Beautiful room with everything you need. Friendly staff and a great location. Highly recommend.
Excellent location. Easy walking to key attractions in Old Towne.
Parking was difficult because it dealt with a separate company.
The location is very good, its within walking distance to the centre.

A great hotel in a great location on the edge of the Grassmarket. Very quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Would highly recommend and would stay again.
Nothing.
Very clean and tidy. Comfortable beds. Great location.
Staff should have told us on arrival about Edinburgh charge on motor vehicles that are run on Diesel. I had a fine once I went home.
Exceptional staff and rooms. The shower and bathtub stood out as one of the best I’ve stayed in. The staff (an American gal in particular) carried our bags up many flights with the best attitude and was helpful with suggestions and getting us a taxi on departure (which arrived within the minute).
Great location, friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are comfortable and well decorated.
The bar is in a mezzanine and it was far too hot! There is clearly a problem and it is wrong the hotel makes someone work in those conditions. The barman wasn't complaining but was clearly incredibly uncomfortable.
Fantastic hotel. Staff were kind, friendly and helpful. The room was immaculate, extremely comfortable and so spacious. Complementary minibar with all sorts of goodies. Luxury toiletries and the shower and bath were huge. Breakfast and restaurant were also great. Location is amazing, around the corner from the National Museum of Scotland and many other city centre landmarks. Great sound insulation so you get to enjoy the perks of the location without compromising on peace and privacy.
Superb Location, very friendly staff and clean.
Air conditioning was poor, i selected the hotel considering AC was major criteria. But was not sufficient.

Quirky and traditional. Loved the outside courtyard and the 1st floor bar.
Can’t think of anything
The location was very good for walking in old town, there was air conditioning, wifi, and a mini fridge in the room.
The first day I arrived I believe the hotel was having an off day. It was not a great experience ( the first day) but the female staff was amazing. The male managers should be fired. The day I was leaving there was blood all along the front side walk, very unique stay.
Bra läge. Trevlig personal
Location next to the meadows and short walk to the royal mile ,busy place
We got a big room suite .Design is wierd with bath and bathtubs design.Hotel feels cramped as it’s old but decent
Very welcoming and professional staff. Felt like a high quality hotel. They went above and beyond to accommodate my request due to my husband's birthday, upgrading our room and providing a free hamper full of amazing goodies! The bed was extremely comfortable, the shower and bath were both lovely and the access out of hours was appreciated to be able to get to and from the hotel safely while visiting the Royal Military Tattoo and Edinburgh festival. Easy to walk to the castle from our location. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay!

Our room was excellent, very spacious and comfortable
The hotel does not feel very welcoming with a very small reception area, to get to that you have to push through an outside sitting area in an enclosed courtyard Also slapped with a 5% increase for a tourism levy which was not there when booked. Clearly not hotel du vin issue, but made the one night stay very expensive.
Location and service
Bit topsy turvy layout but old building
Friends were very comfortable, as staff was very attendant and enthusiastic.. fabulous location for Edinburgh finish festival programs at Bristol Square

The room was very clean, comfortable and stylish. The service was excellent all through the hotel. The courtyard was a lovely oasis of calm. Breakfast was very nice.

5 min from Victoria street Clean and quiet Kind staff They rent umbrellas ☔️ for their guests at low price
Limited options for breakfast The path room is open to the bedroom so no privacy for more than one person stayed in the room.
Mil gracias!!
Imposible, todo perfecto.
Location was excellent. Room was lovely.
Muy buena ubicación.
The Location is super central and the hotel very modern and comfortable.
Sore it was the Fringe, but is it necessary to bump the prices up so much?
(Gehbehindert)
Posizione, stile hotel e stile camera, doccia eccellente, pulizia e cambio asciugamani ogni giorno, letto un po piccolo ma comodo , disponibilità ristorante se utile, disponibilità staff, amenities occitane abbondanti, tea caffè biscotti in stanza

Modern charming hotel
VERY Happy , NO UN happy faces , smiles all round , 5 *****Star
The hotel du vin, for us, failed to live up to its reputation. Our ‘delux’ room which, had both of us been only four feet tall, might have met our expectations. Unfortunately one of us is six feet three and this meant they had to move around too much of the room bent double in orderto get out of bed and makea cup of tea. The food and service were disappointing. On the first night we had the prix fixe menu. The soup au pistou was thin watery, the sauce with the chicken had minimal depth of flavour, the only redeeming part of the meal was dessert. Breakfast was just about ok. In the evening we chose the day’s special, fish and chips. The portion was child size and proved to be mostly batter, crisp on the outside soggy on the inside. The service left a lot to be desired.
The location The helpful staff The cleanliness
The rooms are soundproofed but as it’s an old building there was quite a lot of noise from the room above which did disturb our sleep. The shower could also have been better.
The location was perfect.
Excellent location for visiting Edinburgh. The rooms are comfortable, and the catering services are pretty good in terms of quality and variety. The staff are very attentive and friendly. I would particularly like to highlight Albert, who gave us some great tips about the city.

This is a lovely hotel that has been converted from a church (I believe) in walking distance from old town Edinburgh and the Grassmarket. They operate a lovely restaurant and a small, intimate bar. The rooms are reasonable in size and well appointed. Since I had made them aware we were celebrating a special occasion, they provided us a bottle of wine in the room upon arrival. A great location in the Old Town and very nearby the University with its beautiful green.
Excellent staff member at check-in. Upgraded our room on arrival.

A truly lovely hotel in a great area for the old town. Let down slightly by the pretty awful breakfast, which went uneaten as it was mostly stone cold. No staff came near to enquire, so no opportunity to complain or ask for a hot meal. Ladies on reception were really nice, professional and helpful.
I booked this room for my parents, and they said it was an amazing hotel. The room was very clean and spacious, and the location is great. They absolutely loved the breakfast, and my mother said it was the most comfortable hotel bed she had ever slept in. They also really appreciated the staff, especially mentioning Khyati from reception who was extremely friendly and accomodating and who took excellent care of them throughout their stay, always ready to go the extra mile to make their time at the hotel as comfortable and memorable as possible.
Nothing to complain about!
It’s location is excellent, great bistro and clean and comfortable
ładny hotelik

Great location just outside the hustle and bustle.
You can get lost in the maze of hallways and stairways, but that’s also part of the charm
Suite maravilhosa, espaçosa, muito bem decorada, limpa, confortável. Adoramos tudo!

Location was perfect. Breakfast was excellent. Aurora was very friendly and accommodating with the breakfast service. Kalpesh served me several times and was excellent at his job.
It was a little pricey.
We are so impressed by Hotel du Vin that we are fashioning our own home bedrooms & bathrooms in a similar style. The beds are always an amazing rest for my sore back after travelling & the deep baths are refreshingly relaxing. We left an expensive pair of hiking poles & the staff were able to locate them & bring them to us. Khathi & Analisa were lovely on reception, they were not pretentious at all, instead they were kind, down-to-earth & helpful. It is great to see that the world famous Bedlam Asylum has been carefully crafted into another beautiful HDV.
We had a great experience at Hotel Du Vin & Bistro. We spent 4 nights here at the beginning of our 2 week Scotland adventure. It's perfectly located to easily walk to the Royal Mile, Victoria Street and all sites and attractions surrounding those spots, while being slightly out of the middle of it all so it's more quiet. The room had a lot going for it...we had a spacious suite. (Suite in this case is a very large room, as opposed to separate rooms as it often is when you see "suite.") There were many nice things in the room...a gorgeous tub, well appointed bathroom area. It may have felt a bit busy with lots of extra decorative and functional things overlapping each other. The bathroom didn't have a counter of any kind so we couldn't quite set up our bathroom items and had to live out of the toiletries bags we brought. We had a fantastic experience in the restaurant for breakfast. There's a continental buffet (including one of those fantastic super-automatic espresso machines) plus you got to order prepared hot food off the menu. Our server each morning was Angela who we loved...she welcomed us and took very good care of us all 4 mornings. The hotel doesn't have a grand lobby...the entry area is a small space but once you get to know your way around there are many adorable and comfortable sitting spaces all over the maze of the hotel. We'd definitely stay here again.
Lovely hotel, great location, room was exceptional and breakfast first class.

Dass die Kühlung im Zimmer ausgefallen ist
Absolutely outstanding, the staff were fantastic and we received a free upgrade. The suite was enormous with every facility you could imagine. It may be slightly expensive but it is well worth it. It also had a private courtyard away from the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh. I cannot recommend this hotel enough, it blew our mind.
I struggle to think of anything that I didn’t like but if I was to be very picky I would like more beer choices at the bar
This is a very disappointing hotel for the (high) price. The positives are that it is well-located, just five minutes’ walk from the Royal Mile, and that the food, at breakfast and dinner in the restaurant, was very good. The rooms are stylishly but eccentrically designed, with lots of drawbacks such as noisy plumbing and a shower that dripped for ages after being switched off, very few electric power points, a safe box that was placed way too high up, and very limited wardrobe space and few clothes hangers. Pretty but not user-friendly. But the real problem was that the staff, although pleasant and friendly, were not really helpful. When we realised that reaching our room involved a lot of walking including climbing a flight of stairs (because the lift didn’t go that far), we explained to the receptionist that my wife has difficulty walking, but the receptionist made zero effort to see whether she could find an alternative room - quite extraordinary. The following day, we stayed in the room during the morning, but we asked in the early afternoon for the room to be cleaned - we were promised that this would happen, but it took three hours and another phone call for that to be done. Not what one would, or should, expect from a hotel at this price point.
Visited today for Sunday lunch and to say I was disappointed would be an under statement. You can visit the chefs table for your starters and the selection was average and the prawns all had to be shelled and in all honesty not worth the bother as of your hands end smelling of shellfish! We both went for the roast beef, and as you can see from the photograph it was 2 very thinly sliced Pieces with a lot of fat, the roast potatoes were dry and the veg under cooked and hard, as for the Yorkshire pudding it was dry and definitely not made that day. Our tart although tasty the base was not cooked through. Overall disappointing!
Location and up grade of room
Difficult to navigate around, more signage would have helped
Beautifully furnished and great location
Not much, just could have done with a little more signage to help find room and get back to reception

Not a lot
From the warm welcome on reception from Jennifer, who took us to our room to the fine young man, Kalpesh who ran the mezzanine bar, to Jasmine in the bistro, we had a fabulous three nights in the Old Town. The hotel was perfect, comfortable room and bed, exceptional staff, two other young ladies in reception whose names escape me make the whole experience effortless. Fine location, close to fine eateries, historic sites and close to the Meadows. Thank you everyone for making our trip so enjoyable.

Perfect location, just off Royal Mile. Clean and so cute! Lovely wine bar.
Everything, the room was spectacular, the location unbeatable and the atmosphere was excellent and wrapped in a warm hug of long history and whispers from the past.

Outstanding luxury hotel in the heart of the city. We stayed in one of the suites which was large and well appointed. Highly recommend.
Everything was perfect! Excellent staff service and accommodations.
Staff was welcoming and the hotel is very beautiful and the rooms are spacious. Loved the big windows! Huge bathroom and a perfect location close to the old city.
The staff are SUPER. We also loved being in the heart of the old town, just a 5-minute walk to the best part of the Royal Mile and also to the Grassmarket. The hotel old-world on the outside, modern on the inside with comfortable beds, excellent breakfast and restaurant. Our room had really good air conditioning, a very comfortable bed, and a fabulous hot shower and soaking tub. The hotel also includes plenty of common areas for relaxing both inside and outside.
The room was a bit smaller than we had expected, but despite that, there was plenty of storage space for clothes.
It was quirky!! Although I dont understand the trend for viewing showers!!!!
The evening menu was divine but english translation from french on specials would have been helpful
Location was nice; away from busy streets. The hotel was decorated nicely, creating a cozy atmosphere.

We arrived in Edinburgh exhausted from the Trip and Albert was both gracious and accommodating with all the assistance getting us established in our room. All our needs were well attended during our stay, the room was very comfortable and any need we had merely needed a request to see handled.

Lovely helpful staff - very generous bottle of champagne in the room for a birthday celebration. Nicely appointed rooms with lovely decor.

Staff were very friendly and helpful Gorgeous breakfast Our Delux Double was noisy during the night as it overlooked the main reception courtyard Disturbing our sleep Location was good for castle
Noisy room
The staff went above and beyond. On the day we arrived, we hadn’t had anything to eat for a while. Though afternoon tea service had concluded just before we came, the staff put together a nice little tea for us which was amazing! The food is wonderful, and we enjoyed the quirkiness of the building. Our rooms were great - good size, nicely appointed. We also enjoyed the outdoor patio area when it was sunny and the indoor lounge when it was chilly. The history museum and several good restaurants are just steps away, and one of the stops for the city tour bus was reasonably close.
Nothing!
Property is located on a quieter side street away from the busier Royal Mile which made it quiet
Rooms were too hot at night for sleeping
