lovely and would recommend the monkfish and the cous cous salad it was delicious.
Great location! Great staff! Lovely decor!
Bed wasn’t comfy and couldn’t control temperature in the room
.Room OK, but probably a bit 'tired'.
Cooked breakfast was, at best, luke-warm. No weetabix cereal option. Room was a bit 'tired', and expensive for what it was. The hotel didn't seem to know we were bringing a dog... we were charged an extra £15 a night (for a room which was already expensive).
Welcoming and helpful staff at reception and in bar/ dining room. Nice comfortable, clean room with drinking water provided.
Lovely hotel.very clean. Bar and restaurant were great. A special mention must go to Gordon on reception for arranging our hotel room at the last minute for us.
Great location, friendly staff, great food!
The weather was hot so the room was really uncomfortable and fans were unavailable at reception when asked for one.
Lovely staff, food brilliant
Room was over hot due to sunny week before. A fan in the room would have helped.
Great location, lovely hotel. Room was absolutely perfect. It was really clean, quiet and cosy. Customer Service was really good when I checked in and checked out. The only thing I would say negatively is its quiet expensive for a Room Only basis. If they offered Corporate Rates I would come here every time I am working Stornoway.
Bel hotel avec toutes les commodités d'un grand hotel moderne. Personnel vraiment serviable et sympatique. La nourriture (repas, petit-déjeuner) était excellente. Merci.
The room was clean and the waiting staff in the restaurant in the evening were lovely.
The room was soulless, it was very expensive and apparently we had been upgraded - I wouldn't have liked to have seen the room we were meant to get. The room was very hot, we had to have the window open and couldn't sleep due to the noise from outside. The view was onto a yard of old rusting cars. We had thought we had booked breakfast but apparently not - the man at reception was very unhelpful. I asked if we could have breakfast instead of the upgrade but he was not interested in my request. He told us our gripe was with booking.com and he was not able to help. His manner was awful.
The location of the property was good…just a minute’s walk into the forest. It was also in close proximity to the town.
Having to fight our way through the revolving doors with our suitcases which stuck as you pushed them was not the best start to our stay. The room was reasonable but lacked a fridge and a safe, basics I would expect for the cost of the room. The room was exceptionally warm and the steam from the kitchen coming past the window did not help. Over our 3 night stay the room was barely cleaned and on our final day I had to ask at reception for the toilet to at least be cleaned. This was done.
Excellent location, spotlessly clean and very friendly and helpful staff!
Bed was large and comfortable. Cooked breakfast was excellent.
Not much room to store clothes. Breakfast buffet was cold. Extractor fan in bedroom didn't work.
Sobretodo que estaba al lado del puerto
Nada
une chambre très spacieuse
Great location, friendly staff, food was excellent at night.
Breakfast in the morning wasn’t great
Thanks so much for a wonderful afternoon! We had a lovely birthday celebration, and the service was exceptional. Special thanks to Marcus for his assistance- will be back very soon !
Le prix est très élevé pour les prestations . La salle de bains est très petite . Le restaurant est très moyen et le petit déjeuner très décevant
Location
Didn't use any facilities
Issue with our room the first night, but this was resolved. Moved to an upgraded room that had been renovated. Reception staff welcoming Restaurant staff attentive
On our first evening we ate in the hotel. I decided on the catch of the day. The fish was served in a large bowl style plate. A large whole fish with eyes, tail, and skin was presented to me. Not the presentation I'd expect from a 4 star hotel.
Excellent Hotel, would stay again. Large room with good facilities. Excellent breakfast. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay
Only small criticism was pillows were slightly hard for my preference
Very convenient location with plenty of parking. Good sized bedrooms with comfortable beds. Would have preferred walk-in shower. Staff all very pleasant and helpful. Exceptionally good dinner.
Excellent hotel and restaurant with excellent staff who understand what great customer service means. Their restaurant is better, on a like for like comparison, with the so called best restaurant in the town!
Food was excellent and location suited us perfectly being just a short walk to town centre and yet easy to get out of town for excursions.
Rooms slightly noisy at times.
Very comfortable room and bed. Good shower and fluffy towels. Good breakfast including the delicious Stornoway black pudding
Room was a bit hot and couldn’t see how to adjust the temperature
Following a cool, lacklustre welcome, I found my room comfortable, clean and quiet. The public areas were very pleasant and the waiting staff were delightful. The food wasn't as good as on previous stays although the scrambled eggs at breakfast were really delicious. This hotel is THE place to stay in Stornoway. Just try being a bit more welcoming.
This hotel, on its website, claims to be "a four-star haven of comfort and style" and during my stay was apparently very busy. But it was actually so quiet and peaceful (car park practically empty, dining room pretty much same, breakfast - only two other couples). Suited me perfectly! The decor is a little tired and dated as was my single room but it has a slight up market feel, is clean and comfortable with well appointed rooms and bathrooms. My room had a Nespresso coffeemaker which was a nice addition I enjoyed. Being on the top floor at the end of the corridor and at the back meant it was quiet enough for me (as a light sleeper). Despite the view of the building tip out of the window (see photo), I was happy with it. The floorboards did squeak as I moved around and I wonder if rooms below would have been so quiet.
I did find the room a bit hot despite it being cool outside that I had to open the window AND strip off (thus having to close the heavy blackout type curtains and turn the lights on in the middle of the day). Other reviews mention hot rooms and management ought to take this more seriously - despite the geographic location! The breakfast selection is brilliant and of a decent quality (plus I asked for "strong" coffee - and that is hat I got - thank you) but the main drawback is that the cooked breakfast is COLD. I love a cooked breakfast and this spoiled it for me. It's a buffet so you can help yourself to as much as you like but the food is just lukewarm and once put onto cold plates it cools down rapidly. My breakfast was stone cold by the time I was eating my final forkfuls. Real disappointment and prevents the fifth star. Please invest in a platewarmer and up the temperature of the cooked breakfast "hot plate" containers.
First time staying in the hotel. First impressions were good - nice open and relaxed reception area. Checking in was very easy and friendly staff. Room was good, Nespresso machine and lovely Stornoway shortbread waiting for me. Room was spotless (as was the rest of the hotel). Breakfast was very good – I had the Eggs Stornoway (local take on eggs benedict)! There were also a hot buffet and continental selection. Had an early start on check out day but the continental choice was available from 05:00 so was able to eat before leaving.
It was a bit farther out of the centre of the town than I realised (about 15 minute walk) but the flip side of that was the area was nice an quiet and very close to golf course, gardens for a nice evening walk.

The hotel was modern, attractive and spotlessly clean. The location was very convenient for the ferry to the mainland. The food was very good and the staff were friendly.
Nothing!
Room clean, and comfortable enough. Hotel staff on the whole were very attentive and helpful. Location is a little way out of town which we liked.
We paid top dollar for our five night stay (literally double what we'd pay for a quality four star hotel in England), expecting something great. Basically, we got a Travelodge with breakfast. And we didn't always get the breakfast. On our last morning at the hotel, we placed our breakfast order with the waitress at 09.00. When it came round to 09.45 and the food had still not arrived, I asked the waitress (who had watched us waiting for forty-five minutes) if there was a problem with the order. She said "Oh... did you order something?" She hadn't given our order to the chef. And we had seen the same thing happen to another couple earlier in the week. This hotel seems geared up mainly to accommodate organised coach parties, and maybe people travelling on business at their employer's expense. For the money we paid, it falls far short of expectations.
Friendly staff and clean , fresh surroundings. I felt the mattresses on the bed in room 101 were either old or too soft, not sure which but very uncomfortable to sleep on. My room was otherwise immaculate. Attended a Ceilidh and meal and was disappointed to see paper napkins…maybe something to consider for the future. The meal was delicious
Always piping hot water. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast had an excellent choice, Portions for dinner were usually appropriate and pleasant.
The dialy catch offered at dinner was often the same. The soup was certainly the same on a few nights consecutively, suggesting that there was quite a lot which had not been used. I was a bit disappointed with the very large size of chips which came with the fried haddock ans small potion of peas.
It was a modern facility.
Beds were concave mattresses, for the price paid I expected a flat comfortable bed.
Gute Lage, grosse Zimmer, modern
Sehr nettes Personal. Zimmer geräumig und Lage zur Bushaltestelle und Supermarkt top.
As it is said to be a 4 star hotel and offering continental breakfast and due to the price of 272 Pounds/Night we were expecting a really comfortable and clean room and a good breakfast as well. Unfortunately what we had was something total different. A room with an mattress on our bed that have seen surely a lot of nights and guests before, a window full with birds excrements on it and furniture without any remarkable standard. Sorry, Cabarfeidh, but in Edinburgh in the centre of the city you get much better place like Apex or Motel One for a much better price (150-200/night) and for us the really beautiness of your island is not an excuse for that ! And concerning the continental breakfast: There was no cold meat platters, no cheese, no bread offered even though your menue said so e.g. "Cold meat platters". And as we asked your stuff due to the menue they said "Sorry Sir, we do not offer this here". If you don´t know how a continental breakfast should be e.g. ask at Motel One they sure can tell you how to do it. So and that is one of the reason for our bad comment: We are still really angry about the price that we paid to you for what we had received for that. What had to go to the nearby CO-OP supermarket and spent quite a lot money there in order to get a proper breakfast for 3 days even though we had pay you before for that. And in addition I had asked you before our stay for continental breakfast per email and you had confirmed having this, but sorry, some Corn-Flakes and fruit only are not making a continental breakfast at all and especially not for a price of 272 pounds per night.
Excellent location in easy reach of the centre of Stornoway. Room was clean but hot! Despite switching off radiators and opening the window as far as the restrictor allowed it remained warm. A kettle on the welcome tray rather than a Nespresso machine would have been an improvement - it didn’t always work well and only supplied small cups of tea or coffee. Staff were welcoming and efficient. Food was good and there was plenty of choice.
I enjoyed my stay. The hotel is modern. Parking is ample. It's conveniently located - walking distance to town and the castle. My room was a bit small and the sound insulation is not great - i could hear everything my neighbours were doing. The staff are great. Super helpful, always positive and willing to answer all questions. They made me feel really welcome. Please note that they have building works in some of the rooms so it can get noisy during the day.
It’s a nice hotel but there are some issues. Room - Beautiful, well appointed, obviously recently renovated. Should have added air conditioning as it was very warm. Unfortunately, the room I was in was above and to the side of the kitchens. The fans were still on when I went to bed and started again around 5 in the morning. This resulted in a poor nights sleep. Bathroom - The door is far too narrow. Bathroom bin had not been emptied. Restaurant - Evening Meal was delicious. Breakfast was poor. All staff I met were very pleasant and helpful.
We had a lovely stay. We were fortunate to be in a newly refurbished room which was done to a high standard. Our friends were in an accessible room which has not yet been refurbished but it was fine and fully met the needs of a wheelchair user, roll in shower etc. The staff were lovely. Our breakfast waitress ensured our particular dietary requirements were met (coeliac disease) and the manager was lovely and had a genuine interest in his guests and was very knowledgeable about the area and available activities. The food in the restaurant was very tasty and beatifully presented. We hope to visit Lewis and Harris again and will definitely stay at the Cabarfeidh Hotel when we do.
I had an unplanned two nights at the Cabarfeidh due to ferry cancellations and everything about my stay was lovely! Really nice room with the comfiest bed! The hotel staff are friendly and helpful and rooms are spotlessly clean. I treated myself to room service both evenings . The food was excellent, perfectly cooked and plenty of it . Compliments to the chef ! I will definitely stay here again at some point. Parking is easy, plenty of space available.Thank you all 😃
Absolutely shocking. Could not sleep in the place for the noise of what we are told is the kitchen extractor fan. Was going very loudly until 1.45 am and sounds like someone is hoovering in the room next to us. Started again at 7 am this morning. Phoned reception around midnight and night porter came up and offered to switch rooms, I explained that's not suitable at this time to ask me and my 72 year old dad to get out of bed, dressed, pack and move room. He said the fan was on a timer and would cut out in 5/10 minutes. It went on for 2 more hours. I've now had 5 hours sleep and a 4 hour drive ahead of me, and this was our most expensive accomodation and last night of the trip, so really just a terrible place to finish our holiday and I would say avoid avoid avoid. I spoke to the duty manager this morning only to get fed some line about because it's through Expedia that he can't do a refund. Don't believe it for a second and I'll be contacting them directly. Was a computer says no scenario and the guy had zero gumption and even less interest in sorting the situation out. Summary: the place looks great and fancy, but it's the worst stay of our trip. The hostel on Barra was £85 for a twin room and was a much better night's sleep than this.

Clean and beds very comfortable
Very friendly staff
Great hotel, with good facilities, professional and friendly staff who just want to make your stay the best they can. Would thoroughly recommend staying here. Good location for the airport, rooms are very clean and comfortable.
No issues. Freshly cooked
No issues
Staff welcoming and attentive without being overbearing. Food excellent. Went there to relax and thats what I did.
Nice rooms and the restaurant food was Really impressive. Would definitely recommend staying there
There was a weird smell in the rooms like smoke but obviously not. It was very noticeable as if it could do with fresh air and air fresheners. Hopefully they can sort this out as the rooms are still lovely and very modern
So what did I expect? Typically, a slightly above average corporate hotel. It is absolutely not that at all. It is way, way more. Somebody, somewhere in the management of this hotel has a passion & very high attention to detail. This includes the quality of staff they have employed. The reception staff (day, evening & night porter) go above & beyond reception duties, providing more of a concierge service personalised for your individual needs. Nothing was too much trouble & staff were attentive. We stayed in one of the newly refurbished double superior rooms. The room was very well laid out, plenty of storage with a very large comfortable bed. Plus the addition of a higher quality Nespresso machine & fully stocked mini bar. Hairdryer, iron & ironing board also in the room. There was an excellent shower with high quality toiletries provided. The quality of food is very high and it surprised me that it is clearly made in house, not one of these corporate delivery meals, which all tastes the same. Just an example, the venison pie was outstanding & I asked the staff to surprise me with the cheesecake of the day, which did - a tiramisu cheesecake that was a perfect balance of flavour. Breakfast was cooked fresh, was also high quality & apparently locally sourced. Restaurant staff were attentive, friendly & welcoming. The staff are a major asset to this hotel - they genuinely want to help their guests enjoy their stay and that has been obvious throughout our stay.
This was an unexpectedly good hotel in this remote corner of the British Isles. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The food was very good and the staff were friendly and helpful, An enjoyable stay,
Great check-in, very helpful staff, room was really clean and tidy and the dinner menu was excellent !
A clean hotel with friendly staff. Comfortable room and very comfortable bed and pillows. I loved the toiletries. One of my favourite brands. The food was fresh and well cooked and the dining area was clean and inviting. The only criticism was the creaking in the room during windy conditions. .However this did not affect our positive experience, and thank you to the friendly and accommodating staff.
The staff were super friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. The location was perfect. Really enjoyed the stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the island
Nothing !
The full Scottish breakfast was superb along with tea OJ & toast, could not fault anything that I was given. The staff were very friendly and a pleasure to be with.
Considering the large price I paid for the stay, i was disappointed to be charged for both an early check in and a late checkout especially when the hotel was obviously not full.
