Everything about the place is lovely. Especially the two hosts, Simon and Jonathan. Very hospitable, excellent quality service and will definitely come back to the Avenue. Very accessible place to the station with only 5 mins walk. Also very close to the town centre.

We loved the introduction and welcoming from the owners Simon and Jonathan. The room was always clean and tidy with plenty of tea and coffee in room to make hot drinks and they were always restocked each day. We loved the breakfast and give a special thank you to Simon for his amazing scrambled eggs, eat your heart out Gordon Ramsey you have competition! Simon and Jonathan were extremely friendly and helpful and the whole experience was homely and enjoyable. We loved the honesty bar if you fancied a drink with a range of soft and alcoholic drinks. The location was only a short walk to Shanklin sea front where there is crazy golf, amusements and gorgeous restaurants to eat, but be warned the portions can be large. There are also many other attractions in Shanklin and nearby and we visited many of them. The Avenue had free onsite parking which is definitely a bonus. A wonderful stay. Thanks again Simon and Jonathan for making our week holiday so memorable.

Our 2 night stay was lovely at The Avenue. Shanklin. The owners were so friendly and could not do enough for us. Breakfast was excellent. Nice size bedroom for me & my sister. Everywhere very clean. Walking distance to beach and shops. Would definitely go back there.

The property was spacious….the lovely lounge and honesty bar was great to come back to and have a drink before bed. Dining area was lovely with a seating of 2 sofas to sit at and plan your day…a bright conservatory to use as well….is was nice to have different seating area’s…instead of being stuck in your bedroom. And Simon and Jonathan…well I cannot speak highly enough of them…nothing was too much trouble….they made you feel so welcome in to their home….i would definitely stay there when I visit the IOW again.

Our stay at The Avenue was extremely disappointing and fell far below the standard we expected from the photos and reviews. Our first impression on entering the building was a strong musty smell throughout the property, along with dated and poorly maintained décor. The welcome from the owners was also uncomfortable, feeling more like an interview than a relaxed check-in, which made the arrival experience quite awkward. Once we entered our room, we immediately noticed that the condition did not match the impression given by the listing photos and reviews. The musty smell continued into the room, and we felt the need to check the cleanliness before settling in. Unfortunately, we found multiple issues, including what appeared to be stains on the bedding, marks on the mattress protector, dust on surfaces including the headboard and TV, a dirty shower curtain and shower head, and visible mould-like staining around the window area with signs of condensation and damp. The most concerning issue was the bed itself, where the mattress appeared to be supported by a sheet of wood/board because the bed frame was broken. This was not acceptable for accommodation we had paid for. Within around 30 minutes of arriving, we were left feeling uncomfortable and had to urgently search for alternative accommodation. We contacted other B&Bs before eventually contacting Booking.com, who assisted in arranging a refund from the property. Although the refund was agreed, the situation caused unnecessary stress, disrupted our holiday, and left us temporarily £345 out of pocket while waiting for the money to return. We would not recommend staying here unless significant improvements were made to the overall cleanliness.

We had such a wonderful time at The Avenue. From the moment we arrived, Simon and Jonathan made us feel incredibly welcome and looked after throughout our stay. They were informative about the area and whole island, which made exploring so much easier. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet, with everything we needed. Breakfast was amazing every morning, freshly prepared which set us up for the day. The Avenue is located in close proximity to shops and only ten minutes from the beach and the restaurants, with car parking available which made everything hassle free. A truly lovely place with genuine hospitality. We hope we’ll come back.

The Avenue is run by father and son team Simon and Jonathan. They were very friendly and welcoming, with great attention to detail. Jonathan is a mine of local information on all things Isle of Wight. The room was very comfortable with a nice bed and a clean bathroom. Breakfast was cooked to order by Simon and served by Jonathan, the breakfast menu was quite extensive. The Avenue has also has a lounge and bar with an honesty arrangement whereby you write on a pad what you have drunk, then settle up at the end of your stay. The location of the Avenue is about 10 minutes walk from Shanklin's sea front down a short steep hill. There were plenty of car parks on the sea front if you choose to drive down. We loved the laid back island vibe and will certainly return to The Avenue on our next visit.

Fantastic welcome! The hotel is ran by a Father & son who do EVERYTHING themselves. From welcoming you with a friendly smile, providing information, being available 24/7, cleaning, cooking etc! They are Lovely hosts. The rooms are immaculately clean. Lovely comfortable beds & bedding. Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand-wash provided. Plenty off toilet paper & dignity bags for ladies products. Packets of tissues, tea, coffee, milks etc. The breakfast- lots of choice, nice ingredients, cooked well, served hot & always with a smile. They have a well stocked very reasonably priced bar.

The hotel is need of a deep clean. There were cobwebs and dust every where. Even the menus on the table need a good clean. The mattress was very old. The breakfast ingredients were not the best either.

The Avenue is a very elegant and comfortable boutique hotel in an excellent location. Particularly enjoyed the spacious accommodation, superb breakfasts and the opportunity to relax in the lounge and conservatory when not taking in much of what Shanklin has to offer.

The location is fantastic and having parking spaces was a real perk. We really liked the bar area as well as we were visiting as a group and it gave us a communal space. The hosts couldn’t have been friendlier and the breakfast was excellent
