We went to the bar and asked to be seated for a drink. We were asked if we would also like to eat. We said yes but first we would like a drink. Bar manager was very rude and arrogant. We were told that all the empty tables in the bar were reserved, even though there were no signs on them. We were eventually offered a seat on a couch in the middle of the eating area. We ordered a drink and sat there for 45 minutes and got up and left in disgust as the tables in the bar were still empty. We went to our room and ordered room service. The next day we went out for drinks and dinner and had a wonderful time.

I chose Hotel Splendide Royal specifically because it is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, and unfortunately the experience was far below what I expected from a hotel carrying this distinction. The accommodation and overall service did not reflect the standard I associate with this category of hotel. Basic bathroom amenities were incomplete. After I raised the issue, only a toothbrush and a bar of soap were provided; there was no bath sponge and the shaving kit was still not supplied. I also reported the very unpleasant quality and smell of the liquid soap and the poor quality of the shampoo. Unfortunately, I felt that some staff members were displeased by my comments rather than genuinely interested in addressing them. The food and restaurant experience was also disappointing and below the level I expected. I raised these issues with the hotel during my stay, but they were not properly resolved. What disappointed me most was the considerable gap between the standards I expected from a Leading Hotels of the World property and the experience I actually received.

Second time at the hotel already tells something! Strategic location for our purposes. Nice installations and decoration. All staff helpful. Remark on breakfast, with small option of fruits on self service buffet.

The location was excellent, and the view from our room was beautiful. We enjoyed the wonderful scenery of Lake Lugano every morning and evening. In addition, we appreciated the warm hospitality of the hotel staff, including restaurant and valet parking.

The property is in an excellent, walkable location. We were very diligent about our pre arrival instructions, which turned out to be pointless. Our boat confirmation was missed, and we weren’t able to check in until after 3pm, despite us confirming arrival times for 2 rooms, etc. Be wary of their shuffling to terrible restaurants. I had asked multiple times for suggestions on waterfront options, to which we were given terrible options. It all felt very shifty… You were not allowed to eat in pool area , so we had to keep our food 20 steps away from our chair…😵‍💫 Housekeeping didn’t come until 5pm one night… Just be wary, not a 5 ⭐️, def a 4 ⭐️

Quand on s’appelle Royal Splendide il faut assurer. Et c’est le cas. L’accueil est royal de la prise en charge de l’auto à la très aimable et professionnelle réceptionniste . La chambre était superbe dans son style d’époque. Le petit déjeuner parfait avec un personnel aux petits soins. La zone piscine spa est très agréable. Nous avons adoré notre séjour.

Le wifi plutot mauvais et tres lent. Perso ça m’est égal mais j’imagine les dépressions des adolescents. Les prix au restaurant un peu salés. Mais les pizzas sont extras !

Good location and nice lobby and dining areas

I had mold growing in my shower, which I let the front desk know about. Honestly, they didn’t seem to care. Furnishings are worn and dated and walls scuffed and run down looking. “Garden View” is a tree and embankment with city street. Very overpriced for what it was.

De locatie was perfect, goede uitvalsbasis voor het maken van wandelingen. Dicht bij de gondel, gezellig klein centrum op loopafstand.

Het licht in het toilet. Dat werkt op een sensor met als gevolg dat je ‘s nachts meteen wakker bent als je naar het toilet moet. Dit vonden wij niet fijn.

Place was amazing and great service! The concierges were great! Very helpful and accommodating ! The spa was amazing.amd both Sophia's that work there gave fantastic massages ! Lisa the spa supervisor was great and very accommodating . It was a great experience . If staying here I would Book or ask for the newer wing. We had a wonderful time and the comcierge's and sap were amazing ! Also Antonia at the Pizarro was a server and he was so nice and made it pleasant . The only negative is the sercice at the pizza place besides Antonio! Greet hotel With great spa !

Came here for 3 nights on a family vacation through northern Italy. The Hotel is beautiful, but rooms might need a refresh. The pool area and Spa were great and very upscale (I would only critique that pool/spa attendant help set up the beds, not just hand you a towel, also they don’t clear up towels once someone leaves which was quite odd). The drinks at pool area are good, but once again you have to go to the bar as no one would come up to you and take the order or see if you need anything (maybe it’s just a cultural thing, but for a 5 star hotel I would expect it). The breakfast was absolutely delicious and food quality was excellent along with the staff.

The property is beautiful!

Extremely friendly and welcoming staff. Hotel is very clean, has a great location and the renovated rooms are very tastefully done. We felt welcome from the time we drove up. Very nice breakfast buffet and the terrace restaurant was great for a light lunch. The sundeck up above the pool has great views and was quiet and relaxing.

Two nights in July in a lake-view room. The setting is the reason to come and it delivers completely — a classic lakeside grand hotel with a view that justifies the choice on its own. Breakfast is a genuine highlight: excellent variety, well presented, and champagne offered. The staff are kind throughout — reception, breakfast service and the valet team alike, and that consistency counts for a lot. Two criticisms. The building is showing its age, the reception area most visibly. It would benefit from a careful refurbishment — done properly, it could be brought up to date without losing the heritage character that gives the hotel its charm. That character is worth protecting. The second is a service lapse. At check-in the receptionist went through every request we had made in advance and confirmed each had been met, specifically twin beds in place of a king. We reached the room and found a king. When I raised it, the elderly porter who had brought our luggage came up and made a laboured attempt to separate the bed himself, then told us housekeeping would reset it the following day — apparently there is no housekeeping on the night shift. At this level, a confirmed request should be right before the guest opens the door, and fixable the same evening when it isn't. None of that changed our overall impression. I would recommend the Splendide Royal to anyone visiting Lugano, particularly in a lake-view room

Perfection … Everybody is Super super super Nice ,the word helpfull is not enough to describe how wonderfull everybody was . From the moment You arrive , everything is taken care of. We cannot explain in Words how perfect this Vacation was for us . You feel like a Royal ! They have the most wonderfull Clean rooms. From Breakfast till Dinner ,Everything is delicious . My Son was treated like a real king . They did everything to make our days feel like careless. The nicest people we’ve ever met .. This was not just a Vacation for us , it felt like coming home . Grazie 1000 per tutto .

We were greeted very warmly at the front desk. The hotel has a great location- close the the town centre on one side and the Paradiso train station and Funicular on the other side. Cleanliness 5/5. The suite had an amazing view of the lake and mountains, was very spacious with separate small living room and ample closet space. Breakfast was great with lots of variety - buffet and à la carte. All the staff is very friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Mr. Riccardo Mangialavori, who was extra helpful in forwarding me something I forgot in the room , and also to Ms. Daniela with whom we had a pleasant interesting conversation. I would definitely highly recommend staying at the Splendide.

Wir haben das Hotel reserviert und es wurde eingegeben, dass wir einen kleinen Hund haben. Wir dürften aber nicht zum Frühstück mit dem Hund gehen und mussten dann slles selbst vom Buffet holen und im Holl essen, wo alle die Leute permanent kamen ung gingen… es ist inakzeptabel! Wenn man schon mit einem klenen Hund kommen darf und ein Zimmer mit dem Frühstuck bucht, muss es auch erlaubt sein mit dem Hund frühstücken! Wir sind überall mit dem Hund gewesen und war nocht nie ein Problem!

Wonderful hotel, friendly staff, pool, sun terrace and great location. If you arrive by car, the hotel staff will park it in the parking lot. Great view of the lake from the terrace bar.

It was a great experience. The service at the front desk and at breakfast was so good. People were attentive, and I loved the art on the walls! The hotel is also in a central location. I am very pleased with my experience.

This is a beautiful 5 star hotel, right near the heart of Lugano. The charming staff are welcoming and it feels like you are in an oasis from the hustle and bustle. we went to a swimming area right across the street and loved swimming in Lake Lugano. Lugano is a hidden gem, must easier than Como! try it out.
