Very tired room bath stained shower no hot water only cold breakfast was awful

Good location with easy access from motorway. Generally comfortable feeling.

Rooms and public areas look a little tired with worn carpets and dated décor. Issues arose with faulty toilet in our room which was not able to flush properly on the second day we were relocated to a better room after first being offered a room with similar issues with toilet ( handle loose and hanging out of wall).Think that their is a general problem with bathroom plumbing. Co- visitor also advised that there was issues with the shower and toilet in there room also.

I had a great nites sleep plus it turned out the hotel was only 10 mins from football ground which was great for my stay.

Ideal location for our stay due to a family bereavement. Stayed 2 nights.

Very peaceful, quiet rooms, I slept very well. The food in the restaurant is superb!

Was during a heat wave and would have been nice to have air conditioning but fan sufficed.

Interesting architecturally a 15th century timber framed Inn , which gives out a welcoming feeling and gives you a cosy feeling.

Enjoyable stay. Accommodation from outside looks to be dated but rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Bathrooms could do with being updated. Nice looking Indian restaurant within premises. It was busy but did not eat there as my fellow golfers wanted to eat elsewhere which was dissapointjng as I do like Indian food. Ideal location with adequate free parking.

Great value, excellent staff. Room a little but clean and comfy bed. I have never had such a stock of tea coffee and milk as here.we stopped two nights and on the first morning there was a bag hanging on the door full of tea coffee and milk and biscuits . There was a fan left in our room, very welcome and worked a treat. You can walk to knebworth from here, a jaunt, but can be done as if going for. Concert, it’s hard to get a cab. Would recommend and stop again. We were room 102, nice and shaded in this heat

A pleasant welcome from the reception desk staff. I cannot comment on the meals as I did not eat at the hotel. The old part of the hotel was beautiful.

As I'm usually travelling some distance being able to check in late if the traffic is bad is essential. Comfortable and clean, everything worked as it should.

the room was not very clean .. there was blood and mold on the sheets and when our colleague notified reception , they offered her clean sheets and she had to change them herself ! I e-mailed them to share her experience at the hotel as she was travelling alone and asked her if they could change her room, and i was sent a standard reply . We followed up with another e-mail , asking to change her room and an offer of compensation , but have not received a reply yet! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Stayed here several times when working in the area. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Service is excellent, very friendly and attentive, and you are made to feel valued as a customer. Food is great too - breakfast very good, but the Nirvana Indian restaurant is absolutely brilliant! All in all, good value, if this hotel is available I will always stay here.

I arrived quite late but received a friendly welcome nonetheless. Good product for the price point. Importantly, the room was comfortable and clean. Regular bus services to and from Stevenage railway station stop right outside.

Breakfast. Obviously made to a price with cheap ingredients and the Coronet branded condiments are absolutely awful - gelatinous and chemical tasting.

The room / bed was relatively comfy.

Unable to connect to the wifi (Required for work, One reason this hotel was booked was for the wifi).

I've had really good experiences staying at the Roebuck Inn, overall the experience this time was good but I was unable to lower the heat on the radiator in my room as the adjusting knob was broken. Other than that no complaints!

Really friendly welcome on arrival. Room was clean, tidy and spacious. I asked for an extra blanket and it was bought straight up. We had dinner in the Indian restaurant on site which was excellent. The beds were really comfortable and it was so quiet. Had a great sleep. Shower wasn't very powerful but there was plenty of hot water. Breakfast was great. Although decor was a little tired, we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Location suited me as easy access to centre of Stevenage centre with good bus links. Very relaxing, quite and well ventilated room

The restaurant was nice in the evening & open late which is great as I didn't get back from work until 8:30. The food was lovely and the service fast which was great after a long day, I wanted a quick bite and to get to bed. The bed was comfy and it was very quiet in the room. Easy check in & check out. Staff were all really friendly and helpful.

There were no plug sockets next to the bed to charge your phone which was a little annoying, as a solo female traveller, I like to keep my phone close and was unable to charge it overnight. Even if they could put an extension cable there. When I pulled out the bedside tables looking for a plug socket, they needed to be hoovered behind. Whilst it was clean, it feels like a little more attention to detail needs to be paid. Free Wifi was very bad, I couldn't even access a browser & I was hoping to work from the room in the morning.

The cold water tap in the basin could not be turned on. The toilet took several flushes which is embarrassing if you are leaving early in the morning and in a hurry. Noisy bar area.

We used this venue after a day in London and it was very satisfactory in all respects.

Great place! The owners are wonderful, and the food is great! Its no hotel, but that's the reason I stayed there so I enjoyed the atmosphere and proximity to GSK!

Very good breakfast, beautiful cooked and good quality ingredients. The hotel has an old world charm. We would definitely stay again in the future.

The fact it had an onsite restaurant so didn’t have to travel for food. Onsite parking

So noisy both inside and outside, no sound proofing and none of doors had soft close mechanisms so everything slammed. The only meal I ate Monday was at the onsite Indian restaurant. Found it to be expensive and service charge automatically applied. The food quality wasn’t great and since that meal I have had severe upset stomach. Shame as on paper looked a great place to stay.

Location perfect; very friendly staff

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. One of them, noting our interest in the building and its history, took the trouble to point out historic documents on display. We had a very interesting discussion about the Indian sauces that came me starter too.

There was only one small problem, and that was dealt with quickly and with apologies - a dish of garlic mushrooms was cold, but the staff were efficiency itself in rectifying it and making sure it was re-served to our satisfaction. Small mistakes can happen in any establishment - the important thing is how it's dealt with, and we were more than happy with that.
