Lovely hotel, friendly staff and good location. Room was upgraded on arrival which was even better.
Thought there was a gym on site when I booked but that is over the road in the centre. Could have been a mistake on my part though.
It was very good 👍😃😃
Excellent spa
Terrible, uncomfortable mattress. Room door rattled and all conversations outside the door could be heard.
A beautiful building in a very central location. We had a room with a jacuzzi bath which was fabulous. The furnishings are very tasteful and the food is very good.
Nothing.
Good location, very clean
Bar doesn't stay open to the hours advertised.
beautiful building great location helpful staff
The staff were lovely and it was very clean
No coffee machine in bedroom only sachets of bland coffee
Location was great! Staff were lovely. They upgraded my room to an executive suite which was great after a long day travelling
The bathroom was a little dirty and bath needed a rinse prior to using, and the shower leaked. Breakfast service was a little slow
Staff super friendly and helpful .really nice atmosphere throughout the hotel .bed super comfy had a very good sleep .spa was 10 out of 10 one of the best I've been to
Ice bath was broken on the day we went but wonderful staff quickly sorted it out with me
The room was nice
Breakfast choice was limited

Great location and lovely room and facilities with great service
Staff are amazing. Downstairs area and dining is gorgeous. Room we stayed in (standard double) needs an upgrade
Noise
Exceeded expectations and a bargain for what it was. Cosy double room was much larger than expected, beautifully decorated and clean with excellent tea and coffee making facilities. Staff were friendly and went above and beyond to help us. Very comfy bed and a delicious breakfast which included haggis.

Central , clean and amazing decor

Spa
Twilight menu dissappointing. The two course menu presented at the Hotel, was not the full menu in the Restaurant. Better not ticking anything in list and just going for the full menu.
The location
The first room we were given for our 2 night stay was tiny. but wonderful Anthony arranged a move to a much, much better room. Thank you Anthony.
Location
All great
We were upgraded to the copper room & the decor is absolutely stunning, next day we went to the spa and what a place this is. 100% first class & so relaxing
Good enough room, nice location
Perfect location for town centre. Ample car parking.
Bar closed at 10.30pm.
Very friendly staff Reception and common areas beautiful
Breakfast was fairly blah.
everything went well
no problems
The Oak bar restaurant was great. Young friendly staff. Room very comfortable and clean but rest of experience not good.
Booking call it hotel and spa. Not true. A hotel with a spa that costs £120 for a couple to access for 2 hours. Restaurant not available to normal guests, only bus tours and fawlty towers management.
Very helpful and welcoming staff, lovely supper and delicious breakfast. Comfortable room and bathroom wity plenty of hot water.
The carpet in the room looked like it hadn’t been hoovered but the rest of the room was fine. Hearing the fan outside the window all evening was a little distracting but necessary, I realise, because my room was close to the kitchen.
Great location. Close to the town centre and a good base for investigating the area. Clean and comfortable. Good breakfast that can set you up for the day.
Wifi was very weak and intermittent. Hotel staff said this was being dealt with when I checked out. The younger staff, particularly on reception, were very friendly and helpful. The ‘older’ staff were less welcoming and more austere. I dis feel invisible at times as my greetings as I walked through reception were ignored. Maybe the younger staff need to provide some training for their older colleagues. There was no hotel bar. The opportunity for a relaxing drink in the evening would have been welcome.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, rooms were clean, beds were comfy. Food and service at the onsite restaurant was very good.
Location in town centre excellent
Our room was very dated for the price we paid
New trainee booked me in, she was exceptional. Even rang the rom to make sure I was happy.
Breakfast was ok but the room was a bit dated.
Friendly staff. Great breakfast. Comfortable room.
No free access to leisure facility. £60 each for 2 hours in swimming pool too expensive.
Easy parking for our motor bikes, convenient to town centre. Large room / shower. Excellent menu choice.
Nil
Staff changed room as it was too far and too many stairs without any problem whilst wevwete in the spa taking our belongings First class treatment from start to finish
Nothing
Close to city
I thought the extra cost for the spa use was extortionate. £600 per person for 2 hours is too much
Food - excellent
No air conditioning. Too expensive
The spa was fabulous and relaxing
The room we had was very dated
The spa and the wonderful staff
Bed was bit hard for me.
Location excellent, short walk in to town centre for local bars/restaurants. Breakfast was very good buffet. With plenty of choice hot and cold options. Room laid out well. Comfy beds. Staff very friendly from front of house to Breakfast. Car park on site a bonus.
Comfortable bed in a pleasant bedroom. The hotel has been renovated to a high standard recently. The staff were very friendly and worked hard to make our stay the best they could make it.
The bar was closed at 10 pm on the night of our visit so we had to walk into town for a drink after a meal even though we were told the bar closes at 11pm.
The staff are exceptional and very helpful
There was nothing we did not like
Very clean, staff all very pleasant and helpful both at reception and at breakfast time. Breakfast good.
Nothing.
Replace shower over bath with walk in shower. No handrails to assist with entry or exit. Had to use heated towel rail which would have been hazardous if hot
We had a lovely stay and everything was amazing from start to finish. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and we were pleasantly surprised when we were upgraded to a better room, which was a really thoughtful gesture and made our stay even more enjoyable. The hotel had a lovely atmosphere, and overall we had a fantastic experience.
There were only two minor issues. The beds were a little too firm for our liking, and the rooms became quite warm, especially during the hot weather. It would be great if fans could be provided in the rooms during warmer periods to make guests more comfortable.
The staff were exceptional from the receptionist to the lady cleaning the room. Manager must be doing a great job
Bit of a hard bed
The welcome. The gentleman at the reception was very kind. The perfect breakfast and also the restaurant
The TV that didn't work
Very nice hotel, lovely food and a well stocked bar, Staff were very nice.
Creaky floorboards in our room, Plus I got charged £3 for parking ?
Staff were young and friendly, being actively overseen by managers. A small Issue that was raised to staff was dealt with by management. Nice to see! Good job! Hotel bar and restaurant were very comfortable and nicely presented. Restaurant food was of good quality, if a little uninspired. Great selection of local Spirits at bar.
Rooms were small and a bit dated. Lift broken, not informed of fact, were with elderly guest with walking aid and the spiral stairs not great with hand rail being on narrow step side!
Staff were very friendly and helpful
Room was a little outdated for the price, shower wasnt properly cleaned on arrival. The whole hotel was soo hot, granted its summer but no good air-conditioning. Getting ready for a wedding was horrific in the heat, the wedding being held in the ball room was the same, had to open fire exit doors to get some air
Having to pay 50 pounds each to use a swimming pool for two hours is nothing short of pick pocketing .
Very grand entrance to the property then it went downhill
Room was very small and looked like it was stuck in the 80’s, for the hotel to be so grand ant the rooms to be so poorly dated was such a big disappointment. The small TV wouldn’t even connect to the WiFi which it should have room so hot and no fan available. No safe in room another disappointing item not to have. Curtains wouldn’t close properly the rail was so dry and rusty looking they would not move easily and when you pulled them the whole curtains moved so impossible to close properly.
Good
Good central position.
Our suite was the furthered away from reception. The reception guy waited until we had lifted our bags and were half way up the stairs before asking if we needed a hand! In bathrooms it was a whisky & water body wash and lotion which is horrible - why would you want to smell of whisky!!
Good location
Big, cold, run down in places
The car park had ample parking space, the breakfast was lovely, I liked a physical key and a bell to let you in if you were late out. Tea/coffee/biscuits and hot chocolate in the room. Cotton wool, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion. Lovely towels, and iron and ironing board, hair dryer and trouser press in the room.
The curtains didn’t close properly, letting light into the room in the morning. There was a stain on the cushion and hairs on the pillows. The entrance and corridors were modern but the room was a little dated.
dinner was very good.
Very friendly and helpful staff
Public areas were very well presented
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The bed/pillows were so comfy!
Our room was a little run down/out of style for my liking, however I understand the hotel is going through renovation at the moment. We were on the first floor and could hear someone walking about in the room above us. The floor must be thin as it was very loud and eventually stopped. We had to leave early due to an issue at home, had we stayed longer it would have been difficult to listen to that (especially when trying to sleep)
The staff are very friendly, the hotel is lovely. The room was spacious. The waiting staff in the restaurant downstairs are very attentive and the food is delicious.
The only negative was the bed was very hard and uncomfortable, in my opinion.
Nice location and good parking
Very dated and needs refurbished
The staff and breakfast were good and the bedroom a good size
The heating in the room couldn’t be adjusted and was way too hot and you couldn’t open the window as the sound of plant machinery was whirring all night.
Location was brilliant
Room a little run down
Good sized dar park, tasty food, room came with a bath, staff in restaurant were very friendly.
Location
Room was cold. Hot water took ages to come through. Noisy fan or something kept us awake.
Everything
Nothing
Nothing
The room size - very small The decor - state of disrepair The reception
Comfortable Old style hotel with everything needed. Also a bath which was very welcome Nice restaurant albeit a bit expensive.
Nothing although fridge would have been useful in the room
The hotel was superb and the staff were great and the spa first class
The food was ok but a little disappointing compared to the rest of the experience
Good breakfast
Just I’ve had better but still good
Good stop off travelling to highlands.
We had a dog room and felt it was a little tired and carpet very stained, maybe other rooms better.
everything
nothing
Central location, public rooms all very clean and modern. We were upgraded to a larger room even before we had asked.
Room smelt of stale cigarette smoke. This was passed on at check out but felt it was dismissed. Booked this hotel mainly due to it having the pool. Only after booking are you informed that use of the pool is not included and costs an additional £50 per person for 2 hours!!!!!!! I don’t expect use of treatments/ spa etc but any other hotel I’ve stayed in residents use the pool as free of charge part of their stay.
Booked a small cosy room but got a big queen size room. Best coffee I’ve ever had in a hotel bedroom
Nothing
Restaurant
The lift wasn't working when we arrived, and due to a physical health issue, we asked for a walk in shower ,and the alternative of the inoperative lift we had to struggle up 2 floors with luggage. The room was a shoebox, and I need of complete renovation .The hot water tap was dangerous and needed urgent attention
Lovely hotel not too " modernised " friendly and helpfull staff
asked for a walk in shower, but shower not totally safe to use. Floor very slippery no mat and no grab rail
The outside
Everything inside it
It’s central location and bar/restaurant facilities.
The bedrooms and bathrooms were considerably outdated. We had to bring a few matters to the attention of reception and we were given another room. For the price of the stay I don’t believe it was good value for money.
Great.
It was very clean and tidy. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was great.
Clean and tidy , spa , breakfast , staff were friendly
Moved to a smaller room with no tv above the bath , beds were not very comfy , too hard , menu in restaurant wasn’t great
Location. First impression as this had been modernised.
Totally overpriced for the experience and quality we had. The hotel rooms and amenities and breakfast were average. Modernisation was not consistent.
Dinner was good only choice one restaurant
Not told that one restaurant could use so limited to same menu both nights not a big choice . Was a jazz weekend on at hotel that if had known would not have booked, plus £100 to use spa facilities not worth the money and the room was old beds not comfy definitely needs new quilts bath robes hard and dingy and heating not good
Friendly staff, dog friendly and in heart of town. Main parts of hotel were decent and to a good standard
For what we got it was very expensive. A small double which was probably 2-3star quality, old windows and just didn't feel very high spec for the price. Entrance from car park felt you were heading past the bins and in the back door. Not very special.
Staff were very friendly
Room decor was a bit dated
Traditional hotel - lovely rooms. Excellent breakfast. Helpful, friendly staff.
My mum and I stayed here from January 23rd – 26th, 2026, for a much-needed girls' getaway. As Scotland’s first and only independent spa to achieve the prestigious Five Bubble Luxury rating, my expectations were high. As someone who visits a lot of spas and values wellness rituals, I can say this was an exceptional experience! Lovely Bubbly Parts Incredible Service & Staff: The staff were the absolute highlight of our trip. Unlike most spas that just give you a towel and point to the door, we were given a detailed, personal tour. It was so helpful to know the benefits of each room and how warm they get—perfect for first-timers or anyone wanting to maximize their visit. The New OAK Restaurant: On Saturday evening, we tried the brand-new OAK restaurant. It’s beautifully themed with plants, wood accents, and a warm log burner that creates a cosy, homely feel. The food was delicious, the prices were reasonable, and the staff were once again incredibly helpful with recommendations. Special Afternoon Tea: We had our tea in the spa café in a quiet, calm setting—all while wearing our robes! They have amazing tea menus where you can actually open and smell the leaves before choosing. We upgraded to the Champagne Afternoon Tea for £46 per person, which was a lovely treat. A Personal Touch: We even met the Director, Matthew, as we were leaving the spa. He was so friendly and down-to-earth; when he asked how our stay was, my only reply was: "Can I move in?!" The Award-Winning Spa (£50pp for 2 hours): Totally worth it. The water beds in the quiet area were a dream for a quick nap, and the infrared sauna was my absolute favourite. Top-Tier Changing Rooms: The changing rooms (near the spa café) are fantastic. They feature the best power shower I have ever had, plus top-of-the-range GHD hairdryers and straighteners. The "Wow" Room Upgrade: We were upgraded to a Family Suite, which was huge!
(sorry, but honest) Hydration Costs: There is no water fountain in the spa. You have to purchase bottled water at the bar for £3.25, which adds up when you're rehydrating after the sauna. Room Location: Our suite was right next to the lift and the maids' towel room, so we heard some noise during the night and early mornings. Out of Order Facilities: The ice plunge pool was down for maintenance during our stay, which was a shame as we were keen to try it. Basic Breakfast: The food was hot and filling, but the variety was a bit limited—likely because it was a quiet period. The Verdict: The staff were the #1 highlight, followed closely by the incredible spa and the new OAK restaurant. Even with the hotel undergoing a fantastic renovation, the experience was wonderful. We’ll definitely be back—and we'll be taking the bus again!
That my daughter and I couldn’t use the pool. The beds were too hard. The stay was not value for money.
the staff.
the room was very dated, cracked celing that was loose,, 2 single beds pushed together ,, breakfast was very poor, small choose, awfull tea, for the price i payed i expected alot more, its just a very run down hotel what a horrible experiance. its a shame when travel lodges rooms are 100% cleaner and up to date.
