PortoBay Falesia

Lage des Hotels, gepflegte Gartenanlage, Zugang zum Strand, ruhiges Ambiente ohne Musikbedröhnung und Animation. Alle Gäste waren sehr ruhig und anständig. Hotelpersonal war sehr gut, schnell und aufmerksam.

Für rund 260 Euro die Nacht inklusive Frühstück ( das sehr gut war) kann man mehr erwarten. Das Zimmer und das Bad waren sehr abgewohnt, Fliesen und Fugen sehr alt und vermutlich nicht mehr gut zu reinigen. Die Betten, respektive die Matratzen waren durchgelegen. Unser Zimmer hatte Blick aus einen hässlichen Parkplatz und zudem war die Dauerbeschallung vom Hotel nebenan zu hören.

Das Personal war immer überaus freundlich und hilfsbereit. Frühstück war top. Auch das Italienische Restaurant war super. Das Angebot an Sportlichen Aktivitäten ist überragend gut.

Das Dinner war geschmacklich nicht so überzeugend und etwas zu teuer für die Qualität. Im Gym könnte es etwas mehr Kraftgeräte geben.

I was looking for a nice place to spend a fantastic holiday in Algarve. Previously we had done Lagos. Now we wanted to explore a place close to Albufeira. Besides the reasonable price, the location of the hotel with access to the beach from 2 angles, is just amazing! The pictures were taken right from the hotel premises, the views are extraordinary! A special thanks to Sandra, Resident Manager, Alexander and Ana from the IL Basilico restaurant and the staff for making us feel like very welcomed and cared for! The food at the restaurant is amazing! We'll be back!!

Location, facilities, food and staff

Situation géographique : Accès direct à la plage de Falésia moyennant pas mal de marches, proximité du centre du charmant village d'Olhos d'Agua. Grande piscine. Salle de sport. Chambres avec terrasses. Demi-pension avec buffets variés. Service très agréable en salle. Parking proposé moyennant 15€/jour, mais beaucoup de places de parking gratuites autour de l'hôtel.

Notre terrasse donnait à l'arrière de l'immeuble (vue parking) Apparemment, il fallait payer d'avantage pour vue mer et piscine… Accès au restaurant buffet comprise dans l'option "demi-pension". Pour l'autre restaurant du resort (il Basilico) avec service à table, il faut rajouter au dessus de 17€/personne.

Die Lage, die Lage, die Lage 😎

Die Lage oberhalb der Klippen ist super schön. Der Ausblick aufs Meer ist immer wieder bezaubernd und gibt einem Urlaubsfeeling. Die Gartenanlage ist sehr gepflegt and großzügig. Dadurch verteilen sich die Leute und man hockt nicht so eng aufeinander. Auch am Pool war es entspannt. Essen war reichhaltig und bot für jeden etwas. Wir haben ein paarmal das Abendessen im Restaurant gewählt, dort muss man rechtzeitig reservieren. Die Zimmer waren sauber und boten genügend Raum und Flächen für alle Kleidung und Badutensilien. Die Abendunterhaltung endete pünktlich um 23:00, sodass man nicht durch Musik gestört wurde. Ruhige Lage.

Zuwenig Parkplätze am Hotel. Die Badetücher werden durch den Zimmerservice gewechselt, allerdings oft erst Mittags oder gar nicht. Wenn man nachfragt, bekommt man aber welche. Es gibt keine zum Hotel gehörenden Liegen unten am Strand, die kosten 20€ pro Tag extra (für 2 Liegen und einen Schirm).

O Pequeno almoço é bastante completo e tem um horario bom para quem está de ferias (até ás 10h30). O Restaurante italiano é bastante agradável, junto à piscina. Ambiente tranquilo.

Algum ruido no quarto vindo dos corredores. Devia haver uma porta separadora interior para minimizar este problema. É um hotel com cerca de 20 anos mas está relativamente bem conservado. Gostava que as areas exteriores como ex refeição, pequeno almoço tivessem zonas separadas para não fumadores e fumadores. Gosto muito de estar no exterior a comer mas habitualmente não fico por causa dos fumos.

O nosso quarto, 257 está a precisar de manutenção. Parede atrás da cama toda rachada e com lombas; a porta da casa de banho descaía e não fechava, chuveiro pequeno funcionava mas o encaixe estava com defeito.

The grounds were beautiful. The location, beach pools and breakfast were amazing. The staff was lovely.

Die tolle Lage mit einfachem Zugang zum Strand und die sehr schön angelegte Liegefläche rund um das Pool. Auch die Tennisplätze/der Paddletennisplatz sind sehr schön.

Die Zimmer sind schon ein bisschen in die Jahre gekommen.

Buffet petit-déjeuner complet, chambre spacieuse. Nous avions demandé une chambre tranquille et notre demande a été bien reçue. Jolie piscine et un endroit à l'écart pour se reposer sur les transats, à quelques pas de la piscine. Super agréable.

On aurait aimé recevoir quelques infos sur l'hôtel et ses différents espaces lors du check-in, mais il y avait beaucoup de monde arrivant à la même heure. Finalement, tout est bien indiqué et les infos disponibles dans l'hôtel.

O fornecimento das toalhas de praia era complicado. Eram as empregadas de limpeza que colocavam as toalhas no quarto. No final do dia não podíamos entregar a ninguém as toalhas e de manhã cedo não víamos as funcionárias e por isso tínhamos que usar as mesmas toalhas sujas com areia e ….

The hotel was beautiful, impeccably clean, really comfortable rooms, great views and the staff were all amazing. We lived the spa and gym too and it was great to be able to use the sister hotel’s facilities too.

Décorations vieillissantes (en très bon état, mais plus à la mode). TV non connectée. Buffet (petit déjeuner et demi-pension) pas digne d'un 4 étoiles : pain de mauvaise qualité, charcuterie sans goût et identique jour après jour. Mon conseil : ne pas prendre la demi pension, et aller au Il Basilico ou dans les restaurants aux alentours.

Las camas de nivel mediocre, la ducha y el baño con necesidad de una buena revision; la pantalla TV pequeña; en definitiva las habitaciones requieren ser renovadas para ser un 4 estrellas de verdad. El ambiente por las noches es triste porque la musica en vivo es en un interior donde nadie quiere estar en verano. A la diferencia de PortoBay Blue Ocean donde es en la terraza y el ambiente es mucho mejor; Parece que desde fuera las habitaciones tambien.

Its location. Access to the beach, the pool, breakfast, although I didn’t take part in the activities because I was busy with family… I liked the option. The buffet was great. A really beautiful location over looking the beach. Access to the ocean blue hotel was a real positive, another beautiful hotel.

The rule about pool towels wasn’t enforced. Many beds were unoccupied but reserved with towels. The tables beside the pool beds were not wiped clean.

O hotel é tranquilo, a localização é fantástica e o design do espaço exterior do hotel é bonito, e está bem cuidado, na forma como se integra na natureza envolvente. Os funcionários foram sempre disponíveis e descomplicados na relação connosco. Salientamos a Star do mês de Junho, para nós foi em Julho, Tatiana Nunes, uma força da natureza em boa disposição e na resposta sempre humana a tudo. Almoçámos todos os dias naquele belo 'spot' do Il Basílico, pela excelente localização, pelos pratos de qualidade, exceto o Penne que não tem nada de italiano, e pela simpatia da Tatiana. E fica perto de uma praia muito agradável,

Para os preços praticados, espera-se um hotel mais moderno. Banheira velha com remendos, formigas na casa de banho e na cama, cortinas muito velhas, colchão demasiado usado. Pequeno almoço banal, e todos os dias era exatamente a mesma comida. O edifício já está velho, principalmente os quartos.

La struttura è adatta alla clientela più esigente. Abbiamo apprezzato la cordialità, gentilezza e disponibilità di tutto il personale sempre sorridente e premuroso. Le camere e parti comuni sono accuratamente pulite. L'hotel offre servizi per tutte le esigenze. L'arredamento è molto curato. Nei pressi della piscina si trovano terrazze elegantemente attrezzate di lettini e poltrone da giardino da cui si gode della magnifica vista sulla spettacolare spiaggia. Per raggiungerla, è presente una comoda scalinata. Per concludere, sia le colazioni che le cene a buffet offrono ampia scelta per tutti i gusti con eccellente qualità e quantità del cibo e varietà. Il buffet alla sera ha un ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo e lo consigliamo ampiamente.

Die wunderschöne Gartenanlage und die unmittelbare Nähe zum Strand waren perfekt. Auch das Fitnessstudio und der Spa-Bereich haben uns sehr gut gefallen und waren modern sowie gepflegt.

Leider sind die Zimmer etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Die Fotos vermitteln einen besseren Eindruck, als die Zimmer tatsächlich bieten. Auch das Frühstücksbuffet hat uns etwas enttäuscht, insbesondere die Auswahl an frischen und gesunden Speisen. Schade war zudem, dass die Omeletten nicht mit frischen Eiern zubereitet wurden, sondern aus Flüssigei.

Beach was not ideal for limited mobility guest as 125 steps down to beach level. Also, given the price, we would have expected umbrella and sunbeds provided at the beach but found out this was a separate business to be booked and paid in addition.

Ein Hotel dieser Kategorie sollte im Zimmer Wasserflaschen bereitstellen. Unverständlich, dass es am Strand Falesia direkt unterhalb des Hotels keinen Hotelbereich gibt bzw Bons für die lokalen Liegestuhlverleiher. Das Hotel ist mir insgesamt überteuert vorgenommen.

We are now repeat guests, and we love love love staying at the PortoBay Falesia. Are there fancier hotels in the area - sure there are - but we always feel so welcome, comfortable and relaxed at the PortoBay. We've started to become familiar with the waiters and many of the long term staff at the hotel (who have also started to recognize us - haha), and they are always so pleasant. We enjoyed the new link between the fresher Blue Ocean, giving us more options of places to eat and space to enjoy ... but in the end we were happy just to stay local to the PortoBay. We are a family of 3 (8 year old). Everything is easy. Nothing over fancy ... but the evening menus at the Basilico (PortoBay) and the new Flor de Sal (Blue Ocean) are just fantastic! Big shout out to the whole reception team; also waiter and barman Michael, housekeeping Ana, and Filipa and the whole "fitness" team ... amazing energy!

Okay - so for the first time I felt myself feeling a little annoyed, poolside ... normally so relaxed and easy, but for some reason the PortoBay has felt the need to introduce a "lifeguard" (who just seemed so bored and disengaged with everything going on). She didn't lift a finger to help the wonderful Filipa and her (also wonderful) water aerobics team. I've seen lifeguards walking around the pool, greeting guests, taking down umbrellas in the evening, tidying up, and just staying busy while keeping an eye on things. Not a single thing! She did nothing more that direct at every young budding pool-goer that "BALLS NOT ALLOWED!" (which I must admit, is actually a good thing - last year there was more plastic than water - so good to manage that) ... but damn, just a bit of chill! Engage a bit ... on that note - check out the received from the amazing Ana before we departed ...

A szobák hangosak ,az ajtó csapkodást,a szomszédokat nagyon hallani . Mi első nap szobacserét is kértünk ,alattunk volt a konyha ,késő estig és hajnalban már lehetett hallani a csörömpölest ,turmix gépet. De nagyon segítőkészek voltak egyből kaptunk masik szobát.

Wir haben für Julii gebucht und über 230 € pro Nacht für die niedrigste Zimmerkategorie bezahlt. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis war aus unserer Sicht völlig unangemessen. Bereits das erste Zimmer war aufgrund der extrem lauten Animation des benachbarten All-Inclusive-Hotels kaum nutzbar. Unsere Bitte um ein ruhigeres Zimmer oder eine vorzeitige Abreise gegen Bezahlung der ersten Nacht wurde vom Management strikt abgelehnt. Stattdessen wurde uns sogar mitgeteilt, dass es an der gesamten Algarve keine ruhigen Zimmer gebe – eine Aussage, die wir nicht nachvollziehen können. Erst nach vielen Gesprächen und einer Wartezeit von über 20 Stunden erhielten wir schließlich ein Upgrade auf ein ruhigeres Zimmer, welches dann kostenfrei zur Verfügung gestellt wurde. Zunächst wurde uns jedoch angeboten, ein ruhigeres Zimmer gegen einen Aufpreis von 260 € für vier Nächte zu erhalten. Dennoch wurden wir in der zweiten Nacht durch massive Lärmbelastung stark gestört. Erholsamer Schlaf war nicht möglich, weshalb wir einen Tag früher abreisten – ohne Rückerstattung. Auch der Zustand der Zimmer war enttäuschend: modriger Geruch, durchgelegene Matratze, defekte Balkontür, klebriges Silikon, nicht funktionierende Steckdosen sowie insgesamt stark abgewohnte Einrichtung. Die Hotelmanagerin Deborah war bemüht, die Situation zu entschärfen und brachte Sekt sowie einen Obstteller aufs Zimmer. Das konnte den Gesamteindruck jedoch nicht verbessern. Unser Eindruck: Das Hotel ist klar auf wirtschaftlichen Profit ausgerichtet, nicht auf Gästekomfort oder Erholung. Wer Ruhe, Komfort und Service erwartet, ist hier falsch. Wer entsprechende Prioritäten setzt, könnte eher zufrieden sein. Wir empfehlen, auch die negativen Bewertungen auf verschiedenen Plattformen sorgfältig zu lesen – sie spiegeln nach unserer Erfahrung viele der genannten Probleme wider.

Very little to comment on. Bedrooms a little dated in decor but still comfortable and spotlessly clean

We came for a 3 day beach and pool trip when 26 weeks pregnant and had an amazing time. The breakfast was excellent with a good range of options, the pool was big enough that it was never crowded, and the beach was right on the doorstep (although 120 or so steps down). There is also a sister hotel next door where we ate one night and was delicious. The hotel was very accommodating on our last day when we stayed to use the facilities after we checked out. They stored our luggage and when we needed to leave, we showered in the spa.

I would recommend booking any excursions directly rather than via the hotel. The one thing that dampened our holiday was that we booked on a catamaran tour via the hotel after the concierge called the company to check if pregnant women could go. They said yes but at our own risk (which we took to mean a comfort risk, e.g. nausea on the water or uncomfortable seats on the boat). When we went to pay, a different concierge said she wouldn't recommend and it could be potentially cause us to lose the pregnancy. Even though the risk was unlikely, it was too high cost to be worth a boat tour. However, because it was within 24 hours, they wouldn't let us refund, though they gave us back the 20% commission the hotel makes. Still, we lost >50 euro on it. If we had booked directly with the tour company, we might have understood the risks more clearly as safety risks rather than comfort risks. Other than that, the only suggestion I'd make is that the hotel staff should remove towels from sun loungers every hour or so. The signs say you can't reserve with just a towel, but it's quite aggressive as a hotel guest to remove someone's towels, though every day there were loungers that were never reclaimed. It would be great if they treated it like breakfast, just like tables are reset when guests leave, lounge chairs should be reset.
