Provider-sourced guest reviews.
They initially told us the early check-in is additional $25 USD, but then on check-out they charged us $75.00 USD- (apparently the overnight staff is not aware of) Also they have charged us $25.00 fee per night - which could have been used as a credit towards the breakfast or the bar (these fees were not disclosed upon check in). Very poor customer service.
Great view and Greg location awesome bathroom
Ac barely worked it was very hot. Bathroom door and curtains were broken.
Great location
Staff wasn’t amenable There was an ice room that smelt like a dead animal Hidden charges Room services comes with additional charges and you can’t use credit towards room service Employees are completely clueless I could go on
When we arrived at theWit Chicago, unfortunately our room was under maintenance, so the hotel moved us to the Westin for the night. TheWit took care of the hotel and even paid for our taxi to get there. While it was certainly an unexpected inconvenience, the way the hotel handled the situation was outstanding. The next day, we returned to theWit and our room was ready on the 25th floor with a beautiful river view. When we came back to the room later that day, we were pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful fruit bowl and two bottles of Evian waiting for us. The General Manager, Morgan, had also left us a personal card apologizing for the inconvenience. That thoughtful gesture really meant a lot to us. The staff throughout our stay was awesome—friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. The rooftop was amazing as well and was definitely one of the highlights of our stay. Despite the unexpected issue when we arrived, theWit went above and beyond to make things right, and they absolutely succeeded. We would definitely recommend staying at theWit Chicago and would happily stay there again! ❤️
Rooms are so nice, it is quiet. Location is perfect.

Location
great location, nice room, great upstairs bar/beatiful and fun. it's not a Ritz, very pricey
very expensive, 2 nights, $1400
My wife and I had a 2 night at this hotel and were so happy we selected this one for our time in downtown Chicago. The location was just a couple of blocks from the Riverfront and our Big Bus tour pickup spot. The room was very spacious and the bathroom was perfect with 2 large windows overlooking downtown. There was a train that went by the hotel but the noise was not bad and did not impact our sleep. We really enjoyed our breakfast each morning and the bar on the lower level was convenient. The entire staff was very friendly. The only negative was the elevators were slow and the $86 per day for parking was excessive. Otherwise I would strongly recommend that his hotel .
Great hotel downtown. Good size clean rooms and decent food and beverage options. As of 7/20 one of 4 elevators is down and at times the block another off for just the upstairs bar so it can take some time to get one. There is road construction currently ongoing so wasn’t able to get a ride pick up or drop off on front of hotel but they could at the corner down the road. Safe area and don’t feel unsafe walking around at night. There is a 7/11 real close and lots of good eats pretty close.
Good location but sadly the customer service in this hotel is lacking. The lifts smell like a public WC and desperately need a deep clean. We stayed during my husband’s birthday and he used to a loyal diamond member but we received nothing. I requested an ice bucket and champagne glasses to be delivered to our room for 4pm on his birthday day. At 6pm it still had not appeared. Breakfast bill was wrong every day that we had breakfast in the Chicago tavern state lake restaurant. No late checkout was granted on our day of departure neither. Good luck if you decide to stay here.
I cancelled my booking with the hotel within the stipulated period and after repeated phone calls and emails, have NOT received my refund. Terrible after sales service.
The location is great.
The hotel was not as advertised. We were expecting more of an eclectic, upscale experience. Instead the rooms, food, and service were average. We also had to wait an hour for our car valet.
The location was really convenient for us to get around everywhere we wanted to go. I appreciated being so close to the riverwalk and walking distance to millenium park.
I wasn't a fan of the Roof hosting a private event which caused a ton of people to be wandering in and out of the hotel. It felt a bit uncomfortable to us and the music was quite loud. I also expected to be provided complimentary breakfast for the price we paid. Room service was okay, but the 24% fee added to the tab, along with adding gratuity, was a bit excessive.
Good Hotel rooms are small but clean and comfortable.
Problems with the elevator during our stay and price is a bit high for the quality
I booked a last-minute one-night stay at theWit Chicago while traveling in for a music show, and I couldn’t have been happier with my experience. The hotel’s prime location made it incredibly convenient, and the beautiful guestrooms, welcoming atmosphere, and exceptional staff truly made my stay memorable. A special shoutout to Zachary at Concierge, Lydia the Assistant Front Desk Manager, and Ruben the ROOF Bartender — each of them went above and beyond to make my visit feel personalized and enjoyable. Their hospitality and attention to detail really stood out. TheWit Chicago is a wonderful property, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting the city. I look forward to returning!
Stayed in this Hotel for a Business trip to Chicago. Rooms and Bathrooms were clean. Hotel staff was friendly. Gym was awesome and view of the city from roof top restaurant was really great. It was overall pleasant stay at this Hotel
The customer service was very beautiful. They was very professional. The aesthetics was also awesome. It’s really a hotel that I will visit again.
Everything was pleasurable
Close to walking and shopping convenient
For the price, I think it was too much, the elevators were down for two days
I definitely enjoyed my stay. First time staying at the Witt. I was NOT disappointed. Great experience.
Clean room. Great staff
Valet took forever
The front desk supervisor was great
Staff was great
Great beds and pillows.
Lamp didn't work. 2 usb c charger stations didn't work. only saw 2 elevators work. Check out staff was great. Check in staff didn't explain the wifi process and the room charging practice
Walkable location.
Room wasn’t ready til 5pm, battery to door died leaving my teen locked out the room for hours. Staff wouldn’t help him. Steamer didn’t work in room. Construction in front of building made for a traffic nightmare. Loud music from rooftop bar kept me up late.
Nice views, clean, wonderful location, rooftop
For how much people pay for the room and valet fee. I feel we should at least get free breakfast or complimentary water.
The carpet was old and stained. Pretty gross. The bed frame was beat up. The bathroom door was stuck so an adult had to open and shut it for the kids. The staff was very nice and professional.
The Wit is fun, clean and well located. The roof is NOT to be missed. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff is very friendly.
Great hotel, location the staff the food - excellent would highly recommend this hotel!
No mirror in the bedroom where you can plug in your hairdryer!
Our stay at TheWit Chicago was truly outstanding. The hotel is located on the L (noise was not an issue) at State and Lake. Although the adjacent State & Lake station was demolished a couple of months ago and will eventually be replaced, the next nearest L station was only about two blocks away. The hotel and rooms are nicely decorated. We were greeted by Beatriz, who checked us in early and upgraded our room as Diamond Hilton Honors members to a one-bedroom spa suite. Beatriz’s friendliness, courtesy, helpfulness, and professionalism turned out to be the norm for the entire staff, not only at the front desk, but also housekeeping, engineering (we had a small technical issue that was quickly addressed), the concierge, and the restaurant. Speaking of the restaurant, a special shout out to Milthon who took great care of us at breakfast each morning. Each time we returned from touring, we were warmly welcomed back by the staff in the lobby. I have stayed at Hilton properties all over the world and was among one of the best stays I have experienced. Kudos to the entire team and their management who clearly lead by an example of excellence.
I’ve stayed here a few times. Location is great and next to the rail system. The restaurant in the hotel is phenomenal! Staff is great and rooms are comfy and quiet.
Nothing
It’s a scam
Lobby and common areas were always clean and staff was always present. Room was semi clean.
Found hairs and dirt in some areas in my room which is hard for me to overlook playing $600+ for 2 nights along with a $300 incidental hold. Valet is ridiculous especially since there’s a 45 min. Plus wait to get your vehicle. Staff were a little rude about guests using the carts to bring their luggage down. It almost felt like if you didn’t have valet they weren’t interested in helping or allowing you to use the carts.
Unfortunately, due to a diverted flight down to weather conditions, we didn’t make it until the following morning of our one night stay. Staff were extremely accommodating and let us have a late checkout so we could sleep for a few hours and still enjoy the city.
TheWit was a strong choice for a midweek work trip to Chicago. The rooms felt relatively large by Chicago standards, everything was very clean, and the staff was personable and easy to deal with throughout the stay. The gym is on the smaller side, but still nicely kept and more than adequate for a quick workout. The main drawback was some street construction noise, but aside from that the hotel was impressively quiet. Overall, a very solid option for business travel with nice social options (rooftop bar) very convenient.
Great location and comfort.
Maybe have room service for people after shows.
Idéal location in Chicago center. Walking distance to everything
Location was perfect. Room was ok. Has a fridge, no microwave. Comfy bed, great pillows.
We were told we had a $25 credit to use on food, but the restaurants attached were too busy for us to use it.
The Wit is well located. The rooms are spacious and clean, the fitness center is well equipped and the restaurant’s food is good. The Wit lacks a buffet breakfast for the busy business traveler (although room service is available) and there is no in-house market to buy snacks or get coffee (but Dunkin' Donuts is right down the street and a 7-11 is two blocks away). The mattress was a bit worn on one side. The pricing (at least in the winter) is a very good value.
Came to Chicago to visit college campuses. First time to Chicago and was relying on public transportation and walking. This was the perfect “home-base” for all of that. While the loop station just outside was closed, the red line entrance was on the next block and seemed to get us everywhere we needed go. The train does run just outside of hotel and walking up, I was nervous about the noise, but had no issues (we were only on the 11th floor) Had to listen for it in a completely silent room in order to hear it. Millennium park (the bean), Riverwalk, magnificent mile, the art museum and a crazy amount of good restaurants are within walking distance. The restaurant downstairs, off the lobby is so good! We ate there for breakfast and dinner during our stay and we were so impressed with the food and service. The only down side I saw was on the weekends, the rooftop restaurant turns into a night club. I’d seen this mentioned in other reviews, but I didn’t see anyone mention how crowded the lobby gets. The lobby isn’t very large and they section off on elevator exclusively for the club (which is great!), but people were sort of loitering in the lobby before going up or leaving the hotel. This was a minor inconvenience when coming or going, but other than that, our stay was fantastic! My daughter and her father are planning another trip next month and I’m insistent they stay here! We will be back.
Everything is awesome: the property is clean, the stuff is friendly.
Love the the front desk staff very friendly hotel very clean room was clean spacious really good views! The valet guy seemed to be moody the one that was outside getting the cars the one inside was good tho overall everything was good
In the heart of things easy to get around great location nice clean I loved it
Absolutely NOTHING
The staff, their arrogance and their unwillingness to accept their in adequacy in their staff training.
My room overlooked the street so that was nice.
Everything The City View Was Lovely .
None Property Satisfying
Beautiful property and the staff was wonderful! Great location and walking distance to the theaters. We enjoyed our meal in the restaurant.
The staff was amazing. Friendly and helpful
The front door was locked and could only use the heavy to push revolving door
The cleanliness.

Location was great and price wasn’t bad for the stay. Room was decently clean
Spa wasn’t open at all. We were told roof top was open until 11, then we rushed back from dinner to grab a drink up there to be told they shut the elevators down at 10 to go up there. To me that means then we should be told “it closes at 10.” I had bought an extra day with my Hilton direct membership and requested an upgrade for the first night. The check in person pretended to give an upgrade but he gave us the exact same room that I was assigned when I could’ve done my check in through the app. I thought that was weird. Like just say no up front instead of playing on the computer pretending to upgrade us
The room was extremely beautiful and spacious. I had a king suite and it was like a studio apartment. The staff were nice and responsive. Everything went well and I would like to visit again
I do not like the fact that hotel guest did not have access to an event that was happening on the rooftop on new year day. I had plans to visit the rooftop because it was my husband’s birthday and wasn’t made aware of this information until the day of. Also, it took almost an hour to get our vehicle from valet and for damn near $90 I think it could be much quicker.
Great location! Walking distance to a lot of attractions
Bella y encantadora ciudad. Que me gustaría visitar nuevamente
Excellent place.
My wife and I appreciate the room upgrade made by Beatrice! She made our check in experience seamlessly and memorable thank you!
Very close to Chicago Theater, shopping, and restaurants.

What guests love
Areas to consider
Cleanliness
8.6/10Mostly praised as clean (multiple mentions of 'clean room' and 'rooms are clean and comfortable') but isolated issues noted (old/stained carpet in one review).
Service
10/10Consistently strong staff feedback (front desk supervisor, Beatriz, Milthon and many mentions of friendly/professional staff); a few isolated service lapses (check-in wifi explanation, one incident with a locked-out teen) do not outweigh overwhelmingly positive comments.
Location
10/10Repeatedly highlighted as excellent/prime: walkable, near shopping and transit, rooftop views and central position praised across many reviews.
Room Quality
8.7/10Rooms described as comfortable and in some cases spacious, but several maintenance issues were reported (lamp and USB outlets not working, bathroom door sticking, beat-up bed frame, small room size in some mentions).
Amenities
8.6/10Rooftop and restaurant praised, but multiple guests reported elevator outages, valet delays, steamer not working and some missing in-room conveniences (mirror/power).
Value for Money
7.5/10Several guests explicitly said price felt high for the quality; complaints about valet fees and 'breakfast included' not being honored lowered perceived value.
Food and Beverage
9.1/10Restaurant and breakfast service received positive shout-outs (staff like Milthon) though a few reviewers noted issues with what 'breakfast included' actually provided or limited menu options.
Overall Experience
9.5/10Majority of reviews describe an excellent or amazing stay and willingness to return/recommend; a mix of logistical/maintenance negatives tempered an otherwise very positive overall impression.
