The Haymarket Hotel

Überhaupt nichts außer die Lage. Alles, ziemlich heruntergekommenes Hotel. Wir hatten ein kleines Zimmer mit zwei Kindern, da Bad hat schlecht gerochen. Es wurde zwar direkt behoben, dennoch: Müll vor dem Fenster, alles Möbel, Putz fällt von der Decke. All das wurde mit „viktorianischem Charme“ begründet. Es sind auch 5 Häuser, die entlang der Straße liegen. Zum Frühstück muss man durch den oft schottischen Regen.

The location was perfect

It is kinda old and the street is a bit noisy.

It is advertised as a hotel but rooms are located in a number of adjacent buildings - with reception and bar being in the main building; to me this isn’t a hotel… room was pleasant and staff friendly but the price far exceeded the facility

Schönes sauberes kleines Zimmer mit sehr ordentlichem Bad. Kaffee-/Tee auf dem Zimmer vorgehalten. Sehr nettes Personal. Frühstück war toll.

Our room was very compact but quite lovely. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was modern with big fluffy towels. Plenty of power points. Just a short walk to Haymarket stations with buses and trams available to the airport or city centre. Only a half hour walk to the Royal Mile if you want some exercise.

The safe and was locked open and unusable throughout our stay. I did report it but nothing happened. Forgot to mention it again on checkout. Very steep stairs to our room but know about that. Lucky we had help with the lovely Keara who checked us in.

I would suggest a few hooks in the rooms for hanging clothes/jackets up.

Excellent location, very close to the tram station. Easy access from the airport and to explore Edinburgh. The buildings are very nice, the room was comfortable.

Couple of things would be nice to improve: a drop-off quick parking in front of the hotel. Note that there is only paid parking even for check-in, but the machines only accept coins. With a foreign phone number could not register to the app-based payment so unless you have coins, cannot park even for the duration of check-in on the street. The bed in the room has wheels and as such if you try to sit with your back to the wall, the bed starts to move away from the wall. Please lock the wheels :)

Das Zimmer war schön , das Frühstück sehr gut, das Personal freundlich.

Leider ist das Hotel an einer sehr lauten Hauptstraße gelegen und ein kaputter Gullydeckel, über den alle Fahrzeuge fahren, halten einen wach. Erholsamer Schlaf ist so schwer zu finden.

It was a bit of a walk to the city centre but we had great weather. Also the room above had a loose floor board under the bed. Didn’t leave much to the imagination.😂😂🙄

Chambre plutôt bruyante, nous étions au sous.sol et un peu trop étroite. Le lit était trop mou.

Location is very central, right at the opposite of the Heymarket station, which is convenient for travel between the cities and take airlift from/to the airpot. Relatively easy to walk to the old city. Very close to the Dean village.

It was the least comfortable hotel of my life. I've never slept in a worse bed. I woke up several times throughout the night because of the discomfort and had terrible back pain in the morning. I had to put an additional pillow under my belly to fill the gap between the bed and my body.

The staff were so welcoming, friendly and super helpful. The hotel itself was carefully looked after and the room was lovely and comfortable. Great location 2 mins from tram stop and Haymarket Station so easy to quickly get to old town and castle.

We didn't book breakfast which worked out fine as dining room limited in capacity so if you're planning on having breakfast there, be prepared to wait and queue unless you're at the dining room door half an hour before breakfast starts !

No lift, but it's a historic building. Pack light.

Location was good. Restaurants for breakfast and tram nearby. 15 minute walk to old town.

Nowhere on Booking or hotel website did it say that the unit we booked would be up 47 stairs (and there was another floor above us). Website did state that upper units were only accessible via stairs. We had no way to chose a lower unit nor were we informed how many stairs we would have to do. Being senior citizens carrying luggage was very difficult and we had to limit our in/out of room.

Está súper bien ubicado, tienes conexión con un montón de buses y está la estación de Haymarket, también tienen restaurantes cerca y un Tesco. Tuvimos una muy buena estancia en general. El personal del hotel fue amable.

Estuvimos 5 días y aunque pasaban a hacer las camas no aspiraban el suelo, en nuestro caso una habitación con tres mujeres en época de perdida de pelo se notó jajaja 🤣

The Night staff issued a card to a man for our room at 1.30am. 3 females staying in the room,woken & confronted by a man entering our room was very unnerving. The night staff didn’t report it in the log book as an incident for the day staff, he tried to cover it up in the hope it wasn’t reported. The manager (man) was clueless in his initial response to me. I had to point out the seriousness of the incident & insist it was investigated, it took a phone call from me 6 days later to inquire what had been done it and to reinforce how our safety was put at huge risk by their negligence. The manager (a man) also tried to play it down stating a note had been left by the night staff which wasn’t found by the day staff, which is very hard to believe as the reception desk / area is very small. He said he was about to email me with a response which I didn’t believe, he would have left it , on the assumption that once we were home we would forget about it. He said he had investigated, the staff member had been retrained & left in no doubt it could not happen again. He said it hadn’t happened before in their hotel. A very serious situation which could have had far worse consequences and an underwhelming response from the hotel, with no offer of any refund not even a formal response or apology.

I loved the uniqueness of the hotel and the history of the hotel. Staff and owner are fabulous! We didn’t have the breakfast but was very busy the days we were there.I would give this hotel a 10/10 and we were on the top floor!!

No elevator ! Thank god I packed only a small carry-on and a backpack for each of us as there was 48 stairs up ! But we had help when we got there and going down is far better! Lol

The receptions carried bags up stairs and down when leaving. Comfy beds, nice breakfast. Lovely breakfast staff. Good location. All staff are friendly and helpful.

Nothing, maybe shower pressure could be better

The location was excellent with Haymarket Station, trams and buses only three minutes away. We like walking, so we explored the city on foot for our three full days in Edinburgh. The hotel buildings were lovely, as was the street they were in. Breakfast was excellent with good variety and the room in which it was served was beautifully decorated and had a great atmosphere. Keira gets a special mention for her kindness and warm welcome on our late night arrival at reception. Richard, Emanuel and Roberto get a special mention for their warm welcome and service each morning in the breakfast room.

Location of the hotel was excellent. I had to go to royal hall for a convention, it was easy to reach with the tram and hotel is located so close to the tram that I did have time to visit the city as well.

the bed and the chair in the room didn’t seem stable to me. It wasn’t as comfortable as one would hope. Room size was small as well but that might be expected.

I arrived early but reception managed to get me into a room early which was very helpful. Location was fantastic, just out of the hustle of central Edinburgh, in a quiet street but only meters away from cafes and shops. Lots of public transport options we nearby (tram and bus, as well as Haymarket train station).

The mattress had been well-used over the years..

In the past few years I have been in several "dog friendly" hotels, but The Haymarket beats them all. When we got in our room we found a bed made for our dog, a bowl a some treats already prepared, absolutely incredible. In addition, the staff was extremely nice and professional, the room are of a very decent size and extremely clean. The location is convenient (only 20 mins walking distance from the city centre) or even less if you use the local transport. We didn't use all of their facilities, like the pub/restaurant and we did not have breakfast there, so I cannot comment on those.

I don't honestly have anything negative to say about this venue, the only thing I'd point out is that, if you are travelling with either small children and their stroller, or with a few heavy luggage, check with the hotel that your are not in one of the lower ground rooms like we were, because to get to them, you need to walk a narrow (but short) staircase that takes you to the rooms.

The location is very convenient for most of the attractions and the stadium. Breakfast was very nice. Staff were very polite and helpful.

The decor in the room was quite poor, chipped paint and pealing wallpaper with water marks and stains close to the ceiling. Our shower tray was backing up and the shower was leaking. When we told staff they did get the shower flowing better and fix the leak. Very expensive too, we paid 775 including breakfast for 2 nights, I know the city was fully booked, but we feel the price was massively inflated and didn’t reflect the quality of the hotel. If we visit Edinburgh again we’ll definitely check other websites.

It was a budget hotel that met my expectations. The room's decor and location were positives.

The price was too high for what was offered. There were quite a few minor but annoying shortcomings, for example: no soap dish (the soap kept sliding around the sink), very weak shower water pressure, poor bathroom lighting, and a lack of sheer curtains on the window facing the street and other buildings—meaning the heavy curtains had to be drawn to cover the entire window.

A little pricey but very attentive staff and convenient location

It was clean, fairly spacious for 1 person, nice bathroom. It was immediately close to the trains, trams, and Airlink bus. The staff were very helpful and accommodating.

First room I received was very closed to a restaurant kitchen, meaning the noise starting at 6am and the strong smell. Asked to change. Second room was indeed quiet, but with windows broken. Finally I kept it as I did not want to move again.

Das Personal war sehr freundlich, das Zimmer erstaunlich gut und die Lage war auch gut. Es liegt ein wenig außerhalb des direkten Zentrums, aber trotzdem fußläufig machbar. Zum Stadium war es die perfekte Lage für nach dem Konzert.

Colazione continentale un poco scarna ma era possibile ordinare piatti caldi direttamente dalla cucina tipici scozzesi. la sera era possibile cenare anche fino un po più tardi per le abitudini scozzesi in un pab a pochi passi PLATFORM 5 consigliato.

Die Lage, das Haus, die Sauberkeit und die Freundlichkeit des Personals

Für 7 Quadrat Meter Zimmer war der Preis pro Nacht ohne Frühstück für über 250 Euro fand ich persönlich zu teuer. Wahrscheinlich war es auf Grund der Konzerte, Festivals etc. die zu der Zeit stattfanden in Verbindung mit hoher Nachfrage zurückzuführen.

La habitación no tiene nada que ver con la foto. Era retro total, aunque tenia su encanto pero es un poco engañoso por la foto que aparece. En la foto se ven muebles modernos y era todo lo contrario, antiguos y poco Warren.

Staff would not let me purchase a can of juice from the bar, after arriving back from a concert. They said the bar had closed 10 minutes ago. Staff attitude was very poor, I feel this request could have been accommodated

Great rooms, spacious, there was 1 double bed and two si ales with four guests, there was plenty of space. You didnt feel like you were "on top of eachother".

The wifi connection was not very good at times.

Hotel provided another room (upon our request) as the one initially booked was too noisy from the traffic.

Smaller room was located at the front of hotel. Very noisy traffic at night. To eliminate the noise, we closed the window; however, it became too hot to sleep. Fan was provided but not ideal.

Travelling for a concert, arrived early but reception managed to get us into a room early so we could go to the Concert, very helpful, room was spacious clean and well equipped. We didn't have breakfast, but overall experience was really good and helped make our visit to Edinburgh stress free.

We booked to stay in the Haymarket Hotel as we were visiting Edinburgh for a Concert at the Showground and the hotel is a very short walk from Haymarket railway station as well as the tram and bus interchange. The hotel is made up of have six houses next to each other. Check in was straightforward and staff very helpful as we had arrived before 3pm to meet friends to eat and then go to the Concert, but staff managed to find a prepared room and let us in early , which was very helpful The room was very spacious in a 'basement' but with a large window that looked on to a well kept back garden.. It was clean and well presented. A basic tea and coffee provision and clean fridge were available. There was a good sized clean bathroom with shower only, well stocked with towels and even robes and slippers! Shower was hot with good water flow. Fell asleep quickly watching the Day of the Jackal , perhaps not so good for dream material, but slept soundly and the room was very quiet no disturbances. Good mattress and very clean sheets. We didn't get breakfast as wanted to see what local cafes were like and found a good one on the corner of the street. Coates Cafe. We were able to leave our bags at reception whilst we went out and about and collected before we setoff home that evening. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming . It was on the higher side of what I would have expected to pay for one night ..but its prices vary depending on factors as they do with any accommodation, hey it's Summer the Fringe and Festival and a 1000 other things are going on and for location and what was offered I was happy to pay a little more for the service comfy room and what amounted to a very fine stay!

I had booked to stay in the Haymarket Hotel as I was visiting Edinburgh for an event. I booked it quite far in advance as I knew that Edinburgh hotels are in high demand during August due to the many events happening in and near the city at this time. The hotel is in the West End of the city and a very short walk from Haymarket railway station as well as the tram and bus interchange. I arrived at reception and provided my photo ID and was checked in. They have six houses next to each other which are the hotel room. I was given a key card to enter the house and my room and it was all very straightforward. My room was a little small but very cosy. It was clean and everything was well presented. There was tea and coffee available for drinks as well. There was a small bathroom and everything was very clean. I left the hotel and arrived back late at night and got back into the house easily and settled down for the night. I slept really well and was only woken up when my alarm went off. I had an invigorating shower with plenty of hot water and shower gel and I dried off with a huge soft towel. I could have got breakfast but decided against that and headed out to explore the area. I was able to leave my bag at reception whilst I did this and I returned later to collect it and carry on with my explorations. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and I had a lovely stay. It was a little expensive but it was worth every penny to have a lovely stay.

Good location. The hotel was clean.

It is spread over a number of houses so chances are you are not in the main building which means a walk outside to reception or the bar/food area. The room was on the top floor. No lifts. It was hotter than hell and although there was a small fan provided in a cupboard it was noisy and not too effective. The window didn’t open and was cracked. Paintwork in the room was poor. I know that Edinburgh is expensive in August but I have stayed in very many places for the same price of £210 which had better facilities. Even the tea and coffee on the room tray were cheap.

The location is convenient for Haymarket Station and a bus stop is two minutes away on the main road. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly.

Our room was down a short flight of steps to a basement which was quite warm even with the window open . We only switched on the tv on our second day and discovered the picture was unwatchable and the set was making a strange sound, In fairness we were out almost all the time and only reported this as we left.

It was an excellent location for getting the bus to the airport early. I was not feeling well when I checked in, head cold acquired in Crail. The room was quiet. The shower worked well. Feeling better after a night's sleep.

An elevator but perhaps that is too much to wish for.

We absolutely loved our stay in Edinburgh. The room was beautiful, comfortable and exactly what we had hoped for. We also really liked the concept of the hotel – everything was well thought out, uncomplicated and made us feel completely at ease. Highly recommended!

Cute hotel divided across a few townhouses. The room was cosy, had everything we needed and the location was quite central. Warm welcome at the reception and great tips about the city.

Das sehr schöne große Deluxe-Doppelzimmer bietet sehr viel Platz. Insgesamt hat uns die besondere Atmosphäre des Hotels, das aus einzelnen Häusern besteht, sehr gut gefallen. Die Lage und die Anbindung (Zug, Tram und Busse) sind ebenfalls optimal.

Das Bad war etwas veraltet.

The reception staff couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly. Perfect ! The beds were really comfortable and so were the pillows.

We were on the top floor of one of the buildings - I hadn’t realised it wasn’t one hotel. The place is very clean but a touch tired. Odd to have a carpet in the toilet at reception - not great.
