Proper quality guest house. Amazing location. We had family room. Spotless. Everything you need. Carol we love you.

Nothing to dislike at all.

The location was ideal for our needs and beyond close to all the amenities. The staff where very polite and could not do anymore for us. The breakfast was excellent and we could not ask for more. All in all it was a very nice stay and hopefully we shall return again.

The hotel and location were perfect, very nice staff and an amazing breakfast, with so much food to choose from. The room was clean and comfortable, and parking was easy. I would Highly recommend this hotel.

Little extras in room apart from the normal ones, eg shower cap, tissues, hot chocolate sachet and bar of chocolate. Breakfast was 100% choice of cereals fruits porridge , full English as well as many other choices. 100% for cleanliness and friendliness

The location is perfect for everything clacton has to offer. The staff were so polite and friendly. The room (and the entire building) was spotless. The breakfast was incredible, so much choice and cooked to perfection. I will 100% be booking again.

Comfortable, old school charm, superb service, great breakfast, comfy bed, cleanest bathroom we’ve ever stayed in! Managed to park outside every night. Close to the pier and eating/drinking places. Everyone at Chudleigh was so friendly and helpful. Fantastic large, fluffy white bath sheets!

Nothing - the stairs are a challenge for old knees but the exercise was good for us.

Overflow parking across the road. Fan in the bedroom which was very welcome due to the temperatures. Lovely staff. Carol even provided a bacon sandwich for my drive home after the half marathon.

WiFi was a bit patchy. TV tended to lose reception a bit when you moved around the room :-)

The rooms were spacious, bed was comfy, and the staff were really friendly. Also breakfast was delicious!

The location of hotel is excellent just 3 minutes walk to the Pier and beach. The room & bathroom was very clean and spacious. The room had a big window which helped in the heat. There was a fan & mini fridge also. The breakfast was served hot & had a good variety. The proprietor Carol is a very sweet host & was regularly checking whether we needed anything. I had fallen over on the pavement while walking my dog & injured my hand & knee. She gave me savlon cream for my wound. A very safe & comfortable & homely place.

Absolute gem. We only stayed one night but honestly couldn't fault anything. Carol was a lovely host, we really enjoyed chatting to her. The room was spotlessly clean and there were so many thoughtful extras - from tea and coffee selection, extra mugs, toiletries. Bathroom towels were huge and fluffy. The bed was really comfortable and the pillows were some of the best we've ever had. Incredible breakfast with great choice. Free parking and location also a bonus.

Beautiful room, bed and pillows with a small fridge included. Breakfast was excellent as well as the service. Everyone made such a fuss of my dog Ellie felt very at home and welcomed. Parking just outside.

Would have preferred a balcony if this had been available. Although not a major problem.

Homely feel and very welcoming. Convenient location close to the sea front, small car park on the front for about 4 cars.

Super hot in the room as we were n a heat wave and no way of circulating the air. Fan available in the room but made little difference.

The breakfast included was amazing such a selection wiped the floor with most hotels I've stayed in The manager /Owner went out of her way to make me feel welcome And the morning team were very friendly

It's a really nice family run hotel ideal for the centre of town It's not a premier inn and rooms are small but the little touches like a bar of chocolate good biscuit selection make up for that Bed really comfortable and room very clean

What a lovely stay at this guest house. I loved the size of the rooms, the bathroom, the teas, coffees, along with a chocolate and a biscuit, bottles of water and the breakfast was great!

Freundlicher Empfang, sauberes, ruhiges Zimmer im Erdgeschoss des stilvollen Gebäudes. Tolles, reichhaltiges Frühstück, Parkplatz direkt vor der Tür, Strandnähe fußläufig.

Leider direkt hinter dem Pier mit seinem billigen, kitschigen Unterhaltungsgeschäften gelegen. Zudem hatten wir das Pech, dass sich abends und nachts wegen eines Pfederennens die Stadt und die Gastronomie im Ausnahmezustand befand (Alkohol). Nur dafür konnten die Gastgeber natürlich nichts.

The hospitality was amazing. Lovely sweet couple very welcoming. The lady serving breakfast could not do enough. The breakfast was amazing. Full English breakfast with so many add ons. The room had everything you need and more.

It is just unfortunate that it is where it is. It is in walking distance to all amenities but pity it was not on main road away from the garages etc.

It’s a wonderful B&B dating back to the 1960s, that has been sympathetically & tastefully updated to suit modern day needs, but retains its original charm. The staff are friendly and attentive. The rooms are clean and fresh. The breakfast is good and generous. I couldn’t fault it.

Decor was very dated but very clean

Even though I had looked at the location on the map, I didn't realise it was quite as close to the beachfront as it was and it was really perfect for what I needed. I was also able to park there, which was excellent. The room was spacious, clean and provided great facilities - wi-fi, TV, tea, coffee and treats which was a really nice touch. Breakfast was excellent, with a huge range on offer - pretty much anything you could want - and everyone I spoke to was friendly and very helpful.

No air conditioning, so as it was one of the hottest days of the year the extreme heat was totally out of the hotel's control.

A pleasing throwback to bygone times - a family hotel ... family run, for families! A delicious breakfast that lasts all day!

Nice room. I was upgraded to a double room. It was so hot but fans were provided and the room stay pretty cool during the heat wave. Nice selection of tea, coffee in room. Full English breakfast was great. Parking outside. Will definitely stay again.

EVERYTHING

From the moment we arrived to the time we left, EVERY member of staff we met were so friendly and happy. The room was clean, comfortable bed and pillows. Plenty of tea and coffee available. The weekend we arrived was the beginning of a heatwave, but we had a fan in the room, and Carol the owner kindly lent me a cooling mat for my dog. The breakfasts were amazing - you won't need lunch after. (you also get offered a muffin "for later") Also, the best coffee I've had in a long time. We were only 2 mins walk to the promenade and beach with beautiful views and gardens. I'm so glad I found this little gem which truly welcomes dogs. The Chudleigh will definitely be my "go to" place to stay each time I visit Clacton.

Its location is perfect and the property was clean, every need catered for and the bed was very comfortable.

This was my first visit to Clacton-on-Sea, and although I checked in very late due to work commitments, Carol and her husband were absolutely outstanding. They made sure I was warmly welcomed, well looked after, and completely comfortable from the moment I arrived. Their kindness, smiles, and genuine hospitality were truly exceptional and unlike anything I had experienced before in the UK. Carol even kindly offered me a complimentary room upgrade, which was an amazing surprise. The room was spotlessly clean, beautifully presented, and incredibly comfortable. I will always remember Carol, her warm smile, and the wonderful welcome I received. I will definitely return and would love to stay at the hotel again with my family on my next visit.

Exceptional the chudleigh is extremely comfortable with fantastic staff who go on and above what was expected. The owner is a wonderful lady who really does know her stuff brilliant i highly recommend the chudleigh even if you are a few miles away do go to the chudleigh Breakfast out of this world beautiful

There was nothing I didnt like

Warm welcome, and gentle elegance of the decoration. A wonderful big room and the bed was super comfy. The snack selection was fab and the filtered coffee packets were a nice touch. Breakfast was varied, I loved the fresh fruit and yogurts, and the cooked breakfast was hot and delicious 😋

OMG!! What an amazing stay! Fantastic location, lovely host and staff. Wonderful clean room with quality toiletries, bedding and towels. All Teas and Coffees in room were all branded and there was even a chocolate bar and biscuits too! The bed was huge and so comfortable with deep filled pillows for a perfect nights sleep. The breakfast was incredible and cooked to order and the choice of marmalades is unlike I’ve ever seen before. Will 100% be returning - we had a brilliant stay and was barely a minutes walk to the beach and Clacton Pier. Carol the host was warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. If you’re ever in Clacton, you can’t beat The Chudleigh, for location, quality and value.

Everything was very tradditional but realy high quality. It is clear that a lot of attention to detail has been employed here form vast experience and a desire to to meet your needs. Spotlessly clean everywhere. Very comfortable bed and bedding. Breakfast was top quality. On site parking couldn't have been easier or more convenient.

The water in the sink was luke warm at best to wash in (although to be fair it didn't bother me enough to even mention to the owner or staff). If possible the shower needs upgrading from electric.

It's not a Hotel but advertised as one. Separate toilet means you have to go to the bathroom to wash your hands. Bed uncomfortable. Room too warm despite opening windows

A delightfully warm reception with a quite nice room (good value for money) and truly first rate supplies (top quality soap, towels, plumbing, etc). And the breakfast was superb. The fresh fruit was way better than most hotels and I’ve never seen a wider selection of Tiptree jams!

The (tiny) TV Wasn’t visible from the bed and showers that are in a bath are never as good as dedicated shower cubicles. That said, I still liked the Chudleigh and would recommend it and stay again.

The guest house was very nice, very near the beach and the breakfast was lovely.

Such a lovely couple running their own business. The staff they employed were all most helpful and gave u a genuine smile every morning.

What a find! The location of the hotel was about 100yds from the sea front. I cannot fault the hotel. Everything was perfect and well above our expectations. Anything and everything you might need was catered for by the owners and they did a breakfast to die for! Clacton sea front was lovely..... cant understand why it sometimes gets a bad press. I will certainly stay there again. A huge thumbs up to the Chudleigh....

Perfectly situated in Clacton for the pier, high street and local restaurants. We couldn't believe how well located The Chudleigh is. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome by Carol and her team. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was a home away from home, with a comfy bed, beautiful big fluffy towels, lots of hot water and an extensive hospitality tray with numerous options to drink- even had a Cadbury's bar of Daily Milk to enjoy! One of the highlights of the visit was meeting Peter who cooked the most amazing breakfasts for us- his scrambled, poached and boiled eggs were perfect- his experience as a chef truly shows and the house speciality of fried bread needs an award to itself. We all felt relaxed after our stay, and all agreed it was like staying with your Nan and Grandad and being enveloped in a warm, cosy hug- we'll definitely be back and highly recommend.

This was a very comfortable, accommodating place to stay. It was central to where we needed to be and parking included. I can't fault the welcome we received (including our dog). The room was great but the breakfast was beyond great!!

The accommodation was easy to find . It was. very central to shops . I know the area well due to extended family living close by so was familiar with it . The instructions were easy with a book with the WiFi code etc and the management made our stay a very pleasant one . There was little noise at night which was an added bonus and the beds are very comfy . The breakfast had a good variety aswell . We will be back

We just loved everything about our stay! The attention to detail the cleanliness the staff and the owner all made us feel so welcome breakfast was amazing with a superb selection we would highly recommend this B&B and we will definitely pay a return visit in the future!

Close to the sea and shops. Pretty, with hanging baskets, free parking , sitting room, marvellous choice for breakfast, quiet, a spirit of generosity reflected in the room’s toiletries, fluffy towels, room refreshments and breakfast choices

Hardly a surprise it was lovely given the same family been running it for so long. Must be doing something right eh... Friendly welcome and lovely staff very accommodating and helpful bed and room was comfortable and homely everything you could ask for.
