Location. Garden.
Bedroom was dark. Window was blown and misted.
Location, staff, overall lovely for a wedding
Our bedroom, oak, very poor location, very noisy outside, not happy at all, spoke to manager
Beautiful cosy hotel perfect for a wedding or any other type of get together. Excellent service at hreakfast with good produce served.
Although we didn't have an exceptional view it would have been nice to be able to see at least some of the lovely grounds outside. However the only negative I would make is that the window was so dirty we couldn't see out.
Stayed a few times to meet up with friends for birthdays and nights out, perfect location

The old building, the grounds, close to a lovely park to walk in. Very friendly and helpful staff.
There was no bath robe in the room. The whole hot water tap on the hand basin twists to the left to turn it off completely.. it needs to be looked at.
Lovely place
Loved it
Friendly staff and really clean
Bathroom was awkward; damaged bath, no shower, taps too close to tge wailll to turn easily. Bed not very comfortable. Breakfast slow. Had to ask for enough cuos and glasses.
The room was modern and clean
The walls were thin and could hear the tv in the next room, kept me awake
Nice historic building not grandiose but homely. Lovely grounds (no disabled access to grounds though) Staff very helpful and pleasant Decor in public rooms very nice. Restaurant very good quality food but limited menu. Good Parking
No Restaurant service after 5 pm on Sundays. Closed bar early despite being told bar would be open until 10:30. (Closed at 10:10) Choice of cocktails limited by lack of ingredients. No WiFi in my room (Holly) Room decor tired and needs a refurb. Room in an annex so if it rains expect to get wet if you want dinner. A pleasant stay over 8 nights. Good relaxing atmosphere. Overall probably better to stay somewhere else but come here for dinner (except Sundays)
Exceeded expectations. Great hotel. Food surprisingly excellent. Wonderful staff
My room was at the top of the hotel and as the weather was hot, my room was very warm. Also check prior to arrival which rooms have showers as mine only had a bath, which I only realised once I was there
Lovely location and helpful staff
No snacks available
The Staffs were nice and the bathroom have good space and Room also.
That I paid extra 25 pounds for two hours early check in considering arriving with morning flight into Newcastle. They also have no air-conditioning in room.
Excellent service, great food and comfortable clean rooms. An excellent location, a short drive from Newcastle.
Very nice breakfast and friendly staff
Unclear what the evening meal arrangements were.
Nice building, well kept and lovely garden.
No air conditioning in the bedrooms.
Location and comfort was very good. Staff very polite and efficient.
Staff were very helpful and respectful. Food was superb and served in a very welcoming a conservatory
Some of the outdoor furniture was past its best, looked dated and in need of repair or painted.
The breakfast
The room was far too hot. As they are the old type of sash window, which were painted shut! I asked for a fan, which I did receive, but it was still very hot. We'd already moved rooms, as the TV in the first room didn't work. Which the girl behind the reception desk was aware of. So why wasn't this fixed before letting the room again. The rooms themselves are a little tired. But I appreciate that the upkeep on this type of property must be huge. The first evening we ate in their restaurant, I had a burger, which was mediocre, husband had a garden pie, which seemed to consist of peas and carrots. Not great value for money. The best thing was the breakfast. I had a fully cooked breakfast the first morning, and eggs benidict for the next two mornings, these were all very well cooked.
Lovely relaxing hotel with lots of old world charm but well maintained. Friendly staff and I loved the music (both a live singer on arrival, then background music) playing downstairs, added atmosphere but wasn’t at all noisy.
My only slight gripe is only a blind, no curtains in my room. In the summer mo the that definitely makes for an early bright wake up.
A brilliant great value hotel with good food, genuine friendly staff and excellent location. Priced as a budget hotel, but offers so much more.
We both loved this place.
Heerlijk gegeten.
Nice & comfortable place to stay with my family we enjoyed the breakfast in scenic views
Breakfast was good. The staff were attentive.
The shower was over a bath but had no screen or curtain, so water went everywhere.
The receptionisf that met on us was very helpful The manager was very efficient and very kind at managing a unexpected housekeeping communication error. Love the layput comfortable stay facilities and location Ease of find and well signed
Parking . Nice out door space to sit in, great staff , breakfast amazing
Nothing
Nice big room and spacious bathroom. Quiet location. Evening meal and cooked breakfast were both very good.
Nothing
Lovely large room, good private location and safe parking, friendly staff. Comfortable bed.
Very very noisy and long running fan in bathroom, 20 minutes after turning off light it was still going. Mirrors too far away or gloomy to apply make up. Very tatty roman blinds. Buffet part of breakfast very poor.
The young lady on Reception and in the restaurant and she was everywhere-basically was left to run the place-however she was so polite and friendly-thank u..u made the stay enjoyable.
There was quite a bit of movement upstairs late at nite and unfortunately there were no cocktails on offer plus some other items on the menu.
Lovely old building and convenient to where I was working
Rooms are a bit dated and shabby
the garden setting
staff accusing of us not paying and breakfast
Friendly staff, good location, massive bathroom, excellent value for money, good choice at breakfast.
Chestnut room floor slanted considerably which meant bed not level and very noticeable when trying to sleep. Extremely noisy guest arrival at 11.30 and again at 12.30 including loud conversation by night porter.
Tolles Zimmer, riesiges Tolles Bad, sauber, praktisch. Ruhig gelegen und doch gut zum Essen gehen oder für die City. Mega Frühstück.
Charming hotel in a secluded area close to Saltwell Park. Good Breakfast Excellent value for money
In our room we were at the back of the hotel in a standard double near the extractor fans however these went off before 10 pm.
Pretty much everything. Great hotel.
No food available outwith short specific times, I was working a schedule that did not match the hotels. 0950, breakfast was done and dusted for example.
Nostalgia as frequented the place many years ago.
Sound carried from room to room. Beds needed updating
Location.
Cleanliness, rooms carried sound, noisy neighbours. Breakfast selection was fewer than previous trip. Few moths in the room. Looked and felt scruffy.
It was comfortable lovely grounds and generally a relaxing experience.

Lovely spacious apartment, very light and airy. Nice views over the garden and surrounding area. Comfortable bed. Lots of storage and hanging space. Well equipped kitchen, comfy sofa. Good breakfast. Free parking on site. Beautiful grounds. Great location for events at the Glasshouse.
No door on the en-suite in the twin room, which could be a problem if more than two people in the flat. Hot water is slightly temperamental in the bath (the shower is electric in the other bathroom so no problem with that).
Beautiful interiors, gorgeous spacious and spotless apartment. Lovely warm welcome, great friendly & helpful staff. Delicious food 😋

I wasn't able to check in as there was no answer. I called 19 times. Had to find alternative accommodation.
Characterful accommodation, large bedroom and bathroom, good parking, friendly staff, convenient location and public transport, excellent value for money.
Beautiful setting , my room was large and beautiful
Nothing
We had a lovely stay The apartment was very roomy We had everything we wanted The staff were wonderful A wonderful breakfast Highly recommend Thank you for everything . Angela and brothers
Lovely garden & good breakfast choices. Comfortable king size bed.
Wardrobe was locked shut. Bathroom needs updating.
The food was really good and plenty of it. We had breakfast
When we got there we were a bit disappointed with our room. It was in the annexe facing a wall and the car park. The window looked straight at the wall. We went to put our clothes away and found a pair of knickers in the drawer. We told the girl on reception who found it hilarious and so did the other staff. To be fair they offered to reclean the room, but, it was clean apart from that. Beds were very hard and room needed updating really. We could hear the people upstairs walking about as the floor squeaked terrible. It kept me awake one night as they seemed to be walking about most of the night. Location was good. Inside the main building was nice, you could sit on the terrace.
Was a very basic hotel but exactly what we needed for the trip we were taking. Staff were friendly and helpful and room comfortable and clean.
Very basic and needed a little love and modernisation.
Lovely hotel still a little more decoration to go but didn't spoil a thing
A good location. Lovely grounds. Quite position
Two rooms were booked. We should have been told that one of the rooms was up a very narrow flight of stairs in the roof space. No restaurant facilities on arrival, after a six hour drive we had to go out for a meal. Improvements in the decoration were being made but, in the breakfast room why paint all the windows so they can never be opened. Very poor workmanship.
Beautiful grounds and friendly staff
It would have been nice to have some fresh milk etc when we arrived
Great place to stay if visiting Newcastle and the surrounding areas
The food was absolutely amazing and the staff were very friendly.
The size of the hotel, the location/ grounds. The parking was a bonus!
The blinds in the room didn't quite reach the bottom of the window. The sink plug was grimy
Lovely grounds paid extra for a really nice room staff all super helpful
A little bit tired in places
Friendly staff and great value
Nothing
room was very warm
The food was really good. The room was spacious with a large tub. The grounds were pleasant for a short walk. Good weather obviously helped. The staff were friendly and attentive.
The room was a little dated but I understand there is a renovation underway, and it was still clean and comfortable. It was very quiet at the time we stayed. Hopefully it will start to get busier as the new owners make their mark.
Spacious room, very clean and friendly staff
Everything was amazing
The charm, parking and breakfast
Shower head broken
Really nice, been many time but never stayed. Could do with a paint in some places, and new carpets
As above
Easy check in and parking. Nice old building, warm room and spacious. 10m taxi into gateshead. Room was very clean and bed comfy. Hotel is being refurbished and dining room already looking nice. Will return and look forward to seeing the full refurbishment
Peaceful location yet convenient for attractions and shopping. Lovely gardens. The outstanding feature of the stay was the food which is really excellent, both for dinner and breakfast. Renovations were underway, so difficult to get overall impression, but it looks like it’ll be welcoming. Spacious room, lovely comfortable armchair.
It was a good property, one or two areas needed a little sprucing up, but that work appears to be underway and not a major complaint. Pillows not the best is my only real let down.
Superb hotel in every respect. Classic style. Am already planning my next stay there.
Beautiful location and large comfortable rooms. It was undergoing a refurbishment but the staff were great We really enjoyed the evening meal and breakfast. Lovely grounds perfect for a stay in Gateshead or for Newcastle. We were there for a wake and it is close to the churches abd crem.
The shower was a bit erratic .
Great and accommodating
Really nice location
Bed was very uncomfortable I’m a big chap every time turned over metal bed frame made a nice Also when I booked this room it came with breakfast the guy on reception said breakfast was extra I Chechen my booking it clearly states breakfast with room sadly won’t be staying again
Staff friendly and helpful
Decorating work underway about which we were not warned. Lounge bar not open. Threadbare carpets. Have stayed here before and last year the hotel looked tired but now has declined to be downright ropey.
Spotlessly clean. Quiet large room.
Staff were friendly
It was undergoing major decorations
Staff are polite and smiling. Comfortable room and bed, clean, and a good restaurant with nice, relaxing music. Free car parking. Only concern with the free wifi, poor connection.
WiFi
Great value for money. I booked the apartment and it didn’t disappoint. Only downside was bar and other rooms getting renovated but not a bad point as these things happen. I will definitely book this place again.
There was gluten-free bread which is important as I have coeliac disease. One day I was the only person having breakfast but they provided everything I needed, and had listened to feedback from my last stay! Atmosphere friendly and caring, and polite attentive staff. External ly the grounds were well kept and tidy as always.
My room was lovely and warm but perhaps a bit too warm when I was not using the room. Don’t want you to waste expensive energy!
Friendly staff, cozy room
Kitchen extractor very near the window, smell of cooking and noise in room
Nice room. Nice building
Couldn't turn bathroom heater off made room very warm
