Linda and Des were so welcoming from the moment I walked in. The Hotel is old world British seaside and I love how they have thoguht about guests needs. The set up downstairs with the Bar, the honesty box for drinks, snacks etc and that they even have takeaway plates etc if you decided on a takeaway in your room. They stored my bike too without any hassel. And it was an e bike. Room was spacious, clean. Bed was super comfortable and good set up with tea and coffee and smart TV etc. It was at thr front of the house and had plenty of light and view of the sea. Overall, stay exceeded my expectations. Linda and Des are great hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. We particularly enjoyed the beautiful swimming pool, the bar for a drink in the evenings and the superb breakfasts. Such a choice to be had but between us I think we tried just about everything. The hotel was spotlessly clean as was our room with crisp bed linen, white fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries. Particularly enjoyed having BBC i player to catch up on a couple of programmes that we'd missed.

Room was quite warm with the afternoon sun but we always kept the curtains drawn and that seemed to solve the problem. The room fan was a welcome addition.

Can’t say anything we disliked to be honest

The hosts were very welcoming & the place was lovely and clean. The 1st room was a little small, but we were given another room, which was much larger and more spacious. The pool was a great touch, especially in this heatwave.

I realize that the place is an older property but could use a little air conditioning, but as above, it was exceptionally hot the week we stayed.

Good location, central to buses and the train

Did not require breakfast, but my room was perfect for me on the ground floor being a visitor in my 80's. It was in a good position for trips out to local beauty spots.

The room was beautiful and completely exceeded my expectations! The bed was large, allowing us to get a good rest and relax after a long day of sightseeing. We will definitely choose this room again next time we come!

Lynda & Des were fantastic hosts. They were friendly, professional and always on hand to help with questions about the local area or recommendations. The breakfasts were exceptional! Anything that you might require for a breakfast was available and the cooked breakfast options were all very tasty, well cooked and served in a timely manner with a friendly face. The available trust box system for snacks and goodies was a really nice touch if you fancied a treat at any time of day or night. Also a wide range of holiday essentials were available to purchase if you forget anything or run short. Again, a really nice touch.

Only one very minor point during our whole stay, we had occasional instances of low water pressure with the shower. We mentioned this to our hosts as we left, but not as a point of complaint, purely for honest feedback. It did not detract from the enjoyment or comfort of our stay in any way as we were on holiday and able to fully enjoy the Belmont's facilities.

Very clean, comfortable. The owners, Linda and Des, were very attentive and thoughtful. They work very hard to make everything as perfect as possible for guests. Lovely breakfasts. The location is very convenient for both the beach and the town centre.

Nice, clean, quiet, hotel with ample provision of various needs easily available. Friendly, approachable staff, willing to help staff, who placed great value on ensuing their guests were well served. Excellent pool facility & well stocked bar and catering services. Good size rooms with good nights sleep.

We were greeted by the Hotels owners Des and Linda, who were extremely welcoming on our arrival. The hotel itself including our room was spotless. It is located in a perfect position near to the beach, the old town and shopping centre within easy walking distance. The dining area was in my opinion laid out immaculately and you could clearly see that the owners take pride in their hotel. There was a multitude options for breakfast but we stuck with the Full English and it was lovely. I would certainly recommend it. As we were there in the first start of January, it was extremely cold outside, but our room was extremely hot, in fact I had to turn the radiator down. The bed was one of the comfiest I have laid on. During our short stay we chatted quite a bit with Des and Linda, and enjoyed their company. I can genuinely say that this is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed at and certainly one of the friendliest. I wouldn’t hesitate to book this hotel again if we returned to the IOW. What a lovely warm and welcoming place really like it here good shower big smart tv proper comfy bed decent sized room blinds and curtains that block out all the light and best of all Yorkshire tea bags oh yeah also I didn't wake up till 09.30 an unintentional 4 hour lay in shows just how comfy and warm I was you can tell the owners take pride in what they do cheers guys see yer soon

Small niggle - Water takes a while to warm up in the bath and the shower head is powerless.

Lovely and quiet, great location. The infrared sauna was a great bonus. The owners were really nice and friendly.

The church next door was quite busy with bell ringing.

The property is amazing. It is an old Victorian house that was converted into a hotel 17 years ago. We stayed here for 3 nights and it was a very surreal experience. It almost felt like we were living in a castle from the inside. The property has an old sitting room that has many board games for the guests to play. I would say that this hotel is a must stay for anyone who wants to experience living in a Victorian house.

The only thing I did not like is that there was no daily housekeeping. However, we managed to keep the room clean ourselves, so that it was not required. Another downside is that, the breakfast options are quite limited and the breakfast items were not being replenished by the staff.

I'm a regular visitor to the Isle of Wight and have stayed at a dozen different hotels on the island. The Belmont was the best by far . Lovely friendly and welcoming hosts. Fantastic hotel in a great location , clean and comfortable with fabulous breakfasts . Will now be my go to hotel when I'm next over . Thank you so much Linda and Des .

No room cleaning all week. No top up of tea/coffee etc in room. Shower didn't work properly. Had poached eggs on toast only 1 slice of bread soggy as soaked in water from eggs. No fresh fruit at breakfast not even an apple or an orange. We left half way through our holiday.

Lyn and Des are very friendly and helpful. The rooms have everything you could need as well as being spotlessly clean and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, a huge range and very tasty. We stayed here for 2 nights and would happily come here again.

Brilliant hosts - got on extremely well with them. Lovely property, beautifully enhanced by the hosts in recent years. Great downstairs spaces in particular, with a few fascinating items on show. Breakfast set up first class (really first class) and nothing too much trouble.

I don't nit pick - if I did, it would be hard to fault anything.

The hotel is quite close to the beach with around 5min walk. Nice and warm host. The swimming pool is really nice.

The water pressure of the shower is low.

Gorgeous room so cosy and a very comfortable bed.very clean.staff are exceptional they really are friendly and look after you and the breakfast is 10/10. Absolutely loved my swim in the pool and delicious cocktails! Beautiful building lovely staff absolutely loved it there!

The room is relatively small, and the bed is as small as a standard double bed. The water pressure in the shower is low.

I liked the room, that the hotel was adult only, the welcome from the owners and the ability to purchase water etc with the honesty box out of hours. Breakfast was great except I had to leave early for work so missed cooked but the cold was enough to grab something quickly and go, be it rushed.

Ability to have a slightly earlier breakfast however I hadn't read this detail on booking so not really a fault of the hotel.

The hosts Linda and Des were wonderful in making us comfortable. Our room was larger than we expected and super clean with lovely views. The breakfast was great and we chatted a lot with fellow guests. We will definitely come back to this lovely hotel! Old town Shanklin is very pretty and very close to the hotel.

We had been disappointed with our original booking. The Belmont made us extremely welcome the same day. The staff took pleasure in the excellent service they offered. Can't thank them enough.

The hotel offered an all round service in beautiful grounds including a swimming pool at the rear . Most unusual. It is well placed to visit Shanklin Chine.

Excellent hosts, Des and Linda are very warm and friendly and can't do enough for you. The room was compact but comfortable and clean with a lovely soft bed, the pool is being refurbed and looks great. The breakfast was excellent. We liked the in-house shop for all the things you might have forgotten (including handbag and shoes!) and the honesty box. Plenty of parking in the private carpark. We only stayed one night but would happily go back.

The hotel was located in a quiet road, not too far from both Shanklin Old Village and Shanklin seafront (Via footpath or lift) The property has a pleasant appearance from the outside and a clean reception lounge with a great selection of holiday essentials, including an honesty payment system for a good selection of snacks and drinks, a nice little touch . The infra red sauna room was a nice facility, although not used myself, I am told that it was a nice experience and well maintained. The breakfasts were great, with a good choice of cooked breakfasts, all freshly cooked to order, good selection of teas, coffees and juices along with pastries and cereals, all served in a clean and bright dining room. All in all, the facilities were good, but the bedroom furniture could do with updating or refreshing.

The lack of cleaning and changes of towels/bedding during the stay was a little disappointing for a 4 star rated hotel. Pool area was not as inviting as it could be and at the time of our stay the pool had debris in the bottom, and the area around the pool looked a little tired. The "Deluxe" room, was fairly small, but generally clean with most of the facilities you would need, such as Iron, tea making facilities etc. There was a lack of bedside power sockets, something that I would expect in this age of mobile phones and their charging requirements. The only issue we encountered during the stay was a very noisy toilet fan that screeched loudly when it came on with the bathroom light, a real annoyance during the night, for ourselves and other residents. Unfortunately, I had an allergic reaction to the detergents used on the bedding and was left with a rash over my arms legs and chest, thankfully this was soon identified and controlled with the help of a local pharmacist, just something to be aware of if you have sensitive skin.
