Hal o the Wynd was well appointed & so comfortable, with a lovely view of the harbour. The owners were accommodating, warm & welcoming.

The breakfast was delicious and the service was exceptional. Our host couldn’t be more helpful, he was charming, knowledgeable, and we were well surprised by his attention to detail. We couldn’t have asked for more.

I can’t think of anything that I didn’t like. It was the perfect place to stay.

Owner was very friendly and helpful - especially reminding us that the ferry to Inverness was leaving 2 hours earlier than usual because of the Celtic music festival ! Very comfortable place to stay !

Alistair & Shona run a very well established guest house which is sited near to the Stornoway/Ullapool ferry terminal and only a few miles away from Stornoway airport. They are friendly people who make you feel very welcome. Our room was clean and comfortable with its own shower and toilet facilities. Breakfast was very nice. The whole experience was extremely pleasant and excellent value for money.

Velmi příjemný hostitel, okamžitě jsme se zde cítili jako doma. Pokoj byl velmi prostorný s výhledem na přístav. Na pokoji byla i chladnička. U postelí jsou USB porty. Všude čisto a velmi útulno. WiFi fungovala perfektně. Bezproblémové parkování, Tesco je hned za rohem. Snídaně velmi dobré, pro hosty s bezlepkovou dietou je zde dokonce i samostatný topinkovač.

Jen drobnost - na dnešní dobu je šířka postele 140cm nedostatečná i pro 2 hubené lidi. V pokoji je místa dostatek a širší postelí by se komfort zvedl o úroveň výše.

Sa situation propre du port des ferry, des supermarchés et restaurants. Appartement très calme et hôte serviable.

La chambre 4 a une salle de bain et wc privatifs mais séparée de la chambre sur le palier, ce qui oblige à de nombreux allers et venues . Forte odeur de moquette dans la chambre. Mitigeur de douche un peu délicat (douche ecossaise)

Super location for ferry & town

Das Hotel liegt sehr nahe am Hafen. Das ist praktisch, wenn man die frühe Fähre nimmt. Um 05:30 konnten wir bereits ein kleines Frühstück bekommen. Das Haus ist alt, aber gut unterhalten und wir hatten ein grosses Zimmer mit einem grossen Bad. Die Besitzer sind sehr nett und wir wurden freundlich empfangen.

Really friendly and informative host with smashing breakfast choice. Good location within easy walking distance of both the town and the ferry.

What we liked most about the property was the interactions with Ali and Shona – – they were superb host and hostess! They were very personable, looked after us individually with breakfast cooked to order, and were very helpful and thoughtful in taking care of our needs – – Ali took time to explain the bus system for us so we could see parts of the island on two different bus routes on Saturday.

Excellent host, location was brilliant for us as we were on push bikes, safe, clean and warm. Felt looked after.

An honestly faultless experience. Hosts were helpful, proactive, and knowledgable. House rules were reasonable and well communicated. Breakfasts proivided were of high quality and functional (and catered well for gluten allergies) and the room was as charming as it was comfortable. Hosts were also good local guides with some great recommendations for what to see on the island.

Die Lage direkt gegenüber der Fähre ist ideal - auch der Weg zur Bar am Abend ist mit max. 10 Minuten prima. Trotzdem war es sehr ruhig

The breakfast was superb. a wonderful selection. Although I didn't have a cooked breakfast there was an excellent choice of items on offer. The location of the guest house could not have been better as it was literally a short walk to the ferry terminal. This was perfect for me as I did not have transport.

Literally can't think of anything I didn't like. The hosts were exceptionally friendly and helpful! My room was extremely comfy and cosy, and had great facilities. even a small fridge. Had a great sleep on the lovely single bed.

The room itself was fantastic. We even had our own fridge which is rare in the UK. Shona and Alister were helpful and gracious hosts. The location couldn’t be more perfect. It’s directly across the street from the entrance to the ferry. Super convenient. And the restaurants and Tesco were all extremely close. We would definitely stay there again.

A cosy, well appointed room run by good, kind-hearted people. A real B&B built on a foundation of hospitality; delicious, thoughtfully prepared breakfast, and care of guests.

Fin beliggenhet i forhold til sentrum og ferjeanløp. Hyggelig rom helt øverst. Badet var ute igangen, men vi fikk utdelt myke varme morgenkåper og kunne nyte utsikten over havna fra et aldeles nydelig bad. Det er ikke mange som har kikkert liggende på badet fordi utsikten er nydelig! God frokost med mange valgmuligheter. Gjestfritt vertskap, som lot oss benytte frokostsalen på formiddagen ved avreise da ferjen gikk først på ettermiddagen.

Litt glatt dusjgulv for gamle damer, ellers var alt helt fint. Savnet bare en gummimatte på dusjgulvet.

Sehr familärer Emofang und nette Gespräche. Das Haus ist gemütlich und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Frühstück hat alle Wünsche erfüllt.

War ein sehr grosses Zimmer mit grossem Bad. Direkt am Fährterminal, aber so gut wie keine Lärmbelästigung durch die Autos bei der Morgenfähre, man hörte so gut wie nichts. Bad auch gross mit Fenster zum Lüften. Frühstück in Selbstbedienung (Kaffee, Toast, Marmelade, Cornflakes) bei Nutzung der 7 Uhr Morgefähre.

beim Boiler in der Dusche war das Warmwasser ziemlich schnell zu Ende.

Alles war perfekt - wunderbare Location, wunderbare Gastgeber*innen - einfach ein tolles Erlebnis! Würde (werde) auf jeden Fall wieder dort buchen, wenn ich nach Stornoway komme! Sehr empfehlenswert! Das alte "Captain's Haus" ist liebevoll renoviert und auf gelungene Weise modernisiert - man spürt die persönliche Beziehung der Gastgeber*innen zum Haus. Frühstück super, Gastgeber*innen super freundlich - besser geht's wirklich nicht!

Gjestfriheten og at det var gjennnomført hyggelig med mange flotte detaljer. Mange skipsmodeller gav et flott maritimt preg. Den ekstra eksklusiviteten med badekåper og håndklær i meget god frottekvalitet var svært velkomment etter 14 dager på reise.

I stay in places all over Scotland but room three at Hal o Wynd was really special. Something about that room is just so right. I had three nights there but wish it was more like ten.

Host was a really lovely person to talk to and made me feel very comfortable. The room was well kitted out and just what I needed after being on the road for a few days. Felt like home from home - the bed was plush and I loved the decor! It was also super close to the port and all the shops. If I come back to Stornoway, I would not hesitate to stop here again.
