The room was clean, spacious, nicely designed. Somebody thought very carefully about the electronics people use these days as the room and the restaurant, but particularly the room had a number of well placed sockets. The breakfast was not overwhelming, but had good choices. Some nice parks and supermarket not far away.

The staff were polite

The breakfast was cold and the only cups available were paper cups.

Good location, room was spacious and well appointed. Good breakfast and easy check in and check out. Had a fridge, iron/ironing board and full coffee making facilities in my room. Didn’t look tired, looked new and very clean.

Firstly could not park, very few places for a hotel this size, parked in drop off to book in, mentioned it was our first time in Stevenage, told it will be your last as there is nothing in Stevenage, then told to park across the street in a very open public car park and walk back, not possible as this was on a dual carriage way and the underpass was flooded, as I have mobility problems I was unable to walk the length of the dual carriage way and cross and walk all the way back, I paid for the car park, drove back to the hotel, I told them the problem but just received a sorry about that, picked up our bags and checked out, guaranteed we will not be back and will have a long look befor ever booking Holiday Inn again

The location was perfect...very near to the town centre. Nice friendly staff who were all very welcoming with great customer service. Joseph in the catering team/restaurant was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were nice and comfy. Overall great value for money... I'd definitely come back for a stay!

My stay was unfortunately affected by an unsatisfactory experience at reception. I arrived around 12:45 and approached the front desk, where two young receptionists were present. The one who assisted me (named: Xxxxssa) gave me a noticeably cold and unwelcoming reception, especially after seeing that my reservation was made through Booking.com. Her manner with other guests was clearly different. She informed me that check in was at 14:00 — which is correct — and asked me to wait in the seating area until then. However, despite the lobby being quiet and not busy at all, she did not call us for check in even after 14:08. I had to return to the desk with my wife to ask again before she finally started the process. During check in, she explained the hotel facilities in an exaggerated, almost patronising way, as if it were my first time ever staying in a hotel. This was uncomfortable and inappropriate, and I had to interrupt her to clarify that I am a frequent traveller. When I reached my room (404), I found the desk surface unclean, with visible cup marks. After I called reception to report it, the same receptionist disappeared entirely from the situation. Another receptionist — who had a very good attitude — came to the room with the housekeeping supervisor, cleaned the area, apologised, and even offered to change the room. I initially declined due to tiredness, but later she changed the room because the bathroom lock was not working. Despite the generally warm and professional attitude from the rest of the staff throughout the hotel, the very first interaction left a strong negative impression. First impressions matter, and this experience makes me hesitate before booking again with this “Holiday Inn” chain.

The staff were amazing and the food was excellent.

Staff attention /service and room cleaniliness

I was pleasantly surprised by the space and modernity of our room and the comfort of the large size bed. The breakfast was excellent and well laid out. Will stay there again if in the area.

Everything was great. Room was clean and comfortable, air conditioning worked. Parking situation was very convenient being through the underpass and directly opposite hotel. Slept very well. Breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice.

The room was a good size, the bathroom was great, and everything was very clean. The room service food was very nice, too. The staff were professional and helpful.

The only complaint was the limited (and cramped) overnight parking. Oh, and one small point - to only find two tea bags in the room was a little disappointing.

Phone in room would not ring reception when button was pressed. Other room had no phone .No ironing board in our room Ate in restaurant & some of food in evening was not good . Onion rings brought to us & was visible that they were severely over cooked but still served.

Broken hairdryer. Switch broken off and circuitry visible. Would have failed any PAT test on visible inspection alone. Cleaner did dispose of it and replace (but after my hair had already dried naturally). Stevenage is not the most exciting of places.

When needing a hotel near London we normally stay in the holiday inn express but on this occasion it was not available but the holiday inn was which I knew was only a couple of minutes longer walk from the station than the express. As we arrived the receptionist was very friendly and we noticed the quality of the fixtures and fittings straight away. The room was well appointed and the air conditioning very efficient (which was good as we had been travelling all day and we stayed here to split the journey home staying here). Whilst we did not use the restaurant for an evening meal i did use the bar and the server was friendly and efficient and the drinks reasonably priced (for the London area). The bed was very comfortable and we got a really good night's sleep. The quality of all of the items for breakfast was very good and gave us a great start to the day and our last leg of our journey home. We will definitely be back

The location was close to where my work conference was being held and quick to jump on the motorway to head back to London.

I arrived late in the evening after a long work event and was already tired, but unfortunately the check-in experience was disappointing. Despite having valid ID that matched the booking, the receptionist initially questioned whether the reservation was actually for me because it had been made by my company. This made what should have been a straightforward check-in take far longer than necessary at a time when I was exhausted and simply wanted to get to my room. To make matters worse, I was allocated an accessible double room that was not properly cleaned and had a very unpleasant smell. I was told there were no standard double rooms available, even though the booking had been made in advance by my assistant. I was also concerned by an incident later that evening. After briefly leaving the hotel to get food, I returned to find a man rushing into the hotel and into the lift with me, breathing heavily and appearing to have blood on him. While I understand this may have been outside the hotel’s control, it left me feeling quite uneasy about the overall safety and security of the environment. Overall, the combination of the poor check-in experience, the condition of the room, and the unsettling incident made for a very uncomfortable stay.

There was a window for fresh air. The towels were folded nicely. There was an iron in the room.

This wasn't a good experience. On arrival, the parking was full. The bed was uncomfortable and pillows were not very nice. The milk had gone off in the room and so I couldn't make tea. I phoned down to reception and they wanted me to come down myself to pick up more milk. The VAT receipt did not match the price I paid for the room. So this will causes issues for my expenses. A list of small things that add up to a poor experience.

Really nice staff but they can't help with air conditioning🤣 We report that problem 3 times , 26° all night in room, window open, IMPOSSIBLE TO SLEEP. Nobody coming to our room check what is wrong and they no offer different room. In the morning we asking about some refunds ore something similar? They told us to we need contact with website where we booking room because they can't do anything 🤣

Car park was an additional £12 on site in an incredibly limited car park, or £7 somewhere off site. This wasn’t clear on booking.com before. If you parked your car and paid, that didn’t confirm you your space, you couldn’t really move your car again and guarantee a space, which is steep at £12 a night
