Rooms need updating. A lot of tear and wear

We stayed in Premium Sea View Suite and room was fabulous! Very clean and comfortable and super spacious. Housekeeping was on point and minibar got stocked daily. Premium has included room service and we utilized that twice. Food is not amazing, but options are plenty and we were not going hungry. Staff is exceptional, always polite and helpful! Buffets on adult side definitely had better food and all the restaurants we chose had at least one item from our meal we truly enjoyed. We have up on Kiyoto because heat was overwhelming. Most of places are on the warmer side as far as temperature goes. Theater is open to outside, has large fans. Shows were left to be desired but views and grounds definitely makes up for that! Overall we loved the experience and would return!

Hydrotherapy SPA is amazing

99% of the staff was downright rude, inattentive, and seemed annoyed anytime you needed something. Our room was dated, the paint job terrible, dusty on the furniture, closets, shelves and counters. The bathroom had black hairs in the shower upon checkin, the towels were threadbare and ripping, and it smelt like sewer. There was mold growing on the vents, and it was loud outside of our room. The property itself was beautiful but the cleanliness was not up to par. Garbage was just thrown around the pool area, beach and walkways and would be there for days. The food was AWFUL. Poor quality and poor taste. The pool area was loud and not relaxing. They allowed people to go in with their clothes in large party groups with individual speakers blasting their music. You could have multiple groups all with different speakers blasting different music in one space. The pool and beach towels were so thin, stained and tearing. You were also only allowed one. The ground smelt like sewage, so did many of the restaurants. At one point the entire resort lost water so there were no working toilets or sinks. They got them working at the main pool area, but our room took the entire day before we had working facilities. When we complained we had to complete and survey and then they offered us $150 to give them a 5 star review, which we declined. Just terrible.

This is our second time going to this resort in 4 months. We absolutely love it there. Can’t wait to go back.

Great buffet food.

Check in was quick. While checking in, we requested to stay in bldg 4. After being given the envelope with towel cards (which was ready for us when we arrived) the young lady showed us on the property map where we had been scheduled to stay. It was far from the beach, in the golf area. We had not requested the golf package. The sticker on the envelope had our room number indicating bldg 4. Not sure why she would say they had us in the golf area when clearly we had been booked for bldg 4. Room was clean and orderly. Housekeeping did great job! Steamer (for clothing) wasn't working. Notified concierge and an iron was brought to our room. Unfortunately, no ironing board was provided. Did not care for the tub/shower combination. Tub was deep and awkward to get in/out. In the past we have had shower only. Concierge staff was very helpful with dinner reservations. When they found out it was my husband's birthday a cake was sent to our room. Delicious! Did not use the spa during this visit. Nightly shows were great! We have been staying at this resort for years and will return again.

Venancia fue excelente 10/10

Clean place, staff very kind & efficient. It’s a lovely spot if you’re hoping to find some peace away from the daily grind.

Overall the place was amazing, very beautiful and very calm , our host Doval was absolutely the best , she took care of all our needs and made sure that we didn’t have one worry , very well professional, if you plan on staying here ask for her , she will take good care of you !

Only thing i dont like is the bathroom. I stay in building 4 and the showers where in bad shape. / no doors for privacy and tile work was not the best …

Overall our stay at Barcelo Bavaro was amazing. We have enjoyed all the activities, food and atmosphere, all was quiet and relaxing . The theater performing was ok, will need some type of improvement so doesn’t look to repetitive. We love to come back sometime in the near future.

The location was great the food was mediocre at best. We tried almost all the dining options on the property. For all the different options other than buffet we were disappointed with them all.Reservations are a must as soon as you check in preferably.

Celebración de cumpleaños de 4 días , fue increíble, mi grupo de 22 personas la pasamos muy bien , todos quedaron encantados con las atenciones prestados por todos los empleados del resort, y la limpieza , la comodidades de las habitaciones familiar, el parque de agua aunque no muy grande, pero nos divertimos muchísimo y la comida excelente, bueno en general todos,fueron unos dias maravilloso , un gran reconocimiento a las chicas del chekin y a las chicas del restaurante Buffett muy amable y al supervisor y las chicas del restaurant Santa Fe , nos prepararon un ambiente perfecto para la cena del cumpleaños de mi hija, no recuerdo su nombre , pero la cena fue el viernes 26 de septiembre, este fue mi segundo viaje a celebrar en familia y espero volver pronto si Dios lo permite.

This is decent resort but not excellent , you have to take a lot of money for tips to be treated well!! We all know tips are good but the expectation is a lot higher than you think! Booked restaurants are fake ones it’s all the same in all of them! Waitress at the restaurant makes comments if you want something from them!! Nobody speaks English!!!

Everything perfect. Pool bar guys are amazing.

Cleaning OK, but the bed were not made properly . I honestly believe it would be better if there were to have services on the pool side as well as the beach you have to walk to the bar to get whatever you want to drink and eat. There’s no service within those areas. There no room service as well.

One of the reserved restaurants had a cockroach walking on the food, and also one on the floor near that bar. Next reservation restaurant, had red lipstick on a glass that the waitress poured water into. New York was the worst piece of meat we ever received, and did not eat it. Cancelled the rest of restaurant reservations, reluctantly only used the buffet. This was a very disappointing dining experience and it is upsetting that the only ramification from the manager of the resort was to offer us another restaurant. Plus, when we declined another restaurant, the manager did not follow up in another way. In addition, the room which we stayed in, had a stain on the couch ( I would not sit on that couch), the ventilation system was very dusty, daily we had to spray the room with deodorizer so the room would not smell and the shower/toilet room needed a deep cleaning. Would not recommend the resort and will not ever go back.

This place is huge has a bowling alley which I’ve never seen at a resort which was different the staff was wonderful….. but other than the Japanese restaurant the food may have been the worst food I’ve had while on a vacation I literally ate grilled cheese for lunch everyday from the buffet and I ate at the restaurants for dinner every night and I said with the exception of the Japanese restaurant they were horrible for example the steakhouse was the worst we ordered well done steak and received a raw steak and the potatoes weren’t edible so I wound up with chicken tenders of the kids menu and the Italian restaurant was just very average and the Mexican restaurant was terrible raw fish and bland food also I may have to take away a star for the fact that my wife saw a roach in the buffet line while waiting to get a undercooked omelette that the lady behind her had to kill since the worker couldn’t catch it

Mi experiencia en este hotel fue sumamente decepcionante. El servicio de los empleados dejó mucho que desear: poco amables y nada atentos. Las habitaciones estaban mal limpiadas y, para colmo, encontramos cucarachas en la nuestra. La comida era de mala calidad, el ambiente tenía un olor desagradable y los meseros nunca estaban pendientes; en tres restaurantes distintos tuvimos que levantarnos varias veces para recibir atención. En general, una estadía muy desagradable. No recomiendo este lugar y definitivamente no volvería.

Everything was great!!

Stay was great many activities and things to do for kids. The beach is at this resort awesome, calm water, clean, and plenty of chairs, no vendors on this beach, several lifeguards on beachfront. No drink or food service on beach. The room had a lot of humidity from climate outside that caused wet puddles several days on floors, it cleaned up quickly when housekeeping was notified. A lot of space in family room (2 doubles, 1 king) in two separate areas.

Pools were great but the nigth club needs variety about music. Never played a bachata,salsa or any latin sounds. Just same kind of music all nights that I stayed there.

The grounds were beautiful and very clean! The room was very spacious with 3 beds and 2 bathrooms! We were premium so check in was quick and the Butler Fredrick was amazing!!

Everything was good accept the food. The food at the buffet wasn’t very good. Italian and Spanish restaurants weren’t good. Japanese restaurant was good. Staff had hard time understanding English.

Mi experiencia en el Barceló Palace fue increíble, todo el Staff fue muy cordial, servicial y buena disposición siempre para ayudar, en especial nuestro conserje Emmanuel que fue una gran ayuda para todo nuestro grupo. El hotel siempre limpio y amplias instalaciones.

Room was not very clean. Food options were great but wasn't as good as we hoped. Restaurants were very warm which made it very uncomfortable to eat. Santa Fe was very disappointing. Food was not good and they screwed up the orders. Kyoko was wonderful and fun. Coral food was good. Pools are awesome water park was great. We called weeks ago and requested a first floor room my wife has bad knees. We were put on the 3rd floor which made it hard for her the entire week. Bars were nice and service was good. Most were nice.

Great place to stay, staff is wonderful

Most of the hotel staff were very nice and helpful especially the personal butler Pedro. However, the restaurants lack professional service etiquette with exception of Kyoto and Comedie. I believe it’s because we had the all inclusive premium level status so gratuities are included. I’m a big tipper having been in the restaurant industry for over 30 years. It’s not that difficult to make a guest feel comfortable with a smile and some respectable attention. Upon check out, the receptionist Heidy was very rude. I recommend staying here mainly because it’s worth the money for all you get. The food was excellent and Pedro and the housekeepers were remarkable.

We had a great stay at Barcelo Bavaro. It is very family friendly and I loved how the room had a separate bedroom for our daughter and for us. It was also great that they brought up a crib for her. It is a very large property and a little confusing at times. My daughter loved all of the kids' pools and even the larger pools. The trains that take you around were a nice touch too. The spa was also lovely. It is a great property for families but difficult with the size and location of everything if you are unable to walk a ton. Some downsides - It was rough walking up 3 flights of stairs at 7 months pregnant as there are no elevators in the family units. The food was just okay. It was sometimes difficult to get reservations for dinner. There were very few employees who spoke English and you truly need to know Spanish to get around. Otherwise, the staff was friendly and some more helpful than others. The other downside was that the buffet for lunch did not open until 1230pm which cut into our daughter's nap time. There were also a few times that staff (housekeeping) walked right into our room if our door wasn't locked which was very shocking. Overall, it was a good experience and I would recommend this resort. It needs some work to get to 5 stars but we did have a great vacation.

Barceló Bávaro Palace – Mixed Experience The resort itself is stunning, very clean, and huge with plenty of activities. The train around the property is a nice touch. However, the family buffet food was very disappointing—we ended up eating at the sports bar most of the time. I paid extra for a junior suite with a hot tub, but the Wi-Fi didn’t work. After wasting two days with the front desk and technicians, I was moved to a smaller regular room with no refund. The second room was clean, but the thermostat didn’t function properly. Tip: if you don’t have kids, go to the adults-only buffet—the food there is much better. Overall: Beautiful resort, but Wi-Fi and buffet food need big improvements. I’d still recommend it, but with lowered expectations.

We had an amazing stay here. The service was excellent. The staff are very friendly. The food was decent. Drinks were good too! The beach is still dealing with some seaweed but still very enjoyable. Jose the server from Kyoto was EXCELLENT. He was always there to take care of us. Brandol Ortega one of the concierge was AMAZING. He took care of all of our dinner reservations. And booked us a spot in the Hydro-Spa. He was so friendly and happy to help us whenever we needed something. This resort is great for families and couples. There is plenty to do, and many restaurants to enjoy. I will be coming back in the near future. great experience!

Location 5 stars. Hotel rooms need of major renovations, tv and lamp didnt work. A/C didnt work and changed rooms after second night

The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The facilities were clean and beautiful. Any issues or concerns were addressed in a timely matter.

This is the second time I stay in Barceló but this time it was disappointing. The service, the food and the quality of the premises are lower quality now. My family and myself got sick on the second day due to the food.

Great place and staff. I will come back. 5 stars. The only issue I had is people smoking anywhere, they need to designate smoking areas. They were children in the Hotel

We were put in the wrong room at first. We did not receive several things that said it would be in our room. The food was mediocre at best with limited options.

The property is very secured, very clean, beautiful beach and garden. The food was great.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! They rate themselves as a five start hotel but there were TERMITES everywhere!!! I woke up with a rash all over my body everyday and did not understand why. One day I come back to my hotel room and I see TERMITES all over the bathroom sink, personal items, and the bed. I called to complain and for them to give me new toothbrushes but they took one hour to bring me the toothbrushes, didn’t apologize for the termites or come in and to see what I was referring to. I had to take Benadryl because my reaction and rashes were getting worse to the point my throat was getting affected. I had to clean the termites myself but they kept coming back. When I went to complain during my checkout, their response was that they were a five star hotel. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU OR YOUR KIDS HAVE ANY TYPE OF ALLERGIC REACTIONS!!!! I saw cockroaches inside the establishments, every time you would walk inside a dining room or bathroom it smelled like dust and rotten wood. No service at the pool or beach, you have to get your own drinks and I have been to resorts where they bring you your own drinks at the beach and pool. The Mediterranean and Spanish restaurant were good, service exceptional. However, the steakhouse was absolutely awful, you couldn’t even stick your fork through the meat and I had to cut the steak for a solid two minutes. Personally, I have never seen a NY strip with bone but that’s what they served. I WISH I COULD GIVE THEM ZERO STARS. NEVER RETURNING AGAIN.

This is our 3rd time at this property and each time we come is better than the last.

Family friendly and staff were very nice

It was good overall, we got a 4th floor no elevator room, and distance to dining, pool and beach was exhausting, other than that it was good, also washroom was clogged for 3 days until they come to fix it

Check in was very slow even though it didn't look too busy. There are many pools and the beach had a lot of seaweed. We weren't able to reallg enjoy that. The staff and service was unpleasant as staff didn't seem to want to answer questions, make drinks at bars, or provide service at the buffets. Most times we asked for something it was meant with a below average attitude. There was a male staff member that followed us one night and insisted on coming to our room (one of the girls was flirtacious) but it made me uncomfortable that i had to say no many times. Food was mediocre. It was nearly imposible to book any dinners at the restaurants because they were booked 4 or more days out and we weren't there that long. Overall, would not recommend or come again. Casino was fun and the disco was pleasantly a good time.

Everything about the property was nice. My only suggestion is to hire a few professional dancers to entice guests to actually dance at the disco. And hire a professionally trained chef instructor to train the kitchen staff.

I enjoyes the bar at the pool a nd how friendly the staff was.

I wasn’t amazed by the facilities features due to the lack of time to go everywhere.(is huge) besides the pool which I got to explore. But I will say, the food was one of the best I’ve tried in any hotel in the area, and the staff was very friendly and diligent. The treatment I got was worth every penny spent at this location. I’d like to give a shout out to Cesar Guerrero, is a personal butter that wasn’t even assigned to me, and he made every effort possible to make me and my family feel like we were royal family. Thank you so much guys!!!

We have been to other resorts in Punta Cana and have had such different experiences when it came to service. No body seemed to care about us here and the service was not friendly.

food quality was average and the concierge was not very helpful on several occasions.

Adults only resort should have more entertainment, is mostly old people sleeping by the pool but everything else is pretty nice.

You must read this! This is our second time in Barcelo in 8 month period. The first time we visited, it was in a winter moths and now we decided to go at the beginning of September, when the crowds are gone. My previous review gave this resort 3 stars but I am going down to 1! 1. Water bugs were everywhere!!! 2. Check in is still horrible and they could care less if you have any VIP status with Expedia! If you don’t book directly with the hotel, you dont exist! Resort was half empty and they lied through their teeth that they are fully booked and cannot upgrade you. 3. We stayed at the family side by the golf course. The second day I had to change the room because of water bugs and not working AC. I was told to pack and come back at 3pm!! Once I did, the horrible front desk staff made me wait in line like the new quest!!! I spend an hour trying to get a supervisor to change my room!! Awful customer service! 4. If you are white, you will not get much service or attention!! They don’t like Americans and you will be ignored!! 5. The water in September is very hot, both the ocean and the pool. If you can’t take excessive heat, aim to go in November-March. 6. FOOD!!!! - HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!!! So many reviews of this place over the years that I read, stating that food is below average. Yet, nothing changes! They overlook, making up dishes that taste like jail food, instead of cooking less with better quality. 7. Non-existent customer service. No thank you, no how can I help!

La instalaciones estan bastantes buenas para la antiguedad del hotel. Deben enfocar mas el servicio (personalizado), la comida mucha no sabe fresca, no hubo aire acondicionado en dos ocaciones y el agua fria se nos fue estando en el jacuzzi. Pero mi familia y yo valoramos mas el tiempo que pasamos juntos que eso detalles. Por eso lo valore en 4 estrellas...Gracias y por supuesto que los volveriamos a visitar...

The property is fine. But lack of instructions like how to use the sport fields. The food has a lot of choices but taste bad. You can see a fly died on the sushi. The beach has too much seaweeds. Only 30% of the staffs speak English.

I loved the club at night, the pool, beach, adventures, and food

Resort had great amenities even if they are highly overpriced. Kids had a blast, pools were largely clean and the food was decent. Definitely check out la brissa on the adult side for dinner. Highly recommend upgrading to premium, worth every penny

We were not greated when we came in. We were just asked to go in a line to what was check in and waited and waited to be noticed by front desk staff who took a very long time to even say we will be right with you! Bed Sheets and Towels had stains on them. Waiters need some customer service skills because they looked to be annoyed to be there. No good morning greetings or how can we be of help. To top it off there were cockroaches on the buffet tables running around the food which grossed us all out and tried to eat out of the hotel instead. Food was tasteless and gross.

Excellent service.

The staff was great, the food, the pool and all the amenities were incredible. The only problem during our stay was that the AC was almost off in all restaurants and the sport bars and Game Room that made it hard to spend time there

Nuestra estadia en el hotel supero nuestras expectativas, la atencion excelente, la comida inigualable, las locaciones de ensueño.....volveriamos sin ninguna duda. Solo un punto por mejorar: El aire acondicionado en la mayoria de los restaurantes no se siente, inclusive en la discoteca.....el piso de la discoteca pegajoso...no apto para bailar.
