Hard Rock Hotel Penang

Had a great stay at Hard Rock Hotel Penang. Definitely a family friendly hotel, especially when travelling with kids. The lifts were efficient with minimal waiting time. We especially loved the swimming pool. Having lifeguards on duty made us feel safe and secure while the kids enjoyed themselves. 🏊‍♂️ The food was awesome , delicious with a good selection. Overall, we had a comfortable and enjoyable family stay. Would definitely come back again! ❤️🎸

The game room is a nice addition, especially for families with kids. However, it would be great to have a wider selection of games and activities to choose from. More variety would definitely make the game room more enjoyable and keep the kids entertained for longer.

Je deplore que les bouées soient payantes et que la fete mousse le soi aussi. Il n'y a pas vraiment d'activité pour adulte ( il serait purtant facile de proposer du yoga sur la plage, du foot, de l'aquagym etc...) et le kid club est assez ennuyant pour les enfants de plus de 6 ans. Mon fils de 8 ans y est allé une fois et n'a plus voulu y retourner car trop "bébé". Le teen club egalement. Mon fils de 13 ans y est allé tous les jours et y a joué seul a la playstation ou sur les ordinateurs. c'est dommage : des activities adaptés aux ados devraient etre proposées.

Our second time visiting this hotel and was just as brilliant as it was before The hotel is perfect for families. Kids club, baby play area and teenagers club with pool table and PlayStation. The waterpark anf slides are brilliant safe full of life guards and never too crowded. The beach is pristine clean and well maintained. There are no sunbeds or canopies out there (I dont think the beach area outside is private) nevertheless it was never busy and very serene. The hotel amenities are good 2 housekeeping visits a day which is decent if you've got sand in your room from an afternoon in the beach We had a roxi kids suite with a courtyard this was decent but unfortunately although the rooms were separate in space the sounds and lights were not due to the layout of the wall which did make it difficult when our toddler had his nap in tne afternoon. We did as for connecting rooms instead for the space but the hotel was at full capacity due to ongoing renovations. The staff all around the site were always smiling, happy and really kind to us during our stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel as its has everything fot a family break if it provided half board or all inclusive rates it would be a10/10. The hotel is located on a busy stretch so food is easily accessible but honestly who has the time to get ready and go for lunch, as expected we ate in the poolside hotel for afternoon which can get expensive and repetitive.

Clean, lots to do or just relax

We did have a bad experience with the chef out at the outdoor restaurant where he ignored our concerns around the food.

Les chambres ( pour nous 130 avec baignoire puis 129 avec juste douche) sont bien agencées et la literie confortable. C’est propre. Le buffet du petit déjeuner est copieux et très varié. La piscine est super pour les enfants et les familles. La proximité de la plage permet aussi d’avoir un autre type de baignade mais pas de parasols ni transats ( plein soleil) . À proximité sur la plage il y a des bars et restaurants avec des animations le soir. Le personnel est attentif et nous a trouvé une solution pour le désagrément des voisins en nous changeant de chambre ( pour ne pas être avec une porte mitoyenne) plus nous a offert quelques fruits et des chocolats ( merci !) . Enfermés dans un calme relatif de notre chambre, nous avons pu regarder des films au frais…ce qui nous a permis de nous reposer un peu … A proximité nous recommandons le havre de paix , tranquillité et calme du restaurant FERRINGHI GARDEN ´ qui offre une alternative agréable au chaos de l’hôtel et qui propose une très bonne cuisine.

Ultra bruyant le jour de notre arrivée. ( samedi) Nous avions réservé une chambre avec accès direct à la piscine et impossible d’en profiter car trop de monde devant et qui hurlait. C’est un hôtel fait pour les familles, donc si vous cherchez le calme passez votre chemin. Il y a également une très mauvaise isolation acoustique entre les chambres s’il y a une porte mitoyenne ou des baie vitrées . Surtout que l’hôtel en rénovation n’était ouvert qu’à moins de la moitié de sa capacité !! Je n’ose pas imaginer ce que cela pourra être quand toutes les chambres seront disponibles…. Le buffet ne déroge pas à la règle du bruit . Partout dans l’hôtel il y’a de la musique, parfois impossible de comprendre ce que disent les gens tellement c’est fort. Le règlement vestimentaire de la piscine n’est pas forcément respecté ni surveillé. Pour nous ce fut une déception bien coûteuse, nous n’avions pas imaginé tant de nuisances sonores pour nos journées de repos sur l’île. Nous ne reviendrons pas car ce complexe, bien que très beau , ne correspond pas du tout au havre de paix ou de tranquillité espéré par sa localisation.

First let’s start with the problem, we had our hotel stay arranged by an agent. They missed that there was renovations, and no hot water for the 2 day stay we had. Then we checked into our room and the air conditioner was making noises. Of course I was quite upset about it and I messaged my agent to say I was really upset, it was the end of the trip, my sons birthday, and we just came from camping 3 days doing tons of extreme outdoor activiites. This is where I thought I was going to have a totally unpleasant experience to the management team creating one of the most magical experiences I have ever had at any hotel I have stayed in. Let it be noted I have stayed at some of the most beautiful hotels in Asia and MENA regions over the last 10 years. Upon Stephanie the hotel manager being notified of how I felt, learning it was my sons birthday, and respectfully being honest how I felt she made it her mission to make sure that we would leave the hotel happy and boy did she ever succeed. Let’s start with what she did and it’s above and beyond anything I have seen and I worked for Marriott for 3 years in college and I have seen what hotels do to make sure their customers are happy. 1. They changed our rooms right away 2. They made sure we had turn down service daily, made a heart out of towels on the bed, gave the boys some cool pins and stick on tattoos. 3. They arranged a birthday celebration in the room for my son with cake and balloons and fruit 4. They gave us 200RM voucher for the restaurant 5. They arranged for us at the Hard Rock Cafe dinner and gave my son a huge birthday sundae and show 6. They arranged for us to sit in the rock royal for breakfast which was really nice to have some specialty menu items the French Toast is one of the best I have ever had. 7. The team introduced themselves, constantly made sure our needs were met and made us feel special. I have been in business for many years, I coach business owners, I invest in businesses and I can say this as a fact the most important part of any business is HOW YOU MAKE YOUR CUSTOMERS FEEL! This is what will bring them back and will also give them stories like this to share with their network of friends and colleagues. This hotel staff among the issues of renovations, and no hot water, and our first room having issues with air conditioning making noise! Turn all those negatives into a massive positive that made the experience epic making us feel important and valued. We went from wanting to give a 2* review from our first impression to giving this 5* review and recommendation to stay at this hotel. This staff truly cares and shows it! They are the kind of Hotel that really is a Gem in a world that has forgotten in many parts about the customer experience. All I can say is Stephanie and her entire team puts the ROCK in Hard Rock Hotel! Truly grateful for the care, service, attentiveness and experience they gave us. This is hotel that I would recommend to anyone who has a family, or that cares to have staff that really put the customers happiness as a priority. Stephanie is honestly a glowing star in hotel management and I hope corporate sees this review and gives her a promotion, she is exactly what hard rock hotels and Hotel Management is supposed to embody and her team are also very well trained! How could anything ever go wrong at Hard Rock? An amazing property and my kids loved it. Everything designed with fun in mind. We spent 90% of our time in the resort and didn’t get bored. Also food at the cafe is amazing.

Booked 3 months a twin room (travelling with daughter), followed up a month before to confirm twin room then day before arrival seeking confirmation again. The day we checked in, unfortunately they couldn’t supply a twin room, only king size bed. I wasn’t offered alternatives so I decided to book a different hotel for me. That wasn’t a pleasant experience and then during the time there bar staff confused billing which took a few attempts to fix. However upon my return to Australia I decided to reach out to management about my experience. I ended communicating with the GM. After some emails and his apologies for the 2 incidents, the hotel reimbursed me basically covering the cost of the other hotel. Sometimes travel can be stressful but if you deal with people respectfully and honestly more often than not you will get an outcome. The hotel handled my situation with respect and with full understanding and I feel that if an opportunity arose I would go back to the hotel. Outside my experience the hotel has amazing pools, food and entertainment and highly recommend the facilities.

Everything was amazing during our stay. The kids definitely had fun in the pool and they enjoyed the game room as well.

It has a great location, the rooms and facilities were clean, and the staff were friendly, well organized, and very cooperative throughout my stay.

While the hotel has a great location, clean facilities, and friendly, well-organized staff, I was disappointed with several aspects of my stay. The food quality was not what I would expect from a five-star hotel. The taste was average, and both the Pizzaria Restaurant and the Hard Rock Cafe offered limited menu variety compared to other hotels in the same category in penang. Although the prices are in line with a five-star hotel, the food quality and selection are not. The pizza, in particular, was below the standard I expected. The breakfast buffet was another disappointment. It lacked the variety and selection commonly found at other five-star hotels in the area. The hotel was also very noisy. Construction work was taking place throughout our stay, which significantly affected our comfort and relaxation.

Very unpleasant experience overall. Had a easily sorted bill error escalate into a partial volatile encounter with a staff member one night. It was the error of the hotel and the lady serving became quiet argumentative and rather than work thru it said " just get the cash from your friends" this is after being asked on every occasion drinks where ordered she asked our room numbers but ultimately put the Bill On the room that was paying cash for their drinks. The second issue was about a chef in a very quiet pizza outlet who delivered our pizza after everyone else at the table had finished their food. When I raised the delay with staff he started glaring and raising his arms as if I was wrong for asking. Co incidentally a member of our party was ill the next morning after eating her pasta dish from the same chef. Most disappointing was that I raised the same points with the general manager via email and got not even a acknowledgement of receipt from him. Very poor Form indeed.

I’m not really a fan of this property. The architecture at the entrance looks pretty ordinary, and parking is difficult to find.

We have an awesome stay at Hard Rock. Everything is good, the room is clean, the food is delicious, the staff helpful..

The kids waterplay was fantastic and so was the pool. The staff at reception were fantastic especially David he was lovely and make checkin and out very pleasant.

The renovations which are very much needed was noisy especially around the pool and on our floor. Over half of the rooms are being renovated so it was a lot of noise. The lifeguards werent so pleasant and there wasnt a good atmosphere around the pool. Not like some other kid friendly hotels.

Breakfast was a bit disappointing with quality and choices and also certain dishes not refilled. Would have preferred room cleaning to be done mid morning instead of late afternoon.

The Front Office provided a rock-star and dazzling welcome, super quick check-in, and awesome local tips. Priya and Ayus did a good job! While the fabulous housekeeping kept our room sparkling, forgotten the Housekeeping guy name with a nice smile. We had a blast at the pool with its fun slides and sandy play area, making this stay a total win that we can't wait to repeat!

This is the Hard Rock Hotel. On the roof of the pool bar the statues of John, Paul, George and Ringo stand with arms open wide. They welcome all guests to take in the music and become one with the hotel. The staff seem to be under the spell as.well and are wonderfull. It is a vibe and you either love it or hate it. Don't come if you don't like music. Families love the pool. It is easy to spend money however some specials are on offer. Breakfast has a great selection and good value. Location is good, near a market, water sports, other food options, and beach (can't swim). We witnessed fire shows on the beach, did paragliding, and had a boat trip at sunset to Monkey Island.

The rooms are comfortable however, there was a battle occurring between the humidity and the air conditioning. Unfortunately we were there during major renovations to the hotel which included lots of noise during the day. Not overly long distance to the airport or Georgetown however, can take up to 1 hour or more due to traffic. Our trip from the airport on a Sunday morning took 40 minutes.

There weren't any cover from the lobby to the buffet restaurant, and there was heavy rain when we finished our dinner, the staff borrow us an umbrella, but still it will be better if there is cover from lobby to the restaurant

First of all, very friendly staff - five star team! Very helpful, polite and courteous. Our stay was during the renovations, so there was loud construction noise during most of the day. The room was pretty nice, and the breakfast buffet was pretty extensive. Great for families - in fact most of the people staying here were families. Not as great for couples or nightlife. Beware swimming in the ocean, there are jellyfish that will sting you! (The hotel has a small sign about this, but it's definitely not terribly obvious). Overall, would come back, post renovation. However, would probably stay in Georgetown next time in Penang, and be closer to all the nightlife.

The building work was more than anticipated and extremely loud, was not enjoyable to relax around pool.if we knew the full extent of the renovation we would have chosen a different hotel.
