Lovely old building
Nothing
Just beautiful and the staff are amazing
Nothing
Upon arrival the woman on the desk was warm and welcoming and explained everything. The room I booked was the family room, which had clearly been modernised recently; the decor was lovely and complimented the hotel and the bathroom was stunning
Great location. Comfortable room. Clean. Friendly helpful staff.
Room 110 very squeaky floor boards and very very warm.
Beautiful building & decor. Nice spacious dining room and cosy seating in the bar area. Buffet breakfast always hot with reasonable choices.
Everything was actually to our liking. Personally I had a small issue with the television as there was what seemed to be an annoying AI voice announcing every touch on the remote.
Very beautiful and peaceful surroundings.
Nothing
I liked seeing that the bar staff and hotel staff all worked like a machine there was genuine mentorship from some of the staff which was good to see, there are staff doing multiple roles here and they do it professionally. good food and the people care. nice stay for a couple of days off, we had a dog with us and everyone was very accommodating .
the only thing I would say is, replace the chairs in the rooms with just something more basic, they were really uncomfortable, zero other problems will come again.
Restaurant team was friendly and helpful. The location was amazing and room was modern.
No AC, and thats understandable, but when you open the windows (the room facing indoor to another side of the building), there is not much of an air. If the management could open up the main window a bit more wider might help.
Everything good
Water in the pool is little bit cold
The staff were very welcoming and the decor and rooms were superb with strong colours and tasteful furnishings. We also d joyed the spa facilities. Would highly recommend.
Our room was close to the lift so a little noisy at times.
Loved the location, the style, the very comfy bed, the cleanliness, the breakfast and the spa. Most of the staff were brilliant too.
One member of staff was a little unfriendly, very 'distant', as though we were an inconvenience. The booking system around bringing our dog: the hotel is advertised as being dog friendly, but when we made our booking we were only told that it would 'probably' be alright for her to stay with us, so that was a bit of a worry. Thankfully when we arrived we were told that she could stay, but that there would be a charge of £15:00. We don't mind that there is a fee, but the hotel should be more upfront about it so that the price is known beforehand.
Excellent location and interesting area to visit
A rattle in the window
Excellent service across the board, nothing was too much trouble.
The window opened onto an internal space and therefore the room was a little airless and stuffy.
We liked the style of the hotel, we liked the grounds and the bed was really comfy. The pool was lovely with the spa area.
The breakfast was warm and a little stale, like it had been left warming for ages which is exactly what it was because it was in hot plates. There were some really dirty bits in our room which was surprising. The staff were not overly friendly. We were woke up several times by someone shouting at the front in the middle of the night.
Good location. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Nothing really.
We had a wonderful 24-hour stay for a family celebration. The hotel staff are amazing and went above and beyond to make this special. Exceptional food. Polite, friendly staff. Comfortable rooms. Will always return to this gem
Lovely property. Large comfortable room.
Attention to detail was lacking. Gutter outside our room needed cleaning. During the night we had our own waterfall that kept us awake. Breakfast was a bit chaotic. Possibly the smallest steam room in the country in the spa.
A Traditional hotel that has history Tasteful updated with great staff and a lovely restaurant With the spa and pool being a bonus
Unfortunately the lift was broken for a couple of days but it didn’t detract from a wonderful stay during our wedding anniversary
The room was great, albeit a little small, and I believe was charged at a fair price.
Car parking is a nightmare, the steep walk up from the lower car park levels is a challenge especially if you are carrying bags, and prices for average quality bar food, and drinks, are typical lake district extortion.
Lovely location
Was supposed to be a special occasion however hotel did nothing to accommodate and very loud disturbance right outside our room even after 11pm due to party guests literally outside our window. Also no AC in our room which made things a lot worse. We wasn’t made aware of a function prior to our visit which would have been courteous of the hotel but felt like they didn’t bother. Looks good but service not up to standard in our opinion
Everything was as I expected
Service at dinner and the bar was slow
Well presented and friendly staff
Nothing
Great venue and quality
Room was very hot, fan provided by weather was to blame
A dignified Victorian mansion in a pleasant garden setting with views of Morecambe Bay. Very clean, comfortably furnished. The restaurant is excellent.
There is not enough parking space for all the clients.
The hotel is an impressive looking big house with beautiful surroundings, nice bar and seating areas, close to the station and some nice restaurants and shops. Super quiet. Nice although small swimming pool with a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Staff were all really lovely and helpful especially the spa staff.
Headache-inducing swirly carpets everywhere, breakfast was quite basic and service at breakfast was very slow. For example they had only a choice of basic sliced brown or white bread. I would have liked to see some nuts, seeds etc. and some plant based yogurts etc. There was a motion sensor for the bathroom light which was very bright so every time I got up in the night it woke us both up! Also, when in the shower the light would go off periodically, meaning you would need to push the door open to reactivate the sensor.
Beautiful property couldn’t ask for anything better
Wonderful welcoming staff and lovely room. Nice garden area. Good food.
Disappointing to be charged extra for breakfast basics such as omelette.
I just loved the beautiful setting and although there was a misunderstanding about being doggie friendly the hotel manger made a very kind offer and also an upgrade on our next stay which I hope will be in the not too distant future
We could have had a nicer view.
Great location/ staff / food
Room was very hot!
Beautifully decorated throughout. Excellent breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff.
More comfortable sofa type seating in bar area. A bit sterile. One barman was very scruffy in old jeans and dirty trainers.
Staff were fantastic. Plenty of space to relax, inside and out. Really good location.
The room was stunning!
No complaints. We had the perfect babymoon.
Rooms were lovely , decor is really nice. Rooms need a mini fridge esp the penthouse if you’re paying extra.
Food was average, dinner portions not that big, no mini fridge. Pool area needs to be re done
Pretty hotel with a lovely pool and very nice staff
Really amazing will definately recommend to family and friend and stay again cant wait to come back again
Very comfy bed
Atmosphere at night very bland
Brilliant service good food reasonable prices
The room size was great. The food was delicious, all 3 courses. The staff were all very professional and friendly. The evening bar staff were great and make wonderful cocktails.
Pool was smaller than expected, Steam room was very small
Staff excellent. Accommodation superb. At first I thought we were put into the wrong room so amazing was the room we've stayed in. Very clean and spacious. Food excellent.
I wouldn't say I didn't like something. It's more like a tiny design details. Shower needs a proper door in the room we were staying in. The water was everywhere after we finished. The TV - I would put the big one in the upstairs area and the smaller one where the couch bed is. It was slightly too hot for me with only one fan but I know people who would love the attic room temperature without the fan. It didn't bother me. I have really enjoyed the stay.
Classy
One lift
Beautiful grounds and very clean
Internal facing room was so small we could hardly move, no access to outside air, stifling hot with no aircon
Quiet location, clean, comfortable
Nothing, all good
A beautiful stay. Everything is well kept and maintained. Bedrooms were absolutely spotless. The lady on reception was incredibly friendly and welcoming, a beautiful soul inside and out. Rooms were really comfortable, fresh and clean. Felt like home away from home. I slept really well!
We managed to snag a spot to park, but could see there were people struggling to find somewhere in the carpark as it was quite busy. There are places to park on the quiet road directly outside the hotel though!
Spa, room, quietness, staff lovely
No veggie option but good overall
Calm and great location.
Room was too warm despite weather having cooled down over the last few days. No air conditioning and impossible to keep windows wide open.
A beautiful hotel, clean, and in a great location.
The internal rooms we stayed in were extremely warm and bordering on uncomfortable.
Staff were exceptionally friendly, the hotel was clean, well maintained and picturesque. It was a hot few days and the rooms only had a fan, this was ok but not great. The rooms were spacious the bed was comfortable. the Spa was great but the sauna and steam room were a bit on the small side. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay all our meals were good quality. I would certainly be happy to recommend to family and friends
The view from the window
Not enough hangers for shirts and coats The bread selection was poor at breakfast
The look and feel, friendly staff always willing to help always saying hello including the cleaning staff in the mornings to the waiting staff.
The Gruffalo hiding under my bed that being the mass amount of dust I thought was going to form and eat me
The room was clean and had been refurbished
Promised a room with a view. We had a view of stairs. Could not use bath as bathroom lights on a two minute timer. Asked for this to be changed but no one could be bothered to change this. The leisure centre was dirty. Reception got me out of bath as guests had to move vehicles to allow a coach access hotel. Reported issues at checkout and receptionist was not interested.
Great venue for a Wedding. Friendly hard working staff, had a lovely evening meal
Cocktail prices very high
The hotel has been refurbished to a high standard. The food was very good. The location is excellent.
The sloping ceiling in our room was a safety hazard. The automatic lighting for the bathroom was a ridiculous idea.
Nice central hotel
The bedrooms were very very hot with only a small fan to help with the heat - there were no windows to open uncomfortable sleep for two nights - need air conditioning fitted
Comfortable stay
Lift not working, dropped ours bags on the way up. Pool good but sauna could do with a freshing up.
All round very nice
The building and the relaxed frontage area where you could relax and have a drink or meal
Great position. The weather helped a lot
There was nothing we didn't like
The hotel is beautiful and in such a lovely, picturesque location. Our room was huge, freshly renovated and really comfortable. As requested, we were given a room in a low traffic area, which was very important for us as we were travelling with our dog. It meant there weren’t people constantly walking past our door and disturbing him. The staff were absolutely lovely and really went above and beyond. One of the guests had parked in a way that was blocking the EV charger, and the lady at reception very kindly called them and asked them to move their car so we could charge ours. We really appreciated her help. Breakfast was delicious. There wasn’t a huge choice, but there was a full English and everything was fresh and good quality. They also kindly prepared a table for us in the lounge bar so we could have breakfast with our dog. We also had dinner there and really enjoyed the fish and chips and sticky toffee pudding. The best part for us was how genuinely dog friendly the hotel was. Our Buzz was treated like a VIP! 🐶 He got lots of attention, cuddles and even treats from the lovely staff. It was so nice to feel that he was really welcome. We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend the hotel. We’ll certainly be coming back one day! ❤️
Lovely dog friendly stay We’ve just come back from a lovely staycation in the Lake District, where we spent one night at The Grange Hotel, and we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is beautiful and in such a lovely, picturesque location. Our room was huge, freshly renovated and really comfortable. As requested, we were given a room in a low traffic area, which was very important for us as we were travelling with our dog. Food was very good
Hotel tired in places, parking very congested and despite having EV chargers they were always occupied by non-EV cars not charging (normally staff parking in them) that then had to be asked to move them
Location was lovely and our room was very spacious and front facing so we could see out to the bay. Many of the staff we met were lovely, hard working and very friendly.
I was disappointed by the spa facilities which felt quite tired and in need of a revamp. I had a pedicure treatment in a room which looked like a storage room, no proper foot spa just an armchair and a plastic tub. There was no real ambience, room was silent and just overhead lighting which meant it didn't feel very special or relaxing and me and the technician had to exchange small talk the whole time.
Good location for travelling around the Lake District
I booked my room with a bathroom and paid extra for that , which was not accommodated on the first day , they offered us to move on the next day however but it was so much hassle then. Over all it was an okay stay I expected better for the price we paid.
Beautiful hotel and surroundings
Nothing, some evening light entertainment would have made it perfect!
As the name suggests, this must have been a Grand Hotel back in the day. A fabulous building with many original features being maintained. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. A superb buffet breakfast with all you can eat.
We paid a premium for a front facing bedroom in anticipation of a view of Morecombe Bay, alas, trees have taken over and no view was visible. Also, we found the bar/lounge area quite uncomfortable with Limited comfortable lounge seating.
We had a lovely stay at the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The room was comfortable and well presented, and the staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive throughout our stay. The overall atmosphere was relaxing, and the service was excellent. Thank you to the whole team for making our stay so enjoyable. We would happily return and recommend the hotel to others.
Ensure check everything in the room when cleaning for the next guest.
Great location in the town. Food from the bar and breakfast were both great. Staff really friendly and the room was very clean.
Glad the spa wasn’t an additional cost as it was not relaxing when full of children, parents disregarding age rules for the hot tub and use of balls.
Architecture was very nice.
Everything except the building had low quality vibes... the cost premium doesn't come close to matching the full experience.
Nice sized room. Very comfortable bed
Did not think the good was good value for money. Over priced
Hidden Gem, absolutely stunning and well kept with the 1930’s feeling but modern at the same time.
We went for an anniversary treat. The staff treated us incredibly well and looked after us, very friendly and courteous, especially the front staff, to make our stay top notch. There was a small issue but they resolved this quickly. The breakfast, dinner was all delightful and the hotel clean and very beautiful aesthetically inside and out. We would be happy to return again :)
Absolutely fantastic. The decor, the staff, the food, the value all ten out of ten.
Nothing.
Breakfast was ok. The bar and restaurant areas were nice.
The room was very poor and needs an urgent renovation. Broken window, poor fitting duvet and cover. Looked shabby and not as good as the photos portrayed.
Location was really nice. Breakfast was good. Nice hot shower.
The location is perfect. A beautiful hotel, clean and well Presented. The staff are lovely the food delicious thank you for lovely stay we hope to return
Hot options
More cereal choice ie bran flakes/weetabix
Very helpful staff and we had a free room upgrade upon arrival to a boutique suite!
The car park filled up very quickly and therefore finding a space easily, was a bonus.
Lovely hotel staff all excellent only downside our room was overlooking the bins and a skip spoiled it a little
The hotel is beautiful and good facilities, BUT after attending a wedding nearby we returned to the Grange for drinks to find there was NO BEER at the bar!
This is a nice hotel…for the 1950s. So much potential but…No chance for early check-in Elevator broken with many stairs No A/C and windows painted shut. Common areas need painting and cleaning and more style / appeal. Parking atrocious and random. No signage. Room had low ceilings with no warning, dirty carpet and remote control that didn’t work. Bathroom no real soap just body wash. Breakfast stations needed refreshing more frequently and no host to be found each mor. Room service menu different than the one you scan in the room. 4 stars? More like 3 with improvements needed. View is nice and the location convenient to prom and town.
Really enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. The spa and pool were a nice bonus, and everything was easy from check-in to check-out.
The only small issue was that the Wi-Fi could be a bit slow at times, but it didn’t affect our stay.
Good location and excellent customer service
Nowt
Very stylish.
Pool and changing room could be updated.
Location , gardens, interior bright and modern but classy . Superb breakfast
Very quiet in the evening with no atmosphere . Expensive dinner
I have stayed at this hotel several times. Great location. Staff brilliant. Very pleasant. Breakfast good. Lots of choice. Different dining options bar food and restaurant all of a good quality and standard. Recently updated decor. Very chic. Only issue pool was very busy, as I stayed in the school holidays.
Good breakfast especially liked the artisan coffee. Staff welcoming and efficient. Comfortable bed. Clean spacious and nicely furnished.room.
The lift was out of order and we were up several flights of stairs. There was a standing fan in the room but it wasn't effective with the extreme heat.
Everything it was perfect.
Maybe the parking needs sorting out a bit better
Friendly staff. Hotel is spacious and spotlessly clean. Food was very good.
Could do with a decent size floor flan as the bedroom was uncomfortably hot making sleep difficult. Dinner service was extremely slow.
Good sized bedroom, comfortable bed. Spacious breakfast room. Buffet breakfast of good quality. Location near the waterside. Pleasant outside area for guest use.
Car parking a bit haphazard. Bedroom was very warm, even with window open and fan.
Staff amazing. Great food lovely decor and great location
Nothing
staff were very friendly and welcoming nothing was to much trouble. The hotel was top quality rooms were emaculate and very spacious food was great as well.
could do with a little more parking
Stayed with my 14 year old daughter. Our bedroom had pink tiles with burgundy grout. And a cupcake shaped bath. We had the most amazing steak and chicken burger in our room. This was especially appreciated as we had the Sunday sleepover deal which was for Sunday lunch but they let us switch to the evening meal instead. The staff were friendly. The room was super cute. My 14 year old absolutely loved it. If I had one criticism (sorry!) it would be the breakfast - it was a buffet. And everything was a bit meh. And the coffee machines were a bit empty so I went and bought one from the bar. But overall yes we will definitely be back. We had a late check out. And it was much appreciated mum and daughter time.
Very dog friendly Lovely helpful staff Large modern room Great value
WiFi signal was poor in the room I had and there is no signal at the hotel Not really the hotels fault but the room was quite hot, although a fan was provided
I liked the staff and the location of property. It was close to other villages in Lake district. Staff was lovely and helpful
Unfortunately, the room was not as clean as we expected. There were lots of stains on the carpet and lots of cat hair on the bed. It is a spa hotel that is one of the reasons why I also booked. However, the pool and general the spa area was very dirty. You could see that it has not been cleaned for a while. Around the pool you could see the built up dirt. Very disappointed.
Reception!! Helpful, all the time.
A double in one of the rooms vice 2 singles but we made it work!! 👍
Breakfast was very nice. The location was perfect for me. The hotel has been refurbished tastefully. The staff were all friendly and efficient. I love the initiative to give guests a voucher to spend in the bar if you elect not to have your room serviced. Good for the guests and for the hotel!
Single rooms are often petite and this one was no exception! I think the idea of having rooms with French windows opening into the atrium is questionable. I know it has been a hot summer but it was only 18-20C outside while I was there and although there was a window open (slightly) in the atrium, the room was stuffy, and had little access to fresh air, light or a view. I hate to think what it was like in any of the heatwaves we have had this summer. The fan helped a bit but really only blows hot air around and they are all too noisy to have on while sleeping. Also, I was charged for an extra breakfast. This was rectified when I noticed I had been emailed a receipt for £15, and phoned the hotel to question it.
We visit the Grange regularly, and have enjoyed seeing the redecoration and room upgrades coming about. We booked the Summer Sparkle bb offer, and were informed on arrival that we had been upgraded. We had a lovely room with a view over the fountain and the bay. We expected the free cocktails on this offer would be limited to lower priced options, but when my wife enquired, Chloe the bartender asked what she liked. When Lisa said she liked rum and coffee, she amended her recipe for espresso martini, and then produced a small artwork of presentation. We’d had a lovely day out in Grange, and this was the icing on the cake. After a peaceful night we were greeted by helpful breakfast staff, and enjoyed a buffet breakfast which set us up for the day.
Fantastic service ,welcome and great food.Only issue was even using the fan provided and all windows open the room was very warm .Pool was nice but sauna and changing rooms were a little tired looking and in need of redecoration.
Beautiful location and super rooms with beautiful decor. Highly recommend a stay here
