Location ideal staff generally ok hotel need updating believe has new owners so understand this will be addressed. Breakfast was good. Parking good.
Just unkept but I’m assured new owners will sort. Have booked for next year.
Friendly staff and good food
Perfect place for a work over night stay.
No one at reception in the morning when checking out.
Beautiful building. Food is excellent. Staff are helpful. Would recommend.
It is in need of refurbishment but that is currently being done. I would definatley stay again when it is done.
Stayed here while doing the Great North Run. Location was excellent, just 10 minutes by car to Heworth metro station. Early breakfast with extra grab bags provided for runners. Staff were all very helpful.
Amazing. Wishinh the new owners the best of luck
The staff went above & beyond to bring a mattress & bedding for us due to our kids refusing to sleep in a double bed together!!
The bathroom door didn't close properly, though the staff did say they had only just taken over & it felt like they were looking to improve things. It certainly wasn't an issue & was the only thing to say we didn't like!
Beds and pillows were amazing , slept well .
It was a great location for us and it looks lovely from the outside. Considering the cost given it was GNR weekend we thought the price was reasonable
The bedroom smelt of urine, was very dusty and there was lots of cobwebs. The mattress was in need of changing, laying close to the edge rolled you onto the floor! We ate in the restaurant and there want enough staff, we waited a long time to get served and it took the food a while to come. The food was nice when it arrived, apart from we ordered garlic bread and what came was a slice of lightly toasted bread with pesto, garlic granules and a smattering of cheese, dumped on a plate the cost of this was £7:95. I commented on the cost when paying and was told, oh that’s because of the cheese!
Room comfortable and spacious but very difficult getting cases up the stairs to the room if staying for any length of time
Had a bath in the bathroom but no bath mat to stop slipping and no hand rail ,much prefer a walk in shower
Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Black mould in the bathroom
I liked the location, staff were so nice and welcoming. I liked how cosy it make is feel. There were a wedding on and we sat outside and had our drinks listening to the wedding band. The breakfast was in with the price, and WOW it did not dissapoint. Great cerial choice, cheeses, toast, yoghurts, fresh fruit and coffee and tea selection. The cooked breakfast was great. Top quality sausage and streaky bacon. The mushrooms were amazing. The bed was so comfy and all the channels on the TV worked. The shower was fantastic along with the bathroom facilities.
Fijne kamer
The location, the food and the whole stay was really good.
We didn't have any complaints
Be up shortly will definitely stop there again very professional and friendly staff
A lovely quiet comfy place to relax. Staff were helpful and friendly
Place needs some TLC and I 7nderstand it's changing owners who are going to refurbish the place so that will be good
A good location close to Angel of the North. City center not to far. Literally just off the A1.. quiet location. Great staff, bar, and restaurant.
Older location, a bit dated.
The view was fantastic. Angel of the North could be seen directly out of our bedroom window.
The room looked very worn and the shower head was too heavy and loose for its bracket and the bathroom was really dark and uninviting.
They could have had Architrave around the door frame . And filled the dents in the walls in
Nice food lovely staff
but didn't appreciate getting woke up constantly floorboards creaky woke up by loud customers throughout the whole night very unhappy by this really unlikely to revisit unless sort out troubles
Not much but the location was OK
I was under the impression the 2 night stay included breakfast but it did not. The room allocated was was not suitable as I would have to climb many stairs (I'm disabled ) they found me a room in the stables and charged me £50 for the change The room had very poor WiFi signal and I had to go outside to make and receive calls. This meant my family couldn't reach me for a couple of days unless the phone was outside. Overall I think booking . Com did a bad job and the Hotel kept telling me I should've booked directly as the price would have been cheaper and would have included breakfast. Booking.com has lost me as a customer and the hotel will never be used by me or my family again.
Very helpful staff and great breakfast
Did request the 2 rooms booked to be next to each other because of my Mother in-laws health but we were at opposite ends of the hotel which was a little bit concerning
Great location, friendly staff.
Staff, girls where amazing, fish and chips amazing
Room, bathroom,
Brilliant
Tighten the toilet seat but not a problem
Nice big room
Staff were lovely. Location was ideal for a short drive to visit beamish.
We asked to change rooms to a room with a view original room was looking out onto the hotel. The second room we changed to was a view of the car park entrance and the kitchen fan was located directly outside our window. 7am every morning the noise from the fan woke us up and the bedroom floor vibrated.
Clean and friendly
Nothing
Location friendly staff . Very clean
Nothing to complain about to be honest
Went for afternoon tea for 2 ladies 80th birthday celebrations, when we arrived we had a chipped cup, pot of tea very weak with 1 tea bag in pot for 2 people, 7 finger sandwiches for 2 people, hard sausage roll, 2 cheese scones with jam and cream (meant for fruit scones) cakes soggy as if defrosted and left, we had rang up and asked for 2 ladies to have only ham sandwiches, which was eventually brought out, mentioned it all to waiting staff who made more tea and added a tea bag and brought out fruit scones and ham sandwiches, we were disappointed with food as we were celebrating birthdays,
Nice location(you can see the Angel of the North from the car park), clean room, comfortable bed. There's a bar and restaurant downstairs, and the food was very tasty.
There were only a few plugs in the room. Not a big issue as you can unplug the kettle to charge your phone, just an idea to have a couple more in the room.
Location was good
The room was uninhabitable due to very very strong smell of rancid cooking oil coming from the kitchen into our bedroom
My room was a family room. It was brilliant, comfortable, and spacious, perfect for a little one . Staff were friendly and really chatty. Food was outstanding and great value for money I enjoyed my stay, and when I re visit The North I will look at booking with The Angel again.
Location Friendly Very accommodating Clean
Lovely place, very friendly staff, great location and view of the angel
The bed was really uncomfortable, and it was really hot in our room as the radiator was stuck on during a heatwave (broken valve) and they couldn’t provide any fans. Bit of a shame as it’s a lovely spot otherwise.
The stable block rooms were much bigger and airier than the ones we were originally given. They were also much more accessible than the ones upstairs. The shower was excellent and roomy. The biscuits were much appreciated and the staff were all really friendly and helpful.
There was no toilet roll holder in the bathroom, quite inconvenient to have the toilet rolls standing on top of the cistern. Also, there was no shelf in the shower for sponge, soap and shampoo. It would be really helpful to have a grab rail in the shower to steady oneself, as the shower floor can become slippery whilst in use. There was no toilet brush. There was nowhere to place toothbrush, soap, etc as the washbasin was quite small. The mattress was not particularly comfortable but after a late night 18th party it was sufficient. I was quite cold overnight.
For us, visiting family - the location was everything, I liked free parking and free WiFi.
There was an event in the night we stopped, it was quite noisy, as it was hot we needed the window open, Air con or at least a fan in the room would be nice. The floor boards on the landing are very squeaky and doors in adjacent rooms slam loudly.
Contractor hotel, cheap and cheerful.
It was ok for the money.
Location was easy. Staff excellent.
A little noisy.
Whilst it is probably easier to get here by car from central newcastle there is also a bus to get to the hotel. It is deceptively large with lots of different large reception rooms suitable for different gatherings. The atmosphere is perfect for a those that love a quiet break, with country walks right next to the hotel and the angel of the north itself a 5 minute walk away. The two courtyards were really beautiful, especially the roses and bamboo and gardening style. The rooms were immaculately clean and the shower rooms were exceptionally striking with a really good hot shower. I liked the courtyards because you could smoke out there and as long as you took one of the many little ash buckets supplied by the door and didn't make a mess, the hotel weren't giving you a hard time. (Which is the number one reason why I won't stay in a swathe of hotels when they don't make provisions for me like that, but this one was much more reasonable.) The breakfasts were lovely. The staff were all super nice and helpful and keeping a place like this going must be a lot of work. I would go there again. I thought the best bit was that you could have several separate spaces and nooks and crannies for various meetings. I think it's an ideal place for a seminar. Lovely hotel, great use of a bautiful piece of architecture.
Stayed before. Great hospitality. This time it was a short stop over.
Lovely room , friendly staff , clean and tidy, food was delicious
Nothing
Die Lage ist perfekt, gut zu erreichen, wirklich nahe am Angel of the North. Zimmer gut und ausreichend groß. Anlage und Parkplatz wirkten einladend.
Beim Check-in erstmal lange warten müssen, was vermeidbar schien. Frühstück nicht am Abend zum Buchen, sondern anscheinend a la carte am Morgen. Absolutes No-Go: Abfrage einer bisher nicht benutzten 2. Kreditkarte (warum auch immer).
Everything.
nothing.
It’s convenient for getting into Newcastle on the bus route and just off the A1 right by the Angel statue
Staff were pleasant
Accessibility is limited - some rather steep steps to get to some of the rooms. As for the room I was in (I requested on arrival a ground floor room and was initally suggested to me that I 'upgrade'! This was swiftly queried and no additional cost was charged. The room I was in (ground floor) was in the stable blook, good size, however very limited with plug points - the lighting is poor - two small lamps and an overhead. The lamps gave out very little in the way of lumens! I had been travelling for work, however the wi-fi was non existent unless I was in the bar/dining area and there was no mobile signal at all.
Friendly and helpful staff. Large car park.
Easy access and good sized room with comfy bed. Good, sensibly priced food and drink. Welcoming staff.
Not a didnt like but if you struggle with stairs request a ground floor room when you book.
Convenient location. Comfortable room. Great price.
Nothing.
The hotel is a lovely little place. Room Was spotless and very comfy had a great sleep after standing at a concert in the rain. The lady on reception was so friendly also.
Room was a little dated. They forgot to put up the extra bed in the family room for us
View of the angel or the north sat in gardens and close to Beamish musuem. Food was really nice also
No one around this morning when checking out, wanted get breakfast before leaving but no one was around
Location was the purpose for the booking
I'd be disappointed if that was my Bridal suite room. Crammed with very dated wardrobes that didn't blend with the decor, felt dumped in The whole building and surrounding could do with TLC
Interesting old building in good situation.
Good location
One furniture and bathroom tiles falling spart
The location.
The room no (10) was above an extracted fan from the kitchen!! Room was small and the fumes from the fan within the room!! Not recommend at all.
Friendliness of staff, good breakfast & great location
Room was cold.
Staff were so friendly and helpful. Food was fantastic.
Everything was good
Fantastic location and staff
The rooms are a little tired and in need of a refurb
Excellent place. Excellent stafff. Fully recommend thr place to anyone
Lovely and clean good price
I had a shower and felt like it was going to fall through
Great location and lovely staff
Close proximity to the angel of the north. Good walking distance to local amenities.
The door lock didn't feel that secure to my room. The hoover was left at the top of the corridor all the time which could have been a trip hazard.
Basically everything the location the staff friendly and polite food was well prepared
People slamming door in the middle of the night
For the price it was beyond our expectations, staff great and breakfast was also nice. Courtyard is a sun heaven and was nice to relax with a very nice cold beer.
Room was lovely, staff friendly
Booking through booking .com meant had to pay for meals etc , will book direct with hotel next time
Location ideal, being adjacent to A1, though a little awkward to navigate the last few hundred yards off of it into the hotel's grounds.
Walking about upstairs was noisy due to movement in the floorboards.
Bed very comfortable
Need a call button at reception to raise domeone / walls at an angle easy to hit strain on neck
Location
Lack of plug sockets in room
Location
Rooms a little cold as radiator not working properly
Very friendly staff
The shower was useless no power just drip drip.
Location and friendly staff. Food was good but over salty.
Noisy doors in corridor outside room/Room 3. Hard to get tv remote to work. Very small room. Shower cubicle doors broken.
Beautiful, cosy, good food and wonderful staff
Great location. Loads of parking
Small bathroom if being honest
Me and my husband were at a friend's 60th birthday party at the Angel Friday 20th March which was absolutely brilliant. The room was very clean and arranged so good. The staff were 2nd to none and really happy joining in dancing. Buffet was delicious and the music was fab. We decided to stay the night. We were in room 24 which is an outside room at the stable block. It was immaculate, warm and cozy. Bed was very comfortable with gleaming linen. Plenty tea, coffee and biscuits. Blackout curtains fab which is good for the time of year. Breakfast was perfect and the breakfast staff also very lovely and friendly. Overall a lovely night and a relaxing stay over. Well done to the Angel View hotel and brilliant staff : )
Nice location
Room was very small and dated. Bed was uncomfortable
The location, friendly staff, cosy room and the food!
Difficulty getting in late at night though the night porter was amazing. They could do with an intercom on the door or giving customers a key for the outside door
Clean, tidy friendly staff and very easy to get to, straight in off the A1.
Nothing, I couldn't fault it.
Breakfast staff very welcoming
Hotel tired in appearance. long wait to book in.
It was clean and the bed was comfortable.
Paper thin walls. Could hear a two way phone call that someone in the next room was having. Had paid for 2 nights but stayed for 1. Stopped serving food on Sunday at 4:30pm, check in wasn’t until 2 and if you get there any later you’re damned if you prefer an evening meal like myself because you can’t get any food. Had to drive to the nearest garage to get food for the night. The Monday night I waited over an hour for my meal when it was quiet and about 4/5 tables yo wait on, felt there was no need for my food to have taken so long. When mentioned this to staff they went to the kitchen and all of a sudden the food was ready? Had kids running up and down the corridor and shouting on until bout 10pm as there had been a function on and their parents were too drunk to tell them to stop and when mentioned to the staff their response was “ah yes it is half term”. Closest plug socket facility from the bed was at the desk at the other end of the room and only 2 to use. Wasted £80 on a bed that I didn’t stay in for the second night because I could hear the football commentary from the person next doors room.
Attractive stone buildings. Easy parking. Friendly staff. Nice quiet room. Good atmosphere in bar/restaurant. Good breakfast. Good value. Could actually walk to Angel of the North sculpture across fields then via pedestrian crossing on main road,
Room was quite chilly on arrival, but ok when I turned radiator up. No heat in bathroom - radiator was cold and no adjustment possible, as no valve on radiator - didn't report this to staff, as it wasn't really a problem.
Friendly staff Beautiful chicken parmo Good guiness
.
Couldn’t fault in any way very welcoming and friendly staff
Everyone was absolutely fantastic all staff that was on duty that night were amazing nothing was too much trouble
A friendly hotel with a handy location for Newcastle, Durham and the coast. Lovely buffet provided for the party we attended.
Traffic noise from the nearby A1.
Breakfast staff were very friendly
Really bumpy car park
The room was nice but small.
There was no plug socket near the mirror for my hairdryer. There was no telephone in the room in case any problems occurred.
Staff and location. Radiator was not working but staff provided space heater which did the job.
Rooms extremely tired and dated.
Great staff and location
Could do with room updating and general maintenance/upkeep required in room.
Great location
Needs rooms updating
Everything.
Nothing
Room had bad odour Corridor carpets are dirty Bath had missing tiles on surround
Loved the views
We were upstairs so quite steep steps
