Air conditioning didn't work, and although I had stupidly booked two nights instead of one, there was no sort of sympathy or goodwill, inspite of the air conditioning not working

Struttura vecchia e poco curata

Indubbiamente la posizione è ottima: l'hotel è nella zona centrale della città, a pochi passi dalla Cattedrale e dalle vie principali. Una posizione centrale anche per visitare le spiagge dello sbarco.

Abbiamo scelto la camera king. La stanza era stretta e lunga (tipo container) abbiamo trovato un letto scomodissimo avendo il materasso in cui si sprofondata, e i piedini del letto ballavano...wc inserito in una nicchia stretta...doccia e lavandino comodi. Pulizia camera, a mio avviso, scadente. Avevamo la pulizia giornaliera ma al rientro dopo una giornata di escursioni, abbiamo trovato solo i cestini svuotati e il resto come lo avevamo lasciato. Abbiamo dovuto chiedere alla reception gli asciugamani puliti e ci siamo rifatti il letto. Colazione discreta, ma anche qui, la pulizia ci ha deluso... Prezzo esagerato per servizio, struttura e pulizia.

Only 4 car spaces available that are booked in advance, breakfast for us wasn't worth the price. We had a do not disturb sign on the room as we were only leaving to get breakfast when we returned shortly after there was a toolbox & tools on the bed and the door was open after talking to the manager she asked could we wait to go into the room until they were finished changing a towel rack.

Excellent location! Room was very comfortable including great air conditioning, bed and layout. Very clean. Daily maid service. Staff were very friendly.

Breakfast was okay but there could be more fresh fruit and cheeses and meats. Information about reserving parking can be improved. Parking around hotel is a very tight and minimal. The web site said that hotel had parking. But I had to use public parking for the first two of three nights because I needed to reserve and pay for a space.

Family run hotel, polite staff, we paid for the parking, there were 5 spots but they were mostly empty. Rooms were ok, comfy beds, but the linen was worn with some small holes. Nice and quiet in the evenings. Great location. Perfect for exploring Bayeux. Breakfast was ok, a little different, but being from the UK, we missed the cooked breakfast, but there was scrambled eggs and bacon. Croissant, flans , cake, yoghurt, cereal and fresh fruit (tinned) .coffee was good. Would I return, probably , location was the winner .

Location was great with all attractions within walking distance. Room was well presented . Staff were very kind and helpful in general.

Breakfast was disappointing.Cooked eggs were disgusting! Inedible! The dining room was self service which proved very difficult for me having to use crutches due to my disability. The whole experience was very disappointing. I paid for a reserved parking space but due to limited spaces in a confined space,this was a problem and I had to park in the street.More disappointing,I wasn't offered a refund.

This hotel needs a complete renovation. But short of that, buy some lighting! Buy some quality linens and towels. Buy quality furnishings for your rooms. Make the reception area welcoming and bright. Simple changes can be done right away. I don’t know who was lucky enough to get the rooms and bathrooms pictured but it was not me! This hotel could be so lovely with a little effort. You can’t beat the location but I will admit that I wish I could have stayed in the many other hotels I walked by in Bayeux. Stay here if you have no other choice, as we found ourselves with the coming up of the anniversary of D-day.

Location was excellent for access to restaurants and museums. Staff permitted us to use empty tables in the empty breakfast room to play cards in the evening.

Our rooms were not ready at time of check-in and we had to wait. Hotel wanted us to leave our room key hanging on an accessible board at reception each time we left the hotel during the day.

Great location only a few minutes walk to cathedral and restaurants/shops. Very budget type place but fine. Clean, great maid service. Breakfast area looked good though we did not use it. Staff very friendly and helpful. For some reason, maybe just the heat wave, our room seemed very damp with a funny smell, but not a deal breaker. But enough to reduce 1 owl.

Location was the saving grace of this hotel. Super easy walking distance to all shops, restaurants, tour pick up and drop off location and walk to train station also. Unfortunately, for us, this is the only positive. We are an Australian couple who were booked in for four nights so we could do our tours and learn more about the region. The hotel is rated a 3 star, but personally I don’t know how it got that. We are on a long trip and have stayed in many many hotels and this is the first one that disappointed us. It honestly felt like being a guest was an inconvenience. One staff member actually acknowledged us, others may have looked, but never smiled or say bonjour etc. very unusual. The room and hotel clearly needs an update and maintenance. Our room was small, which isn’t a problem, but was SO basic. The TV was the size of a computer monitor, remote didn’t work and when we opened the back, the batteries were corroded. We asked reception for batteries etc, and was told he requested them a couple of days ago but hadn’t heard anything! When we showered, the floor flooded as the water went toward the sink / entrance to shower end, not enough toward the drain. Breakfast was to be served from 7:30 each day. There was a sign saying if you have a tour and need an early breakfast please advise / go to reception. We did that, and when we advised we had an 8am tour and had to walk 10-15min, could we have an early start, were told, breakfast isn’t until 7:30! I pointed out the sign that was in format of him, and he sighed and said well is it only two people, ok 7:15 I will leave a message. Next morning, breakfast only partly out, staff had no idea and hot food not done. The following day we didn’t have a tour so went down during breakfast time. The area was messy, tables not cleaned away, items weren’t re stocked and there wasn’t a cover or cloth or anything to cut bread, everyone just touched and held the bread. Not hygenic at all. No signs to say what anything was, and food very very basic. Eggs were grey in Color and we will go with unusual. No staff member ever approached us in four days. (For room number etc) or said a word. I truly think this could be a lovely hotel, but wow it needs some systems in place and friendly staff. There were other things, but this probably gives a clear idea of how things went for us.

Room tired and in need of a refresh. There was a sewage smell in the room, the bed sheets had hair on the sheets ( not ours). There was no sound proofing you could hear every toilet flushed, people talking and snoring and every shower or tap run. For €178 per night this was a long way from value for money.

Room lacked wash cloths, bed pillows too small and hard, bedroom window closing and toilet flush handle both with difficulty, front desk staff adequate but barely friendly at all.

The Manager. Let me explain. The first morning of our 4-night stay, my wife took a shower, and I went to the dining room to get coffee for us. When I returned, my wife was cleaning up water that had flooded about half the room due to the shower being clogged. I started cleaning too. We found an employee, who was the hotel manager, to help. A few items of clothes and the bottom of my backpack were wet. Also, I was not able to shower since we needed to leave on a tour. After we got back from our tour, I asked the front desk clerk if we would receive some compensation due to the water problem in our room that morning. He got on the phone with the hotel manager, and they offered to provide breakfast for both of us the next 3 mornings (90 Euro value). I accepted that compensation. However, when we got back from dinner later that night, both the front desk clerk and the hotel manager were in the hotel lobby. The clerk said they would NOT provide breakfast as they promised a few hours earlier. When I asked why, the hotel manager started yelling at us. His behavior was uncalled for and very disrespectful. And he frightened my wife! This was a very unpleasant experience for us. We were inconvenienced due to the clogged shower, promised compensation that was later withdrawn & then shouted at by the extremely aggressive and disrespectful hotel manager. I recommend NOT staying at Hotel Bayeux

Hotel liegt zentrumsnah zur fussläufigen Altstadt. Mit Glück kann man einen kostenlosen Parkplatz finden.

We really enjoyed staying here. It’s more like an old inn than a hotel. The service was wonderful, rooms are nice and clean, beds are comfy and the AC is WONDERFUL. My husband warned me that I might be hot in Europe because they don’t really do AC but the Hotel Bayeaux proved him wrong, and for me , proving my husband wrong was just a bonus!!

It’s a ‘real’ French hotel, not some chain that could be anywhere in the world. If you want to feel like you’re really in Bayeux, this is the place. It’s very popular with European travelers.

I really have nothing negative to say. The location was great, it was quiet and the staff was friendly.

Het personeel was ontzettend aardig en behulpzaam. Vanaf het moment van binnenkomst werd ik vriendelijk ontvangen en voelde ik me meteen welkom. Ze namen de tijd om vragen te beantwoorden en dachten echt met me mee. De service was snel, professioneel en met een glimlach. Dat maakte de hele ervaring extra prettig. Zeker een plek waar gastvrijheid hoog in het vaandel staat

Het ontbijt was goed en er was voldoende keuze, maar er is nog ruimte voor verbetering. Met wat meer variatie en verfijning zou het echt naar een hoger niveau getild kunnen worden

The rooms are in need of upgrading, the fixtures, fittings and decoration are a bit tired. There was no kettle in the room and the hot part of the breakfast was usually luke warm and some items weren't replenished when breakfast was busy.

Si tu veux utiliser le parking, tu payes! Le personnel : j’étais seul donc inexistant pour eux! En revanche les groupes d’anglais eux ils ont toute l’attention! Bref pour le prix payé pour une nuit, c’est décevant.

In the toilet area the paint was peeling and there was mold. The holder for the shower head was broken and had not been fixed in a long time. The wall piece was rusting. The breakfast was less than good. The eggs appeared to have been cooked and then refrigerated and warmed up. The pancakes were hard and cold. Everything looked less than appetizing. The windows in the room collected moisture that dripped onto an unstable table. The picture that is used for advertising looked way nicer than the room actually is.

Le petit déjeuner le premier matin. Descendus à 8h 30 un groupe de jeunes avait « liquidé » : pains, croissanterie, charcuterie, œufs brouillés… Plus rien, une razia ! Nous avons bénéficié de Cracottes. Les employés étaient très ennuyés. Le lendemain la direction a proposé de rembourser deux petits-déjeuners. Le même groupe a fait beaucoup de bruits pendant la nuit. Nuit difficile.

The whole point of going to Bayeux is seeing the invasion area. For a solo traveler Hotel Bayeux is a perfect spot. Within walking distance of train station. Very good continental breakfast. Excellent staff, very friendly and helpful.

What a great find. Beautiful family run hotel. Plenty of character. A short walk into town. On road parking easy enough in the quieter months or you can park on site for a few. The family were lovely and very accommodating. Wonderful breakfast. Comfy beds. Rooms that can easily sleep a family or 5-6 people. No complaints. Thank you. This room worked just fine for us, although if you're looking for something a bit more open and newer, this didn't have that vibe. Rooms were okay. A little small, but that's not unusual . Appreciated the number of outlets and ease of locating them in the room. Hallways are narrow. If there was a common sitting area other than a small couch, we missed it. Breakfast was sufficient and well-tended to while dining was underway. Location was okay, although would have preferred to be in the higher "traffic" area (personal preference). Hotel is not far away, from shops and restaurants, but tucked in a little bit quieter area.

Lovely quaint hotel. Perfectly situated between train station and the main part of town. Check in was fast and easy. Check out was fast and easy. Every question and request was handled by the front desk. The breakfast was superb and a friendly bonjour with a smile by Lara is a great way to start the day. No reason to pay more!

Great, friendly, helpufl staff and the breakfast was pretty good. The location is perfect being a 10 minute walk from the train and 5 minutes to the town center. The internet isn't super great, but functional.

Spending time in Normandy and Brittany, we found this hotel to be very conveniently located to the center of Bayeux, offering everything we needed. The staff was especially friendly and the room clean. It was a comfortable and pleasant stay.

Our 4-day stay in Hotel Le Bayeux was absolutely outstanding. The hotel was conveniently located only 10 minutes walking distance from the Bayeux train station. There were several restaurants within a 2 to 3 block area from the hotel, and we only had to walk a couple of blocks to meet our tour guides to the Normandy Beaches and Mont Ste. Michel. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable, and our bathroom was well-appointed with shower, shampoo, towels, and hairdryer. Wi-Fi was provided but make certain you take a European converter to plug in your phone or laptop. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and they spoke English exceptionally well. The hotel serves an outstanding and filling breakfast with scrambled eggs, various meats, fruits, cheeses, and breads. Coffee, tea, and various juices were also available. When we informed the hotel staff, we had to check-out early in the morning to catch our train back to Paris, they graciously prepared warm croissant sandwiches and wrapped them in foil so we could have something to eat on the train. I could not have been happier with our stay, and I highly recommend Hotel Le Bayeux. Comfort, convenience, staff, and food were all 5-star!!!
