Room had a refrigerator
Room was more like a motel Small Tiny bathroom The hot water handle screeched so loudly Room 10- We asked to have maintenance look at it and they said it was fine as long as you held it up, but it didn’t matter because it wasn’t fixed So loud, it was scary and the people staying next to us heard it as well
Staff, Location, cleanliness
Location
The room is decent. The beds and pillows are good. No elevators and everything is outdated and old. The shower is not so good. We had a terrible time using the shower fixtures because they were so old.
The food and service at The Lakeside restaurant.
Our room was outdated, disgusting smell , broken plaster on the walls, mouldy bathroom tiles, damp carpet, screen door ripped, cobwebs in the corner of the wall. We were really looking forward to staying at your resort. We were very disappointed and will not be back nor would we recommend people to stay there! :(
the beauty and care of the grounds
use of keys that seemed like they were easy to lose felt like there should be something on the key to help make it bigger and more noticeable or they should switch to key cards.
Location
The room is outdated as I assumed most area are. The room smelled so horrible from a deodorizer or cleaning product I gagged. I had to put perfume on and spray my pillow and sheets to be able to sleep the smell was that strong.
We stayed in the Argyle block. We thought it was rather dated, you needed a key to get in the room. It was clean, the bathroom was clean and small, but could do with a tidy up. We, didn’t notice any noise issues. We, had supper and breakfast in the restaurant on site. Which is alongside the lake, there is a small patio outside. We sat out, and enjoyed a drink, we were not bothered by any bugs. The drinks were on the expensive side, but I suppose you are paying for the privilege of being there. A very short walk to the local legion, for cheap drinks and help support them. The legion had the jukebox playing the night we were there. They is a large outdoor patio too, we never used it though. There are other restaurants and bars nearby, within walking distance.
Our group of nine booked three rooms at Inverary Resort several months in advance. At the time of booking, we specifically asked whether the resort was pet-friendly, as one family would be travelling with a small dog. We were told that pets were welcome, there would be a $25 cleaning fee, and that we might be assigned to a different building. That seemed perfectly reasonable and is standard practice at many hotels. When we arrived, we checked in with the front desk without issue. Nothing was mentioned about the dog. About an hour later, however, a staff member came to our room and immediately accused us of trying to sneak the dog onto the property. He insisted the entire resort was not pet-friendly, despite the information on the resort’s website and the assurances we had received when making our reservation months earlier. Rather than apologizing for what was clearly a communication error on the resort’s part, his approach was confrontational and dismissive. He told us they would “let” us stay and then proceeded to remove all of the blankets from our room. Later that evening, we encountered the same employee driving a golf cart while we were walking our dog. He gave us a hostile look, made a comment to a colleague, and the interaction reinforced how unwelcome we felt. This was especially disappointing because we had just finished a long day of travel and were looking forward to relaxing. Instead, we spent the evening feeling uncomfortable and as though we had done something wrong, despite following the instructions we had been given. For context, our dog is a 15-pound, non-shedding Cavapoo. We travel frequently and have stayed at many other accommodations throughout Cape Breton, including Cabot in Inverness the previous year. Those properties welcomed both us and our dog warmly, even providing a dog bed, treats, and a small welcome gift. We certainly weren’t expecting that level of service here, but we did expect to be treated with courtesy and respect. The other disappointment was breakfast. Given the price, we expected a much higher-quality offering. Instead, it was comparable to the complimentary breakfasts that many hotels provide free of charge, making it poor value for the cost. The resort itself has a beautiful setting and plenty of potential, but hospitality is about making guests feel welcome. Unfortunately, our experience with the way this situation was handled overshadowed our stay. I hope management reviews both their pet policy and how staff are trained to address guests, because no one should leave feeling as unwelcome as we did.
Le site à l’extérieur était charmeur. Belle vue!
La chambre devrait être rafraîchi à la grandeur. Le lit n’était pas du tout confortable. Le fond du bain semblait avoir été repeint mais ça s’ecaillait. L’odeur dans la chambre était désagréable.
We were warmly welcomed at Inverary during a busy Eastern summer evening. A beautiful location, clean rooms and wonderful staff. Our buffet breakfast was an excellent start to our day. We thoroughly appreciated the charm and hospitality. Thank you for a memorable stay.
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in the Argyle Lodge on the ground floor in a dog-friendly room. The room was musty but okay. The bathroom is a disgrace. The grout in the tile floor is actually missing in some spots and dirty in others. The bathroom needs an overhaul- adult size commode, new shower faucets, etc. We would never stay here again.
Beautiful grounds and lakeside
We loved our stay here and regretted not staying longer. A beautiful property with spacious, lovely rooms. Grounds are fantastic. Restaurants have good selection and prices. Easy walk to shops and restaurants. Will recommend to others and hope to return.
This resort was our last of 3 on a week long tour of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. It was our least favorite of the 3. The buildings look decent enough from the outside, but the room we were in was not the most comfortable. There were "nightstands" attached to the walls by the beds. They were too close to the beds and both my husband and I managed to smack into them on more than one occasion. There were no drawers to unpack clothing, so we were forced to "live out of our suitcases" for the time we were there. The landscaping was beautiful, but the maintenance of the roads was terrible. Holes in the pavement that were covered with rocks that disappeared with any rain or wind. Pathways that were gravel instead of solid. The staff at breakfast were woefully unprepared for the number of people that were staying at the resort. To finish it off, when I got home, I found a strange charge on my card that I thought was from the hotel. When I spoke to someone about it, while we were able to determine that the charge came from the precious hotel I was staying at, the person I was speaking to on the phone was defensive and combative. I would not recommend staying here.
Lovely welcome. Great room and loved the pool facilities.
Liked everything.
Location, spacious rooms. Loved the large bathroom and bath tub
Nothing
A Celebration of Nature was held here this weekend. The management and staff went over and above the usual, to make our conference a great success. Each staff person was always ready to help in every way possible. The MacGregor Centre was a perfect venue. We had a display area ready wìth table clithes, plugs, wi-fi and on site technical support. Coffee and tea break with delicious oatcakes were provided, as were delicious boxed lunches. The reception food on Friday was healty and creative- we especially loved the scallops and crisps. The Saturday night banquet food was excellent! Breakfasts at the restaurant were outstanding both days. My husband and I are staying an extra night because the food is so good, the room (#53) is clean and comfortable and staff are ALL so friendly and helpful. I rarely give a 5 rating but did. The one thing I might request is for a hand rail on all steps. The scenery and choice of activities are great. Thanks to all who work here.
We have stayed before in the main house. This time we were in another building that had been renovated - the room was fine. We had dinner in the restaurant - we ordered only starters as we wanted to enjoy the dessert. When we went to order dessert we were told they had nothing on the menu - and could only offer us a gluten free brownie - perhaps they could have told us the menu wasn't complete and they didn't have dessert - we would have ordered a main course instead. Otherwise the stay was fine.
Decent size room.
Needs updating. Crack in the sink. No usb ports!
L'accueil courtois, l'emplacement et la tranquillité.
Rien. Tout était super.
L’accueil, la grande propreté des lieux, les chambres luxueuses.
Breakfast was great. Meal was fine the evening before and staff was friendly and helpful
Shower taps were not working correctly how and cold were opposite and. Little difficult to get regulated warm water
The breakfast buffet was very nice with attentive, competent staff. The short walk from our room to the breakfast buffet location was pleasant and the property was very clean.
We were originally booked into "The Old Barn", which did not meet our expectations. The front desk staff was very eager to rectify that and the move into the main building room was appreciated as a much better room. We found the food and drinks in the pub area to be only average, for the cost.
Everything was beautiful. The staff was so friendly. The room and property exceeded my expectations. I wish I could have stayed longer and will be back!!
We had high hopes for our long-planned visit but was a bit disappointed. The entire place is in need of TLC. Our building and rooms were a little sad and shabby, and the rooms themselves certainly didn't have any extras (like a photo on a wall, for example). We were booked in for three nights, but the breakfast on site was so underwhelming we cancelled our dinner reservation and had all our meals elsewhere.
On reading the reviews I was a bit wary about our potential stay but it turned out to be much better than the reviews had led me to expect. On the positives it is a really excellent location with beautiful views and easy walking distance to the Main Street. Particularly useful at this stage in the trip to have a launderette nearby. Plenty to do in the surrounding areas. We had one minor problem which was fixed really quickly Excellent meal in the bar and looked after by a friendly server Jo. There was also live music in the bar. Had a good swim in the pool and a nice walk in the grounds. One negative for me was I had three flights of stairs to walk up to our room and although not disabled i would recommend that anyone that may struggle with this to see if they have ground level accommodation. I would have no problem staying at the Inverary resort again.
I was recently at a massive family wedding at the resort in Sept. 2025. I was in tow with my 2-year-old son who and other family members who added a little extra "zazz" to the trip, to say the least. We were well taken care of at the restaurant, albeit busy due to the wedding guests. Upon checking out and driving home to Halifax--I my heart sank. I left my apple watch on the window sill of our cabin. I called and immediately Marina, the desk manager assured me it was turned in by the housekeeping and boxed it up in bubble wrap and sent it back to my in Halifax. I was SO grateful for her honestly and accommodation. I received my device and can't wait to go back and experience another family vacation. Thank you, Marina.
Dire. Damp , uninviting rooms with outdated decor. Restaurant breakfast and dinner was very poor. Changed rooms but was not much better. On our trip to Nova Scotia and P.E.I we were hoping that this ‘resort’ would be better than it was. Very poor
We stopped in the Old Barn. Our room was adequate but the bathroom was very small with nowhere to hang towels. The plumbing in the room was very noisy, although the water supply was hot and plentiful. The toiletries supplied were very basic, with no shower/bath gel. The floorboards in the room above were quite creaky and we could hear the occupants above moving about. We tried breakfast on our first morning and were very disappointed. There was limited food choice, it was poorly presented and the hot food we had (bacon and scrambled eggs) was overcooked. The bar area was pleasant and the staff were friendly and helpful, however overall we would not stay here again due to the room and food issues.
The area is beautiful and the resort is in a great location. We were given room 55 in the Argyle building on the main floor. The musty mildewy smell greets you as you open the door. The furniture is OLD and has def seen better days. Dresser has huge nicks and the lamps have rusty bases. The room has not see an upgrade in 30 years. The last straw was the bathtub did not drain properly, so you know the drain is clogged with hair etc. EW. We were given the “Honeymoon Suite” as an upgrade when we complained. This room has seen an upgrade in recent years, with little thought given to decor though. The living room area was basic with an aging leather sofa and fireplace. The bedroom area held a king bed and 2 nightstands. No tv or desk/dresser to put your toiletries on. The lighting in both rooms was daylight/bright LEDS allowing for zero ambiance, retina burning lol. For the price charged the feel was motel 6
Excellent staff and accomodations
Lovely position lakeside and convenient for village centre. 7/8 minutes walk Easy free parking This was probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and lack of alternative accommodation in the village was the only reason we didn’t move We thought we were walking into a 1970’s film set when we entered the room! Unbelievably dated and depressing decor Bathroom had a low walk in bath with overhead shower complete with one of those plastic curtains that sticks to your body! No room service on second day, made our own bed, had to go to reception to get replacement ‘glass ‘ and crockery in the form of cheap paper cups. Despite trying the phones numerous times, no one answered By far the worst aspects were the noise transferred from adjacent rooms particularly above and people walking along the wooden walkway outside rooms. Particularly noisy were guest with wheeled cases. Noise from above ended 2.30 am one morning and at 5.30am on two mornings with our overhead neighbours rising early ensured over three nights we hardly had any sleep Dinner one evening in the Lakeside restaurant was good. Buffet breakfast poor and service from staff who were helpful but desperately in need of training Baddeck is a lovely village in a stunning setting but don’t stay here!
This is a great property Lots of units right on the lake Great restaurants Great staff
The pub and the food at the pub was very good
Our room was a bit tight for 3 adults and 3 dogs. When we arrived, the door was already open, which concerned us. After a quick look around, we were good. I find ALL decent hotels now-a-days are overpriced
Pool, hot tub and sauna were very good. Impressive facilities in great condition on very nice grounds.
The property was in a good location for our purposes.
Everything, especially the location but exceptionally helpful staff and great food.
More and better located outlets to charge devices.
This in was a great place yo stay, the food was amazing. Staff was freindly. Rooms and shower were awesome with plenty of hot water. We have a dog, and the only complaint he had was the grass was so well cut there was none for him to eat. Other than that it was excellent!!! Will definitely come back.
Location
No Sportsnet on tv!
Room needs to be updated
Cream of chicken soup was outstanding
Bed was comfortable
Housed in swimming pool block which stank of chlorine. Room was poorly equiped with tea/coffee. Asked after ist night for supplies which did not materilise. ate in restaurant on first night which was chaos due to coach party getting their booking wrong. Both of us had lobster rolls which were stale . Frozen reheated lobster and reheated chips. Very disappointing. Carpets in room and halls needed replacing and very tatty. whole place needed refitting. No lifts and no offer to help with bags.
Resort is very dated
Clean, beautiful, lots of water activities and ebike rental, safe
Beautiful views and area but owner was not a friendly or people person at all. He did not allow us to have a later check out by an hour and stay until noon. We had arrived at 6pm the previous day. We were located on the second floor and there are no elevators and they did not offer help to carry our suitcases up the stairs and so I put my back out.
My stay had a mix of pros and cons. The lobby and room had a noticeable musty smell and felt outdated and worn. Unfortunately, the room wasn't very quiet; I could hear everything from the room above, including running water and creaky floorboards, which made it difficult to relax. The check-in process also felt impersonal and lacked a welcoming feel. On a positive note, the bed was very comfortable and the in-room coffee was a nice touch. The pool was also a good size and an enjoyable feature.
When we arrived in our room you could see dust particles in the air! There was stuff on the carpet. I picked up three items and put on the dresser where you could write your name in the dust! Cobweb in the shower and water temperature was inconsistent. I asked for the room to be cleaned and when we came back I found the same item on the floor. I took a facecloth and ran it along the window sill and it was black! This was in the Glasgow section.
Location was beautiful, didnt have breakfast, supper was good, convention hall was nice
rooms were dated (no value for money) not very sound proof lots of walking (should offer golf cart shuttle) lack of parking near room
Property very nice. Food in Narrows very good. Bathroom needs renovating. People above a little noisy. TV old and limited channels specially sports. Comfy beds.
Beautiful property, a unique resort. Dinningroom was wonderful and food was cooked perfectly.
The property was beautiful and right on the water. We launched our kayaks at their waterfront, The rooms could use some updating. It was a tub shower instead of stand up shower.
The rooms are dated and there is stale smell , bad air circulation and noise AC.
The rooms were smelly and damp. Very old furniture
Just stayed at the Inverary Resort in a “new” room in the main lodge building. The room was very well decorated and thoroughly up to date. It had a modern bathroom with a walk in shower, big screen tv, and two comfy sitting chairs along with a very comfortable king size bed. The room itself is very large compared to your average hotel room. The check in process is very smooth and efficient, and James at the front desk provided us with excellent service. We initially booked a “ traditional” room which was located in ‘The Old Barn’ building and these rooms are very very rustic. I can’t imagine what an “original” tier room would look like given how dated the traditional tier room felt. Again shout out to James for finding us a different room when the property was so busy. The complimentary breakfast was just ok but it is nice to have the convenience of not having to leave the property for breakfast. Overall, the Inverary Resort is a nice place to stay if you are doing the Cabot Trail.
Dinner at the Lakeside restaurant was delicious.
1st-Our reservation wasn’t in their system. 2nd- we were put in a dirty handicapped room. The bathroom was dirty, dental floss and glob of hair on floor, rusted hand rails and lamps, weird hooks in ceilings , black spots in toilet bowl and TV wasn’t hooked up to cable.
Well kept property. Beautiful location overlooking lake. Live music at the main lodge.
Staff is very friendly and helpful. Location is great. Rooms however are slightly dated but clean.
Very nice property in Beddeck at the start of the Cabot Trail. Our building and room was a little dated. Booked a double bed room and there was about a 10 inch spot between the bed and the wall with the bathroom door. Otherwise, would’ve liked to stay longer. Peaceful place surrounded by the lake and lots of green space.
Friendly staff, clean!!
Lovely location
Didn’t like the room selected for us.
Everything was amazing
Friendly staff and very clean
Gorgeous spot
The walls were very thin - we could hear the couple down the hall having sex as we were leaving 😳
Location
Room noisy. Poor sound insulation. Could hear clearly neighbouring rooms. Difficult to sleep. Inflexible check in..3pm. No exceptions.
Staff was super accomodating. We were able to check in early and with our small dog. Rented paddle boards from the friendly staff at the waterfront and had a blast paddling out to the island. Even saw a seal. Would recommed highly.
Front desk service was very friendly, funny amd helpful Cafe bar had good food and service although they were run off their feet. Breakfast could have been warmer and fresher but it was near the end of the buffet: service was good there too though
Great location.
We brought three young kids and were placed in a lower cottage directly beneath another unit. The ceiling was paper-thin. Every step and thud from above shook our space. On the first night, before 11 pm, we asked the night supervisor, “James,” to intervene. He refused, telling us that the guests upstairs had just arrived and “have rights.” We complained three separate times about the noise. No one did anything. Our kids couldn’t sleep, and the next day of our trip was ruined. When pressed, James admitted they should probably warn guests about the thin ceilings. The rest of the property was no better. The pool ceiling was peeling and falling. Walls were yellowing. Metal fixtures were rusting. The gym had a decaying mirror and what looked like an unused ice machine being stored there. Fogged windows were sealed with tape instead of being repaired. The breakfast buffet was empty more than an hour before closing on two mornings and was only restocked after we complained. The staff was dismissive. The property is falling apart. We will never return.
With the lake front the resort was nice. But the room’s sound proof was bad. The guests upstairs danced to mid night and we could hear all their moves.
Great resort, lovely staff, it has its own beach area, and a place where you can rent boats and kayaks. Walking distance to downtown. We'll come back if we visit the area again.
A large resort on the lake. We stayed one night. The room was showing its age. The wall trim was damaged and bathrooms showed water damage. Our family of 4 was given a room with two double beds which was cosy. Room had no microwave . The staff were friendly and helpful. Good food in the pub.
Rooms are old tho and carpet should be removed. And upgrade remo would not be bad also
Carpet and my lock was finicky
The property was amazing right on the water with lots of different buildings to stay in. The beach area was very nice and they offered free rentals of paddle boards or kayaks in the evening. The entertainment in the main building pub was a great way to end the night.
Always a great place to stay. Will stay again
It’s a beautiful property with many options for out door activities such as kayaking, boat rentals etc. There’s a lovely indoor pool, sauna and hot tub that are a welcome treat after a very long drive. The restaurant and pub we pleasant and the food was good. The breakfast buffet was a nice start to the day, especially looking out at the water and boats.
The resort space is nice, but a tad dated. It’s walkable and allows for easy access to the town. Staff were quite friendly too.
Paid 299 per night, bathtub not cleaned with dark circle, tub wall very dirty looking, toilet paper not in rack but on top of toilet lid so I have to put it in, bed sheet so wrinkled as if not changed, and room only gets cleaned after 2nd night not the 1st day. Should have checked reviews before booking, people had complaints as well. checked other rooms, very smelly had to hold breath. Stayed 1 night in Silver Dart Lodge nearby, 100 less better and very clean bathroom.
