Cosy little place with amazing communal lounge with daily Happy Hour
View over the car park
The view was beautiful, we could see the lake and mountains. Great breakfast with lots of options. Staff were friendly and helpful. Happy hour was a nice touch.
Maintenance was poor. We had light bulbs missing and a fan that didn’t work in the bathroom.
Well located in Queenstown, and a very cosy hotel. The afternoon happy hour was excellent, breakfast great and rooms lovely!
Nothing
Hotel has a great location, within minutes of central Queenstown.
Happy hour, clean, sizeable room, lounge area, breakfast, location, staff and overall cool interior decoration.
Small details but the fire never really got going for more than half an hour - purely for limited effect and outdoor one never lit. Ventilation in bathroom didn’t seem to be there. Bed wasn’t made properly ever.
Cute white lotus vibes, Decor that is Great location for Queenstown, every close to everything Evening drinks and complimentary snacks a bonus. So much better than chain hotels for similar price.
Everything about this boutique hotel made for a great stay. It's a short, easy walk down the hill into Queenstown's town centre, so we had quick access to restaurants, shops, and the lake. The atmosphere was warm and social — guests naturally chatted over breakfast and during the hosted drinks session between 5–6pm. The room was a great size, everything was spotlessly clean, and the value was excellent given the rate included continental breakfast plus free drinks and snacks in the common area. Staff were friendly, responsive, and easy to deal with throughout. Despite being close to town, it was generally quiet, with just a little early morning noise as Queenstown woke up.
Parking is paid and must be booked in advance. If you're driving and don't sort this out ahead of time, you could end up needing to park elsewhere and walk back to the hotel.
Absolutely loved the location! We never needed a car—the place is perfectly situated for strolling around and exploring Queenstown. The mountain views from our bedroom were incredible. 🏔️ Happy hour was fantastic, with great wine and the perfect opportunity to meet new people. Loved the lolly bar :) The staff were so friendly and welcoming; they genuinely made us feel like family. Would happily stay here again! ❤️
Easy to get to nice and quiet and very comfortable also parking
Nothing
The included breakfast and happy hour were a great touch, and the bookable hot tub was great. The historic building has so much charm and the staff are wonderful.
The heat control in the room was difficult to work out, and the after-hours reception numbers we were given weren't answered.
Happy hour was a great way to relax and socialise with other guests. The platters that accompanied the wines were always fresh and tasty.

Absolutely LOVED our stay at The Dairy! 🥰 The team were absolutely fantastic and made us feel so welcome. We’ll definitely be back! The complimentary happy hour was such a lovely touch, with delicious wine and the yummiest snacks. Special shoutout to the smoky cheese... I’m still dreaming about it! 🧀🤤 The cosy fireplace, gorgeous aesthetic and all-round atmosphere made it such a beautiful place to stay in Queenstown. Couldn’t recommend it more! ❤️
What a beautiful quaint homely property. Complimentary extras were much appreciated. Fantastic location
We loved the coziness of The Dairy Hotel and that it was quiet despite being so close to the centre of town. The happy hour is a great way to meet other guests over a wine and snacks, we joined every evening we were there and got some great tips for things to do. We used the lounge a lot in the late afternoons and evenings. The room was a good size and the bed comfortable. The staff were very helpful too.
The bathroom was rather dated (but functional) and the wardrobe doors wouldn't stay closed. Also the breakfast, whilst a decent but limited choice, was the same every day which is a bit boring for a week stay. Having a change of feature dish instead of bacon croissant each day would have been nice.
Amazing location, lovely rooms, wonderful staff. Happy hour was wonderful. Space to store skis + close to the coronet/remarkables Ski Bus pick up/drop off. Spa was lovely and the view over the mountains was beautiful. The decor was well thought out and the space was cosy and comfortable.
Nothing - it was perfect
We loved our experience here! The rooms are brilliantly appointed, staff was gracious and helpful and the location is ideal! Their happy hour is a perfect time to visit with other guests! Would absolutely stay here again!!!
Great location great staff great room
The atmosphere when we arrived was so warming - it was happy hour and they put on free social drinks and nibblies in the communal lounge space. The decor is sublime. Sophisticated vintage-style fittings, wallpaper and furniture. There's minimal parking available onsite but they are next to a Wilson Carpark. It was easy enough to get your bags in and out of the bar at the front of the building. Location was brilliant, you cross the road and walk straight into town! Everything was clean and nicely styled. Good sized room and spacious bathroom. It's a lovely timber heritage building so we could easily hear when someone slammed a door - might be a challenge for a lite sleeper. The bed was comfortable and we slept very well! Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Location, friendliness of staff, simple but delicious breakfast, hot tub and happy hour
Nothing at all.
Location and breakfast
Great hotel in a really good location. Staff were really nice. We will stay here again. Thanks John & Julia Kear.
Great hotel, central location, reasonable rate, breakfast and happy hour included. Room was very comfortable and perfect for our stay.
Convenient location and friendly staff. Clean and comfortable. Private and safe.
Fireplace was only lit one night of our 6 night stay? Bathrooms are dated.
Fabulous hotel. The staff were all super friendly and helpful and the evening happy hour was a lovely way to meet other guests, share some stories and tips and relax before heading out for the evening. The room was spacious and comfortable. We will be back
Absolutely perfect stay! One of the absolute best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Warm, friendly, cosy, affordable and so close to everything. Will def stay here again.
The location is between Skyline and Queenstown CBD. Very convenience! The bed is so comfortable and the staffs are very helpful! I will stay again when I visit Queenstown in the future!
Great location, very comfortable.
Fantastic location. Such a cosy & unique experience staying at The Dairy Hotel. We would highly recommend

A great location in central Queenstown.
We thought it was bad value for money. The rooms were very dated with bathrooms desperately in need of renovation. The first room we were given had no view and was looking directly into a wall. The staff then gave us another room which was smaller but had a view of the mountains which we appreciated. The breakfast was basic, the coffee pods were terrible and power boards with glowing orange lights near the bed sums up the attention to detail at this hotel. A very disappointing stay.
We stayed at The Dairy Hotel for a week. The location was perfect in central Queenstown literally 2 minutes from the main shops, restaurants etc. Staff were extremely friendly and so kind. The hotel was clean and tidy with well equipped rooms with all that you need; toiletries, iron, towels etc and came with a mini bar of soft drinks and treats. We loved the daily happy hour in the cosy lounge where complimentary wine, beer and snacks were on offer - such a great idea. We had no issue with noise at night and loved the fact the hotel was so close to key pick up points for day trips/excursions. Hot tub in hotel was great and has an amazing view of the Remarkables. All in all, we had a lovely stay and will return when back in Queenstown.
The location is fantastic!
This place is great 10/10 cant wait to get back

Loved the room - size, view and decoration. Also loved the cosy lounge area which includes a happy hour every day, a nice touch.
Had an amazing stay at The Dairy. The rooms were comfortable, the breakfast very high quality and the happy hour a nice little treat. Will definitely come back.
We absolutely loved our stay at The Dairy Private Hotel, Queenstown. Everything about it felt special from the moment we arrived. The decor is just gorgeous—quaint, stylish, and full of charm. Every space, inside and out, feels thoughtfully designed and warm, almost like staying in a beautifully curated home rather than a hotel. Little touches made a big difference too—the free snacks and mini bar were such a treat, especially the real milk (yes, proper fresh milk with cream on top… a small detail but somehow unforgettable!). Our room was well equipped with everything we needed (loved the Netflix & chill vibe) and the location honestly couldn’t be better. You’re just steps from the centre of town, the Skyline cable car, Kiwi Park, and Lake Wakatipu. And if you love coffee, you’re spoiled—literally 10 steps away is incredible coffee at Bespoke Kitchen. The staff were genuinely lovely—friendly, helpful, and easygoing—and both check-in and check-out were seamless from start to finish. We couldn't fault anything and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. A perfect blend of comfort, character, and location.
We’ve just had a great stay at The Dairy hotel. It’s cozy and comfortable. There’s a delicious continental breakfast each morning and happy hour in the afternoon. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Location of hotel is well located, below the gondola and a few flights of stairs (or ramp) down to Ferburger. Contact ahead to reserve a carpark as they are limited. We will definitely return
Close to town. And close to overnight parking. Happy hour etc etc etc Comfortable and lovely appointed.
Fun and comfortable place to stay. Warm, welcoming and thoughtful staff. Hope we can return in future.

Friendly personal service , enjoyed happy hours drinks and nibbles . The spa was always hot and staff excellent. Great location
Kia Ora, The location was fabulous, and the complimentary breakfast, happy hour, and spa were fantastic bonuses. Overall, it was a beautiful place to stay, made even more special by the stunning views. Highly recommend. Ngā mihi nui mō tō manaaki
Fantastic location, so warm and cozy , great breakfast and happy hour. Would highly recommend
Location and homeliness
Could get nosey with either neighbouring backpackers or local bars - this wasnt later than 10pm though
The location is excellent. The staff very welcoming. Liked the little extra snacks and drinks in the lounge. Quaint rustic building.
Nothing really.
Close to town and short walk to restaurants and bars. Happy hour at 5-6pm with complementary wine and beer was a hit.
Excellent location - we didn't use the car once we arrived. Breakfast was a great value inclusion.
Room was a bit small but given the downstairs lounge area and that we were out all day it didn't really matter.
Its all in the little things they do extra, unlimited lolly/tea/coffee/cool drinks, free happy hour every night with alcohol and cheese platters. Hot tub available and included in the room price. Gorgeous breakfast included and complimemtary mini bar with snacks and drink fir each room. The location was perfection, 50m to the centre of the town and 50m to the luge and kiwi park etc. This was the best hotel we have stayed in throughout our time in the South Island. Will definitely be back!
Nothing not to like.
Cosy. Clean. Amazing service. Great value for price.
早餐不错,离市中心很近
停车略微不便
The location, the staff and the comfortable rooms.

Great vibe. Loved the happy hour opportunity to meet other guests. Very helpful staff.
Their website goes all out to sell itself as ‘boutique luxury’ so I was curious to see if it delivered. Can’t fault the location. We booked parking (limited & pricey). Great building & limited number of guests. Fairly quiet although you can hear others coming & going in nearby rooms. Some street noise from passersby. A limited view to the mountains & a carpark but window high enough that it didn’t bother us. Nice touches such as the sweet station/coffee bar. Unable to heat up milk though! Basic continental b’fast choices. Very very cold in this room & when I asked about heating, I was told that there wasn’t any!! Come-on this is an easy fix….plug in a heater. Happy hour in the lovely lounge area also a great idea which people took advantage of but again….freezing in there. ‘Sink into a chair by the fire’, I wish we could have!! A gorgeous fireplace with no fire!! Everyone was complaining. At first glance we liked the room (even if quite small) especially as your eye is drawn to the lovely, wallpapered ceiling. However, after settling in, you notice other things. Remember they advertise “alpine-chic rooms, where bold design meets botanical flair. Curl up in cosy …..unwind in our sanctuaries” Reality. Slightly grubby carpet. “Adjustable mood lighting’, if they mean the dimmer switch then it didn’t work & the lighting was poor. Bed comfy but not sure what ‘Naumi's signature bedding’ was. Chipped brown tables. Hard to open wardrobe door. One chair although nicely upholstered. Brown curtains. Large ornate mirror & a couple of coat hooks added nothing to the room Bathroom. Small, shower good but again a cold room. Loo paper & tissues not replenished, had to ask. Not easy to find reception area or any attending staff. More than one person wandering around looking lost! I get the feeling that the hotel is run on a day-to-day basis by ‘back-packers’. This could be an exceptional hotel just as advertised, focus on the essentials & the customer service. It’s not quite there & based on our room it needs some updating.
The staffs are super helpful and kind. True Kiwi hospitality. Breakfast and happy hour are included Location is super convenient
The bathroom facilities are bit old. They are clean though.
Staff and service
The bathroom facilities are old. Sink clogged.
Loved it, happy hour much appreciated
A little more than just a hotel. A wonderful experience all round. Lovely staff, clean and tidy, creative furnishings. Complementary happy hour was unexpected. Lots of fun. We’ll be back.
Highly recommend this boutique hotel. Great location, lovely rooms, not to mention the outdoor spa and happy hour. Staff are really helpful and friendly. Really loved our stay even although we had to leave for early flight home. Staff provided us with boxed breakfast. Could not fault it at all. Great place and value for money!
The Dairy Hotel is a terrific property with the perfect location in Queenstown. The owner Bryan was exceptional in accommodating a change to our travel plans and even had a wonderful welcome package of treats when we arrived. The hot tub was very relaxing as well! We highly recommend The Dairy Hotel!
This hotel is within good walking distance to the town centre, restaurants and shops. It was quiet with a nice lounge area.
Fabulous place in a great location. Very helpful and accommodating staff..
Absolutely perfect in every way. Located so close to everything, including great brunches at Bespoke; and Jervois and Rāta and Bella Cucina for dinner. Room had beautiful high quality fittings. Staff were so lovely and helpful. Extra complimentary inclusions like mini bar, happy hour, Lolly station and light breakfast were so appreciated (they will even pack a breakfast box for you if you’re heading off early). Lovely comfortable bed, shower was lovely and hot and excellent pressure. The room had a great bath and the bath salts were a lovely touch. Really liked the toiletries from Antipodes too! There are only 4 car parks available ($25/day extra), so book early if you need one! You will need to be ok with stairs for accessing breakfast room and the first (top) floor rooms - I did not see a lift. Will definitely return to this delightful hotel.
Extremely conformable room with everything you could want. Compact and the decor is superb for a unique stay. Sitting area and breakfast areas are gorgeous and room had a beautiful view. Bed and sheets extremely luxurious. Staff are friendly and helpful. Happy hour is a treat!
Not necessarily a bad thing - being in a busy area means more night time pedestrian noise and the old building means the walls are not super thick and can hear other guests.
Location friendliness and attention to customer comfort
Nothing
It was a unique experience, very comfortable and hospitable. Every evening was Happy Hour by the fireplace where we met and chatted with guests from all over the world. Cute breakfast room and on days we had to leave early, we had boxed breakfasts in our room. Location is close to the city center and to the Gondola. Staff was very friendly. Hotel is very clean. We loved it!
Great location, clean room
Breakfast offering was underwhelming.
The location was convenient to the gondola, and central Queenstown.
The room was dusty in places, if you suffer from allergies or hay-fever ask them to change the bedding as they use duck-down duvets. One staff member was particularly rude and sarcastic when asking for assistance.
Nice small size.
All good
Quirky hotel, with a lounge area where they do complimentary drinks and snacks every afternoon. Nice touch. Good quality continental breakfast. Great location, in terms of being a short walk from the centre of town.
Room overlooked a floodlit car park so had to keep curtains shut and couldn't open window as lots of people noise through to the early hours. Ask for a quite room facing away from road / car park. Our aircon/heater didn't work, and we asked twice to have it fixed, and though they said it was, it wasn't.
Great location, clean and comfortable. Nice facilities.
All good.
Central location, happy hour, helpful staff, welcoming ambience. Staff parked our car for us when we were out all day to avoid car park charges, and made us up breakfast bags as we were leaving before 8am. Nothing was too much trouble
Lack of parking spaces. Slightly dated bathroom suite.
