Nice hosts. Everything was very comfortable, bathrooms nice and roomy!

Das historische Gebäude besticht mit besonderem Flair. Wir haben und wie zuhause gefühlt. Vielen Dank auch an die beiden Gastgeber, die all unsere Wünsche erfüllt haben. Das leckere Frühstück war ein guter Start in den Tag.

Wir hatten relativ viel Gepäck dabei. Das Zimmer hätte für uns etwas größer sein können. Aber für eine Nacht ging es dann doch.

The place was in a great location. The rooms were cosy and very clean. Terry and the gang looked after our group of 7 golfers. Always handy for anything we needed. Superb breakfasts delivered in a very organised manner.

Staff are exceptional, very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and breakfast good.

Bed was a bit soft and Dumfries town centre looking a bit run down.

Very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful owners. Room was spacious with an even more spacious bathroom. Everything was clean.

Bed was too soft. We could smell the breakfast cooking in our room. But this are on a very high level.

Location was easy to find and was convenient to the town centre.

Everything about the accommodation was perfect.

The room was snug and comfortable. Warm and welcoming. Quiet with a full bay window aspect. It was fully equipped with everything you could need with one exception , a bedside lamp. No biggy. The breakfast was delicious. Well presented and wonderfully cooked. The selection on offer quite remarkable for the price. Very good value. Attentive waiting staff made the breakfast service look effortless. A really hearty and satisfying start to the day. Over all a very comfortable nights stay.

Not a lot. A bedside lamp may help and a touch more water pressure would be nice.

Sehr freundliche Terry und Lynn sind sehr freundliche Gastgeber. Wir haben gute Tipps für die Stadt und Ausflüge erhalten. Das Frühstück kann gewählt werden, dann wird es frisch zubereitet. Alle Zutaten sind frisch und lecker. Das Bett war, wie wir es uns wünschten, riesig und bequem. Das Bad war gross und alles war sauber. Die Motorräder konnten direkt vor dem Haus parkiert werden. Wir kommen gerne wieder

Lovely townhouse. We had a very comfortable, spacious room. With all the amenities wifi, tea & coffee. Bathroom with sjouwer. A ten minute walk to the centre of town. Quiet surroundings.

Great hotel, clean room with comfortable beds. Relaxing lounge bar area and range of breakfast options. Helpful hosts who had thought of everything you might need including charging golf batteries. Easy to find and good value. We will definitely stay again.

The owners were very friendly and accommodating. Lovely pot of tea on arrival. Comfy room and tasty breakfast.

Terry and Lynn were lovely, so helpful and friendly, and spoke to all of the guests, always taking an interest in their visit to the area and what they were doing. The breakfast was always freshly made, and there was a variety to suit all tastes. The room was clean, well played out and the facilities excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel, especially to be looked after by such wonderful hosts. Keep up the great work Terry and Lynn, your level of service and kindness is unique.

Beautiful, well maintained and well run hotel with first class breakfast and friendly and helpful management & staff.

We liked Dumfries and found a couple of good places to eat, but the city is obviously going through rather hard times at present. Even the 'Tourist Information' is permanently closed. Dumfries is still very much worth a visit, however!

From the warm, friendly welcome to the delicious breakfast, this hotel felt like home from home. Beautifully decorated bedroom and large bathroom, and a super comfy bed. I slept like a log! Dark and quiet overnight. Perfect. Lots of parking, nice relaxing lounge bar for a nightcap, and Terry looked after us really well. Highly recommend and we would definitely stay here again if we’re passing.

Loved the room. Very clean, comfortable. Lovely breakfast room too with everything from cereals to cooked full breakfast. Lynn & Terry are very friendly & work hard to ensure standards are high.

Never understand why lots of Hotels don’t give you a separate towel for we ladies to dry our hair. Hate using bath towel or a hand towel. Never enough toilet rolls or coffee & milk. You could always request these so I’m being picky.

Close to town and easy to find

We are older and walk with canes and no elevator. But we knee it ahead of time and being a 1864 victorian home we enjoyed jst being there. The innkeepers were very gracious and carried our bags up and down.

We received a warm welcome when we arrived. Hotel exactly fitted our requirements. Clean good size room and shower room and a lovely breakfast. Thank you 😊

We loved meeting Terry and Lynn. They were excellent hosts - very knowledgeable about the area and other places to visit on our travels. They were attentive and friendly. The location is great - we hopped off the train and were right there! The Hill House is walking distance to town and also very close to the residential areas for a nice evening stroll. We had a yummy breakfast each morning and we felt like family. Super nice experience.

We had a tough time with the shower - it was either super hot or very cold unless the “Eco” mode was used snd then the pressure was low. The toilets need to be flushed several times. We understood that these facilities had been upgraded for environmental sustainability.

The owners were very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and tidy, the bed lovely and comfortable. We had breakfast in the morning which was very tasty and drinks in the well stocked bar in the evening. Would of liked to stay longer.

Es war sehr familiär und gemütlich. Der Besitzer ist sehr bemüht, alle Wünsche zu erfüllen. Zum Frühstück hatte man eine gute Auswahl. Wenn etwas unklar war, konnte man fragen und bekam eine sehr freundliche Antwort.

Everything was to our liking. Comfortable hotel. Lovely staff. Very welcoming, friendly and obliging.

There were many thoughtful touches in this hotel, for example a mirror placed between sockets that was perfect for hairdryer use. Bathrobes. Full length mirror excellent for guests dressing for special occasions.

Just a small point but didn’t like the position of the smoke (or other alarm) in the ceiling which was within our line of vision when in bed . Its sensor light flashed red every few seconds and kept one of us awake periodically during the night.

The friendly welcome and great location. Breakfast and rooms where beautiful. The kind owners assisted by providing a take away breakfast as we had to leave early due to a family emergency.

We had the most amazing stay at The Hill Hotel! Terry and Lynne were wonderful hosts - so very welcoming and helpful!! Breakfast was delicious. And the location was perfect…so close to the train station.

I’ve stayed here 3 times now and would not go anywhere else in Dumfries, I travel all over Scotland with work and this is 1 of the best hotels we have stayed in.

Lovely traditional hotel. Very clean and quiet location. The weather was particularly hot but a fan was provided in the room which was perfect. Staff are very friendly and keen to do anything for you. Excellent walking access into Dumfries. Plenty of parking on site.

Our room was quite small with twin beds i wasn't expecting. The bathroom was fine but the shower over the bath flooded the floor each time as couldn't adjust the shower head to point downwards to avoid this.

A lovely small hotel run by a really friendly and helpful team. It was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. We would definitely stay again.

Perfect location ! Quiet but near the town centre. On site free parking. We were greeted with a warm friendly welcome on arrival, Terry & Lynne genuinely want all guests to feel comfortable and enjoy their stay. (King sized room) Lovely clean rooms, especially liked the dressing area between the bedroom and bathroom. Plenty of storage space. Bed was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. The room is well equipped with TV, hairdryer, extra blankets a fan, tea & coffee etc. Bathroom was spotless and had little added extras, robes and toiletries. Breakfast was delicious. Haggis was my favourite! I think these ones were caught, fresh daily… in a net of course as it’s summertime. The owners and staff were more than happy to help at anytime. We managed to find the secret beach that was recommended to us and had a fantastic day there, even went for a swim! Thank you so much for a wonderful memorable stay. We hope to stay again soon :)

The bedroom and ensure were perfect, breakfasts delicious and varied. Both Lynne and Terry were wonderful hosts, with plenty of good tips about scenic routes and places to see.

On arrival we were shown our room by Lynne our host, the room was very nice and there was a super kingsize bed, there were complementary toiletries in the bathroom which was great and tea and coffee making facilities in room (a nice touch was some lovely biscuits). We had a couple of drinks in the bar area which was well stocked, Terry was a lovely host at the bar and also at breakfast the following morning. Our breakfast was lovely and good of selection of fruit, cereals and condiments. Overall a fantastic stay at a lovely hotel.

Not a fan of UHT milk catering cartons, would have been lovely to have a mini fridge with some fresh milk for guests. But that is a personal choice for us.

Terry und Lynne sind extrem freundliche Gastgeber, die einem mit Rat und Tat zur Seite stehen. Das Frühstück ist sehr lecker. Die Zimmer sind sehr gut durchdacht eingerichtet und stets akkurat sauber. Das Bad ist geräumig mit einer modernen Dusche. Zum Bahnhof + dortiger Bushaltestelle läuft man 5 Minuten. Ins Stadtzentrum ist man 20 Minuten unterwegs und findet dort verschiedene Möglichkeiten, gut zu essen.

I really enjoyed my visit to The Hill Hotel. I had problems on the journey and arrived late and Jerry made me feel welcome from arriving to leaving. I would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel. Thanks for all the help from Christine.

Amazing Hotel.You are made to feel so welcome from the minute you walk through the door. The room was spacious and clean.Bed was comfortable and the breakfast exceptional.This is a 10/10 facility. I highly.reccomend the Hill Hotel
