Prefect for what we needed
Nice setting, quiet, free private parking
No breakfast offering, one of the beds felt lumpy,
The room was lovely. Comfortable chairs. Bed was comfy. Lovely grounds. Loved Lily ths cat. Enjoyed our stay
Difficult to find as sat nav took us up a steep narrow lane. Might be worth providing directions with booking
Beautiful place, quiet, quaint, with lovely gardens at a ln excellent valued price. Would definitely stay again. Thankyou
Nothing
Quite a quirky building with lovely gardens. Our room was forensically clean and met all our needs.
There is nothing I can say I didn’t like.
Quirky building and decor, quite unique. Comfortable bed and beautifully designed room and dressing room. Huge bathroom. Lovely gardens surrounding the property.
Nothing
De ingerichte kamers en de ruimte van de kamers
Our room was lovely and clean also the 4 poster bed was comfy
No lounge to sit down stairs and relax and read in comfort
The management has done an excellent job in modernising an old house full of character. For the price, I was not expecting a spacious room with tea, coffee, and biscuits provided. The gated entrance provided excellent security for the car.
Staff were overly strict on departing not a minute later than the quite early checkout time.
Just stayed here and had to leave a review. Absolutely beautiful inside and out. So much charm. The whole place is well kept and spotless. Bed so comfortable and the bathroom.. wow, huge bath and shower. Wanted peace quiet and a relaxation and this is what we got. I would love to come back.
Nothing at all!
Room was spacious with two single beds and a wash hand-basin. I had exclusive use of a private bathroom I was very pleased there was a steam iron and ironing board in the corridor, allowing me to press a crumpled shirt. The decor was remarkable!
The small hand-towel had a musty smell, but the bath towel smelled fresh
The peace and quiet of the place was excellent
I loved the whole experience
Due to the property being so old, the floorboards are EXTREMELY squeaky and noisy. It is quite bothersome during the later hours of the evening, I stayed in the annex with a bathroom across the hall ... I knew this before booking BUT was told it was private which I don't believe was the case as there was another guest at the property who was also using it so I couldn't leave my shower toiletries out.
Brilliant location, clean and airy rooms.
A unique boutique hotel
There's no bar or restaurant, but a very good Italian restaurant 100 yards up the road that also served breakfast.
Parcheggio, tranquillità
Il bagno sul corridoio scomodo
Lovely room, lovely views, lovely cat
Nothing
The greeting on arrival, location, the venue and room along with the friendliness of the staff.
Nothing
THe rooms were enormous! And the garden they overlooked was lovely.
It would have been perfect had there been a light breakfast option.
Great picturesque property in a lovely setting!
Nothing at all, great value and very comfortable!
Beautiful grounds and comfortable rooms
Didn’t know there was a cat - my friend is allergic
We were delighted with our accommodation. It was great value for money. David is such a friendly, welcoming host. We loved the quirky reception! Our room was exceptionally clean and tastefully furnished. While it didn't have an ensuite, the bathroom was directly opposite the room, so it was very handy and again very clean. Our son's room had a huge ensuite. The grounds are lovely to wander in. Although they don't provide breakfast, there is a restaurant very close by which does. We will be back.
It will be my place for now I will come back again
Very nice and clean
Good location but quiet on set back road Great value for money Close to restaurant for evening meal Very helpful and amicable host While bathrooms are separate to rooms, they are super close (ours was two steps across a corridor)
Couple of cobwebs in bathroom but nothing major to not like
Good old fashioned big bedroom. Easy parking and checkout. Good recommendations from David for a lovely Italian restaurant that was almost next door. Difficult to rate as we only stayed overnight.
A cat kicking about the reception area.
Big bedroom and en-suite. Comfortable bed. Private. Set in lovely grounds. An arresting decor.
Nothing really. The shower fitting could do with upgrading.
Spacious well appointed room
We were walking Hadrian’s Wall and our stay at Hedgefield House was a special treat, unfortunately it proved below expectations. On arrival, we weren’t made to feel particularly welcome, with the greeting simply being, “Do you have a reservation?” It wasn’t the warm reception we had hoped for. The room itself was hot and stuffy, and despite leaving the windows open, it was difficult to cool down. Unfortunately, the room was directly overlooked by the car parking, so we had to trade between some fresh air or any real privacy, as the curtains and blinds had to remain open. Overall, our experience was disappointing.
Bed
It was all very dated
Accogliente, pulito, molto "english",
Camminando lungo Hadrian's Wall Path si deve allungare il percorso e fare una parte industriale.
Good surroundings, well situated

Hartelijk ontvangst door de host, David. Blijken we de honeymoonsuite geboekt te hebben... een droomkamer ??
Wellicht een koelkastje in de kamer? Verder geen
Very peaceful no disturbances..and good value..tea and coffee in room
No dislike
Decor and grounds were well kept. Room was spotless and well decorated. Very comfortable and the host was kind.
.
Lovely quiet room, secure parking for motorcyclists behind electric gates, Lovely restaurant 3 mins away that also does breakfasts .Very good price for the facilities available
Nothing
Free parking on site. Felt safe and secure. Good restaurant nearby (walking). Very quiet at night.
This is an exceptional accommodation. The entire atmosphere, the rooms, the location, David the host, the gardens, everything is just beautifully cared for. Made to feel welcome throughout the stay, not just during the arrival process. David is an excellent host and gentleman. Rooms are very spacious, clean and comfortable. Nice furniture, and the stay felt like a time travel. Everything was perfect.
Liked everything.
Lovely property, clean and comfortable.
Shower was a little temperamental - a few millimetres on the dial between burning hot and cold
Peaceful with lovely wildlife in grounds.…refreshments in room.
Really noisy floor in annexe bedroom. Felt like an old style B&B but it’s quirkiness made up for any downside.
Beautiful house and room. View of garden lovely. Really comfy bed. Car very secure behind electric gates. Owners were nice
Was tucked away and was a little difficult to find on sat nav.
Beautiful place, friendly staff, gorgeous room.
Nothing.
Very secure car parking. Helpful staff, carried my case upstairs for me.
Nice peaceful and quiet. Very private on nice grounds.
The room was wonderfully clean and well decorated it was large and very comfortable with large leather chairs blankets were provided if you didn’t want the heat of the quilt. The room overlooked impeccable gardens. It was very quiet.
If breakfast had been provided although it was made clear there was no food on booking and the restaurant next door is accessible for this.
Surroundings, cleanliness. Lovely rooms, lovely hotel
Lovely house, love sized room, lovely gardens, and clean
Perfect stay
I loved how quiet it was here. The grounds of the house are beautiful. Our room was lovely, a very good size, with a freestanding bath and walk in shower. The four poster bed was a bonus. David showed us up to our room, he was very friendly. We absolutely loved Lily the cat, definitely a highlight of our stay.

Nice location.
Spacious and noise free
i never knew breakfast was an option. we went to michaelangelos for breakfast and found it very expensive
Friendly staff and very clean rooms ideal location for a wedding we were attending at Michelangelo’s next door
Helpful owner. Spotlessly clean. Quirky decor. Stunning gardens.
It would be nice to have breakfast available here.

Exquisitely furnished rooms spotlessly clean and comfortable.Beautiful gardens and an interesting history.Thank you!
Great location. Lovely host. Beautiful room with ensuite. Great parking. Brilliant restaurant practically next door.
The only thing we didn't like was the time it took for the hot water to come through.
Location great and easy to find. Was great sleep.
The property was quirky and very comfortable, in the middle of exceptional grounds, featuring bluebells, wild garlic, amazing fungi and deer! David was very kind, allowing us to check in early. We really liked Fed & Watered Cafe for breakfast (less than 10 minutes walk away), Elvaston Cafe, and Ye Olde Cross community pub, Ryton (5 minutes drive, or bus ride).

Ich war eine Nacht dort es war sehr sauber und der Besitzer sehr freundlich
Séjour de rêve :logement, accueil exceptionnel, cadre original . À recommander !
Rien , tout était parfait
Location very good. Surrounded by lovely garden and very quiet. Beds good plenty of tea &coffee & milk. A quirkier hotel with marvellous art works.
Towels could do with being replaced
There was parking on site. Near a train station, 20 minute walk. 10 minute drive to metro centre. Friendly staff - and Lily the cat was also wonderful. Tea and coffee making facilities were good, with the option of fresh milk if preferred and biscuits were a nice touch. Would also be good if sweeteners were also available alongside the sugar. Room was very spacious, and also the bathroom. Comfortable bed. Dressing table and wardrobe also in the room. Access to the house was easy.
Shower not great - the head kept falling down and the pressure dropped when the water temperature got turned down. It took a while for water to heat up. Hairs in drawers - we don’t tend to use them but something we noticed. No privacy in the bathroom, our window was facing directly out to the front so had the curtains shut. Room very hot, we turned the valves on radiators off and opened windows but still didn’t fully cool down. Requested to check in at 14:00 and this got accepted, we arrived to the property at 14:30 due to traffic and wasn’t able to check in. Didn’t really bother us in the end because we went for a stroll around the area. Lots of extension leads plugged into extension leads which is a safely hazed. No plugs at side of bed to charge phone but wasn’t the end of the world. We could hear other people quite loudly in their rooms which disturbed sleep.
It was tucked away in a nice quiet area, the house was set in a lovely background with parking and very well kept, David was a lovely host, told us what’s available in the area, the room and bathroom was clean and tidy, ideal location away from a noisy city centre, there is an Italian 5 minutes up the road and a small quaint little pub 10 minute walk away, which were very friendly, would definitely stay here again.
Quite with really comfortable beds modern bathroom
Beautiful setting
It was an olde worlde property with quirky retro decor- room and bathroom was spacious . Set in lovely grounds. Tea and coffee provided.
I was travelling with my son so four posted was an issue. No bar or restaurant but aware before travel
Lovely place to stay
A very good location and comfortable rooms. David a very good host and 2 very good Italian Restaurants close by. Bus service very good to get to Metrocentre and City Centre ,10 , 10a.and 10b.
Ligging bij de Hadrian Wall
very quiet and picturesque.
Mattress a little thin for us.
Lovely spacious room and bathroom
Great host, phenomenal room and nice location after a long ferry to Newcastle on our way to NC500!
Beautiful.. can't fault anything... Comfy bed. Amazing room
I've stayed here before and it was so peaceful and quiet which is what i always look for. There's always a warm welcome from the owner and so that's really good. 😊
Nothing!
It’s character.
There was nothing to dislike about the property.
Beautiful place, great location
Nothing
Beautiful bathroom and bed was comfortable. Spotlessly clean. Tea & coffee making facilities were appreciated as there was no breakfast available at the hotel. However, there was an excellent restaurant ( Michaelangelos) a 3 min walk away. Also, there was a Starbucks just 8 mins away in the car.
Personally, I'm not keen on the lace-draped four-poster bed. I think it would be perfect without the drapes. Everything else was great.
Lovely, quirky house.
Three different wallpapers in the room was a little off-putting.
Large clean comfortable bedroom Large nice private bathroom, but not ensuite
Couldn't adjust heating and it was cold when we got there and in the morning, but on full during the evening
Lovely boutique and quirky hotel. Warm welcome from host, David
No food available, but I’m too fat anyway, so win/win

Lovely house, friendly host. Quiet location.
Stayed at Hedgefield House numerous times when working in Gateshead. My go to place 😀

David is a warm and welcoming host who was laid back especially when booking.com messed up my payment leaving me potentially without accommodation after a seven hour drive north. I appreciated the late check out which helped with specifics on my stay.
Towels quite smelled musty both nights and unfortunately there was a ladybird infestation in the bathroom but this didn’t cause too many problems. In stark contrast to the host, the cleaner was well mardy and refused me waiting in the hallway where I wanted to make important calls.
