The food, the team, the warmth
The stairs
It felt very like being at home and very relaxing. It was busy but not overcrowded. Guests and staff were very friendly.
We didn’t like the stairs to our room as we were in the Attic! Our room was lovely though! Very cosy, beds very comfortable and bathroom a good size.
Incredible location with a rich history, nested in a great corner of IOW, with amazing staff and so many things to keep the whole family safely entertained.
Location in Shanklin good. Excellent hotel facilities. Pools etc. Fresh milk in room fridge for tea. Food v good in restaurant
Room adequate, but quite small and a bit dated
My husband enjoyed a seafood platter. I love the garden and entertainment/play area for kids and pools. Love the view too. Thoughtful staff where we had our late lunch forgot his name.
Good room size, nice pool and retro games room. Really enjoyed the stay.
Could improve the breakfast selection. But the chosen breakfast extras made up for it. No AC in the summer for the room. It only had a fan. Needs to improve this to make worth the money. and no slippers....
I loved the garden (very whimsical!) and the beautiful cliffside view. Great location (right next to the Chine and old town). The jungle-themed pool was also very nice!
Brilliant location, enjoyed the beautiful gardens and pool area. The children enjoyed the outside games and the games room. We enjoyed the dinner
I found so many steps inside and out difficult
All Swimming pool, sauna and facilities very good. Reception lady Kath i think so it was her name, she use to leave Brixton in 70’s that was nice welcome for as my partner been leaving Brixton 27 years
All good, part of breakfast can be improve and have different varieties. As if you dont eat pork, egg, raw salmon. Maybe can be some sliced cheese, charcuterie (beef, chicken, turkey slices and sardines on the buffet.
Breakfast was wonderful. Varied choice of fruits and pastries. Cooked breakfast was served quickly and was wonderful. I had a different cooked breakfast each morning and each was exceptional. Staff really friendly and efficient. All clean and plates cleared really quicly. Wonderful view from our room and gardens beautiful.
Noisy rooms. We had someone above our room walking up and down and moving things around. This could all be heard really easily. Water noisy when anyone flushed toilets or use the wash basins.
Staff superb. Facilities excellent. One of the better IoW hotels. Don't expect London chic, but instead, a well-run (all-round) authentic English seaside hotel. I'll certainly be booking again the next time I'm on the IoW
The food was good.. but I think a little more creativity/finish/thought could be added to make this a 'destination' hotel.
The location and view.
The property is in need of a refresh and is outdated. It has great potential but the decor is tired.
The view and the garden and the balcony were truly wonderful. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, going above and beyond to help my husband when he needed some medical assistance with a cut he got while out and about. Lovely atmosphere generally.
Mostly the dinners were great - just one night not so good. A little bit more clarity about how to access the outside pool would be helpful. Parking is a bit tight if you have access issues just getting out of your car, but I can’t see how that can be changed.
Every thing you needed has been provided. The staff were professional and very friendly and helpful. The restaurant staff were exceptional, I’ve not seen such silver service waiting standards like that for a long time. The food was lovely both breakfast and evening meals. The gardens are absolutely amazing beautifully manicured and a pleasure to be in, loved listening to the water feature and watching the fish. Loved the indoor pool and 80’s games room too.
The room we were in was up an additional flight of stairs that was very narrow. Just something to mention if someone had mobility issues.
view and friendly staff and good value
Excellent breakfast Friendly staff
Great location and facilities with swimming pools and games room.
Car parking can be tight. But goo do number of charge points.
Lovely few days at Luccombe Hall Hotel. Cannot fault anything. The staff were all friendly and helpful and always made a point of acknowledging you. We stayed in an executive room and it was excellent with great views of the gardens and sea and a large veranda, robes and slippers, coffee/tea/water and fresh fruit were provided in the room. Breakfast was excellent with a large choice and other meals-lunch/dinner were available. There is an indoor swimming pool and sauna free to use and although we didnt have children there is a large selection of game tables/machines and toys for all ages. The outdoor pool wasnt open when we were there due to early season but looked very inviting.
Cannot think of anything that could be faulted.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful location within easy walking distance of Shanklin village. Beautiful gardens. Excellent breakfast and evening meal. Easy parking.
Unable to open bathroom window. Games room too dark to play a serious table-tennis match.
My room was stunning as was the view. Comfortable bed, great food and service. Room and hotel very clean Undergoing a refit in many areas but disruption to patrons minimal if at all. Both shift managers were extremely helpful with local places to walk/ visit Highly recommend staying here
Couldn’t fault anything during my stay
The staff were fantastic, the indoor pool and hot tub were a god send after a few days of walking
Bit tricky to get to
The staff are super friendly and helpful.
Couldn’t fault it.
Staff very professional and extremely helpful. The hotel was very clean and the location was very good for all shops and attractions in Shanklin. Breakfast was tasty and well presented. Would recomment.
Not very much, but did think the swimming/sauna area should have its own entrance as opposed to coming through the bar area.
太偏僻了,对我们这种走路为主的非常不友好,每天走路非常累
We upgraded to sea view room as the view from the hotel is fantastic - 180 degrees sea view and beautiful gardens and outdoor pool. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. they were very helpful with booking the ferry and indications for electric car charging.
Breakfast could have been slightly richer with cold ingredients such as ham, cheese and vegetables.
Excellent location, good food, nice views from lounge. Beautiful gardens.
View from bedroom was poor.. Changing facilities for spa were inadequate.
Beautiful views and lovely hotel, great facilities and excellent location
Shower was very weak and the breakfast price was way too high!
Our room was modern and the beds we’re comfortable We loved our sea view and the lovely gardens We had dinner in the restaurant in the evening and The food was all homemade. Portions were generous but not too much. We asked for bread and they brought nice fresh bread and butter. Breakfast was lovely too. There is a new games room in the basement and a nice tropical pool with jacuzzi and sauna. This place is a little gem. We got free passes for the Chine gorges which are lovely.
Nothing
Clean, Amazing view , good location, have fun at games room ☺️ , friendly atmosphere. Close to Amaizing Chinese park . Definitely come back
Sauna could be better and safer place to leave belongings
View was nice
Very dated, tatty and not clean. No water to fill up kettle and the kettle was too big to fill up in the bathroom basin which was very unhygienic, we had to use a glass to fill it up from the tap. The towels provided were so old and frayed and discoloured as so old. The bar area was not relaxing as people were waking through in their dressing gowns from the pool also a lot of through traffic from the people in the sister hotel that just wanted to use the pool. The toilet was dirty when we arrived.
I loved how friendly and helpful all staff were. I was lucky enough to have pool and hot rub to myself so that was even more a treat! In my room i had a bath with jets i wasnt expecring so was a lovely surprise. Great seaviews and wonderful food. Definitely the relaxation i needed after a stressful few day. I cant wait until i can return!
Nothing i could fault
sooooooo good!
Location
No lift to upper floors
Very clean and warm. Comfy room with lovely toiletries, tea, coffee etc. Nice bar area. Pool and sauna fine. Lovely breakfast with gorgeous view. Friendly staff.
It's very pleasant and comfy. Parking bit tricky.
The hotel was in a beautiful place
We had a spa bath in room anf unfortunately it wasn't cleaned the jets were absolutely disgusting I had to run bath 4 times to get jets clean and than clean the bath after as this was a birthday present im not very happy
Hotels grounds, garden, pool and location are exceptional.
However, standard family room that we got allocated is very very basic. No space to move in the room at all, no storage to unpack or open suitcase. everything is outdated, dirty, dusty and old. Rooms desperately need an upgrade. Shower was making horrible squeaky noise, kettle dirty and smelly. Awful value for money , room charges are overpriced for what you get. Plus hotel charges for full English breakfast for children and adults, no continental option. A bowl of cereal with toast for a child is £8.
Hotel choice was amazing. The staff were exceptional, and everybody else… We could not fault this hotel. The drinks by the pool side were awesome. The waitresses were amazing bringing drinks to us by the pool side… we will definitely be coming back… thank you so much for your hospitality 10/10!!!!
Number one was the staff they're fantastic location is amazing facilities incredible. I travel to the island lots one of the best hotels I've stayed in.
I couldn't work the coffee machine in my room. It's a bloke thing.
Staff welcoming, main areas very well kept, free games retro game room quality, location.
No hot water on the morning of check out, not offered an alternative before checking out, or any compensation for that matter. Bathroom tired, silicone black, dusty mirrors.
The staff were lovely and the woman at the desk was very accommodating, there was plenty to do at the hotel in the arcade room and the spa area, the views from our balcony were amazing and the room was excellent, would love to come back in the summer
It was very homely
Nothing
Accueil et personnel super
The Hotel was in a lovely setting, the staff were excellent and very helpful 👍. We had breakfast on both days we stayed and found the choices of food to a very high standard. We would definitely visit again. 😃
The rooms did allow a lot of hotel noise which was disturbing. Although the facilities were amazing 👏
Everything
Everything is good
Lovely views nice sized rooms, good food friendly staff
Had to go through dining room to get to outside jacuzzi. Had to go through lounge area to get to indoor pool.
The whole stay was great beutiful hotel pool sauna ect and thaff could not do enough for you
Next time would make sure i got a room on a lower floor lots of stars as was in the roof rooms
clean comfortable great views and location
poor shower pressure disappointing in executive suite barely any pressure at all
Luccombe Hall is our favourite destination on the Isle of Wight.
Views to die for! Great Breakfasts
Toilets seemed to have drain issues (occassional smells).
Loved this hotel
There was nothing not to like
Hot tub , breakfast, staff and Kathy
Nothing
We had a room with balcony and sea view which was excellent. Breakfast was very good, cooked items could sometimes have been a little better ( compared with previous visit in 2024), and the same goes for the dinner on a few occasions. But overall the standard is high. Staff all friendly, professional and helpful. A lift would be helpful
Stunning location, with views from the dining room across the sea. Beautiful gardens. Outdoor jacuzzi with a view of the sea. Beautiful bedroom with whirlpool bath in the en-suite. Friendly staff who were always cheerful and helpful. Great breakfast. Beautiful evening meals, Well stocked bar. Retro 80’s room with free Arcade machines. Shanklin is a beautiful old English village with a walk through the historic Shanklin Chine to the promenade.
Very minor whinges: shower in en-suite was disappointing. (Especially after the amazing shower in the changing area for the outdoor pool). Towel rail in bathroom was burning hot. Shower for sauna was out of order. The jacuzzi jets were not all functioning.
The facility has a lot of amenities ( access to three heated pools with jacuzzi and sauna, games room with various games, evening singers from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm ) and beautiful sea views. The location was fantastic within 5 mins walk to village town centre and the coastal side. Hotel booking also give you 50% discount on a ferry ( ferry has to be booked by them) and free pass to the Shanklin Chine. The staff were fantastic, service with a smile, and provided everything we asked for. We felt very welcomed and will definitely rebook if we are planning a trip back to Isle of Wright. We also had food in the hotel in one of the night, from a takeaway menu, the pizza was amazing, so I can imagine the restaurant meal will be too. Their restaurant was always busy for both lunch and dinner.
My room (room 4) was far too small for the amount I paid (£1000 for three nights through booking.com WITHOUT breakfast). This was very disappointing as the room was very basic without fridge or bathrobes/slippers, which i would expect from the price. These would have been handy for going to the pool, as to access the pool, you have to go through the restaurant full of people having their meal. The room didn't have a balcony but had a side view of the sea through the window.
Beautiful gardens and great games room
View from our room
Everything
Lovely gardens, pools, sea views, friendly staff.
The lack of evening atmosphere. The entertainment finished at 9.30 so everyone had gone to bed by 10pm. Bar was closed and everywhere locked up soon after. The semi dark empty lounge felt spooky and unwelcoming, no place to sit and read etc.
Great clifftop location, with stunning ocean views. Easy walk to beach and restaurants. A room with a balcony is highly recommended. The restaurant has a small menu each evening, but the food is excellent, as is the service. Staff are very friendly and responsive to your needs.
Nothing
The site's location and view were pleasing to me.
Nothing
Nice garden, friendly staff
Really expensive poor value for money
The staff were friendly and hardworking, the views from the garden out to sea were very pleasant with plenty of shade available.
I have been visiting the island a couple of times a year over the last 20 years, staying in a wide range of accommodation. Room 15 is the most disappointing room I have been in. The very narrow and steep stairs to access room 15 proved a daily challenge. I spoke to a young lady at the reception desk immediately after seeing the room (before unpacking), she was polite but guarded in her response. I did however get the message loud and clear, she was keen to point out that I had used booking .com for my stay, room 15 was the result
EV charger was complementary and conveniently located.
The hotel was overpriced for what was offered. The room was too hot (only a fan, no AC), with limited privacy from neighbouring buildings. Furnishings throughout were basic and not particularly comfortable, lighting was harsh, and the shower poor. No coffee maker—just instant granules and basic tea bags—and no complimentary water. Breakfast wasn’t included. Overall, disappointing value for the cost. Probably better value for families with small children.
It was a great hotel for families and the staff were lovely
No air con, our room was stifling and unsafe for children
Amazing stay great hotel will definitely come back .
Staff, food and location perfect.
No lift and very steep stairs although staff helped with luggage.
Great view, service staff at high level, good food
From checking inn, from leaving , .. the hotel staff were outstanding , .. so friendly and welcoming. The hotel was beautiful, well maintained and beautiful placed . Great location .
