Our own chalet. While a bit dated it was comfortable. Bedding etc. top notch The grounds and the view were exceptional. Staff at the bar/restaurant/front desk were exceptional. Housekeeping staff member was friendly and inquired on how our stay was going and how our dog was enjoying his travels.
A bit dated. As with anything as it ages there are things that just don't come out clean anymore. We did not feel it was dirty by any means, but the chalets do need an update. We had a pet friendly room and have learned to expect that we may get an older room. Not a deal breaker, just an FYI
Clean and in a good location.
Ate in the restaurant had a buffet diner, disappointed not hot enough, and very basic not worth the money.
Nichts
Es ist extrem in die Jahre gekommen. Zimmer haben feuchten, fauligen Geruch.
Very comfortable bed and great view. Staff very pleasant
Room and bathroom very dated. Only plastic cups and disposable coffee cups. No glassware. Laundry expensive. No smart television. Room musky smell.
The location is pretty good. The room is big
The room has musty smell and a letdown.
was charged twice same night but dont know if recieved credit back for 1night and deposit
billing
Spacious comfortable room. Lovely setting near the water. Helpful staff. Would return!
Nice location and beautiful views of the lake
Low water pressure, toilet too small. Pillows were a bit stiff
Customer service was exceptional from the front desk to service at breakfast. V friendly and helpful. Location is good too, with a lake view and a short walk to places to eat. The town of Baddeck is worth a visit, esp down by the water
Decor in the rooms & bathrooms could do with an update, they looked pretty ‘tired’.
Great location. Lovely big room and sea view with balcony. Swimming pool, restaurant and laundrette
The only slight annoying thing was we could hear those staying up above us and in the rooms either side. This wouldn’t stop us from staying again
We only stayed 1 night but the room was clean and the beds comfortable. The breakfast service wasn't available but they gladly provided options for us to go to.
Not much
Super expensive. It needs to be demolished as it’s so old fashioned. Invest some money in it!!! In the meantime, people should avoid it.
Très belle vue sur le lac Petit déjeuner très agréable avec belle vue sur le lac
Pool, easy check in, restaurant on site
Large deposit (refunded when you check out)
I stayed at the Silver Dart Lodge for one night in early June before a day out driving the Cabot Trail. Check-in was quick. The restaurant was not open that day (I think it was a one-off situation), but I was able to run up to a local pizza place. The hotel is comprised of a few buildings with parking close to your unit. It was early evening when I arrived, but I was able to walk around the property a bit. It is on a bluff overlooking the lake. Overall nice grounds, but I was not there long enough to enjoy them because I left early in the morning. My room was on the first floor in the middle of the main lodge, which is actually down a few steps from the parking lot. The room was in good shape and had most everything you would need including a mini fridge, but it does not have a microwave. I liked the large back deck overlooking the lake. This is a good location and a fine hotel to base your New Breton adventures; I would stay here again if I was in the area.
Lovely location and views over St Andrews passage. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Good parking.
Bathroom. Nowhere to put toiletries. Nowhere to hang hand towel by basin. One of our two rooms had ongoing problems with Internet which kept dropping out.
A step back in time. This lodge has a picture perfect view of the lake. The grounds are immaculate. The staff is helpful and friendly. There is a restaurant and bar on site.
Location was very good.
Food net served every day and wifi was intermittent
We had a nice stay in the Silver Dart one bedroom McNeil House suites. Clean and spacious. Odd bathroom setup, but this was not a big issue. Very close to town, so able to walk everywhere. The front desk hosts were friendly and provided good info about the area. The little giftshop in the lobby was quite reasonably priced. We did not eat here, so have no info about the restaurant. We did not have kids with us, but it would be a wonderful family place. Lots of lawn, a playground and nice pool. Laundry available for guest uses was clean and well maintained. We were glad that we chose this place while in Baddeck.
Excellent staff and great location
Facility getting a bit dated
The staff were very friendly. A better tv streamer would be nice.
Très beau, confortable et propre, personnel accueillant et gentil.
The silver dart is one of my favorite places to stay . I’ve been coming to Cape Breton to drive the Cabot Trail for 40 plus years . The Silver Dart has never disappointed. Friendly staff and great food . Can’t wait till next year !
We were here only one night but very much enjoyed Baddeck and our stay at Silver Dart Lodge. The staff were all extremely helpful and accomodating. We sat in the bar area which had a pleasant view to do some work. I wish there were more time to explore the bikes, trails, etc. I would stay here again.
I didn’t like that the room smelled like a strong cleaner or insecticide. Also, the room seemed unprepared for guests. No coffee, no mugs, things not plugged in.
The room and the staff were great. We took advantage of the heated pool. Loved being able to walk to most places.
Great place.
The room was not clean enough (too dusty or other air quality issues) so I got strong allergies and have to take medicines during the stay
Good place to stop for a night. Chalet amenities are not new, but in good condition. Prices are fair.
The Silver Dart was a great choice for our 5-day stay on Cape Breton. Baddeck is centrally located, near Cabot Trail, the Alexander Graham Bell museum and an excellent ceilidh that runs every night of the week.
Lovely property and amazing water views!
Good place to stay
Beautiful views of the lake, main room was very nice. However, the chalets have no sound attenuation between them. I could hear the family next door, and feel their kangaroo of a child jumping until 10pm and starting again at 6am. The bathroom smelled of urine, it needs updated as does the kitchenette.
We received a warm welcome from the reception staff. Didn’t meet any other hotel staff. Silver Dart Lodge is showing its age in a few ways. The exterior woodwork is beginning to peel and the floorboards on the balconies were occasionally worn and needed new paint. The screen doors onto the lake-facing balcony were wonderfully old fashioned but very noisy to open and close. The room itself looked tired and in need of some TLC. Wallpaper starting to peel, old fashioned bathroom decor, low ceiling that felt claustrophobic. There are not enough powerpoints in the room and they are all hard to reach, hiding behind furniture or down very low on the wall. There was no grab handle in the bathroom, making it harder to get in and out of the, fortunately, low silled bath. We spent two nights and enjoyed the views from the balcony outside our room, second floor in the main lodge. The bed was comfortable and we were warm enough with enough quilts and pillows. There were enough towels and toiletries provided in the bathroom. Since we were out and about all day, we didn’t need much more than a good bed and a hot shower. Recent reviews about the breakfast put us off so we ate elsewhere. Overall, it is a pleasant enough place to stay.
Stayed here one night on our leaf peeping trip with our parents. We were pleasantly surprised by this quaint, old-fashioned feeling, “on the old highway” type lodge/hotel. Lovely spacious property, comfy beds, beautiful view, amazing breakfast for a great price, only $18 each for a buffet style breakfast with the best lake view. The ladies at the front desk were very knowledgeable about the town and very friendly. 10/10 would recommend and we’re definitely coming back next year!
Friendly staff, good bar, room is old but clean. Driving distance to my favorite hiking trails.
Clean large room
Staying here was a treat. Our room had the most beautiful view of the Bras d'Or, as do all the rooms. We were on the second floor of the main lodge with a shared balcony that was actually very private. We had a large, comfortable, king-size bed. The room was well-appointed and clean. The Lodge is located close to the center of town in a quiet area. Parking was plentiful and secure. The bar and restaurant were comfortable and welcoming. The staff was so friendly and pleasant. Particularly Jill and Jo, who managed the restaurant and bar with tireless humor, hard work, friendliness, and professionalism.
Great property and a wonderful staff!
Didnt eat at the restaurant as we were out driving the cabot trail. Great take off and landing spot for this.
Amazing stay in Baddeck! Everything from the staff to the (optional for purchase) to-go picnic lunches was perfect! Location is great for multi-day Cape Breton trip, though a little bit of a drive each day. Beautiful and well maintained property as well.
This property was just okay but furnishings need to be updated/looking tired. Needed ear plugs to sleep as I could hear person next door (adjoining room) snoring. Room could have been cleaner - random can left on balcony. Location in Baddeck as a gateway to Cabot Trail was great but not really walkable as on a busy road. Breakfast buffet - at an extra charge of $19 a person - was okay, not great. Some fresh fruit would have been nice.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had such a beautiful stay at the Silverdart Lodge. My friend and I were riding our bikes around the Cabot Trail when heavy rain left us stranded for three days. The Silverdart Lodge and their staff went above and beyond—truly amazing, incredibly accommodating, and always so friendly. The lodge provided comfort and care just when we needed it most, and we felt completely looked after. I would highly recommend staying here anytime, whether you’re exploring the Cabot Trail or just looking for a welcoming place to relax.
Staff were very helpful. Lovely dining experience. Property and grounds well maintained.
Great staff, great views, great restaurant
BREAKFAST WAS OK BUT EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT WAS OFFERED
Excellent
Beautiful location, overlooking the grounds and ocean. The only complaint I have is the TV in our room was terrible, picture was awful, not clear and difficult to watch!
The room was large and very comfortable - very much like a cute cottage. Picnic tables outside of the chalet was a nice touch. We appreciated having access to coin-operated laundry facilities onsite. Staff was super friendly and helpful. They recommended the Ceilidh Gathering which was definitely a highlight of our trip. We would definitely consider staying here again.
The location is convenient and walkable to various restaurants in the town. The property is relatively old so the plumbing system may not be as good as expected.
The staff are amazing. So kind and friendly. Just phenomenal.
Older property which could probably use some renovations but the wonderful staff and location made up for it all. Good for a night or two. Good beds and very clean. Would recommend and stay again
It was a lovely hotel, they accommodated a room switch which was due to taste rather than having anything to do with the room provided. Restaurant is lovely, as is the view. It's an older hotel but rooms were in good shape, clean and comfortable. Staff extremely friendly. We enjoyed our stay.
Very family friendly, great trails to walk with pups! Pet friendly! Staff excellent! Too S okay, a little aged and fan was dusty
Quaint but really wonderful stay. Good food and excellent service
Very quiet location with an amazing view. The Chalet we stayed in was spacious and very clean although a little dated. Staff were so friendly and the buffet breakfast was great. The property is about a 10-15 walk into Baddeck which is charming and has great restaurant options.
Easy check in, nice property, convenient to local attractions, shops and restaurants
Great stay in a beautiful location. Only downside is that it's an older building and noise from upper units can be a bit much depending on who is up there. For 2 nights we had people above us who walked around forever, or so it felt.
Nice view, convenient resturant, helpful staff, but room needed upgrade especially the carpet
Friendly staff.
Spacious & clean rooms. Excellent view of the lake. Excellent front desk & restaurant staff.
Excellent food and beds were very comfortable.
Had a nice stay here. A bit dated, but was quiet and safe. Stunning views. Enjoyed the lounge where we played cards. We were never served/approached while there which would have been nice. Love how close it is to dining and shops in Baddeck.
Lovely older property. Some units are newer, less drafty. Wonderful view of the lake. On site dining available, walking distance or short drive to other venues.
We arrived early but room not ready and no effort was made to prioritize room - toured the excellent Alexander Graham Bell museum and stopped for a drink at the freight shed (very nice) before returning at 2:00.. still not ready so did load of wash in antiquated but working washing machine for $5 and checked out advertised free bikes (too rusty and no brakes😜) Room was adequate with comfortable beds but smelled somewhat musty so opened both doors to enable air flow! When checking in… bill presented was inflated by $100 but corrected when questioned with a comment of “good eye!” Looked like nice restaurant but we did not partake in breakfast or dinner and left early to travel the Cabot Trail!
We loved the Silver Dart, kind of a throwback motel/lodge. The beds, pillows etc were very comfortable. Room was a good size with great views of the water and very clean. The Adirondack chairs on the lawn made it feels so homelike. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay again, we were sad to leave.
Had a great time and enjoyed our time at Silver Dart Lodge. The room was spotless, beautiful views, the breakfast buffet was a bit better than most and dinner was excellent. We would stay again.
Very clean, beautiful view of the lake. Highly recommend. Get a room with a view!
Room size was decent and view was nice
Supper was excellent in the dining room.
?
Very warm welcome by Ann with lots of suggestions for around town. Clean and quiet large toom
Checking in was smooth & pleasant. Room was clean & comfortable and well appointed. Room & washroom amenities were more than adequate. Would stay here again. Recommended.
Great location and view. We stayed in a Chalet due to the fact that we had a dog. The Chalets are very old and outdated and you can hear everything from the next door neighbors as they ajoin each other.
The Silver Dart was very nice—— good location. Enjoyed the view from our room and liked the chairs out front.
As others have stated, this is an older property and could really use an update. We were in a lower room in the main lodge and although the room was clean, the carpet smelled musty and everything just felt tired. Bathroom super cold and uninviting. Towels never dried throughout the day. One of the windows in the bedroom was missing a lock. We did not use the pool but did not look particularly inviting either. Gym consisted of 3 cardio machines. This was a 2 night stay so fine for us . Would not want to stay much longer than that. We had dinner in the restaurant one night and one breakfast. Breakfast was only buffet and was adequate for $18.00. Dinner was also decent although extremely busy in the dining room with a tour bus ( or 2 ) crowd. Had an issue with the wine my partner ordered that was not rectified so he paid for a glass of wine that he had one sip of. It sat there all through the meal and was not acknowledged by the server although he had told her it was too sweet and tasted like apple juice. Huge bright side were the wonderful ladies at the front desk! They were excellent! Quick, efficient check in and out and just generally lovely each time we spoke to them. Parking was also very easy .
Old, small rooms in desperate need of major update. Terrible bed. Do not recommend!
Nice property, a little dated .
Room is big but a bit dated.
Property is old and rundown. Can definitely do with some serious renovations.
Clean room, great sized room. Dining room on premises
Old fashioned lodge and we stayed in the main lodge. At first we thought it needed refurbishment but the bathroom was totally brand new and there was new carpet in the main bedroom, but all in a retro style. Staff were friendly, food was average. Nice view of the lake. All in all a good stay.
The room was clean, bed was comfortable, nice pillows. The carpet had a very musty smell. -If the hotel is not going to provide maid service, leave more towels in the room at least more hand towels.
10 minute walk to town center with lots of restaurants & live music
Overall a good place to stay while in Baddeck
The staff were very nice and helpful. The property was beautiful and very convenient. The rooms were a little dated but clean. I would recommend this lodge to anyone.
Very damp and musty smelling 😕
Easy access to Baddeck and the Cabot Trail
Location
Excellent staff
Very nice rooms at affordable prices, some outdated equipment but nothing bad or dangerous. Would not hesitate to book again!
